Prompting Failed (XIR2)

The preview in the designer fails with:Prompting failed with the following error message: 'Unexpected error.'.Error source: prompt.dll  Error code: 0x80043800The runtime version of the reports just fail silently (no error, but no report, either). Some reports that require prompts still work in both environments. The reports that don't work used to work, and they actually do still work on other machines (both environments). As far as I can tell, I'm the only user that has problems. The only known change is the installation of APC Powerchute Personal Edition (software for my new Uninterruptible Power Supply). Note that I'm the tech support here, so I can't escalate internally. I've tried unistalling and reinstalling to no effect. Note that the 'uninstall' is of limited value given that it leaves behind the entire Business Objects folder in Program Files and something prevents the manual removal (access denied, even when logged in as Administrator).

check your product version if it is not at least 11.5. something, you are not really on Release 5.  I had to kill my CR, re-instlal from CD, then add the R2 patch, pick dual install (for some reason, remove the old and install just the new, caused errors later) once r2 installed open CR and run a report.  It should install some more stuff, once that happens you can install SP3  Final version should be somewhere around  11.5.9.1076

  • Reports with prompt fails after migration

Hi everybody!I have developed some reports and afterwards I have migrated them to another Business Objects XI R2 server, in order to use them under InfoView. The problem is that the reports that use a prompt, are failing in the new server, the ones not using prompts are working OK.I'm getting the following error message: error calling API 'openDocumentMDP' error WIS 30270, INF: (might not be the exact message, since I'm getting the message in spanish) I have read that using dd:mm:yyyy as user input date format, might be related to this problem.  Please, help!!

if the new depreciation engine is active, there might be some differences, please read the note 965032

  • Verify - Prompting failed with the following error message: ". (and more)

This would be much easier to read with paragraphs... oh well.
First up, I have found a relevant KB article on this issue and have seen that this was possibly fixed with SP2. The article actually references a file date that does not exist in the list of downloadable support files (sigh), but the SP2 date is a few weeks after the referenced date and the first file after that date, so I'll assume it's in there.
Unfortunately I think my client might be using an OEM version of crystal. They have business objects XI, but there is no phone number listed in the tech support box of the help->about dialog. OEM Product Warning suggests the number should be (604) 669 8379... (this, by the way, seems like an extremely odd and unreliable way of determining the version of a software product) but I don't know how up to date that page is, a lot of links etc seem to be out of date.
In any case, what I really want to know is why would this happen in the first place? The report was working fine until today, and no changes were made to the report other than some formatting (the group pie chart type apparently likes to make the pies so big when there are only 2 groups that they overlap... awesome!).
I even tried removing my data source entirely and adding a completely new data source (which of course made all my charts disappear, but hey, what the hell at this point), and I still got the error.
I must say, today has been an extremely frustrating day working with crystal. As well as this error I was getting an "export failed" error... but only on one report out of 5... when attempting to export to to a disk file. Turns out a picture object got corrupted and lost it's height component, the graphic went missing even though the object was still on the report, and attempting to set the height in the dialog didn't help. Copying the graphic in again seems to have fixed it for now... but who knows for how long.
And yet again I have a report that runs a stored procedure which takes only seconds to run on the database, but never returns when run with the same parameters through crystal (AND somehow locks up SQL Server... THIS I don't get AT ALL, it's a stored proc, crystal isn't accessing tables directly, the proc should simply execute and return, so how are locks/transactions being held?? Of course they wont give me sa access so I cant see what's happening on the server) Changing from ODBC to OLEDB makes no difference. AND I discovered that copying drawing objects from one report to another often causes the crystal IDE to crash, losing all unsaved work. YEAH!
    (End venting).

    I have tried all options:

Re-run setup - Not possible since it is already installed
Removed an HID Keyboard since it could be a conflict
    Re-assigned all quick buttons
The questions now: What is left to do...
The Volume Control works perfectly, it is just enoying to have an error message every time I start up the PC.
    I use Win 7 Professional.
I see two keyboard classes in Registry, is that a cause?

    Hi,
What's the error message when system start up? It would be better to provide a screenshot for this phenomenon.
Is there any error when Keyboard Center failed to start?
Please try to uninsall all keyboard driver in your computer, then restart your computer and reinstall keyboard center again for test.

