Promotion question

Hi all,
A while back there was a promotion for college students: purchase a new Mac and get a free iPod mini (or the price of a mini off another iPod purchase).
I know its pretty late in the game to be asking this, but does anyone know if its still possible to claim this rebate for a laptop/iPod combo purchased in August?
If so, any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
~Alex

Well, there is no free ipod offer, but you can get a student discount.
At the online store's main page, on the bottom right, there is a Student Discount link.
That will bring the price of a 4GB nano to about $229, 2GB nano to $179, 30GB ipod to $279, 60GB ipod to $379
I am not sure about these prices, so don't count on my pricing information being exacty accurate.

  • 5/4/14-5/10/14 Movie/Video Promotion Question

In this week's ad, there was a promotion for a $5 coupon on your next TV or movie purchase $9.99 and up when you buy any TV title $9.99 and up.  Today, I purchased the Simpsons Season 16 on BluRay for $19.99 and I just noticed that I didn't get the promo code printed on the receipt as stated in the ad for $5 off a future movie purchase.  I wasn't asked for my e-mail address ad it states in the ad either.  Can I get this promo code emailed to me?  Thanks for your assistance!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello gilmar,
Let me start by saying: “D’oh!”
When you purchased a qualifying movie or TV show, we should have asked for your e-mail address at the register so that we could send you the $5.00 coupon to be used on your next movie or TV show purchase.  Once processed, your receipt should have reminded you about the code with its 6/21/14 expiration date as it would’ve needed to be printed off to use in-store.
Using your e-mail address on the forum, I pulled up your receipt and noticed the reminder wasn’t on it. It appears we failed to include you in the promotion you qualified for and I’m sorry for that oversight. It makes things a little complicated though since the promotion has concluded, but I appreciate you providing us the opportunity to correct this and have sent you a private message that we may discuss this further. You may view it by logging into the forum and clicking on the envelope in the upper right-hand corner.
    Thanks for posting!

  • Verizon Edge-- Note 4 $200 promotion Question!!!

    Dear Customer Service Rep,
I preordered the Note 4 for Verizon Friday Sept 26th.  Now with an accepted phone trade in can I use that 200 credit towards the phone if I am going through the Edge program.  If not, would I have to purchase it out right using the 200 and the money I have to pay for it then get the edge plan?  If yes, is the price for the phone outright 699.99 like it is at verizon or is it more....If it is more how can I cancel my preorder and I will just go to a vzw store and preorder it there and just wait 4-8 wks for the 200 credit.
    Thanks,
    WRCupZ86

    Hi WRCupZ86,
Thanks for your interest in purchasing your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with us! It looks to be one impressive phone, so I can imagine how anxious you must feel to receive yours.
Regrettably, Best Buy gift cards cannot be used as payment towards Verizon Edge, Sprint Easy Pay, or AT&T Next plans. If you'd like to apply the trade-in gift card towards your Note 4, then you'll need to purchase the phone as a traditional upgrade (incurring any applicable activation fees). Full details on how Verizon Edge plans work can be found here:

    I hope this helps.

  • I BOOK G4 IPOD PROMOTION QUESTION

I was reading the rebate form for the free ipod mini with a ibook g4 purchase, and i noticed it said to include your sales receipt. i no longer have that, but have the invoice receipts. Is it ok to send these instead for the rebate?

Can you describe what happens when you boot from your diagnostic dvd's (Tech Tool, AHT, etc...). Another option is running fsck via Single User Mode. Restart and after you here the chime, hold command + s. You will see a bunch of white text on a black screen with prompt at the bottom waiting for you to type. Type */sbin/fsck -fy* into the prompt and press enter. Post what it says and to exit type restart or shutdown.

  • Bundle deal starting at 89.00

My current bundle, phone, Internet, and directv, is costing almost $200 a month. I saw a deal of 89.00 for phone(home), Internet, and uverse starting at 89.00. I'm definitely interested in saving some money ever month. Please let me know if this is available for me.

