Promise Pegasus R6 web management

Hi There,
anybody has a clue, what is the user name and password for managing Promise Pegasus R6 from a Safari? I know the address is 127.0.0.1:8080 for its WEBPAM PROE service, but could not find the user name and password to log in. There is nothing in the user manual, nothing on the Promise support site, I could find only the Promise Vtrak manual, where is says it is adminstrator and password, but it does not work with this.
I have connected two R6 arrays to a Mac MIni sever and the second array is doing something continously what is not shown in the Promise Utility and bogs down the second array, so I got the idea to use its web management to check what is going on.
Many thanks for advising.

Hi,
Use the same account details you login to your Mac with.  If those don't have administrator rights, you may need to use an account which does.
I've found most features on the web interface to be well represented through the "Promise Utility".  I believe there was an update to that subsequent to  your  post so you may wish to try that also.

  • Promise Pegasus R4 - Partition resize

I installed an additional harddisk on my Promise Pegasus R4. Running the migration I could extend the Disk Array and the Logical Drive as well.
But the partition size was still the same. Promise does not provide any tool to resize the partition. They refer to the Apple Dis Utility.
Using the Disk Utility for resizing a partition on the raid I'm getting the following message:
MadiaKit reports partition (map) to small
I know that I'm not the only one having this issues with the Promise Pegasus Raid, but Promise does not provide any support on the reported problem. Does anybody know how to solve this issue?
    Thanks

    System:
    Mac Mini
    Yosemite 10.10
    Server 4.0
    Promise Pegasus R4

I opened a case with Promise and got the following answer:
Filesystem and partition is managed by MacOS. Typically you can extend the partition in disk utility. I do not know if disk utility can expand the partition without deleting data. For that we can recommend to contact Apple for more information.
Once again - no support from Promise!

I appreciate you guys taking the time to respond, I just wonder if you read the details of my question?  I have specifically stated that the above hotfix
is installed along with the other prerequisite that the Install Guide mentions.  Furthermore I have not only checked the log but posted it for review.
I'm thinking the above advice is almost automated, it is the same as I found in numerous searches.  The problem I have here is I DID read the manual, have done what it says and still get this error.
This morning I reinstalled the hotfixes  and tried the install again.  Here is the log from today:
Please note the bolded line, it seems there is some registry value being checked but I don't know what so I can fix it.

  • No longer able to access Web Management after Firmware Update [SF200]

    Hello!
Today I was attempting to set up SNMP on our SF200-48 switch. I realized we were running old firmware which does not support SNMP and that the most current version (1.4.0.88) does support it. I attempted to upgrade the firmware but it failed, so I decided to install the 1.1.2.0 firmware because I read that the firmware flash process has changed before 1.4
Unfortunately, after rebooting I was no longer able to access web management on the switch. Unfortunately SF200 switches do not support CLI.
The switch is functional and responds to ping, but I cannot get into management to do anything, is there any steps we can try or will I need to reset the switch? After resetting the switch, will I lose any configuration but still not be able to access management? We do not have any other switches to drop in place of this one, and I'd like to minimize downtime as much as possible.
    thanks,
    Graham Rounds

    Hi Graham,
if you are sure that the ping response is coming from the switch then I guess the only thing you could try is the factory reset but you will loose all the configuration. You might call also Small Business Team and open a ticket so they will proceed with RMA if necessary:

  • Small fast network with Mac mini server and Promise Pegasus?

I have 7 Mac Pros and iMacs that need to be connected to the same storage. I'm doing non MPI-based numerical modeling so the transfer rates have to be fast but not infiniband fast. I'm considering a setup with a Promise Pegasus thunderbolt RAID connected to a Mac Mini running Lion server for Access controll/Roaming homer directories. The Mac Pros and iMacs would the be connected via 1Gb ethernet.
My question is where the bottlenecks in this setup would be. The server software/hardware? The network? What else am I forgetting

I assume you're looking at Mac mini because you've already run the numbers on Mac Pro and ruled it out. I wonder how many buyers are opting for Mac mini solely for those Promise Thunderbolt arrays.
I also assume that each of your users is currently using a single gigabit Ethernet port to connect to the LAN.
If these assumptions are accurate, then I think that a Mac mini will work as long as you and your users have appropriate expectations. The win from putting this server in place won't be networked storage that outperforms an internal SATA drive, although in bursts it probably can. The solution you've described is smart because it's centralized, securable and adds a layer of data protection (RAID).
You asked about bottlenecks. I can think of three, two of which you can work around now or in the near future. The first is Mac mini's slow internal hard drive(s). You'll have a solution in hand: Boot Mac mini from the array. Some consider that to be a controversial choice, but you shouldn't spend extra for the Mac mini server with dual 7200 RPM drives. The less costly Core i7 configure-to-order upgrade will give you a bigger boost.
Booting from the array also protects you from the most likely "repair" scenario for Mac mini: Swapping out your entire machine.
The second issue is Mac mini's lack of an expansion bus. If you get more users or start using apps that demand more from the LAN, you might want to fire up additional gigabit Ethernet ports. Mac mini has just one. At present, the only way to add a gigabit port is with a Thunderbolt PCIe bus expander. Early next year, there should be more options that connect directly or via an intermediate bus like ExpressCard/34 or USB 3.0.
The one limitation you're powerless to work around is RAM. Mac mini tops out at 8 GB. That meets requirements, but it will be tight if you try to use Mac mini as a client and a server. I deploy them headless so no one's tempted to use the console.
You can improve your odds that gigabit will cut it by using heavy, short Cat6 cables and a switch dedicated to the Mac LAN. Use Mac mini's built-in Wi-Fi to keep Remote Desktop and other low-priority traffic off the wire.
Whatever solution you choose, I wish you the best of luck.

