Prompt for downloadig a PPT-File from KM

Hi,
we´re using Netweaver 2004 with Stack 18.
When I try to opend a PPT-File (Office 2000 and 2003) direct from the portal, I get a prompt for download or open the file.
How can I open a PPT-File from the portal without this prompt ?

Hi Oliver,
(a) You must have the MS Office plugin working within IE (do you have? Does opening other PPT over the internet within IE work?)
(b) The HTTP response delivering the PPT must provide the "right" content-type. You didn't write from where you download the PPT. From KM? From an self-developed application? To determin the correct content-type HTTP header, see (a) (where it works on the internet), check the content-type there. And if you have any influence to set the content-type header of the download in question, set it to the same value.

Office O365 prompting for credentials when opening files from OneDrive and selecting "Edit in Word"

When logged into my OneDrive IE 9 and select a word or excel file to "Edit in Word" or "Edit in Excel"I get prompted with the following Sign In message.
"Call us overprotective, but we need to verify your account again before opening this document."
When I enter my live ID and password it then asks again for my user ID and then password over and over and I can never open the document to edit in my local copy of Word or Excel 2013.
I have done the basic internet troubleshooting and deleted all my temporary internet files. I have also re-installed MS office 2013 from my O365 account without issue.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I've seen this issue on Office 365 Community before, it should be like:
Some users resolved the issue by pressing the Enter key instead of clicking on the Next button, try if this works for you.
You can also try with another Web Browser if you have, if with another browser it works fine, consider to reset the Internet Explorer:
Internet Options -> Advanced -> Reset Internet Explorer Settings -> Reset.

This is standard functionality, that you can read more about in the OLM User Manual. You can upload the files to an OLM content server or to any other content server that can be accessed with a URL.

Hi Sairam,
I hope you know which location you have saved in the Application server.
Now if you go to the Infopackage and click on the "External Data" tab, there you will see Radio Buttons for
1) Client Workstation
2) Application Server
Choose the second radio button, then in the Field "Name of the File" you will be able to use the F4 help and browse AL11 transaction through this option. You can then choose the File.

i transferred PPT files from a windows based laptop to my macbook, at first it was able to run the animations in the file no problem, its my first time to use a mac also bythe way, so i started downloading freebies like the VLC, FLIP4MAC, and other plug-in players, would it be because of this downloads that my mac now cannot seem to run the powerpoint animations any more ?

I don't think vlc would affect powerpoint. What were those "other plug-in players" you downloaded?
I'm not that familiar with powerpoint so how are those animations played? Are they windows media player files? If so then flip4mac might affect them.

Why do I get prompted for permission to delete files or change file names?

One of several users (my wife) on our iMac has recently started getting prompted for the administrator password to delete, rename or perfrom other operations on files in her home directory. I suspect a corrupt set of user configurations files. How can I fix this?

Remove the ACLs from files/folders in her home folder. Log in to an admin account and enter the following in Terminal:
sudo chmod -R -N ~wife
(where "wife" is your wife's account's short name)

Downloading Large PPT file from Email - not working

I emailed to myself a large 12 MB PPT file and in my email touched this assuming it would open and allow me to use iWork to open the file. I do have iWork Keynote on my iPad. However, it does not open. I touch the file and the hourglass keeps thinking and says it's downloaded 0 of 12.5 MB. It sits like that for ages.
I've had no problem with other Excel and PDF files, only larger PowerPoint files. I was able to open a smaller PPT no problem.
Any thoughts?

If you're trying to import that file into Keynote on your iPad, you won't get it there by emailing it to yourself, regardless of size. You have to do the following.
1) Connect your iPad to your laptop.
2) Once iTunes is open, click on your iPad under Device in the left column.
3) Click on the Apps tab on top.
4) Scroll down to the File Sharing section.
5) Click on Keynote.
6) Click on the Add button.
7) Browse to the location of the PPT file on your laptop, select it.
8) Now you have your file ready to import in iTunes.
9) Click on the Info tab on top.
10) Click on Sync below. Once it finishes, you'll have your PPT file in Keynote on your laptop.
11) On your iPad, click on Keynote.
12) Click on the little folder icon at top right corner.
13) Click on the PPT file in the list that opens. There you go.

User experience improve for MS word/ppt file

Unfortunately not currently. AutoVue loads the documents page by page. For example, when loading a PowerPoint document, the AutoVue server reads the first page and sends the graphical information to the client for rendering. Page 2 is only read when the user selects the next page.

How can I get firefox 4 to stop prompting for handling of a file type? I have already set "always automatically do this" and checked application preferences. Any other things to try?

I am using FF4 to download some .nzb files. I just want it to open the appropriate application when I click to download the .nzb file. Instead, I get prompted each time. this wasn't a problem on beta FF4. I also verified my application settings. Also, not a problem in Chrome or IE . . .

I finally found a solution to this problem. Simply install the InlineDisposition extension:

PE9 ProjectPreset for Mini DVD VOB files from Sony DCR-DVD308

I am new to PE9 and I am having trouble bringing in widescreen video from finalized mini-DVDs that are generated by my Sony DCR-DVD 308 into widescreen format. The video on the mini-DVD is widescreen but when I bring it into PE9, it opens a dialog box for the video importer, I get the mismatch warning and it brings it in as a standard aspect ratio video. I have tried numerous different project presets including "NTSC-Hard Disk, Flash Memory Camcorders like Sony DCR" but to no avail. The video that comes in is always standard aspect ratio. What am I doing wrong?

I ended up going back to the Sony program that came with the camera and coverted out the files to MPEG using that software first, and then brought them into PE9 with success. The video quality is a little better too. Thanks for the help.

Mac users prompted for password when reading PDFs from Internet

We produce PDFs with a randomly generated password to "protect" them from being editted.
Periodically, we get complaints from Mac users who, upon clicking the PDF link, are prompted to enter the password. My guess at this point is that they have Acrobat (not Reader) installed and it's wanting to open the PDF in an editable mode by default.
Does this sound correct?
What instructions should we give them to work around this issue? Is there a settings change for this (least desireable) or a Ctrl-Click sequence to get it in "read-only" mode?
We're not Mac folks -- don't have one in-house -- so we haven't had an environment to experiment in.
BTW: The issue is with our clients' customers so we need something fairly non-technical for directions.
