Prompt for database logon information

I am using CRS XI R2 SP4 on Windows
I installed a report on the server and completed the datasource information and set the checkbox for using the same database info when report is run.
However when the run is run the user is prompted for database user/password the other fields such as database host and database name are read-only.
The only difference between this report and other reports that do not exhibit this behavior is that this report has a sub-report that uses a Command object
Please suggest ways to suppress the database login prompt.

  • Infoview prompts for database logon screen when updating dynamic parameter

    I have already set up initial database ID/PW for the report in CMS, but when I I tried to update my parameter to schedule the report, it is requiring the user to enter database ID/PW again........Is there a way to set this up so that the user can bypass this step since it is quite annoying?
    Thanks.

    Is your lov created Business View Manager? If it is, you can store the userid and password in the data connection your business view is based on.
    1) Start Business View Manager. Close the default screen that appears.
    2) Click View > Repository Explorer on the menu bar.
    3) Expand the Dynamic Cascading Prompts folder. Locate the "Data Connection" for the appropriate dynamic parameter. It will be in the form of <parameter_name>_DC (i.e. it will have the name of the parameter and then '_DC').
    4) Double-click the Data Connection. "Property Browser" will appear.
    5) Type the database user name and password in that Property Browser.
    6) Set the Runtime Prompt to Never Prompt.
    7) Save the changes to the Data Connection.
    The prompt for database logon information will no longer appear when changing parameter values.

  • Report sometimes prompts for database logon prior to execution

    I have installed the Crystal Reports Integration Addon on our system and it works correclty for users on our terminal services server.  But when I installed it on a user's PC running Windows XP, when I go to execute an existing report, the Runtime viewer launches, and then displays a Database logon panel with the Server field filled in, the database field is blank, and the SA user and password fields are populated, and I get an error that says logon failed.  I type in the SA user id and password, but get the same error.
    If the same user logs onto the TS server, the runtime viewer launches correctly and the report prompts for input, then displays the appropriate data (no database logon is requested). But if it runs at that user's workstation, the viewer launches, and then prompts for database logon.
    We are running SAP 2007A SP00 PL47, CR Basic 2008 for SAP Business One, and the runtime viewer is Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime SP1. version 2.0.0.7

    Hi Bruce,
    I am not sure what the problem is.
    The only workaround I can think of is to change the Integrated Security in the report to true. This means that you will be using Windows Authentication as opposed SQL Authentication. This will not prompt for SQL username and password.
    Usually this is NOT an ideal process as you will have to Add each and every Windows user in the SQL Database you are trying to access. For example, you have to add DOMAIN_NAME\User_Name under the Database Properties.
    I am not sure what the minimum security you need to run the report. You will try a few different options and see what works best for you. Avoid permissions that would give users ability to write to the SQL database.
    Again, I know this is not ideal. But I am not sure what else can be done here.

  • Prompting for Database logon

    Hi all,
    I hardcoded the database logon credentials for a report on CMC and selected " Use the same logon Details when you run". But when i am running the report on Infoview it is prompting for Database logon credentials. I dont want the user to be prompted for logon credentials when he runs the report from Infoview. Is there any other configuration do i need to do on CMC side. I have few other reports running on the same database, when we run those reports it is not asking for logon credentials. It is asking for only that specific report.
    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Environment: BOXI3.1, Crystal Reports 2008 and SQL server 2005.

  • Report that uses web services as data source, prompts for database logon

    I have a crystal report that uses web services as a data source. When I deploy the report to Infoview it prompts me for a database username and password. Since I am not using a database it should not prompt me for these. I tried various options in the CMC->database settings for this report but it still prompts me for the database logon info or tells me that the database logon information is incorrect.
    The report work fine in the Crystal Reports Designer.
    Does anyone know how I can prevent this report from prompting me for the database logon info ?
    Thanks,

    What options have you tried in the CMC?
    Have you tried running the report in Crystal Reports installed directly on the Enterprise machine?

    did you try selecting use same database credentials database option in CMS? If you are still getting the database prompt then it might be because of dynamic parameters in the report. If you have any dynamic parameters in the report it generates LOV in the repository. So try to open the LOV in Business VIew Manager and check the properties of the LOV and go to corresponding data connection for that LOV and in the properties tab select never prompt instead of always prompt by giving database credentials.

    How did you set up NT auth on the report? With CR Designer I'd assume you are using a trusted connection? Which option did you choose in the CMC for DB credentials? Prompt, same login, or SSO (I don't have the CMC screen in front of me right now so I'm abbreviating the options)?