  • Mac mini and Promise Pegasus Thunderbolt Question

I'm a semi-pro photographer and my wife is a graphic designer. I just bought a new mac mini with the Promise Pegasus 8 TB RAID drive. I know the mini HD is slow and the small so I want to use the RAID as a boot disk and to house my applications and files - effectively by-passing the weakest mac-mini link and as our primary music/media server o movies, music and photography. I've never used a RAID array before - usually individual multiple external hard drives. How do I go about using this RAID array for everything? Is it as simple as selecting this drive as the target or are there other hoops to jump through? I want to get as many answers as I can while everything is being shipped. I've had two HD crashes recently and I need the security of knowing all our data is safe...plus the additional speed and redundancy are very important.

You can get the maximum resolution for the Thunderbolt Display (2560x1440) on both monitors, but the graphic performance may decrease

  • WLC: which software-version support SHA2 certificates for Web Authentification and Web Management ?

    Hello,
I tried to install new SHA2 3th-Party certificates on our WLCs. There are old WiSM1-Boards and 2504 to support our old 1230 Access Points, running 7.0.251.2, which didn't install it, although the config manual for 7.6 and 8.0 say that SHA2 certificates are supported since 7.0.250.0. When I tried to install the SHA2-certificates I get the message "File transfer failed" an the log says:
    *TransferTask: Dec 12 13:22:14.394: #UPDATE-3-CERT_INST_FAIL: updcode.c:1869 Failed to install Webauth certificate. rc = 1
*TransferTask: Dec 12 13:22:14.394: #SSHPM-3-KEYED_PEM_DECODE_FAILED: sshpmcert.c:4085 Cannot PEM decode private key
I tried to install the same certificates on our WiSM2-Boards, running 7.4.121.0 and I failed too. The same certificates could be installed on a 2504 running 8.0.100 without any problems.
In all 3 cases I tried to install unchained certificates for web management and Level 3 chained certificates  for web authentication. I used the following guides to get the certificates (e.g. taken from the config manual 8.0.100):
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/4400-series-wireless-lan-controllers/109597-csr-chained-certificates-wlc-00.html
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless-mobility/wlan-security/70584-csr-wlc-00.pdf
Which software versions support SHA2 certificates and which didn't ? Is the a list for it ?
    Regards

    Hello,
I solved the problem. First I used a Debian Linux system with Openssl 1.0.1. After I searched the internet using one of the log messages above I found sites which mentioned to use Openssl 0.9.x. So I tried a productive and security fixes Debian Linux System running Openssl 0.9.8 and I succeeded. The wlcs accepted the certificate files and used it after a reboot. The Web GUI still shows a SHA1 Fingerprint, but the certificate signature Algorithm is SHA2:
    Signature Algorithm: sha256WithRSAEncryption
When you check the openssl.org homepage Openssl 0.9.8 is still one of the actual version of openssl and is still available and fixed. But the Openssl Roadmap says:
"We don't want to have to maintain too many branches. This is likely to include a timescale for the EOL of version 0.9.8"
I don't know the differences between certificates made with openssl 0.9.8 and 1.0.1. Is there anybody who can explain it to me ?

  • I created thirty pages using ipages and my web manager is having difficulty placing them on my website, some change color, some slide off the screen.  Is there a place for problem solving for ipages and website?

Hi, I thoroughly enjoy the ipage program and prefer it to the similar one offered by Word.  But my web manager is having countless difficulties.  I converted everything to PDF's for him but several of the ipages are loading with a different backround color.  He says he has to meta tag each page since this cannot happen automatically.  On my Mac, the pages are loading after the navigation bar is selected, and it takes about three to four seconds.  On my iphone, however, each page takes at least eight seconds to load and then it slides right off the screen before it can be read.  I really want to continue using ipages to update my website but I am a rookie and do not understand why each ipage cannot simply open when someone goes to my website.  It would be great to do away with the loading of each page and I would like to also minimize any of my margins.  Thanks for any help on this strange matter.  Mary

Converting pages to pdf is not the usual way make a website.  You may want to try some other app where you can directly create the html which is the customary format for the web.

