Prompts for Reports

I have created a report with column prompt. I have also included this report in 'My Home Page custom report'. But when i access 'My Home Page' i dont see the Prompt, i only see the report with all columns & data. Have i skipped some step to include prompt on home page ? Thx for help

Hi,
The Column prompt of the report will not be displayed if the report placed in 'My Home Page custom report', if the same report URL is placed in the Home Page Web Applet in *‘Global Web Applets’* the prompts will be displayed, and only after selecting the prompted values the detail report is displayed.

  • CM14 BI Publisher Prompt For Reporting

    I am trying to re-create the Prompt For reporting from Infomaker in CM14. Does anyone have any potential solutions to this problem?

    I ran into this issue on a previous project and did some poking in BI Publisher to try and come up with something. I am not sure if there is a better way to do it, but I have a doc with the steps I followed that I can send you that outlines how to get prompts to work.

  • Crystal Report Viewer Credential Prompt for Report with Dynamic Parameters

    The .NET Crystal Report Viewer is prompting for database credentials when launching a report containing dynamic parameters. This only occurs for reports created with SAP Crystal Reports 2011 designer. Reports created with Crystal Reports XI designer (where dynamic parameters were first introduced) work correctly.
    The credential prompt window contains the following fields:
    - Server Name: <server name> (disabled)
    - Database Name: <database name> (disabled)
    - User Name: <empty> (enabled)
    - Password: <empty> (enabled)
    - Use Single Signon Key: false (disabled)
    The values in the prompt window which are disabled are the database connection values used during the design of the report in the SAP Crystal Reports 2011 designer.
    Expected Result:
    - No prompt for database credentials.
    - Values read from the database should be populated in a drop down for the dynamic parameters.
    Environment:
    - Visual Studio 2010 (C#)
    - Windows 7 Enterprise
    - SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine for .NET Framework 4
    - SAP Crystal Reports, version for Visual Studio 2010
    - SAP Crystal Reports 2011
    The database connection is being set to use a DSN. It must be a DSN as the calling application is only aware of the DSN/Username/Password values. These values are being passed to the Crystal Report Viewer contained in a Windows form.
    The database connection for the report is being set as follows:
    foreach (InternalConnectionInfo internalConnectionInfo in this.report.DataSourceConnections)
        // Must set the UseDSNProperties flag to True before setting the database connection otherwise the connection does not work
        if (internalConnectionInfo.LogonProperties.ContainsKey("UseDSNProperties"))
            internalConnectionInfo.LogonProperties.Set("UseDSNProperties", true);
        // Supposed to set the database connection for all objects in the report (ie. main report, tables, sub reports)
        internalConnectionInfo.SetConnection(this.DSN, string.Empty, this.LoginName, this.Password);
    The SetConnection method's signature is as follows:
       SetConnection(string server, string database, string name, string password)
    As you can see from the code snippet above I am setting the DSN name as the server parameter, blank for the database parameter (a database connection using DSN should only require DSN name/Username/Password) and the database username and password respectively.
    Is this a SAP bug?
    Is this the correct way of setting the database connection to use a DSN?
    Is there some other properties that need to be set somewhere else in the report through code?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for the pointer to the database connection code generator. After taking a look at the output from the tool I was able to finally get the dynamic parameters to load and populate properly without prompting for credentials. I needed to tweak the outputted code a bit to match my requirements of using a DSN only connection.
    Instead of updating the database connection properties contained within the Report.Database.Tables collection from the CrystalReports.Engine namespace, I changed it to replace the database connection properties in the Report.ReportClientDocument.DatabaseController.Database.Tables collection from the CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel namespace. For one reason or another, using the RAS namespace solved the problem.
    Below is the updated code with the change made:
    using RAPTable = CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.Table;
    foreach (InternalConnectionInfo internalConnectionInfo in this.report.DataSourceConnections)
        // Must set the UseDSNProperties flag to True before setting the database connection
        if (internalConnectionInfo.LogonProperties.ContainsKey("UseDSNProperties"))
            internalConnectionInfo.LogonProperties.Set("UseDSNProperties", true);
        // Sets the database connection for all objects in the report (ie. main report, tables, sub reports)
        internalConnectionInfo.SetConnection(this.DSN, string.Empty, this.LoginName, this.Password);
    // The attributes for the QE_LogonProperties which is part of the main property bag
    PropertyBag innerPropertyBag = new PropertyBag();
    innerPropertyBag.Add("DSN", this.DSN);
    innerPropertyBag.Add("UserID", this.LoginName);
    innerPropertyBag.Add("Password", this.Password);
    innerPropertyBag.Add("UseDSNProperties", "true");
    // The attributes collection of the tables ConnectionInfo object
    PropertyBag mainPropertyBag = new PropertyBag();
    mainPropertyBag.Add("Database DLL", "crdb_ado.dll");
    mainPropertyBag.Add("QE_DatabaseType", "OLE DB (ADO)");
    mainPropertyBag.Add("QE_LogonProperties", innerPropertyBag);
    // Pass the database properties to a connection info object
    ConnectionInfo connectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo();
    connectionInfo.Attributes = mainPropertyBag;
    connectionInfo.Kind = CrConnectionInfoKindEnum.crConnectionInfoKindCRQE;
    connectionInfo.UserName = this.LoginName;
    connectionInfo.Password = this.Password;
    // Replace the database connection properties of each table in the report
    foreach (RAPTable oldTable in this.report.ReportClientDocument.DatabaseController.Database.Tables)
        RAPTable table = new RAPTable();
        table.ConnectionInfo = connectionInfo;
        table.Name = oldTable.Name;
        table.QualifiedName = oldTable.QualifiedName;
        table.Alias = oldTable.Alias;
        this.report.ReportClientDocument.DatabaseController.SetTableLocation(oldTable, table);
    this.report.VerifyDatabase();
    Thanks again Ludek for the help.

