Prompted to sing in iCloud and iMessages every time i turn on Mac Book Pro
In the last few weeks, every time I turn on my Mac Book Pro, I get a pop up asking me to sign into iCloud and I messages. After doing so, I go to my Messages-Preferences and Accounts to ensure my iMessages is active and it is not so I have to re-enter my Apple id . Once entered, iMessages is activated but when I go to Account - Details, it asks me a window comes up and says, To view account information of (iMessage ), enter Apple ID; I do enter my ID then a pop up comes up with "account details" It lists my username and below two spaces for my password which has dots to represent characters. I know that password is not my current ID password as it is shorter. When I type in my current password, it tells me I must use a password I have not used in the past year. I don't understand? IT is not like I am changing a password because I have not clicked on the button below called " manage Apple ID; where i can change password etc".
Anyone can help me on this?
I would be happy to insert snap shots of the windows but don't know how to do so using my macbook, only my iPhone at this time.
You showed a kernel panic file from OS X, apprantly Log Me In is installed into OS X or running when you log in.
You should be using the developers installer/unistaller to remove Log Me In from OS X.
Somehow it's in OS X, I don't know, but it's there and you need to remove it. I'm not dealing with Windows, just OS X.
Talk to Log Me In people and find out what is installed where so you can do a manual deletion out of OS X.
If that doesn't work, you have to reboot holding the Shift key down manually search for any Log Me In or Himachi files on your computer, in your System/Library/Extensions folder too, use the free Easy Find.

Every time I turn on my MacBook Pro, before I can use any programs that access the internet (i.e. iTunes, iBank, etc), I have to go into Safari where it prompts me to perform network diagnostics. (I use a wep encrypted wireless network.)
During network diagnostics, I select my network and at some point it tells me that my network appears to be working properly and then defaults to the Apple.com webpage. I then Quit network diagnostics and exit Safari and then I am fine to do whatever I need to in the other programs.
This is quite annoying and I wish it would just remain on my network without me having to do this every time I turn it on. Is there some thing I can do or some setting that I am missing that would allow me to avoid this?Is your network hidden? See:

Change the name of the network and the password, then connect manually and when it asks to save in Keychain do so.

You should be using the developers installer/unistaller to remove Log Me In from OS X.
Somehow it's in OS X, I don't know, but it's there and you need to remove it. I'm not dealing with Windows, just OS X.
Talk to Log Me In people and find out what is installed where so you can do a manual deletion out of OS X.
If that doesn't work, you have to reboot holding the Shift key down manually search for any Log Me In or Himachi files on your computer, in your System/Library/Extensions folder too, use the free Easy Find.

Hi I am having trouble with iMessage on the mac book pro, it doesnt sync with the ipad and iPhone, both the ipad and iPhone do but not on the mac book pro , has anyone any suggestions, thanks in advance
First, make sure that all your devices are using the same Apple ID in iMessages including your Mac. Second, your messages that you've already started on your devices will not show up on your Mac - only ones that you start from now on will show up. Third, if you're still not syncing accross all devices, make sure you read the directions on the first page of this thread. It should work after performing those steps. Good luck!

Every time I turn my mac off, the desktop background changes. It always returns to the same picture, which was the second or third thing I changed my desktop to after getting my mac. I have background switching unchecked in my preferences, and I have never selected it as an option. Also, when I go to my preferences, it will show the icon of the picture I changed it to, even though the desktop itself has switched back.
I would start with some basic troubleshooting.
REPAIRING DISK PERMISSIONS -
NOTE: refer to article "About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature" found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1452 - for the actual apple article on these step. ----
- click finder in the bottom dock, and in the window that opens, select applications in the left column - scroll through until you see the 'Utilities' folder and double click to open it. Then double click on 'Disk Utility'
- When prompted to select a disk volume or image, select the 'Macintosh HD' in the left column
- ensure the the "first aid" tab is highlighted blue in the middle of the screen
- click the button at the bottom that says 'Repair Disk Permissions'
- this process will take a few minutes to run. It will indicate it's done, by scrolling to the bottom of the "details area" displaying 'Permissions repair complete'

- restart your computer hold down command + R keys on the keyboard to boot you into Lion / Mountain Lion Recovery mode
- select english as your main language then the continue arrow
- select "Disk Utility" on the resulting screen then 'Disk Utility' ---
- When prompted to select a disk volume or image, select the 'Macintosh HD' in the left column
- ensure the the "first aid" tab is highlighted blue in the middle of the screen
- click the button at the bottom that says 'REPAIR DISK' .......NOT "Repair disk permissions"
- this process will take a few minutes to run. It will indicate it's done, by scrolling to the bottom of the "details area" displaying "The Macintosh HD appears OK"
If you get any other message OTHER than "The Macintosh HD appears OK", like "the Macintosh HD was repaired successfully" run the "Disk Repair" again, until it displays "The Macintosh HD appears OK".
Once done, restart the computer as normal -

