Prompting password for account that doesn't exist...

Hi guys! My Mail doesn't prompt for passwords whenever I check for my Mail from other providers (Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, etc.). However, my Mail thinks that I have a MobileMe mail account, which I do not. Thus, it always prompts me for a password to that non-existent me.com account. This is pretty annoying. Does anybody know what's going on? Thanks!

iCloud has my old Apple ID and is prompting for a password, but I want to put in the new id, I can't because it is grey and there is no edit option.  I'm prompted for a password to an account that doesn't exist.  Anyone know what I can do to fix this or why this is happening.?  I had no issue putting in my new Apple ID everywhere else, I could sign out of the old and inactive account and then sign back in using my new and proper one.  However, after the update to 7.3 it did a whole welcome to yr iPad and a set up thing and it went to set up iCloud and had my old Apple ID in grey where I can't change or edit it, it wants the password, when I put in the old password, it say yr Apple ID is incorrect but yet it won't let me change it??????? Anyone???

Sign out and back into your apple id from Settings>iTunes and App stores>(Your apple ID)>Sign Out and then sign in again with the new address. Close app store from running in the background (or restart the phone if your unsure how to do this). If when trying to update any apps they are still asking for the old apple ID, delete and re-install those apps.

  • Itunes authorization for an account that doesn't exist?

My new MacBook is asking for an Itunes store authorization for a particular song under an account name that doesn't exist. My apple ID is an old e-mail address; I've already successfully authorized the computer to play songs from that account, into which I can log in with no difficultly. The account name that is supposedly attached to this song is a newer e-mail address (maybe I unsuccessfully tried to change the Apple ID at some point?), but when I click on "forgot password" in the authorization window, it says that the account for which it had prompted me to authorize doesn't exist. Suggestions?

  • TS1398 Network asking for username that doesn't exist

I'm trying to use a coffee house wifi with my new iPad 4 mini.  It's asking for a username that doesn't exist. Thoughts?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

  • Asks for a password on a account that doesn't exist

Hi there, I hope someone can help me with this problem.
Mail has a popup asking me to enter a password for a gmail account that is trying to connect to a smtp.mountaincable.net. I have deleted all the accounts from mail and went through keychain and deleted all the smtp and pop email accounts but this popup still persists. How can I remove this popup and delete this email account for good?
I setup mail with 3 email accounts, 2 @gmail and 1 @mountaincable.net. Somehow one of the gmail accounts has attempted to connect to smtp.mountaincable.net. I don't use this gmail account anymore.
I have searched this forum and seen others who have had similar issues but nothing has been able to resolve this issue for me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How do I delete an account to update to new Apple ID email if it wants the old password to an account that doesn't exist so it says incorrect. I can't move forward.

I Need to delete an old iCloud account in order to update to my new Apple ID email but in order to delete the old account I need the old account to verify and it won't bc it no longer exists. Please help

If the old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone, even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Deleting an iCloud account that doesn't exist

I am trying to delete my iCloud account from my iPhone 4S that is synced with my old iTunes email account that is no longer active. The problem is that it asks for the password in order to delete it, but it does not accept any password because the account is no longer valid. Even when trying to look up the old account or password through the "Forgot ID or Password" link, it says it cannot verify the username, even after I have put in all my old information.
I can log into iCloud.com on a desktop using the new username, but I can't change it to the new one on my iPhone 4S without having a password, which doesn't exist. So I am stuck.
    Any ideas?

I'm having a similar issue right now and I'm about to pull out my hair. I've talked to two Apple support guys, neither of which have helped me AT ALL.  They only told me to do what I have already done, so I'm not sure how well they listened to me, but they certainly didn't help me (no offense, Apple support).
I have done the "Erase All" option.  When I go through the first steps - choosing language, country, wi-fi network, etc., it gets to a screen where it asks whether you want to restore from icloud, restore from itunes, or set your phone up as a new device.  I have tried all three.  But I want to restore from iCloud with my current Apple ID, not my old one that apparently doesn't exist anymore (so stop asking for it!).
So.. when I restore from iCloud, it lets me type in my current iCloud Apple ID... great, right?!  However, once it gets to the menu (all of my stuff shows up, great again!) and I go into Settings > iCloud. it shows my OLD freakin' Apple ID and it asks for my password (which doesn't work). Why is it defaulting to my old, non-existent Apple ID even though I set it up to restore from my current one?! Same problem you're having. And yes, it still says the same thing at the bottom - that I can't delete this iCloud account because my iphone is being restored.  But I can't figure out what the heck is still downloading - by now I have deleted all my apps, my music is all there and fully downloaded... so it must be my pictures.  None of my pictures are showing up in my album even though it says that 652 pictures are downloading (it has been two days and not one picture has 'downloaded').  So if it's my pictures that are the problem, fine, although I'm not sure how to get around that. I have read about 73 other threads related to that issue with no resolution thus far.  So basically I'm stuck.
I am tempted to hit the Stop Restore button, but I don't want to lose those 652 pictures that are supposedly "downloading." I don't know if I'll lose them, but I'm too scared to find out.
I just don't know what to do. And the nearest Apple store to me is 150+ miles away

  • Purchased songs on an account that doesn't exist.