  • The database logon information for this report is either incomplete

    Hello All
    I have installed a full licensed version of crystal reports server 2008 onto a windows server 2003 virtual server.
    I am getting the following error message when trying to run some reports when i am logged in as the adminstrator
    'The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect.'
    Some reports work and some dont, I use the same login information for all reports, same username and same password, same machine datasource and all the reports  run fine in crystal designer 2008
    The only difference i can see is that the error mainly occurs with reports that use stored procedures, the ones that dont work fine.
    I not sure how to resolve this problem as i have tested the login and the datasoure and it works fine, just not through crystal reports server

    Further to this i've realized that this only happens with reports which have been updated to use a stored procedure from a query file. And the reports dont use any repository objects

    For the report to run, do we have 6400 to 6490 ports open?
    we have port 1433 open between database and CR server but not the 6400 - 6490 ports open?

    [ENVIRONMENT]

    CMS Database - Oracle 11g
    Java Application Server - Tomcat7
    [ISSUE]
    Using the Upgrade Management Tool to completely migrate a BOXI3.1 SP3+FP3.6 to BI4.1 SP03.  The reporting database from both BOXI3.1 and BI4.1 are the same and so is the database logon credential.
    When viewing and refresh a migrated Crystal Report, it throws "The viewer could not process an event. The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect. [] ---- Error code:0 [CRWEB00000119]" error in both BI Launchpad and "The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect" in scheduled job.

    I search the SAP SMP and SCN forum and found no reference on this UMT and Crystal Report database logon problem.  Hope any of you have seen this problem and share if there is an ADAPT for it.
    Thank you in advance,

    Hi,
    The BI4.1 SP03 server and client and Crystal Report 2013 SP03 developer and Crystal Report for Enterprise 4.1 SP03 are all installed onto this Windows 2008 R2 server.
    I am able to open the migrated report from CMS repository in Crystal Report 2013 SP03 developer and am able to refresh it with database logon password provided.  After save it back to the Enterprise, the database logon password field for this report in CMC becomes empty so that I have to enter the database password and choose "Use same database logon as when report is run" when viewing and scheduling report.
    What is interesting to me is that the UMT seems to migrate the report along the database logon password because I can see the encrypted password in the report database logon property in CMC.  The workaround is to reenter the database logon password in the report database logon property in CMC.
    With this said, there are hundreds of the Crystal reports and the workaround would consume lots of manual work by update each report's database logon password in CMC.
    For other customers who have more crystal reports, I wonder if there is an automated way to update the crystal report's database logon password on BI4.1 or if this is an isolated incident on my new BI4.1 SP03 environment.
    I run UMT in command line to perform livetolive migration, and my steps are listed below
    cd "E:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\java\apps\upgradeManagementTool\jars\"
    "E:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64\sapjvm\bin\javaw.exe" -Xmx56g -Djava.library.path="..\..\..\..\win64_x64" -jar upgrademanagementtool.jar -internal_use_only_noversioncheck -responsefile LIVETOLIVEResponseFile.txt

  • Crystal Report Error Failed to load Database logon Information

    Hi Experts,
    We developed a Crystal reports fetching data from a BI Query. When we run the report from Crystal Report Desginer it runs perfectly.
    When I schedule the report in the CMC / Infoview, I am getting a error message saying:
    "<REPORT NAME> Failed to load database logon Information."
    We have checked the database configuration in CMC for this report. BI system hostname and the other necessary credentials are fine.
    Please suggest us on how we go about understanding the cause of the error.

  • Use original database logon information from the report

    When publishing reports to crystal reports server, the data source password is missing and reports as set to 'prompt the user for database logon'
    Here is a description of our report creation process and how we currently set the db password.
    Reports are created using Crystal Reports Designer XI Professional.
    The data source is set up through the report wizard or manually to a sql db
    using either a sql login or integrated authentication
    the reports are then publish through the designer by going to File Save As - Choose Enterprise - then give
    report server info.
    From the CMC (crystal report server XI r2)
    we go to the folder location,
    select the report then go to the process tab
    click on database sub tab.
    we then set the database password and change the "When viewing reprot" setting to "Use same database logon as when report is run"
    reports are run both ondemand through links to infoview and through a variaty of schedules.
    How can we publish the reports to the Report Server without having to go to the CMC and set the database password, it doesnt' matter if we use sql login or integrated authentication, the result is the same.