OK, I have the most strangest event to report am really freaking out as Im not too sure of how it was possible but I am sure that there is someone out there who may! I will outline below exactly the circumstances in which this bizarre occurred:
1. Turned on Mac Book Pro (OS X 10.6.8)
2. Opened my VNC remote viewer to remote connect to my Windows 7 PC
3. Connected with my computer and opened an MS Word 2007 document
4. Selected and copied the text in this document
5. On my visible MAC tool bar I opened "Text Edit"
6. Then hit cmd+v to paste the text from this document from the Windows PC to the Mac text edit document
This is when I got a little disturbed - I will be as thorrough as possible:
The paste function worked as per normal in the fact that some text did appear in my text edit document but it was not the text sourced from the word document is was something completely different - In fact the text startlingly was originally from a text message I sent over 10 days ago on my iphone 5. I am more than baffled how this text has managed to mysteriously appear from my "Un-connected" Iphone 5 to a text document on my Mac Book!?!?!? It is beyond freaking me out until................I just happened to open my "notes" app on my Iphone and the first thing I saw was an old note i created that was infact this text that appeared on my Mac!
"A little background history on where the text came from: I had a text message exchange/conversation with someone I then wanted to send this complete exchange to someone else via text message but so it read all in one long complete unbroken message I individually copied each text exchange and pasted in sequentially into the note document until I had the whole conversation in there then copied the entire Note document and pasted it into messages and then text it to someone"
OK, so I think that this may now be something un-supernatural however, I need to determine exactly how this procedure occurred! I am still utterly baffled as:
1. I did not connect or even touch my notes app that day on my iphone and actually have not touched it since I created that note over 10 days ago
2. Checked my icloud settings on my Iphone and can see I have not got notes selected/activated
I hope I have not missed anything out but if anyone has any intelligent respones that may solve this mystery I was be extremely grateful.

You do not have to create a new Apple ID for your MacBook Pro. If you do that, you may have problems syncing your purchases. -

You can do it either using Boot Camp or by running a virtual machine, such as Parallels Desktop (which I use) or VMFusion. I prefer the VM method, as I don't have to reboot using the handful of Windows applications that I use. And I can access my Windows apps just as I do my Mac apps - copy and paste between them, etc.
I just upgraded from Parallels 7 to 8 and I'm quite happy with it, running Mountain Lion on a late 2011 MBP with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. I also have a 27" Apple Thunderbolt Display and there are no problems with video drivers, etc.
If I were you - unless I needed every inch of performance that running Boot Camp can bring - I'd go with a VM to run Windows. I can attest to the functionality of Parallels - perhaps others with experience with other VMs will chime in.

My computer crashed lasts week. And now, every time I turn on my computer, at the login screen it says that my computer shut down last time because of a problem, and gives me the option to restore my windows, i've tried both options, it still comes back.
My computer is a macbook pro mid 2010 running OS X 10.9.1

-EthanFirst boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and then reboot again normally. The safe mode boot will take longer as it runs repair procedures during the boot.
If that fixes the problem I'd also update the system to the latest 10.9.4 via the OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 Update -
I just up graded to 10.8 and am having to sign in with my password every time I turn my Mac on. Is there a way to prevent this? I am the only one who has access to my computer so do not need that.
Ensure that automatic login isn't disabled from either the Security or Users & Groups pane of System Preferences.

My audio stops outputting after a few songs in a playlist - itunes says its still playing, stopping and starting track recommences audio output. Mac book Pro Lion 16gb ram. Can be any song, any time, same song will play if I select it again. Bit of a bummer itunes is the main thing I use (macbook pro jukebox).
Most likely culprit is your Lacie drives which are notorious for flaky power supplies which cause just the sort of erratic behaviour that you describe. Have had similar issues myself. Lacie has been good about replacing my power converter-- twice. If you have seven of them, good luck finding the bad one or more. Like I said, the behaviour is erratic. Sometimes it'll work sometimes not. I can't comment on Samsung drives because I've never used them and have never heard anything about them. Same with Softraid. Why not just use Disk Utility. Sounds like you're ready for an external hardware raid. This will be much faster, much more reliable, and may even be cheaper than seven firewire drives. Check out G Tech, and Maxx Digital for starters.