  • Transferring from XRaid to Promise Pegasus Thunderbolt RAID

We have an XRaid connected by fibre to an XServe running OSX Server 10.4.11. This is being replaced by a Mac Mini running Lion Server 10.7.3 with a Promise Pegasus 12TB Raid connected to it by Thunderbolt.
What I would like some advice with is, how best to transfer all the data (approximately 3TB) off the existing XRaid and onto the new Pegasus Raid without creating problems with permissions.
The approach that I was planning to use was to attach the XRaid to a Promise SANLink and in turn connect that via Thunderbolt to the available 2nd Thunderbolt connection. I am hoping this will then display the XRaid on the the Mac Mini as well as the Promise Pegasus. I then intend to drag the data from the old XRaid to the Promise Pegasus.
Can anybody tell me whether this will work OK?
    Thanks in advance.

Depending on your set-up, you could have both on your network and use Terminal to copy from on server to the other. Using the ditto command will preserve permission information. • Promise Pegasus J4 striped raid - error-36

    Hi
I have a new macpro running mavericks
I have a promise pegasus j4 that I'm trying to set up as a striped raid..via thunderbolt
    I have 4x crucial m500's in it.
Using disk utility I can see the individual drives.
on each I erase date and format as mac os extended journaled
I've individually deleted the partitions on them
I've then selected the 4 drives and created a striped raid set (mac os extended journaled
Untitled striped raid set icon appears on my desktop.
Any data I write to it stops after about 2gb. error -36
I've written 100gb of data to each of the drives individually - all fine.
I've tried using softraid - same issue.
Drive Genius says i/o on disk
Crucial say it's a problem with the Promise Pegasus.
Promise say I'm creating the RAID wrong.
"Current Response : No this is not right. you need to delete the partition then create the RAID and then create the partition and formatting.
but once the Untitled striped raid set icon appears on my desktop there's no way to then create the partion and format - the options aren't there in disk utility - and now their tech support have gone silent.
    Advice appreciated
    Kindest'
    Jon

I encountered this error too, and it does indeed appear to be a weak power supply in the Pegasus J4. I am currently using the device with a sort of hackish work around...
SSDs use maximum current when writing; reading and idling draw far less power. So instead of defining one big RAID set, which causes all 4 drives to be writing nearly simultaneously on large transfers, I set the unit up as two independent RAID volumes, each comprised of two disks. This configuration works well for me since I do not do large writes to both volumes at the same time... this restriction may not be acceptable for everyone. As long as I don't write large amounts of data (over about 2 gigabytes) to both volumes at the same time, everything works reliably. This would tend to support the theory that the power supply just is not up to the task of keeping 4 M500s writing simultaneously for long periods of time...
Hope this helps someone (actually I really hope Promise improves the power supply - this unit is not exactly cheap and a wimpy power supply is pretty inexcusable).
BTW - does anyone know where you can download the Pegasus J4 FW updater software? I cannot find my original CD...

  • What means: Promise Pegasus compatible with Time Machine RAID-support

On the (Dutch) Apple shop it is stated at the Promise Pegasus page: the Promise Pegasus is compatible with Time Machine RAID-support.
What does this mean? What is then the "physical connection path" between the TC and the Thunderbolt Pegasus RAID system?

Thanks for responding to my question. I guess I'm not sure I understand your reply though. I had no problem installing OS X on the 3TB WD Caviar Green and WD assured me that if I wanted to install only Windows 7 on it, there would be no compatibility issues. The problem lies with wanting the drive to be dual-bootable I guess via using Boot Camp (I know of no other way to go about it). The tech at OWC (where I bought the drive) said he had never heard of any problems with being able to install both Mac and Windows OS on the drive. In fact, he gave the same reply as yours: most hard drives should be able to work perfectly fine with your Mac. It's just that I can't get XP or Windows 7 (32 bit or 64 bit) to install on the 2nd partition, making the drive I have now not dual-bootable. The tech said 2TB hard drives were different and should solve the problem but when I asked him for any discernible spec I could look for in shopping for a replacement drive, he couldn't give me one, i.e. most drives should be okay. I have paid to have the 3TB installed and will have to pay to get the drive taken out and a replacement put back in -- I want to make sure whatever drive I put in this time allows me to have 2 partitions: one for my Mac OSX system and the other for my Windows enviroment (either XP or Windows 7).
If there is a work-around not involving Boot Camp, please let me know. I thought the reason for using Boot Camp as opposed to Disk Utility to create the dual-bootable drive was the benefit of using Mac drivers on the Windows side.
If there is another way, I don't understand why PC world made this blanket statement:
"Mac users should know that WD's new drives do not support Boot Camp, therefore they cannot be used as a dual-boot hard drive."

proxy it through BMgr. Older versions of BMgr (3.6 or earlier) put in
default filter exceptions for reverse proxy (both port 80 and 443), but
later versions require you to add your own filter exceptions.
NetWare Web Manager - do you mean for Novonyz Web Server? If so, the port
used depends on what you configured for it. You could use static NAT, or
generic tcp proxy, or (I think) reverse proxy for whatever port Web Manager
is using. Newer web manager for Apache uses port 2200, I think.
