Promote access relationships but not users

Hi everybody,
I am learning BOBJ security on the fly. Fun fun fun!!
I've set up the security the way the clients want it, and now we're trying to figure out how we're going to administer it ongoing. We would like to be able to make changes in development and then promote them into quality and production. I'd like to be able to change and promote the following:
- Access levels
- User groups
- Assignment of user groups and access levels to BOBJ components - applications, universes, folders, etc.
- WITHOUT transporting the users assigned to the user groups and / or components in development
It seems like LCM is the way to go even though we're having some issues with it. Is there a way to do what we want using LCM?
Thanks!
Krysta

The problem is, I can't find it. I am using the AirPort App on my ipad and I can't find any Guest configuration. Am I looking in the wrong place?
Apple assumes that  you will be connecting the AirPort Express to a simple modem....not a modem/router or gateway type of device, or network server.
The Guest Network feature can only be enabled when the AirPort is set as the router controlling DHCP and NAT for the network.
If the AirPort is in Bridge Mode, the option to enable the Guest Network will not even appear in AirPort Utility.
On your iPad.....
Tap to open AirPort Utility
Tap the AirPort Express, then tap Edit
Is there a setting for Guest Network here?
If yes, tap to continue the set up
If no, tap the Advanced tab at the bottom
Tap DHCP and NAT
Tap Router Mode
If the setting for DHCP and NAT is set to Off (Bridge Mode), the Guest Network feature cannot be enabled in this setting.....which is the correct setting for the AirPort on your network. It's a Catch 22.
You might be able to configure the AirPort to operate in DHCP and NAT mode on the network, but there will be challenges to overcome....namely DHCP conflicts and Double NAT issues.

  • I have a time capsule connected directly to fiber connection. I have connected a windows server directly to TC and configured it for remote desktop connection. From my interanet I can access srvr but not from my home. What config I need on TC?

    I have a time capsule directly connected to fibre optic point out. All pcs and macs are connected wirelessly to the internet. I have connected a windows server pc to TC. When configured for Remote desktop connection, I can access windows server from within interanet but don't know how to access it from internet. I guess I need to change some settings in TC to get some ip adress for the remote desktop connection from my home. Anyone who can help me out? Appreciate it.

    I am a little lost now.. I have read again your title and your first post.. and they seem inconsistent.
    In the title you state.
    From my interanet I can access srvr but not from my home.
    Interanet is not a word I know.. I assumed intranet...are you talking about internet or intranet? And just to be clear say WAN or LAN.. !! Is your home part of the interanet??
    In the first post you state,
    I can access windows server from within interanet but don't know how to access it from internet.
    Now this is more normal.. the issue is not in the home at all, it is accessible from there but fails from internet. If this is correct, then you can do a few obvious things to determine where the problem is.
    But first I need to know are you actually testing from a different internet connection to your home lan.. you are not just trying the public IP from inside the LAN as that will fail due to the TC not doing NAT Loopback.
    I am also assuming the TC is the only router in the network, and has the public IP on the WAN interface.
    And I am also assuming you have turned on the ping responder and you can actually ping your public ip from the internet and get a response. This helps no end in figuring out where there are issues. Strange but I have no idea if there is a ping responder in the TC WAN so you might need to forward that as well. Also if you have a dynamic public ip address are you using dyndns or no-ip or some other service to connect.
    1. Test bypassing the TC.. plug the internet connection straight into the windows server,, and test if you have access. If yes, the TC is the problem.. if not, your setup on the windows server is wrong.. look at firewall in particular.
    2. Assuming from test 1 the TC is the problem, Post the screen shots of the port forwarding setup for us to look at.. that is by far the easiest way to check it out.
    There are lots of references to port forwarding in the TC.. eg
    http://must-know-mac.blogspot.com/2008/07/how-to-port-forward-time-capsule.html
    The things that generally go wrong are firewall on the computer that is accepting the port.
    The ISP doesn't allow connections on a particular port. (not likely in your case)
    The router is behind another router.. double NAT will kill any port forward.
    Upnp has already allocated a port.. not an issue as TC doesn't use upnp although a reboot of everything after you set port forwards is well worth it.. amazing how things don't stick properly without a reboot.
    IP on the receiving device is not static and so changes.
    Not enough or right type of ports are opened. This is always messier than it looks as one port is often not enough for two way communications.