  • EMC Initialization failed: WinRM HTTP error 403

We have an existing 2003R2 server running Exchange 2007. I have just installed a new 2012 R2 server with Exchange 2010 SP3 RU8v2. Opening the EMC on this new server yields the following error:
Connecting to remote server XXXXX.DOMAIN.LOCAL failed with the following error message; The client cannot connect to the destination specified in the request. Verify that the service on the destination is running and is accepting requests. Consult the logs
and documentation for the WS-Management service running on the destination, most commonly IIS or WinRM. If the destination is the WinRM service, run the following command on the destination to analyze and configure the WinRM service: "winrm quickconfig".
For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting help topic. It was running the command 'Discover-ExchangeServer -UseWIA $true -SuppressError $true -CurrentVersion 'Version 14.3 (Build 123.4)".
If I open EMS it attempts to connect three times, times out, prompts "Failed to connect to an Exchange server in the current site. Enter the server FQDN where you want to connect.:" I then type my servername.domainname.local and am prompted with
    the following error:
Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message: The WinRM client received an HTTP status code of 403 from the remote WS-Management service. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help Topic. FullyQualifiedErrorID:
    PSSessionOpenFailed
^^^My understand of this error is the connection is being established on 443 instead of 80. I have unchecked SSL from powershell and was able to telnet to the old server (2007 exch box) via 80, so I know the port and traffic is open.
I think this is an issue with IIS on the older 2007 server. Obviously I can't use WinRM Quickconfig on that server (2003 R2) and I noticed that there is no "powershell" module in default site in IIS on this box.
On the server 2007 box if I run 'get-exchangeserver' from powershell it shows both the old and the new server. However the old server is not able to connect to the console at all and I can't verify that it's actively able to manage my exchange forest.
    Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

    Hi ,
    Thank you for your question.
This error could be caused by many reasons, for example: IIS authentication, Win RM and so on.We could refer to the following link to troubleshoot:
    1. Make sure we have enough permission to open EMC;
    2. We could run “WinRM QuickConfig” to make sure IIS WinRM extension is installed:
    3. Open IIS go to Powershell virtual directory and check that SSL in disabled and authentification is set only to Anonymous;
    4. If the issue persist, we could use Exchange Management Console Troubleshooter
tool to analysis the error and send error information to
    [email protected] for our troubleshooting.
Permissions required: In order to run the troubleshooter, the user will have to have the rights to log on locally to the Exchange server (due to local nature of the troubleshooter at this time) and will need permissions to run Windows
    PowerShell.
Installing the troubleshooter: First, we download the troubleshooter ZIP file, which we can find here. Installing the EMTshooter is pretty easy. Just drop the 4 files from the ZIP file into 1 folder, rename them to .ps1 and run
EMTshooter.ps1 from a normal (and local) PowerShell window. I personally just created a shortcut for it on my desktop with the following properties: C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe -noexit -command ". 'C:\EMTshooter\EMTshooter.ps1'"
However, as most users probably won't run this more than a few times we might not need or want an icon. Just remember that EMTshooter.ps1 is the main script to run.

  • Parameter with Dynamic prompt - bug encountered

I am using CRD XI release 2 (SP2) against an Oracle 10 release 2 database
I have a report fully working with a static parameter
    1. But I have an issue when trying to introduce a parameter with dynamic prompts
I have a data source (PointofSale retrieving data from a database view)
I am trying to have the newPointOfSale parameter to prompt the user for values taken out of the PointOfSale source.
I set up the parameter as indicated by the Crystal RD210 Guide.
But when I run the report I am prompted for Server Name(greyed out)/user name/password(something I have never had to do for this report until introducing the dynamic parameter)
In doubt I enter these of the database user I am using as a source for this report
I get a strange error message telling me there is a problem with another datasource on the report.
'Prompting failed with the following error message: 'List of Values failure: fail to get values. [Cause of erro: The table 'DLEX_REPORT.DLEX_REPORT_RETRIEVE.AIRLEGSUMMARY_SUM' could noyt be found. UNKNOWN.RPT]'.
Error source: prompt.ddl Error code 0x8004380D
There seem to be  bug with parameters and dynamic list of values in Crystal as other people seem to encounter similar issue
Is there a fix or a workaround?
    2. Also I believe this forum allows to escalate bugs with SAP/business objects. Does anyone know how to do this? As this is very obviously a bug....
    Thanks
    Philippe