Disregarding the new customer promotion question, how can you tell if you may qualify and what does $89 cover? 1) to qualify need to be in a FTTN or FTTP area, meaning when you check your address can you receive Uverse IPTV service (not DirectTv). If cannot receive then your an ADSL2+ circuit most likely a 510 RG for connection. 2) you qualify for triple play (TV/Internet/VoIP), great... So what about that $89 deal. This is Ufamily, family friendly means no violent sports programming such as ESPN, need to move to u200 (+15) or higher package. Includes a single whole home DVR for (1) TV, each additional TV requires their own receiver at $9 per month, each. This is standard channel package, no HD, if desire HD channels add $10. For the typical 3 TV family desiring HD $89+9+9+10=$117 Now for the internet, this is the Elite (6M down/1M up), can move to Max 12/1.5 for additional $5 or Max Plus 18/1.5 for +$10.... If heavy internet usage expect probably better on Max Plus... $117+$10 internet increase=$127. The VoIP is 200 anytime minutes (less than 7 minutes per day) .07 minute charge overage,  if expect to make/receive a lot of calls better to go to unlimited for extra $10. $127+$10 unlimited calls= $137. Now below line fees, RG equipment fee $7+ local broadcast fee $3.99= $147.99Add possible local franchise fee (our area $5.60) plus taxes your area% expect about $165 a month for three TVs without sports (+15 u200) or movie package (+30 to u300). Conclusion 3 TVs on u300, HD/18M internet/ 200 minutes phone plus fees/taxes about $190. So the questions are 1) how many TVs, 2) do you need HD, 3) do you need more than sports provided by local channels, 4) do you need movie package, 5) what speed internet, 6) how much do you use a home phone? You can go to the Uverse website, bundles, build your own to see how numbers change.

  • Question regarding the $200 trade in credit promotion.

    Hello @Jayhrrett
    That’s a great question!
The $200 trade-in credit would be the max given. You can either receive it as an in-store credit towards a purchase or a promotion card.
For more information please visit our AT&T Buyback Program site.
    Thank you,
    Charise

Is the listed $200 credit towards a trade-in on top of the original trade in value of a phone, or the maximum amount?

  • LCM question: Error when updating/promoting universe

    Hi ya'll.
For some reason our universe got deleted in our Dev environment and we had to get a copy from Prod and copied it back Dev.
Now whe we are trying to migrate a report the Manage Dependencies function does not seem to work. It doesn't detect teh reports anymore. I did a check using the check relationships it doen't not grab any report anymore.
So what I did was manually included the universe in my objects list and when I promote i got thi serror message
Resolution Status=Copied, Dependency Status=All Required Dependencies Included, Commit Status=Commit attempted and failed, Promotion Status=Failure : Trying to create an object with duplicate name. Id = 6962
Any help is really appreciated. thanks.

One thing I noticed that the reports are no longer assocaited to a universe when I checked it in CMC. Is there a way to manually attach a universe to the report? I think this will solve the problem.
    Thanks.

  • Question re current 50% off movie packages promotion

quick question...at the current time, they are offering 50% off most of the combo premium movie packages (HBO, Cinemax, Starz, showtime, encore, etc.) it says half off the refular price for 12 months, then you pay the regular price starting month 13. my question was is that 12 months a contract? or can I cancel after 3 and not pay a penalty fee (my mom is having surgery and likes the xtra movie channels during her recoup time-about 3 months)....
does anyone know if the 50% off for 12 month is a term contract? I just hate calling verizon support becuase they try to sell you the world, and are persistant and stubborn, even after you refuse...I know they are salespeople and that's their job, but I can't stand it....call it a pet peeve I guess...and I do my best to avoid it...hence giving the forums a go before calling :-)
    TIA!

  • Promoted Links app Behaviour=Dialog Question

Greetings all. I have an issue with the Promoted Links app.  Here is the situation:
Site Collection created as a Publishing Site
Home changed to Page Layout – Blank Web Part Page
Have a Promoted Links app (titled Networking Actions) that has 1 item in it. This item opens a custom list from the site in dialog (Launch Behavior = Dialog).
This action works fine if I just open the Networking Actions app from all site content and click on the tile (it opens the list in dialog).
I add the Networking Actions app to the home page in a web part zone.
I click on the tile to open the list, nothing happens and I get the lovely exclamation ERROR ON PAGE in the lower left hand corner.
I change the Launch Behavior to NEW TAB or IN PAGE NAVIGATION and it works fine from the home page.
All security for all items on the site is setup to inherit from the site. Doesn’t matter where the user account is setup (Owner, Member or Visitor) it still will not work when launched from the web part zone.
I’d appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.  The Promoted Links app is super great, unless the dialog isn’t going to work as advertised.