I'm trying to transfer songs from iPod to iTunes but there's a few songs that aren't transferring over. When I click them to authorize the "ID" block is auto populated. I click on my "forgot password" it opens up a browser and takes me to a page where I can recover my password. However I receive a error "User ID isn't valid". How do I find out what account that song was purchased on? I thought the auto populate did that. If so how come a song was purchased from a user ID doesn't exist?

If you changed your AppleID, it will still show the old one (as that is embedded in the song file) but you must change it to the new one when you enter it to authorize the computer.
    As an example....
You create an account with the ID of [email protected]
When you purchase a song, this will be embedded in the file so when you try to play it, it will autopopulate the ID field.
Later you move and change the ID to [email protected]
When you try to play a song, it will pop up with [email protected]
You need to change it to [email protected] and it will work.
The error you received is because the AppleID was changed so the old one does not exist, even though it shows up on the songs.
    If you go here -> https://iforgot.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/DSiForgot.woa/19/wo/E914DBZn8dX7zoi gjCkLpM/0.11.3.0.0.1
you can find out the correct/current AppleID for the old songs.

You can try to use some flashback query features to query undo data: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e17125/adfns_flashback.htm#insertedID0.

  • How do I remove folder action for folder that doesn't exist?

I set up a folder action to monitor a folder on a PC server. This server no longer exists but the folder action is still trying to monitor it. When I start the Folder Actions Setup it looks for that folder and cannot find it, throws an error and then tries to find the folder again, it does this indefinetly and I cannot open the Folder Action Setup util to delete the folder in question. I have deleted the plist files com.apple.folderactions.plist and com.apple.folderactionsetup.plist and I cannot

Did you restart the computer?  If not there may still be a process running.  You can look for the process in Activity Monitor as well as kill it using AM.  It's also possible that installing a folder action also installs a launch agent or daemon, so check inside those folders in the /Library/ folder and the /Home/Library/ folder to see if one is there that is associated with your old folder action.
Unfortunately, the normal way of uninstalling a folder action requires the old folder to which that action was attached.  I'm not sure just what OS X does when it creates and attaches a new folder action, so you may need to hunt around to find out if there are remaining pieces of it that still need to be removed.  A good search tool for this is Easy Find - MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.

  • Email to account that doesn't exist delivered

We don't have [email protected] user, but today we received a virus email addressed to that account.
How can this happen and what can I do to prevent?
    Dennis

    Hi Dennis,
According to your description, it seems that an email spoofing happened in your Exchange environment. Please check whether an Edge server or
Forefront Online Protection for Exchange(FOPE) is deployed in your
domain. Also make sure a SPF(Sender Policy Framework) record is configured
while configuring and using the Forefront Online Protection for Exchange (FOPE) service.
Sender Policy Framework is a record that is used to help prevent email spoofing. It allows you to specify all of the IP addresses that you would send mail from in one simple TXT record, and to tell the receiving server to only allow the outbound
    servers you listed.
For more information about how SPF records work with the FOPE service and to view additional SPF record examples, see the section titled

  • Just wondering if I'm looking for something that doesn't exist - can firefox automatically close the "print-preview" window after printing?

I'm using the addon in my firefox toolbar to print preview website data then append to a pdf file. Sometimes I am distracted, then can't remember if I've gone through the process and printed/appended the page to the file. It would be helpful if there was a way that the print preview window would close after printing thereby confirming that the process has completed. Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for your reply.
I'm running different versions of firefox on different computers. I'm aware of the upgrade procedures. Same issue in later versions as well.
The add-on is called "Print Preview Button 0.5" by sindre-wimberger which I obtained through the "Search Mozilla Support"
However, that's not really relevant - to bring this back to basics the same situation occurs if you do <File> <Print Preview> then print the document. The print preview screen remains until manually closed. Perhaps there is a setting in "about:config"? Does anyone know if this is so? There is an entry "print.whileinprintpreview" but not sure what setting does here. Suspect if set to "False" then you probably wouldn't be able to print from "Print Preview" screen.
    Thanks.

Have you tried changing the admin password in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Password   ??
The Apple ID that is associated with your admin password is noted there.