I am not sure whether this will solve your problem since you are using a different implementation of Crystal Reports , but I've received the same error using CR XI Developer Release 2 in conjunction with the Crystal Reports Server XI Release 2.  My solution was to go into the Business View Manager application and fix the Data Connection object associated with the problematic Dynamic prompt by supplying a user name and password for the data connection object and setting the "Runtime Prompt Mode" property to "Never Prompt".  For some dumb reason, the Crystal Reports client will publish the data connection object to the Business Views database without any login credentials associated with it.  So after creating such a prompt in a report, you have perform this extra step before running the report the first time.  The good news is that if you reference this dynamic prompt in other reports, it will work - so you only need to fix it when it is first created.

  • Dynamic parameter - Failed to retrieve data from the database

I'm running  a report with dynamic parameters and this report ran successfully for 2 days . For no apparent reason they stopped and the error message was received.  There was no interference from head office soI'm at a loss to explain why the viewer / reports suddenly stopped working.
Now  I get the following message:

Error source: prompt.dll Error code: 0x8004380D
The report is running on a Oracle database using CR-Viewer XI Product version 12.01.1.r228_v20071114
I know there is a problem with dynamic parameters and citrix, but this is not run on citrix.

Is this report based or Enterprise based LOV?
If you have report published to BOEnterprise, then it automatically creates a chain of objects for any dynamic parameter:
    Data Connection,
    Data Foundation,
    Business View,
    Business Element
    and LOV.
Each of this objects have configurations like users rights, permissions and some have logon configuration. Failing any of those elements may cause LOV to fail.
One of the tests you may try is to test relevant Business View by connecting Crystal reports to it.
Are you familiar with Business View Manager?

  • How to resolve Error source: prompt.dll  Error code: 0x8004380D

We have recently migrated from BOXI R2 to R3. All the Crystal Reports are working except the one which have dynamic filters. Whenever we refresh/view the report we get following error message:
*Prompting failed with the following error message: 'List of Values failure: fail to get values. Cause of error: Failed to open the connection.
Error source: prompt.dll  Error code: 0x8004380D
The BOXI R2 server was 32 bit and the Crystal Report version was 11.0.0.1282. After searching here we upgraded the CR version on our R3 server to 11.5.8.826. The BOXI R3 server is Windows 2003 Enterprise x64 edition.
This is the only roadblock we are facing for our successful migration.

  • Failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute from Hello.jar???

    HI all
This is my first post, I hope its in the right section
I followed the tutorial on [http://www.cs.princeton.edu/introcs/85application/jar/jar.html|http://www.cs.princeton.edu/introcs/85application/jar/jar.html] and I tried out the simple example below
A simple example. Let's say we wanted to distribute the simple program Hello.java as a JAR. First, we create a text file named Hello.mf which contains:Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Main-Class: Hello
Then, we create the archive by typing:
    jar cmf Hello.mf Hello.jar Hello.class Hello.java
    and run it by typing:
    java -jar Hello.jar
But when I ran the command java -jar Hello.jar the following error message showed on my command prompt
Failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute from Hello.jar
I don't know what I have done wrong, i followed the tutorial to the letter.
Can anyone shed some light on whats going wrong please?
    Many thanks

Sorry about double post but i dont know whether editing my first one will bump the thread, and i need it bumped :).
I downloaded netbeans and I built my project and a jar file was created in oblong/dist (oblong is my project name) but again when i try to run the file the warning
Failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute from oblong.jar
appears and I dont know what i can do this time seen as i dont make the manifest file (read prior posts to see what i previously did wrong) , the compiler does it all for me so either im missing something that i have to do before building my project or netbeans is messing up for some strange reason. Can anyone provide insight?