    Hi ,
Promoted link webpart ,launch behavior is working fine in designer log in.
But for visitor sign in ,throws error
"sp.res.defaultdialogwidth is null or not an object ".
    <script type="text/javascript">
    if(typeof SP.UI.ModalDialog === 'undefined'){
        var script=document.createElement('script');
        script.setAttribute("type","text/javascript");
    script.setAttribute("src", "https://cdn.sharepointonline.com/3820/_layouts/15/sp.ui.dialog.js");
        document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(script);
    </script>
Above highlighted  url  error speciifies that url
"sp.res.defaultdialogwidth is null or not an object ".

  • Promotion forum question

Hi there! I am new to the Oracle Java forum, and I was wondering if there was a forum specifically dedicated to promotions of books, ebooks, and articles on Java Programming. If you could please send me a link to get me pointed in the right direction or just post a reply for me saying that there is no such section on this forum, in either case, I would be very grateful.
Thanks so much for your time!

  • Free Talk promotion with upgrade Question

    Scenario:
We have a family share plan.  GZone boulder on main line, EnV touch on family line.  Spoke with a rep last night via the instant messenger feature last night, and they told me that if I upgrade the Touch to a smartphone I do not qualify for the deal because it is a "feature" phone.  As of now, I don't have a data plan (grandfathered from before they were required).
    1. Is that correct?  I can't find anyplace that has all the technical details of the plan to check for myself.
    2.  If I activate an old phone on that line, will I then be able to upgrade to a smartphone and get the deal?
    3.  Is this all null and void because we get a government employee discount? (again I can't find the small print!)
Thanks for any and all help!
    -AJ

We just added a smart phone with the "Smart Phones Talk Free" credit and my understanding of this program offer is you have to add a smartphone on a secondary line, not the primary, and select the $29.99 unlimited data option for that line, and the contract fo this new or upgraded line has to be a 2 year contract.  We went from an eNV2 to a smartphone and the credit or feature is now showing on that line.  It is just a $9.99 credit on your account for the length of the 2 year contract/agreement.   I don't know if that helps or not but if you want to make sure I would suggest calling the customer service line and getting someone from tech support on the line and they can confirm for your specific situation.

  • How to get promoted properties from Request to Response in two way send port scenario.

I have a requirement to access the promotes properties in response pipeline, these promoted properties are promoted in Orchestration and they are available in Send pipeline, but not available in Receive pipeline. Please help us if we have any solution for
    this issue.
    Thanks
    Ramachandra

    Hi Ramachandra,
Obviously from above responses you would have got the point that this can’t be done out-of-box and you need to do custom. Also when you say “Get the message
from DB along with context properties.”, you do agree with this point.
One of the possible custom solutions is (Obviously in bespoken process, you can achieve it in many ways),
When send the message out to a solicit-response port, store those promoted properties in db along with the “correlation key” which you can get from the context of the request message like
“Correlation Token”  and “SPID”. So when the response comes back, you can either in the “inbound map” or in the receive pipeline (using custom component) populate/constructs the message by populating data from db, where will retrieve the
“Correlation Token”  and “SPID” values of the response message (it will have the same correlation value as in the request message), so you can use the value of correlation sets to get the values from db.

  • Questions before an internal lab POC (on old underperformant hardware)