  • Dashboard prompt for report which displays curent and previous FY

    We have a dashboard with the prompt for the FY and one of the reports on the dashboard should show results for selected FY and previous FY. Report has filters Fiscal Year is greater than or equal to PREVIOUS_FSCL_YEAR AND Fiscal Year is less than or equal to CURRENT_FSCL_YEAR. However if filters are not protected report will display only results for FY selected in prompt but if they are protected it will then ignore prompt. Any idea how to resolve this issue? We need this solution if FY 2009 is selected in the prompt report will display results for FY2008 and FY2009 or if FY 2010 is selected report will display results for FY2009 and FY2010.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You can do this by creating a dynamic variable in the RPD for the current year as:
    SELECT (TO_CHAR(sysdate,'YYYY')) from dual. This will produce Current Year value.
    In the Answers for the report which refers to the Year Column. Make a filter from the Year Column. While making filter Click on 'Advanced' in the Filter--> Convert this filter to SQL. And inside it write this forumla: Column_name_will come=VALUEOF(Dynamic_Variable_Name)
    For Example-"Time Period Year"."Calendar Year" = VALUEOF("Current_Year_Var")
    Make similar filter and write the SQL Filter as- "Time Period Year"."Calendar Year" = VALUEOF("Current_Year_Var")-1
    (This will give you the last year value)
    And important is make it as 'OR' condition between the two filters.
    Hope this will resolve your problem. Let me know further

  • Prompt for report parameters

    Is it possible to change the parameter prompts using a function?
    I'm looking to use a look-up based on a culture code for two different languages and I don't want to re-create a suite of 20+ reports.
    Fingers crossed that some clever sole has a solution...

    A very simple solution below, any problems give me a shout...
    ALTER PROC DynamicSelect(@Lang NVARCHAR(20)) AS BEGIN
    IF @Lang IN ('en-GB','en-US')
    SELECT '1' val,'en_1' lang UNION
    SELECT '2','en_2'
    IF @Lang='de'
    SELECT '1' val,'de_1' lang UNION
    SELECT '2','de_2'
    END
    Create a new paramter @Lang, set this parameter to hidden, and set the default value to the language of the report user as below.
    Add the dataset from the proc above, and set as you require.