  • I can access Google, but not Gmail.

    Hi guys. I've been having trouble with my internet connection for as long as I've had my Mac (one year). For the longest time, I've repeatedly had to click the icon for Airport and then turn it off and back on again to recover my connection to Google Gmail and Google docs. These are the first sites to disappear, later I have trouble accessing other sites, this is corrected by turing off and then on Airport. But that is very frustrating, and I often have to do it over and over again. Also, I'm puzzled by the fact that my Skype connection is rarely bothered when access to others sites drops.
    I've been reading as much as I can find and trying the airport utility. Clearly I am stupid because things went from bad to worse. Now I can access Google, but not Gmail. I can access most parts of Apple.com, but when I tried to purchase the upgrade to OS 10.6, I couldn't view the page images. I found the same problem on a few other sites. When I tried to access Linkedin, I could get to the login page, but no further.
    In each case, I get the usual message: Safari can’t open the page “https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=mail&passive=true&rm=false& continue=http%3A%2F%2Fmail.google.com%2Fmail%2F%3Fhl%3Den%26tab%3Dwm%26ui%3Dhtml %26zy%3Dl&bsv=1eic6yu9oa4y3&scc=1&ltmpl=default&ltmplcache=2&hl=en” because Safari can’t establish a secure connection to the server “www.google.com”.
    I've tried resetting Airport back to the factory settings. Now all I get is the blinking yellow light - I'm not sure what that means.
    I'm now connected via hardwire, but access is limited to very few sites, such as this one and Google. I can search google, but I can't access gmail. I can access everything on my windows computer through the same wired network.

    I am having this same problem, but it's not related to parental controls. I have to keep turning the airport on and off as well. Here (http://www.mac-help.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9802) is a post I made over at mac-help.. still waiting for a reply.
    What I've noticed is, the DNS is resolving correctly, but I cannot access certain sites. Regardless, I've tried Open DNS servers and still get the same result. It's not a specific browser. Certain sites go down in a few minutes after visiting them. Some go down faster than others. And others don't go down at all. Sites I've had problems with are Apple.com (to make this post I've had to turn the airport on and off continually), Gmail.com, Google.com, while Google.ca works fine.
    A solution would be great..

  • Skype for Business - Manage the .msi but not Users...

    We are considering deploying Skype for Business across our large, international organization.  Two questions:
    Can we disable the File Transfer function in the .msi we push out to everyone?  Our concern is data leakage of confidential information.
    Our central IT shared services group wants to manage the configuration and deployment of the .msi but not be tasked with managing everyone's Skype accounts and billing/funding issues.  Does Skype account creation and funding of those accounts remain with the individual Skype user when Skype for Business is used?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
    From your description above, did you use Lync 2013 basic version?
    Please check if Windows 7 update to the latest version firstly.
    As Holger Bunkradt said above, please try to install the update manually.

  • Can anyone tell me what I need to set up iPhone 4? I have my email address and password but not user ID.  What is this?

    Do I need a user ID to set up a new iPhone. I have email address and password but not sure what the user ID is?

    User ID is an  Apple ID you use to buy paid or free stuff from the Apple Store, iTunes Store...
    It is in no way essential to use your iPhone, but it is indeed needed to purchase/download free or paid Apps, songs, books and so on.
    You can set-up a free Apple ID from your phone, or on →  https://appleid.apple.com

  • After syncing a replacement iPad for the first time, my apps have a "waiting " on the screen I can access them but not on opening screen

    After syncing a replacement iPad for the first time, my apps now have a"waiting" message . I can still access from settings but not on the opening app page

    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
    If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

  • WRT160N Useable as a switch/access point but not as an internet gateway?

    Greetings,
    Can anyone tell me if it is possible to use a
    WRT160N wireless N router as just a switch and wireless LAN access point and NOT as an internet Gateway?  I have a LAN that is not connected to the internet that uses a Linksys switch and I need to get a wireless access point setup so that I can attach a computer wirelessly to this LAN.    Occassionally I connect the swich to another router that does have internet access, but in general the LAN is not connected to the internet router.
    Thanks!

    You can use WRT160N as a switch...Connect the LAN to the Ethernet port of the router and change the ip address of the linksys router in the range of the LAN ip.

