Promise Raid won't recognize all of my HD space??!! HELP

I have the MSI 845 Ultra board with the promise RAID controller on it.  This is my first time using raid, so bear with me.   I purchased 2 80GB HD's for the purpose of striping to gain some speed.  I have them hooke up as masters 1 to each port, but the problem is that the controller/MB tells me that they are 33GB dirves!!  When I go into the configuration mode its all they show up as.  When I go into windows its all they show up as!!
I have tried to delete and recreate the array many times with no luck.  I have tried to find some setting in the BIOS which would let me change the size, but no luck....
Do I have to individually go and format them on a normal channel 1st before hooking them up to the RAID?
Is there something I'm missing here besides 100GB of space??!
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Master on Samsung should be |::: with the orientation being |----IDE----||jumpers||power|
Did you by any chance set it to ||::   ?
This is the master with cylinder limitation mode which is intended to force 32GB on the drive.

  • Itunes library too large and won't recognize all files, just new ones but

still shows the old ones and their location in the library. I was keeping the library on the 2TB external drive. It got too large. Now I want to put the music on one of the 1TB drives and just the videos on the 2TB drive. From my PC, I can watch everything.
I cannot download to an iPod or iTouch anything from the 2TB drive. When I hit max capacity, I temporarily started saving on one of my internal 2TB drives (space wh*re, I know)before I hit on what my solution would be, and now I can only download from that location. Why?
What can I do? I even tried switching the library location back, and it won't recognize anything. I'm screwed, and I have all this material... YEARS of collecting...
    Someone please help me...

To clarify, currently on the 2TB external drive are music and videos. I want to split them up and hopefully save some space - and maybe foresee problems in the future when I hit max capacity on the 1TB external, and think about a 4GB (not the best option I see at this time) or another 2 2TB drives.
Doesn't the Library file just save locations when iTunes closes down so everything should be OK? I mean, the prog can recognize everything, it just won't download to anything, even if I move from the external drive an older movie to the new drive, it refuses to "see" the movie so I can download it.

  • Computer AND Device manger won't recognize Blackberry Curve 8330. .PLEASE Help

I have tried so many different things. . I am at the end of my rope.  My computer AND the Device Manager won't recognize my Blackberry Curve 8330 anymore.  It use to but then Sprint had me to do a hard reset and it hasn't done it since.  I am running Vista.  I have downloaded all different versions of the Desktop Manager, Blackberry Drivers etc.  I know that the USB works because it recognizes other devices.  Plus when I plug the blackberry in, the little plug shows up for about five seconds and disappears.  Plus when I unplug it and the blackberry screen is dark, it lights up so something is being recognized somewhere.  This is frustrating because I don't have my contacts backed up and I am trying not to do a hard reset to lose them again.  I have tried this on two different computers running Vista and the other XP.  I get the same result with both.  I don't know what happened to make both stop recognizing my blackberry.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • New itunes (11.0.2) won't recognize my older ipod... help?

I have an old ipod (I bought it 2007, 80G size, I think) and it has always worked just fine, so no need to invest in a new one. This week I accidentally updated my itunes software. I had always avoided updating it for fear it would make my old ipod obsolete. Now, the new itunes won't recognize my older ipod. It does show up in my finder as a disk drive, but it is not recognized in itunes. I am assuming it has something to do with the old not being compatible with the new, but I have no idea how to remedy the problem. Is there a way to dump the new itunes and reload an older version that is compatible with older ipods? I find this kind of planned obsolesence really frustrating. There was nothing wrong with my ipod device before I regrettably updated the itunes software on my laptop (MacBookPro OS10.6.8) Any tips on how to get the ipod working with the laptop without buying a new ipod would be greatly appreciated!

well, I am surprised, but i follwed apple's ipod troubleshooting guide step by step and my problem was solved!
Restarted ipod, restarted computer and voila!
    Phew.

  • ITunes won't load all the way...Help??

My iTunes store comes up, bar loads half way, no error message. It is only the white screen. I'm on Windows 7, and I have tried reinstalling it, restoring, repairing and uninstalling completely. I'm out of ideas. Can anyone help me? I can access my account, but I can't get anywhere else. The bar just stops loading. I've tried running diagnostics, but every time I do that, iTunes becomes non-responsive.

I've tryied installing iTunes 7 like 8 different ways and it won't install all the way each time it stops at "Resigtering modules"
by any chance, do you have SpyCatcher antispyware software installed on that PC? in quite a number of these "registering modules" hangs, modules installed by SpyCatcher have been interfering with the registration of the itunes modules.
if you do have SpyCatcher, try uninstalling SpyCatcher altogether prior to an itunes install. if the itunes install then goes through properly, you can reinstall SpyCatcher afterwards.