  • Report does not prompt for parameters when SeparatePages=False

    Hi all. We are using CR2008 Basic w/SP1 along with VS2008. Within our application, reports pull up fine and prompt for parameters using the CrystalReportViewer against the web service. SeparatePages is set to True. We want to change SeparatePages to False, but when I do that any report that should prompt for parameters is not.
    The reports were created in CR 8.5. We have upgraded them to CR2008 (open, refresh, save) which has greatly increased performance. With some further testing, I've discovered that if I take a report that doesn't currently have any parameters and add one via VS2008 report designer, it WILL prompt for the parameter when I run it in our application with SeparatePages=False.
    So I'm leaning that the problem has to do with the reports originally being created in 8.5. I've tried modifying an existing report with parameters, deleting parameters and re-adding, but I still can't get these to prompt for parameters with SeparatePages=False.
    Again, these same reports prompt for parms and work fine as long as SeparatePages=True.  I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this. There are over 400 reports so re-creating them from scratch under CR2008 will be a painful option
    If I need to provide any additional information just let me know. Thank you!
    Sheila

    We are still working to resolve this issue. Testing has shown that for reports that don't return a lot of data, the prompt for parameters will display. But for larger reports, we just see the hour glass and the parameter prompt never displays. It's almost like the reports are trying to return the full dataset without any paramters being passed BEFORE it will prompt for parameters. This would explain why smaller reports will prompt and larger reports never will (?). Not sure that is what is happening.  Again, with SeparatePages=True we are immediately given the parameter prompt. With SeparatePages=False we run into the issue of no prompts.
    Here's the code behind if it help:
    ReportDocument report = new ReportDocument();
    try
        String rptFileName = @"App_Data\Reports\" + Request.QueryString.GetValues(0).GetValue(0).ToString();
        log.writeLog("Loading Report: " + rptFileName);
        String rptFile = Server.MapPath(rptFileName);
        report.Load(rptFile);
        report.Refresh();
        ConnectionInfo crConnectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo();
        log.writeDebugLog("ServerName : " + rProperties.ODBCSource);
        crConnectionInfo.ServerName = rProperties.ODBCSource;
        log.writeDebugLog("DatabaseName : " + rProperties.ODBCSource);
        crConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = rProperties.ODBCSource;
        log.writeDebugLog("UserID : " + rProperties.ODBCUser);
        crConnectionInfo.UserID = rProperties.ODBCUser;
        log.writeDebugLog("Password : " + rProperties.ODBCPassword);
        crConnectionInfo.Password = rProperties.ODBCPassword;
        foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table table in report.Database.Tables)
            TableLogOnInfo crTableLogOnInfo = new TableLogOnInfo();
            crTableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectionInfo;
            table.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogOnInfo);
    catch (Exception err)
        log.writeLog("Error Loading Report: " + err.ToString());
        this.lblError.Text = err.ToString();
        this.ErrorTable.Visible = true;
        this.ReportTable.Visible = false;
        return;
    CrystalReportViewer1.HasCrystalLogo = false;
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = report; // _serverFileReport;

  • Preview and print a Crystal report prompted for the sa password

    Dear All,
    Our customer has Crystal report add-on to be installed. When we Preview and print a Crystal report, we got a window prompted for the sa password. Even we type in a correct password, it still says wrong password...
    Every time when I open my report in Crystal Basic 2008 on the server, then go database expert >> My connections >> click + in front of the connection name, it asks my sa password. I type in my password then save and close. Next time when I open the report and go my connections, I have to type in my password again. This only happens on one customer.
    Any idea? Thanks a lot.
    Regards,
    Yuka

