Prompted to close Explorer, but it is...

When attempting to install Flash Player I am prompted to close Explorer, it is closed. I hit try again, and the message just repeats over and over. I have tried restarting the process, my computer multiple times.
Any suggestions?

1/2 thru the downloading process, I am prompted to close IE but it is already closed

I received a prompt telling me that I didn't have Adobe Flash Player installed on my computer (it had to have been installed on my computer last night; otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to play the computer games that I do). While trying to download it, I received a prompt telling me to close IE - which I did. When I selected the 'continue' icon, it kept telling me to close IE, then continue. Couldn't get past this point. And what happened to the Flash Player that was on my computer last night when I was playing computer games that require it to be installed in order to play the games?

Download the Adobe Flash Player installer directly by clicking one of the following links.
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
"Save" the installer - DO NOT "Run" it. Repeat: DO NOT "Run" the installer.
RIght click your taskbar and select Task Manager or Start Task Manager, whichever your OS shows.
In the Task Manager, under the Processes tab, look for "iexplore.exe" - NOT "explorer.exe" as this is Windows Explorer, a different app altogether.
End ALL instances of this process, until there are none.
Run the offline installer from your downloads folder.

When viewing documents on a Web Server, IE automatically opens a blank page and then opens the document in the default program. The blank screen should close automatically but isn't happening.

So here is the situation, my company uses a third party scanning software, that puts documents scanned or created onto a webserver. We use a program that grants a user access to view the documents on the webserver. The user will have to log into the system
using credentials, we have Kerberos doing this. Once the user is logged onto the system they navigate to the document they want to view or edit. So the user wants to view a .pdf file, they click the document they want, and it is supposed to open in the default
program associated with file extension. ie: .doc would open Word, .xls would open Excel. When the document is loading in the default program Internet Explorer opens a blank page, this page is supposed to prompt the user if they want to open or save the document.
(I changed the registry to have the files selected to automatically open without this prompt.) The blank screen generated is still staying open, this screen is supposed to close automatically after the prompt or close automatically after the document is opened.
So when a user is looking at several documents, this floods the screen with all these blank Internet Explorer pages. This problem is only occurring for users that have Windows 7 PC's, XP users do not have this problem at all. My PC is the only one in the company
that is Windows 7 64-bit, and working properly with the IE blank page automatically closing. I'm wondering what can be done to fix this problem, is it as simple as registering some .dll files or do I need to make a registry change? Any help would greatly be
appreciated.

What is the registry change exactly? Sounds like one which is supposed to avoid the prompt. I know
that there used to be such a thing, before the new prompt and I know that some users think that there should be such a thing for any program but I'm not sure if that expectation is valid or not. I think this may also be related to a concurrent change
in the OS. E.g. in XP we had File Types Options editor but starting in Vista that was removed. You might get some more clues on this tack from NirSoft's FileTypesMan utility.
The registry change that I did was to remove the open and save prompt. I will be sure to look into that. Our company
isn't worried about the user's automatically opening the files since they are all trusted. They also do not have the ability to install anything, so if they were to download a potentially harmful file they could never install it. We monitor downloads as well,
if they download files off the internet that aren't work related we remove their download capabilities.
Sounds like a scenario for using ProcMon to take two traces and compare them for their essential differences.
I talked to my boss about using this tool and he is worried about using it. I'm only an intern at my office and do not have the authority to use a program without their knowledge or consent. I will run the idea by them again and see if it's okay I use this.
I'll maybe make some presentation about how it can help us with our problem and how much time and money it will save. Because I really want to get down to the bottom of this.
Probably the most significant thing is going to be the Content-type that the files are being served by.
You could use the Developer Tools, Network Capture to check on that and ProcMon could help explain what happens after that. A related workaround to change the symptom when the Content-type is not what is expected is to disable MIME Sniffing (e.g. in
Security options, Miscellaneous section). In fact, perhaps that could explain your machine's difference with anyone else? MIME Sniffing is a default, previously known as "save according to type not extension" (or some such wording).
Okay I will be completely honest I have no idea how to use Developer Tools (F12), yes I could google it, when I tried using it on the blank pages it would never work, I also have no idea what I'm looking at. I should mention that I do not have access to
the web server. Our programming and development side only has access to our AS400, which is where the web server is located. I do have MIME Sniffing enabled and so does everyone else. I may be wrong but, I believe it is needed in order to open the file extension
in the correct default program, yes? I thought MIME Sniffing would see a .docx file and then find the appropriate program to open that .docx file in. I may be wrong but I know it's used somehow along these lines.