  • IPhoto won't recognize all ANY photos in folder

HELP! I consider myself fairly Mac savy, and yet I'm at a total loss on this one!
I have my iPhoto Library folder on an external drive. Somehow , there was a corrutpion and now iPhoto says/shows I have NO PHOTOS in my library. All my photos/files (over 8,000 of them) and in the iPhoto Library folder unharmed. I just CAN'T get iPhoto to recognize them.
    Here's what I've tried so far --
HOLDING DOWN OPTION KEY WHILE LAUNCHING to reselect folder.
HOLDING DOWN OPTION AND APPLE KEY TO REBUILD EVERYTHING
    DUMPING THE PREF. FILE
I'm hoping against hope that I won't have to reimport ALL my files! Say it isn't so!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    HI robert,
I'm not going to say anything! :^(
but if need be (and I think there is) here are the instructions for creating a new library.
How many images do you have in your library?
Do you mind losing albums, keywords, comments?
    If not...
    close iPhoto
-rename your old library to iPhoto Library_old
-launch iPhoto with the Option key depressed until you get a message screen and choose to create a new library
    -name the new library
-once the new library is open...
-double click the old iPhoto Library folder on the external to open it
-the two main folders you will need to import are the Original folder and the Modified folder (only if you want to import the edited images).
-the Originals folder has all your originals photos unedited. the Modified folder has all images that you have edited, rotated, cropped, etc.
-Drag these two folders to the desktop
-If you want to save the edited image, find it in the roll in the Modified folder and drag it into the roll of the same name in the Originals folder. It will replace the originals and now will be the original.
-If you don't care to save any edited images, then don't import the Modified folder into iPhoto or don't bother replacing the edited image with the original image like I just described.
-If you import the Originals folder into iPhoto you will have all your originals in their named rolls.
-If you import the Originals and Modified folders into iPhoto, you will have all of the being in the originals folder in the finder. The roll with the same name as the other will have a _1 appended to it's name (in the finder)
-the roll from the originals will be next to the same roll from the Modified folder within iPhoto. You can then delete any of the images from there if you want.
I know this might sound confusing but it really isn't.
Get back if any of this sounds like something you might want to do.

  • Itunes deleted in computer update. New version won't recognize all CD music

As stated, computer upgraded by individual. Itunes did not come over. Songs would not play at all so I downloaded a newer Itunes than I had before (old version was at least 3 to 4 years old). Newer version installed was 7. All music on the computer in the itunes file was copied from personal CD collection (bought new from local stores over the years, nothing jacked or contraband). The CD music was "converted" to Apple specs as of 3 or 4 years ago and all played fine in the old Itunes. Most all of the music was recognized in the newer Itunes and playable but many were not. Noticed the playable ones listed twice so deleted the copy that would not play BUT all songs not listed twice. Did I interrupt some kind of verification/update somehow. I did not show anything running as an update, no wait or loading bars, etc. At any rate I know very little (obviously) about Itunes stuff, just what I learned when I originally copied the cd's to sync to my husband's ipod. I just want to play the music while I am on the computer and download to his Ipod Nano. Any help on how to "fix" the ones that won't play or resume any kind of "update" that might have been in progress would be appreciated.

itunes actually sells you music you "really" own
The iTunes Store has no "subscription" model; all tracks you purchase are yours forever. Most tracks in the iTunes Store now come without copy protection, though there are still tracks that are copy-protected and so can only be played on an Apple player or burned to audio CD (which will work as does any normal audio CD). You can tell the tracks that lack copy protection by the "+" symbol next to the price in the iTunes Store.
From there it's up to you whether it will be more cost-effective and desirable for you to purchase an iPod and those tracks you don't have in an unprotected format or to get another Zune.

  • MacBook Pro mid2010 won't recognize all 8GB new RAM

I recently purchased 8GB (2x4GB Crucial sticks) RAM and installed them into my computer but it won't boot.  I get the S.O.S. beep at boot with both new sticks in.
I put both original RAM sticks back in and it booted just fine,
I also tried to mix by putting one (new) 4GB stick and one (original) 2GB stick and it was able to boot just fine, even recognized 6GB RAM!
This tells me that the computer is able to read the RAM just fine, but I'm wondering why it won't work with both new sticks in there, please help!

Usually means the memory you bought is not fully compatible. Perhaps you purchased modules with different specs from what Apple recommends.
    Maximum Memory
    8.0 GB
    Memory Slots
    2 - 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
Or you may just need to try a different brand.

  • Imac won't recognize all files on external.....

Hi guys, fairly new to apple here so this is prolly an easy fix. I have a late 06 early 07 17 in imac running 10.4.11 Problem is, i recently purchased a seagate 1TB external hard drive. Well, Mac reads all of my pictures, folder with audio books..... it reads music and movie folders, but reads music and movies as empty with no contents. I can plug the same hard drive back into my pc laptop and it works perfectly all files are present...... please help, any ideas or fixes will be greatly appreciated.....

A drive purchased new will likely be formatted NTFS. Tiger can read NTFS but can't write to it. I'm guessing this may present problems when trying to create a Mac directory of the files actually present on that drive.
    Various options.
Format drive (backup files first!!) to FAT32. Downside is FAT32 has file size limit of 4GB so no good if used for huge files (many small still OK). Also FAT32 can't be repaired by Mac disc repair tools.
Format drive to Mac Extended. Downside is PC can't read drive unless you get special software for PC.
Uh, I think there's a third options which is software to enable Mac to work with NTFS but I don't recall it being an ideal solution.