    Hi Yuka,
    1) All their SAP client workstation, they have to have use SQL2008 CD and install SQL Client on it
    Correct, MS does NOT support MDAC or WDAC when connecting to SQL 2008.
    2) Then go ODBC >> SQL Native Client 10.0 >> Create a new connection to SAP server. Should we use sa user or another use that has the same authorization as sa?
    Correct again if they are also using ODBC to connect, as for using the sa account or creating a new one is up to you. I suggest creating a Crystal account with what ever rights your app needs, this way if tracing it turned on etc. you can confirm who is actually running the report.
    3) Then from MY Crystal report, I have to use ODBC connection as well?
    Just to clarify, if you created your reprots using OLE DB then they can do so also. But you need to update your connection properties. Open each report click on Database, Set Location, scroll down to OLE DB and expand and then choose MS SQL Server Native 10 as your OLE DB provider, fill in all the logon info and then verify the database. Do the same for each subreport also.
    Save your report and either send them the new one or if you are doing this remotely then replace the original report.
    VERIFY your reports to confirm they still return correct data and do work as expected.
    Or if you are using ODBC then yes you do select the MS 10 driver with a new DSN. Then do the above to update the reports to all use ODBC as their data sources.
    Hope this is all clear now....
    Thanks again

  • Run report with SSO/OAM by URL without prompt for uid/pwd?

    Can I run a report by URL to a report engine protected by SSO/OAM without being prompted for credentials?  Asking the same in another way, is there a way to pass the SSO/OAM credentials in the URL (or otherwise) to avoid being prompted for them?  I find many references to how to do this for the database connection credentials, but I'm trying to pass the SSO/OAM credentials on the URL.  My end game is to be able to run a report from VB.NET from a kiosk application in VB.NET where there is no attendant and client does not want to have to log into SSO/OAM at any time.  My VB.NET code will submit the URL, grab the output and manage the work stream (print, save, store to doc repos, etc.) in the kiosk code.
    Thanks in advance

    For the sake of those that come later with this same question:
    It turns out there is a way to do this after all.  I opened an SR with MOS and with a little trial and error we worked out that the following does work:
    http://<theFormsReportsServer>:9002/reports/rwservlet?report=myTestReport.rdf&authid=myOAMUserId/mySSOPasswd&userid=dbUid/dbPwdK@DbTnsEntryName&destype=cache&desformat=html
    Note that there are two necessary bits to this in addition to specifying the authid=SSO Credentials part.  The first is that you must use the WLS_REPORTS port (9002 in our case), not the OHS port (8888 in our case).  The other is that you must provide the database connection.  I have done it overtly in this syntax by specifying userid=DbCredentials@Db, but it should also work to substitute the ssoconn functionality in order to hide the Db credentials.  That is not an issue in our environment so i have not actually tested it.

  • Selecting multiple values in a prompt for a BI Publisher report

    Hi,
    I selected multiple values in a prompt for a BI Publisher report and ran the report. The report run fine with single value. But it run to error with mutiliple value. The Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher version is release 11g (11.1.1).
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for your replies !
    Is there any other way to achieve this ?
    There is 1 InfoObject which has 2 fields Employee and Department.
    Employee     Department
    001                A
    001                B
    001                C
    In the report there should be 1 row for Employee 001 with all the Departments displayed in the same cell separated by commas.
    Can this be done in the backend through a ABAP code?

  • 1 User Prompt for 2 rows in Financial Reporting ?