  • Orphan users and deleting logins but not users

    Hello there,
    First off I'm sorry if this was already posted. I've researched for the last two hours and can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for.
    So its to my understanding then when you delete a Server Login, if you have a user that uses that Login and THAT LOGIN only, once you delete the login the user is now an orphan user.
    I've been running the orphan user sp (
    USE <database_name>;
    GO;
    sp_change_users_login @Action='Report';
    GO;
    but recently I've deleted a login, the user still exists on the database, but it should now be an orphan user right? I know for a fact this user is not in any other group, and it should be an orphan user. So why isn't it? :(

    Hi Krystina,
    Your question may be that sp_change_users_login didn't detect an orphan user scenario? If so, I would recommend checking sys.server_principals and sys.database_principals to verify for certain (and if you have a reproduction of the exact issue, please post
    here).
    Here is a demo that walks through the by-design behavior (dropping login will not equate to dropping a user, and that user will be an orphaned user).
    USE [master]
    GO
    -- Create the login
    CREATE LOGIN [TestUser] WITH PASSWORD=N'Test!!1234',
    DEFAULT_DATABASE=[master], CHECK_EXPIRATION=OFF, CHECK_POLICY=OFF;
    GO
    -- Create a database
    CREATE DATABASE [Test];
    GO
    -- Create the user in that database
    USE [Test]
    GO
    CREATE USER [TestUser] FOR LOGIN [TestUser] WITH DEFAULT_SCHEMA=[dbo];
    GO
    -- Drop the * login * (not user)
    DROP LOGIN [TestUser];
    -- You should no longer see this long at the SQL Server instance (server) scope
    SELECT [SP].[name], [SP].[principal_id], [SP].[sid], [SP].[type],
           [SP].[type_desc], [SP].[is_disabled], [SP].[create_date],
           [SP].[modify_date], [SP].[default_database_name],
           [SP].[default_language_name], [SP].[credential_id]
    FROM sys.[server_principals] AS [SP]
    WHERE name = 'TestUser';
    -- But we didn't drop the user, so you * should * still see it within the database (by-design)
    USE [Test];
    GO
    SELECT [DP].[name], [DP].[principal_id], [DP].[type], [DP].[type_desc],
           [DP].[default_schema_name], [DP].[create_date], [DP].[modify_date],
           [DP].[owning_principal_id], [DP].[sid], [DP].[is_fixed_role]
    FROM sys.[database_principals] AS [DP]
    WHERE name = 'TestUser';
    -- And your orphan proc call will report it as well
    EXEC sp_change_users_login @Action='Report';

  • My iPod Touch 4G connects to access point, but not the internet.

    I'm stuck for ideas, so any help is appreciated! I've gone through the troubleshooting guide, and none of that helped. I've reset my network settings, forgetting the specific network, resetting the router, resetting the iPod, restoring it to factory settings, upgrading to the latest firmware, and nothing has worked.
    Sometimes, if I forget the network and reset my iPod, it may (but not always) work for that session. Whenever I try again, I have to repeat this process and HOPE it works.
    I can't try on another network because that's not available to me and won't be for a while.
    This happened really randomly. Nothing changed, and it's driving me mad. Any help is appreciated a lot!

    Does it connect to the internet with other networks?
    - If so that indicates a problem with your router. Likely time for a new router.
    - If not that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • MS AD in SAP EP SP12 (groups are found but not users)