    Hello VDI users,
NB: I initially asked this list of questions to my friends at the
SunRay-Users mailing list, but then I found this forum as a
    more relevant place.
It's a bit long and I understand that many questions may have
already been answered in detail on the forum or VDI wiki. If it's
not too much a burden - please just reply with a link in this case.
I'd like this thread to become a reference of sorts to point to our
    management and customers.
I'm growing an interest to try out a Sun VDI POC in our lab
with VirtualBox and Sunrays, so I have a number of questions
popping up. Not all of them are sunray-specific (in fact, most
are VirtualBox-related), but I humbly hope you won't all flame
    me for that?
I think I can get most of the answers by experiment, but if
anyone feels like sharing their experience on these matters
so I can expect something a'priori - you're welcome to do so ;)
Some questions involve best practices, however. I understand
that all mileages vary, but perhaps you can warn me (and others)
    about some known-not-working configurations...
    1) VDI core involves a replicated database (such as MySQL)
for redundant configuration of its working set storage...
1.1) What is the typical load on this database? Should it
just be "available", or should it also have a high mark
    in performance?
For example, we have a number of old Sun Netra servers
(UltraSPARC-II 450-650MHz) which even have a shared SCSI
JBOD (Sun StorEdge S1 with up to 3 disks).
Would these old horses plow the field well? (Some of them
do run our SRSS/uttsc tasks okay)
1.2) This idea seems crippled a bit anyway - if the database
master node goes down, it seems (but I may be wrong) that
one of the slave DB nodes should be promoted to a master
status, and then when the master goes up, their statuses
    should be sorted out again.
Or the master should be made HA in shared-storage cluster.
(Wonder question) Why didn't they use Sun DSEE or OpenDS
    with built-in multimaster replication instead?
    2) The documentation I've seen refers to a specific version
of VirtualBox - 2.0.8, as the supported platform for VDI3.
It was implied that there were specific features in that
build made for Sun VDI 3 to work with it. Or so I got it.
2.1) A few versions rolled out since that one, 3.0 is out
now. Will they work together okay, work but as unsupported
    config, not work at all?
2.2) If specifically VirtualBox 2.0.8 is to be used, is there
some secret build available, or the one from Old Versions
    download page will do?
    3) How much a bad idea is it to roll out a POC deployment
(up to 10 virtual desktop machines) with VirtualBox VMs
running on the same server which contains their data
(such as Sun Fire X4500 with snv_114 or newer)?
3.1) If this is possible at all, and if the VM data is a
(cloned) ZFS dataset/volume, should a networked protocol
(iSCSI) be used for VM data access anyway, or is it
possible (better?) to use local disk access methods?
3.2) Is it possible to do a POC deployment (forfeiting such
features as failover, scalability, etc.) on a single
    machine alltogether?
3.3) Is it feasible to extend a single-machine deployment
to a multiple-machine deployment in the future (that
    is, without reinstalling/reconfiguring from scratch)?
    4) Does VBox RDP server and its VDI interaction with SRSS
have any specific benefits to native Windows RDP, such
as responsiveness, bandwidth, features (say, microphone
    input)?
Am I correct to say that VBox RDP server enables the
touted 3D acceleration (OpenGL 2.0 and DX8/9), and lets
connections over RDP to any VM BIOS and OSes, not just
    Windows ones?
4.1) Does the presence of a graphics accelerator card on
the VirtualBox server matter for remote use of the VM's
(such as through a Sun Ray and VDI)?
4.2) Concerning the microphone input, as the question often
asked for SRSS+uttsc and replied by RDP protocol limits...
Is it possible to pass the audio over some virtualized
device for the virtual machine? Is it (not) implemented
    already? ;)
    5) Are there known DO's and DONT's for VM desktop workloads?
For example, simply office productivity software users
and software developers with Java IDEs or ongoing C/C++
compilations should have different RAM/disk footprints.
Graphics designers heavy on Adobe Photoshop are another
breed (which we've seen to crawl miserably in Windows
RDP regardless of win/mstsc or srss/uttsc clients).
Can it be predicted that some class of desktops can
virtualize well and others should remain "physical"?
NB: I guess this is a double-question - on virtualization
of remote desktop tasks over X11/RDP/ALP (graphics bound),
as well as a question on virtualization of whole desktop
    machines (IO/RAM/CPU bound).
    6) Are there any rule-of-thumb values for virtualized
HDD and networking filesystems (NFS, CIFS) throughput?
(I've seen the sizing guides on VDI Wiki; anything else
    to consider?)
For example, the particular users' data (their roaming
profiles, etc.) should be provisioned off the networked
storage server, temporary files (browser caches, etc.)
should only exist in the virtual machine, and home dirs
with working files may better be served off the network
    share altogether.
I wonder how well this idea works in real life?
In particular, how well does a virtualized networked
or "local" homedir work for typical software compile
tasks (r/w access to many small files)?
    7) I'm also interested in the scenario of VMs spawned
from "golden image" and destroyed after logout and/or
    manually (i.e. after "golden image"'s update/patching).
It would be interesting to enable the cloned machine
to get an individual hostname, join the Windows domain
(if applicable), promote the user's login to the VM's
local Administrators group or assign RBAC profiles or
sudoer permissions, perhaps download the user's domain
roaming profile - all prior to the first login on this
    VM...
Is there a way to pass some specific parameters to the
VM cloning method (i.e. the user's login name, machine's
    hostname and VM's OS)?
If not, perhaps there are some best-practice suggestions
on similar provisioning of cloned hosts during first boot
(this problem is not as new as VDI, anyways)?
    8) How great is the overhead (quantitative or subjective)
of VM desktops overall (if more specific than values in
sizing guide on Wiki)? I've already asked on HDD/networking
    above. Other aspects involve:
How much more RAM does a VM-executing process typically
use than is configured for the VM? In the JavaOne demo
webinar screenshots I think I've seen a Windows 7 host
with 512Mb RAM, and a VM process sized about 575Mb.
The Wiki suggests 1.2 times more. Is this a typical value?
Are there "hidden costs" in other VBox processes?
How efficiently is the CPU emulated/provided (if the VBox
host has the relevant VT-x extensions), especially for
    such CPU-intensive tasks as compilation?
*) Question from our bookkeeping team:
Does creating such a POC lab and testing it in office's
daily work (placing some employees or guests in front of
virtual desktops instead of real computers or SR Solaris
desktops) violate some licenses for Sun VDI, VirtualBox,
Sun Rays, Sun SGD, Solaris, etc? (The SRSS and SSGD are
licensed; Solaris is, I guess, licensed by the download
form asking for how many hosts we have).
Since all of the products involved (sans SGD) don't need
a proof of license to install and run, and they can be
downloaded somewhat freely (after quickly clicking thru
the tomes of license agreements), it's hard for a mere
admin to reply such questions ;)
If there are some limits (# of users, connections, VMs,
CPUs, days of use, whatever) which differentiate a legal
deployment for demo (or even legal for day-to-day work)
from a pirated abuse - please let me know.