    Hello,
    for 2 years, I am struggling with following-
    we have very detailled (detailled in 2 or 3 dimensions - let's say here: CBU and CostCenter ) reports, which run very long
    in order to give user the overview/total as well, we want to give the total over all 2 or 3 dimensions only
    the user should be allowed to choose 1 or more values (CBUs) via user prompt
    current workaround is to have 2 user prompts (1 for detailled combinations) and (1 for total) and asking the user to fill the CBU 2 times
    if user is not chosing same CBU(s), then report is inconsistant:
    as many people have to use dozens of values and because there is no select all/ deselect all function - the handling is very annoying for the users.
    Sample Report Definition
    ...........................................Dimension 1...........................................Dimension 2
    Row 1 (of report definition): Descendants of Prompt for CBUs..............Descendants of Costcenter
    Row 2 (of report definition): Prompt for CBUs....................................Costcenter Total
    by this, we get a sample output like this: (Projects are the level 0 members of CBUs in CBU dimension)
    ...........................................Project A from CBU I.....................CostCenter X...............50
    ...........................................Project A from CBU I.....................CostCenter Y...............20
    ...........................................Project B from CBU II....................CostCenter X...............10
    ...........................................Project C from CBU III...................CostCenter Z...............100
    ...........................................Project D from CBU III...................CostCenter X...............200
    ...........................................CBU I..........................................CostCenter Total..........70
    ...........................................CBU II.........................................CostCenter Total..........10
    ...........................................CBU III........................................CostCenter Total..........300
    Problem is:
    I would like to define for
    Row 2 Prompt for CBUs
    and for
    Row 1 Descendants of Same as Row 2
    but then I get the error "5200 : Error executing query: +Server+/+Application+/+Database+/+User+/Error(1001005) Unknown Member [Same As Row  2] in Report
    any idea how to workaround with that ? (have same problem with *Children of Same as Row 2*
    I tried to combine *Same as Row 2* with *RelativeMember & Offset -1* definition in reporting is then: Relative to Same As Row 2 offset by -1
    - but no success - all I achieve is a true Same as - resulting in duplication of all data of Row 2 and nothing from row 1.
    Any other ideas, how to combine a same as function with functions like parent,children,descendants or relative member ? Did I do anything wrong in combining them or is the relativemember function not working in 9.3.1 ?
    Please note, that these detailled reports typicially run 10 to 20 minutes - so telling users to run 2 reports or including lot's of not needed data or first retrieving and then hiding again is not really helpful - I would also not ask, if this function was not used in dozens of reports.
    The user prompt function in financial reporting is the most used functionality in our reports- the users run approx. 100 reports a day - and fill between 3 and 10 user prompts (with a lot of default values & substitution variables) - this appeared the most efficient way for unexperienced users, who need different data every day.
    unfortunately, it does not allow the report designer to allow either 1 or many values
    it seems to struggle with our special request of "children of same as"
    and it has no "select all" / "unselect all" button - which would allow the user to select all/none of the Choices List, defined in the user prompt.
    Please do not recommend usage of Analyzer - this tool is far to slow, has no cancel button and the users simply go lost.
    Smartview is too risky for majority of our users, as they would use the refresh button only - and not zoom in & zoom out - and miss a lot of new combinations by using old smartview-excel-templates (from previous month/forecast)
    Any help on any of these items would be highly recommended.

    If I understand correctly you would only have one CBU on any given report.
    Instead of prompting for Row 2 and pulling the totals from the Outline. You could delete your current Row2 and have the report provide the totals based on the data results from ROW 1. Insert a row formula for Row 2 and sum the results for that paticular column.
    Formula:
    Sum([1])

    Could you clarify some things? You are saying you are trying to transform the xml output of a webservice with an xsd, but an xsd is a schema that describes the allowed format of a xml file. If you want to transform xml from one format to an other (from one xsd to an other) you have to use a xsl file. You can make and test this with JDeveloper. Are you calling the webservice from esb or bpel?