Sign out and back into your apple id from Settings>iTunes and App stores>(Your apple ID)>Sign Out and then sign in again with the new address. Close app store from running in the background (or restart the phone if your unsure how to do this). If when trying to update any apps they are still asking for the old apple ID, delete and re-install those apps.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

I have the same problem - every time I close firefox (using either the red x or by selecting file ---> exit) the program appears to close normally, but the firefox.exe *32 process continues to run. If I try to re-open firefox normally I get a message that the program is still running and I need to go into task manager and manually kill the process.
I could also kill the process from the command prompt, but both of those methods are slow and annoying. This issue has only been occurring for the last 24 hours or so; to the best of my knowledge I haven't downloaded any new software or updated any plug-ins that would have caused a switch from firefox's normal awesomeness. Norton doesn't show any new viruses or other nastiness on my computer.

In iTunes, select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES. Over to the right, go to the Summary tab.
There should be a checkbox that says Enable disk use. Check it and Apply the change. It should now appear in Windows, when the iPod is connected.
NOTE: When Disk Use is enable, you have to eject the iPod (in iTunes) before physically disconnecting it from computer.

Why does my Web Handler work with Internet Explorer, but not with Firefox

I am trying to develop a web page that uses the Simile Timeline (http://code.google.com/p/simile-widgets/wiki/Timeline) with data from SQL Server.
In initial testing of my timeline I tested it with Example.xml, a static XML file in the correct format to be event data. I wrote the following in the appropriate place within mytimeline's Javascript: -

This worked fine with both Firefox and Internet Explorer. I then changed the assignment to

so that invoked a web handler that could look up the SQL database and return the XML that I wanted, and wrote this web handler.
This works perfectly with Internet Explorer, but with FireFox the timeline band is blank. Yet when I examine the http traffic with Fiddler2 (http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler2/) I see that with either browser there is a response from URL
/GDB_pages/GDBTimeline.ashx?Type=Family&Userid=robertb
that returns the XML that it is supposed to.
I have previously used web handlers with Firefox before, with no problems. The Fiddler results conclusively show that the web handler is invoked, and returns the appropriate XML, and this XML is identical to the XML from the static test with Example.xml.
Where do I start looking for answers? I don't even know if this is a Simile problem, a Firefox problem, or an ASP.NET problem.

Problem solved. The issue: Content Type was not correct.
Visual Studio creates the web handler with dummy code like this: -

I wrote a database query that set a string variable to the XML I wanted: -

This works with Internet Explorer. However it's not strictly correct: to make it work with other browsers as well,

It now works with IE, FF, and Chrome, and presumably all others.

If i have 2 wndows open and try to close one, both close. It asks me if I want to close both but not an option to close 1

if i go to a site and click on a link in the site - sometimes the back button is not there. If I try to close the top window to go back to the original site, it warns me I'm going to close both windows. I only want to close one but don't know how so I wind up closing both and having to re-open firefox.

These are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple here and they don't monitor these forums - I've asked the hosts to remove yout account ids from your post.
In terms of combining accounts it's not currently possible to do so, nor to copy/transfer content from account to another.

JQuery Cycle 2 Image Slideshow (Works (cycles) in Explorer, but not in Safari or Chrome??

I am novice designer. I copied code for Cycle2 into my head (declaration or initializer?) and body (image source) of HTML document. The slider cycles through pictures in Explorer, but not in Safari or Crome. Any help, suggestions, alternatives would be appreciated. Thank you.

Spry Content Slideshow- trouble being responsive when resized.
FlexSlider2.2- trouble with image height/viewport sizing to big (kinda had workaround), but had trouble with getting HTML text and image together on one slide.
WOWSlider- could not get rid of the gutter/margins surrounding the slider.
Cycle2-won't work in all browsers (for me)

Resize/re-scale & optimize all images for the web in your graphics editor before you insert them into your web pages. Saves bandwidth and reduces page load.
Cycle2 is a responsive slideshow. If you want all images to remain 400px and not responsive to layout, you'll need to modify the CSS code a little.