    Hi Mario,
    some things you may want to consider.
    1) Setting up SSO to the DB. If your install is on windows and DB is SQL or Oracle, you can integrate your logon with windows and pass that all the way down to the DB when viewing the report. This is fairly complex to set up initially but simple to use from then on.
    2) DBuser and DBpass. You can populate user/pw fields associated with user account and then pass this value down to the DB. This can work with any DB instead of just SQL and Oracle. This doesn't appear to be documented yet. You may need to open a message with support if you need more details.
    3) Create reports based of a universe. This will use the universe connection (set per universe) to access the DB. For more on this post a question in the crystal reports forums.
    The kerberos SSO to the DB is documented in the [XI 3.0 admin guide|http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir3/en/xi3_bip_admin_en.pdf]

  • Being Asked for Database Logon Twice

    I am using VS2010 and have created a webpage to display a report.  I load up a report using a stored procedure into the Viewer.  When I click to export the report, it wants to open up another window and then asks for the logon information again.
    Below is the code that I am using.  It gets the right results.
                ReportDocument rpt = new ReportDocument();
                rpt.Load(MapPath("CheckReport.rpt"));
                TableLogOnInfo logonInfo = new TableLogOnInfo();
                foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table crtable in rpt.Database.Tables)
                    logonInfo = crtable.LogOnInfo;
                    logonInfo.ConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = "BankRec";
                    logonInfo.ConnectionInfo.ServerName = "XXXXX";
                    logonInfo.ConnectionInfo.UserID = "XXXXX";
                    logonInfo.ConnectionInfo.Password = "XXXXX";
                    crtable.ApplyLogOnInfo(logonInfo);
                rpt.SetDatabaseLogon("BankRec", "XXXX", "XXXXX", "XXXX");
                rpt.SetParameterValue("@BankAcct", cboBankAcct.Text);
                rpt.SetParameterValue("@MonthEnd", txtMonthEnd.Text);
                int exportFormatFlags = (int)(ViewerExportFormats.PdfFormat | ViewerExportFormats.ExcelFormat | ViewerExportFormats.ExcelRecordFormat |
                    ViewerExportFormats.XLSXFormat | ViewerExportFormats.CsvFormat);
                CrystalReportViewer.AllowedExportFormats = exportFormatFlags;
                CrystalReportViewer.Visible = true;
                CrystalReportViewer.HasCrystalLogo = false;
                CrystalReportViewer.ReportSource = rpt;

    I may have solved my problem.
    I did not realize that it would call the page load event.
    I added a call to the method and it seems to be working now.
    If there are any ideas or I'm doing this wrong, please let me know.

    Hello all,
    I am posting this issue for the second time.. In my previous post, I didn't get a solution.
    For some reason a few of the reports that we run are prompting for database information for no apparent reason. I have provided a screen shot of what the behavior looks like.  Can you please let me know if you have any ideas on what might be causing this?  I have written a number of reports with the same use but for some reason only a few behave in this way.
    Any ideas you may have would be helpful.

  • Dynamic Parameter Prompting for Database Connection Password When schedulin

    I'm having problems with Dynamic Parameters when I try to schedule a report in InfoView.
    I create the report in Crystal Reports XI and publish it to the Crystal Server. I go into CMC and under Process:Database set the correct data source and enter the server, database, user and password.
    When the report is run I can choose a dynamic parameter and the reports runs fine - it's when I try to schedule the report and choose the parameter that I am asked to enter the user and password for the database.
    If the parameter is static it's fine and I don't get prompted. Because I want the end-users to schedule their own reports I need to have the user and password embedded in the report.
    From what I've read in the forums, there seems to be a lot of issues with dynamic parameters and database logons, and no real solutions. But this is just weird that it's only failing when I try to schedule the report!

    I am having the same issue.
    Issue started on 9/25/2008
    Existing BO 11r2 installation including service pack 2
    Windows Server 2003 Service pack 2
    Existing scheduled reports do not exhibit this behaviour and run correctly.
    Add new or update existing report. Log into the CMC as administrator and set process for database and parameters.
    Exit CMC
    log into Infoview.  Click on report and run (as administrator OR as existing user with permissions) NO PROBLEM.
    Log into Infoview as Administrator or existing users with permissions) as attempt to schedule report.  All reports Any dynamic parameter and request for user name and password opens.  Once the correct info is entered the report can be scheduled.
    This is a new issue on our installation, we have been running without problems for over a year.
    Any help appreciated.