  • Crystal Report doesn't prompt for SAP credentials / errors out on refresh

    2 Environments tested with same results:
    <p>
    BOE XI 3.1 SP2 & BOE XI 3.1 SP2 FP2.5<br>
    SAP Intg Kit on mirrored SP/FP levels in each environment.
    <p>
    We've been successfully creating Crystal Reports against BEx queries in BW for months now as well as ECC master data.  We've also built universes and have WebI reports actively working against similar BEx queries in the same.  However, we're getting some curious behavior when we refresh the Crystal Reports against BEx queries in BW.  Verified all necessary transports and authorizations have been provided for both authoring, as well as refreshing/viewing on demand, etc.
    <p>
    We've setup all the Crystal Reports we're testing to:
    <p>
    a) Use custom database logon information specified here.<br>
    b) Specify a custom driver, leveraging the crdb_bwmdx driver<br>
    c) Prompt the user for database login
    <p>
    We have not enabled SNC as of yet.
    <p>
    1) When we refresh a WebI report hitting a BEx query with security applied, it doesn't prompt for the credentials, but we confirmed through tracing on the SAP side that if the user hits a paramater it has access to, the data comes through and when we hit a paramater they do not have access to, we can clearly see SAP reject it and it spits out a logical error on the BO side in InfoView and in the WebI logs on the BO server.
    <p>
    2) When we refresh a Crystal Report hitting ECC data, we are prompted for the SAP credentials and everything works as expected
    <p>
    However:
    <p>
    3) When we refresh a Crystal Report hitting a BEx query in BW, we are not promtped for SAP credentials.  We immediately get the "LOV" prompts.  Now, if we use a test user in SAP that has NO SECURITY restrictions at all and open access to the query, the data comes through.  However, as soon as any security is applied to the query level, even if it is SAP ALL, we cannot retrieve the data.  Tracing is also strange, as we can see on the SAP side it buffer the selected paramaters, but unlike with the WebI reports, it never shows it reaching the point where it checks each paramater against what the role has access to.  An error is then spit back.  We run the same queries with the same users within SAP and get normal behavior.  It's as though as soon as we apply security to the query the mdx driver doesn't like it.  Dependant on the type of InfoView viewer we use, the errors we consistently get on the BO side are:
    <p>
    Interactive Viewer: "Error in File %reportname%: Encapsulating Page Failed"<br>
    Java Viewer:  "Error in File %reportname%: Database Connection Error"
    <p>
    Nothing glaring in the event logs on the BO servers or in the Crystal logs that I can see, however just because it isn't spitting a specific error in the crystal logs doesn't mean I'm not missing something because I don't know what to look for behavior wise. To reduce the liklihood that it has to do with the way the report was built, we've tried against the same query by building a report using standard methods, as well as the SAP Toolbar using a very plain jane report.  Same behavior.
    <p>
    Thoughts?

Tracing is also strange, as we can see on the SAP side it buffer the selected paramaters, but unlike with the WebI reports, it never shows it reaching the point where it checks each paramater against what the role has access to. An error is then spit back. We run the same queries with the same users within SAP and get normal behavior. It's as though as soon as we apply security to the query the mdx driver doesn't like it. Dependant on the type of InfoView viewer we use, the errors we consistently get on the BO side are:
    >> The user is using which authentication ? and against which system does he log on ?
    >> You mentioned security restrictions and I assume we talk about BI authorizations in form of data level security. If so - does the BW query include the authorization variables ?

  • Report sometimes prompts for database logon prior to execution

    I have installed the Crystal Reports Integration Addon on our system and it works correclty for users on our terminal services server.  But when I installed it on a user's PC running Windows XP, when I go to execute an existing report, the Runtime viewer launches, and then displays a Database logon panel with the Server field filled in, the database field is blank, and the SA user and password fields are populated, and I get an error that says logon failed.  I type in the SA user id and password, but get the same error.
    If the same user logs onto the TS server, the runtime viewer launches correctly and the report prompts for input, then displays the appropriate data (no database logon is requested). But if it runs at that user's workstation, the viewer launches, and then prompts for database logon.
    We are running SAP 2007A SP00 PL47, CR Basic 2008 for SAP Business One, and the runtime viewer is Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime SP1. version 2.0.0.7

    Hi Bruce,
    I am not sure what the problem is.
    The only workaround I can think of is to change the Integrated Security in the report to true. This means that you will be using Windows Authentication as opposed SQL Authentication. This will not prompt for SQL username and password.
    Usually this is NOT an ideal process as you will have to Add each and every Windows user in the SQL Database you are trying to access. For example, you have to add DOMAIN_NAME\User_Name under the Database Properties.
    I am not sure what the minimum security you need to run the report. You will try a few different options and see what works best for you. Avoid permissions that would give users ability to write to the SQL database.
    Again, I know this is not ideal. But I am not sure what else can be done here.