  • Cancelled promotional code, ridiculous hassle

On December 11th I got a $25 promotional code for a cancelled order. I felt that was a really generous offer and when an item I had been looking at went on sale, I decided to use it.On 12/21 I price matched the item through a rep by phone and asked if I could use the promotional code, they applied it and everything seemed fine. However they got my address entered incorrectly somehow and my order auto-cancelled seconds after they placed it due to address verification issues. They told me the promotional code would still be valid.
Go forward about a week, another item is available on BB.com and I decide to use my promo code to order it. It doesn't work, I call in and after nearly an hour on the phone finally get told that I need to call 1-866-308-6166 to get it addressed. I've now called that number probably...6 times? I've had anything from no one answering at all(I've called before 7 pm in any time zone since no one has ever been able to tell me which time zone the 7 pm close time applies to), to being told it is being reissued, to speaking to a supposed manager who just hung up after explaining my issue.
Today I finally got ahold of someone who says that they have addressed my issue. I have no way of knowing if this is the case or not but good lord this is ridiculously bad customer service. I belong to a forum that Best Buy gets a lot of press on and was told to come here and post a thread and just maybe I could get some resolution.
Can you do something to help me? I've spent close to 3 hours on the phone and ridiculous CS like this is what makes me want to move my purchases(personal and business) to Amazon when they would have had this fixed in minutes, not weeks. I'm Elite Plus and all that fun stuff.

    Hello reaperztoll-
I apologize for the lateness of this response and I certainly can understand your frustrations with the time you’ve put in trying to resolve the issue with your $25 digital promotion code.  I’d be happy to look into this further for you.
I was unable to determine if this was a digital promotion code or if it was an e-gift card that you were given, so I can’t really speak as to whether or not it would have been still active after your order was cancelled.  If it was a digital coupon code, it would not have been active and it would have needed to be re-issued by us when the order was cancelled.  If it was an e-gift card, the funds should have been returned to the card when the order was cancelled, making it available for use again on another order.
Based on the notes that I can see from your previous communications, it appears that we are sending you out a physical gift card for $25 to replace this amount.  Generally, those gift cards take about 10-14 business days to be mailed out to you.  They do not have an expiration date and can be used both in our stores and online at BestBuy.com.
I hope that this helps clear things up, but if you have any further questions, please let me know.
    Sincerely,