    Hi All,

    Thanks For instructions Stratos,
I checked with the rights of all objects and they were inherited , I then changed them to Granted and I can login as an admin too.
But nothing is working , the error is still the same.
To my surprise when ever i bring the prompt in report it does make the prompt groups everytime it is used (like the numbers in end keep on increasing as i use the prompt ). Also in select expert when we bind the param it shows the list of values and ?param at the top. Only it doesnt do is fetch the data and fails to open connection.
Not sure whats going on wrong here

    Regards,
    Scott

    Hi,
    Try this,
Title: Error: "List of Values failure"prompt.dll Error code: 0x8004380D"
    Symptom
In Crystal Reports, reports using List of Values (LOV) based on a Business View are refreshed and after 5 minutes an error message appears:
Prompting failed with the following error message: "List of Values failure: fail to get values. [ Cause of error: CORBA_SystemException ].
Error source: prompt.dll Error code: 0x8004380D".
    Cause
This error message appears because there is a firewall between Crystal Reports and BusinessObjects Enterprise XI that is preventing the LOV from bringing back the data.
    Resolution
Turn off or disable the firewall.
Alternately, specify a CORBA port using an updated version of CRLOV.DLL that lets you choose one port for CORBA to use. Obtain the appropriate file  by doing the following:
Download the file update from the Downloads area of our web site.
    Open C:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\3.0\java\crconfig.xml in a text editor.
In the <DataDriverCommon> section add <BOEOrbPort>n</BOEOrbPort> where n is the number of the desired inbound port to use for CORBA.
Enable that port on the firewall to accept inbound traffic (along with the other ones Crystal Reports uses).
    The LOV reports run correctly.
    Thanks,
    Vinay.

  • Report does not show Title at first load (CR 11.5 SP3)

    Hello
I load an RPT from the file system, and then load data using an ADO disconnected recordset. At the end, the Report object is asigned to a CR Viewer. When the report appears, the Title is not shown. One has to press the "Refresh" button on the viewer so that the Title appears. By the way, the Title is assigned by code.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks a lot.

    Thank for the reply Dell,
I see the logic in adding the extra table and keeping it unlinked and I do know the crazy data that can come up if I use it linked to other tables or use the fields in other parts of the programming.
However, I've now tried it several times, creating the parameter on just the name alone, with the ID alone, etc. and I still only get a text box to type into.
I have made sure the original selection criteria
    {customer.Id} = {?Customer}
if from the original table, not the new one, which I assume you expected me to do.
So I decided to run the same report through CR XIR2.  When I update the Set Datasource Location, I am now getting the message
    "Invalid Argument provided.
Details: The alias requested 'company', contains a combination of characters which is not considered to be valid"
Company is a table containing information about the main company, not the customers.  The same message pops up for another table as well.
Then I get a message that says:
"Prompting failed with the following error message: 'List of Values failure: fail to get values. [Cause of error: The table company does not exist in the document.]'
Error source: prompt.dll Error code: 0x8004380D"
This appears to be a database access issue but I know the firewalls are not a problem because I can create a new report and get the LOV properly with the same database and same desktop computer.  I can take that report created in CR2011 and use it in CRXI also and get the proper LOV.  Is it possible I am dealing with template corruption because there were so many items imported into the static list before?

  • CR2011 Dynamic Parameter does not show list at all

I am upgrading some Crystal Reports from CR 8.5 to 2011.  Some would be better served by using a dynamic parameter to allow the user to select the data for the parameter from the database information.  I have created a dynamic parameter on the Customer ID and set the description to be the customer name.  I have set it to handle multiple values.
When I preview the report in the Crystal designer, I get a text box to type in but not a drop down.  To be clear, I am not talking about the LOV 1000 limit here.  There are only 50 customers in the sample file I am working with.  I tried turning the static parameter into a dynamic one, I deleted the original parameter and created a new one.
In case it matters, the parameter is only used as part of the selection formula and if I enter a proper customer id, it will retrieve the data.  This report has about 7 tables (no stored procedures or views) and a subreport of two tables that is linked to the main report on the customer id.  The parameter is only used on the main report for record selection.  The SQL statement in the main report and subreport did need to be reset when I first opened the report in CR2011 but I did that on both.  I have verified the database and the option to verify on first refresh is checked.  The original parameter did have an imported list of about 3000 customer names.  I tried exporting the CR template to a new file and while the file size changed, the behaviour did not.
When I create a brand new report on two of the tables, including the same customer table, and create the parameter the same way, it shows me the list properly in a dropdown at the prompt stage.
I am not sure where to go here or what else to try.  If anyone has any suggestions, I appreciate the help. TIA, rasinc