  • Won't recognize all my external drives.

Couple of years ago I built my pc with lots of help form this forum. One little issue I have always dealt with was my WD My Book external drives.
I'm using a GA-X58A-UD3R MOBO, i7 950 cpu. My hard drives show up like this...
    Hard Disk Drives (7)
    Local Disc (C)
    My Book (J) - 1tb
    Raid A (M) - 2tb
    Raid B (N) - 2tb
    Video Music Images (O) - 2tb
    Back Up (P) - 1tb
WD Media Ctr (T) - an old 250g WD external drive
My problem is I have 2 WD My Book Drives and only one shows up. If I want to use the other My Book drive, I turn one off and turn the other on, then reboot.
How can I get both drives to show up so I can access either without the on/off, reboot thing?
    Thanks,
    Jay

Go to Disk Management > Storage and assign a drive letter to the drive not recognized.  I have to do this whenever I have more than one of my WD My Book externals connected at the same time in Windows 7.

  • Apple configurator won't recognize all connected devices

I am trying to set up and use configurator on a macbook with a classroom cart of 30 ipads, they were previously managed through itunes but I'd like to wipe over them all with my profile/setup I have in configurator. I have all 30 devices connected via usb in the cart but configuator only detects 15. I have double checked that all the connections are properly in place. Am I doing something wrong or missing a step?

The solution is easier than you would think. I, too, had this problem - it took me three days to finally realize why. Configurator only recognized 12 out of the 30 iPads I had in my cart. I checked to make sure that all the white plugs were plugged in to the hub (these plugs can be pulled out easily, and if you never take out the trays to check you will never know that this has happened). It appeared that all the plugs were plugged in. I then re-connected the iPads, but still Configurator only recognized 12 iPads in the cart. At that point I checked the two power cords going in to the hubs - one of them was loose. I pushed the loose plug in tighter, connected my iPads, and BOOM! - Configurator recognized all of the iPads.
I am not sure why the cord going in to the hub became loose - the hub is in a location where nobody can mess with it. If you ever have this problem, check ALL the plugs to make sure one is not loose.

  • ITunes won't recognize all of my music, what to do?

when i download itunes and have it search my computer it will only show 667 songs. I have over 1500 in my library. So what is going on? I've tried to manually add each folder/file to the file but it never shows, even after a restart.

Is the music in question selected to sync?

  • ITunes 7.1.1 won't recognize iPod and gets stuck.  Help needed!

Since I updated to version 7.1.1, iTunes does not recognize my iPod (a 15GB Model M9460LL). I can work with iTunes before I connect the iPod, but when I do connect it, iTunes freezes up: the beach ball spins endlessly, and the iPod screen stays on "do not disconnect." I can't eject the iPod (it shows up on Finder but not on iTunes), nor force quit the application or the machine. I have to turn the machine off with the on/off button, then unplug the iPod even though its screen says "do not disconnect" (no apparent adverse effects from this, so far).
In all this, I don't get any error messages.
I thought the problem might be with some podcasts. I deleted most of them and set the podcast settings to "update manually."
I had been having some intermittent problems before this upgrade, but nothing like this.
    Any advice?

    Exactly the same thing here...
Brand new iPod U2 version, it is no longer recognized by iTunes 7, (the hard drive is mounted in the Windows Explorer)
When on one time (of many) it was recognized, I tried the 1.2 firmware update... took hours, never completed...
Even tried on another system with a fresh XP/itunes 7 installation, exactly the same symptoms as in my work laptop.
The ipod diagnostics says: Ipod connection failed:

  • My comuter won't recognize my Cosmos 3. Need help.

I want to download my pictures on to my computer but no matter what I try I can't access my phone through my computer. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I ran into this problem recently where the iPod won't play continuously through the videos. It had been playing through a playlist - it only worked as a playlist of videos - but now it won't even do that. I suspect, although I'm not certain, it may have to do something with the upgrade to the most recent iPod update that came with the iTunes 7 update. Either that, or something else may have gone wrong because I recall seeing a Sleep Timer option after the update on the iPod, but now that is gone as well. I tried to reinstall the iPod software, but it only gave the option to uninstall rather than reinstall or repair it. I've had this 60Gb iPod for a few months. Hopefully some light will be shed on this situation soon.

  • My IPhone won't sync all of my pictures! Help?

I've checked off an album in ITunes which I'd like to have on my IPhone. The album's got 5840 pictures but when I sync the phone it'll only sync about 4900 of them. Itunes says my phone has 5,47GB left, so why is it a problem??
    Can anyone help me??
    Annika.

All apps in your iTunes library on your computer are stored in a Mobile Applications folder in the iTunes folder located in your Music folder. If you transferred the iTunes folder from your Music folder on your PC to the Music folder on your Mac, the apps should have been transferred with it.