    Hi,
    I have a problem with configuring MS AD for SAP EP SP12 (6.40). At the moment, in the portal I cannot logon with my AD users, but I can search for groups in AD. I've tried various different .xml config files, but now I am using the same settings as I did with an existing working SP2 portal.
    I've looked at the documentation in http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2004/helpdata/en/cc/cdd93f130f9115e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
    and if I use the config tool->UME LDAP Data <b>both the connection test and the authentication test works with my samaccountname. </b>
    When I trace the authentication test I see the following packets:
    1. BIND as my user defined in the settings
    2. BIND successful
    3. Search with BASEDN: OU=PEOPLE,DC=COMPANY,DC=NET
       Filter: (&(objectclass=User)(samaccountname=dapa))
       Attribute: objectclass
    4. Response to search, found user
       Distinguised name: CN=Dagfinn Parnas,OU=Stavanger,OU=PEOPLE,DC=COMPANY,DC=NET
       Attribute: objectClass
       Value:top
       Value: person
       Value: organizationalPerson
       Value: user
    5. Bind request with DN: CN=Dagfinn Parnas,OU=Stavanger,OU=PEOPLE,DC=COMPANY,DC=NET and my password
    6. Bind successful
    When I try to login to the portal, I can see the portal communicates with the AD server and sends the following packets:
    1. 1. BIND as my user defined in the settings
    2. BIND successful
    3. Search with BASEDN: OU=PEOPLE,DC=COMPANY,DC=NET
       Filter: (&(objectclass=User)(samaccountname=dapa))
       Attribute: cn
       Attribute: description
       Attribute: uid
    4. Response to search, found user
       Distinguised name: CN=Dagfinn Parnas,OU=Stavanger,OU=PEOPLE,DC=COMPANY,DC=NET
       Attribute: cn
           Value: Dagfinn Parnas
    5. No more traffic
    So it seems that it finds the correct user, but the portal doesn't do a bind against AD with this user and log me on to the portal afterwards.
    <b>Could the problem be that only the cn attribute is sent back (not the description and uid which I asked for as well)?</b>
    I tried setting mapping the uniquename to cn also(as described in http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2004/helpdata/en/1a/2bee408a63732ae10000000a155106/content.htm), but to no avail.

  • SQL query works in access 2000 but not through JDBC

    Hello to all as my first posted message, I have a bit of a pickle on my hands. I have a query which is critical to for my application to function.
    In Access 2000
    SELECT sb.SeatName
    FROM SeatBooking sb, Movie m, MovieSession ms, Booking b
    WHERE m.MovieId = ms.MovieId
    AND ms.MovieSessionId = b.MovieSessionId
    AND b.BookingId = sb.BookingId
    AND ms.DateOfSession = #2003/04/16 07:15:00 PM#;
    This query works fine. When I insert it into my code
    String query = "SELECT sb.SeatName \n" +
    "FROM SeatBooking sb, Movie m, MovieSession ms, Booking b \n" +
    "WHERE m.MovieId = ms.MovieId \n" +
    "AND ms.MovieSessionId = b.MovieSessionId \n" +
    "AND b.BookingId = sb.BookingId \n" +
    "AND ms.DateOfSession = #" +
    cp.getMovieSessionAt(i).getTrueTimeOfSession() + "#;";
    The last line of code returns #2003/04/16 07:15:00 PM#; Which is the exact same as in Access.
    To rule out some possibilities
    - there are other less complicated queries which access the same database but work fine. so my code seems to be ok
    - I have tried to use Format() on ms.DateOfSession to match the return value of the java statement (Which is a general date in Access in the format of 16/04/2003 7:15:00 PM)
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Hi Simon,
    On my Windows XP system with J2SE SDK version 1.4.1_02 and Micro$oft Access 2002, I have the following table:
    column name    column type
    id             Number
    name           Text
    updated        Date/TimeUsing the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver (that is part of the J2SE distribution), the following code uses the JDBC "escape" syntax -- and it works.
    import java.sql.*;
    public class JdbcOdbc {
      public static void main(String[] args) {
        Connection dbConn = null;
        ResultSet rs = null;
        Statement stmt = null;
        String sql =
          "SELECT * FROM Table1 WHERE updated = {ts '2003-04-13 07:53:23'}";
        try {
          Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
          dbConn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:db1");
          stmt = dbConn.createStatement();
          rs = stmt.executeQuery(sql);
          if (rs.next()) {
            System.out.println("id      = " + rs.getInt(1));
            System.out.println("name    = " + rs.getString(2));
            System.out.println("updated = " + rs.getTimestamp(3));
        catch (SQLException sqlEx) {
          System.err.println("Database operation failed.");
          sqlEx.printStackTrace();
        catch (ClassNotFoundException cnfEx) {
          System.err.println("JDBC driver class not found");
          cnfEx.printStackTrace();
        finally {
          if (rs != null) {
            try {
              rs.close();
            catch (SQLException sqlEx) {
              System.err.println("ERROR: Failed to close result set");
              sqlEx.printStackTrace();
          if (stmt != null) {
            try {
              stmt.close();
            catch (SQLException sqlEx) {
              System.err.println("ERROR: Failed to close statement");
              sqlEx.printStackTrace();
          if (dbConn != null) {
            try {
              dbConn.close();
            catch (SQLException sqlEx) {
              System.err.println("ERROR: Failed to close DB connection");
              sqlEx.printStackTrace();
    }More details about the JDBC escape syntax are available here:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/guide/jdbc/getstart/statement.html#999472
    Hope this helps you.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Trying to access WRT300N, but not successfull.

    Hi everyone! I was advised to replace my router because it is showing signs of hardware failure. Normally this would be easy but I have an issue. The guy who setup everything for us forgot the information he used to setup the router. He also never gave us this information. This was all done before I started working with the company. I would have surely stored it in a google doc or something. I have tried a bunch of company passwords as well as the defaults. Can I send the router into cisco/linksys to get it unlocked? Or is there are way to get get the forwarding information from the router?
    I need to get all of the port forwarding settings out of the router. These settings allow us to access our exchange server outlook web access. And we have 2 company portals setup as well that are internet accessible.
    really, really, really appreciate any help!

    The default password to login to the setup page of the Linksys router is admin. If its not working then you can try some of your common passwords or on your main computer you can check for the Linksys folder on the desktop. If the linksys folder is available on your computer you can open it and get the password for your router.

  • VB 2008, CR component and MS Acc: how to access with database(not user) pwd

    These are the detail of the query:
    1. MS Access 2003 and later database via OLE DB provide for entry of a u201Cdatabase passwordu201D to provide additional protection.
    2. In VB 2005 and in VB2008 environment I have managed to establish a connection with a database password and open recordsets using ADO connection. See code below.
    Note. stPassword is user password and stDBPassword is database password with the following code:
    With cnn
              'set connection string
              .ConnectionString "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Password=" & stPassword & ";Data Source=T:\CPI.mdb;User ID=" & stUser & ";Persist Security Info=False;" & "Jet OLEDB:System database=t:\cpi.mdw;Jet OLEDB:Database Password=" & stDBPassword
              .Open()
    End With
    3. When using Crystal Reports component supplied with VS 2008 I can only provide USER NAME and USER PASSWORD. No information is available how and where to enter DATABASE PASSWORD to the Crystal Reports component. As a result, Crystal Reports Viewer starts to run. Obviously access is denied because no DATABASE PASSWORD has been provided to the component. A common dialog comes up to enter database password.
    4. User does not necessarily need know the DATABASE password and I am not interested in providing the database password to every user who runs reports. In this project database password serves as a form of protection from tampering with the database structure and contents through the use MS Access to access the database.
    5. Here is the code to demonstrate logon via Crystal Component described above:
    Imports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine
    Imports CrystalDecisions.Shared
    And then in a sub:
        Dim cnnInfo As ConnectionInfo = New ConnectionInfo()
        'cnnInfo.DatabaseName = cnn.DefaultDatabase
        cnnInfo.UserID = stUser
        cnnInfo.Password = stPassword
    No place to input DATABASE password!!!
    Does anyone know how can I input database password or provide a connection string or maybe ADO connection object which is opened within the project code.

    It seems like it is not possible to set the DB level password with the CR Visual Studio bundled version (as stated in the following KB c2010267). You would need to use the full version, and use the code below:
    Symptom
    A VB .NET application uses Crystal Reports for Visual Studio .NET as the reporting development tool.
    A report is created that connects to a password protected Microsoft Access Database.
    How do you pass a password (for database level security) or a password and user ID (for user level security) at runtime using the different connection methods(Native/ODBC/OLEDB)?
    Resolution
    To pass the database level password or a user level
    userid/password at runtime, use the following code
    sample:
    'Add the following namespaces to the top of the code
    'page
    Imports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine
    Imports CrystalDecisions.Shared
    Dim crReportDocument As New ReportDocument()
    Dim crConnectionInfo as New ConnectionInfo
    Dim crtableLogoninfo As New TableLogOnInfo()
    Dim CrTables As Tables
    Dim CrTable As Table
    crReportDocument = New CrystalReport1()
    With crConnectionInfo
    <**Insert code from below depending on the type of
    connection and the version of Crystal Reports you are
    using**>
    End With
    CrTables = crReportDocument.Database.Tables
    For Each crTable in crTables
    crTableLogonInfo.ConnectionInfo =
    crConnectionInfo
    CrTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogOnInfo)
    Next
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource =
    crReportDocument
