Prompts parameters disappear when reschedule a instance from history
Dear All,
In BI 4.1 launch pad, when I reshceudle a report using an instance from the history, the prompt values given for that instances disappear for all prompts and need to enter all the parameters again. This happens only when I click the prompt icon on the schedule window, otherwise the parameters are retained and the report can be scheduled with the previous given parameters.
As a result, I have to run either with previuos selected parameters or need to input all prompts again, no way to change only certain prompts and keep the previous parameters for the rest.
In XI 3.1, the prompt parameters will be retained of that instance during reschedule and we can change certain prompts parameters as per our requirement and rest we can leave with the previuos parameters.
Is this the funcitonality or bug or any settings available to retain the prompt inputs.
Regards,
Ravi
"This happens only when I click the prompt icon on the schedule window, otherwise the parameters are retained and the report can be scheduled with the previous given parameters"
I test a WebI report with prompt on a BI4.1 SP05, and the Prompt's values are retained when reschedule and modify the Prompt. Can you check your BI4.x production version and let us know if this problem is replicated on your BI4.1 SP05 or above? Regards, Jin-Chong

Parameters disappear when trying to run a workbook in Discoverer Viewer
Please help! We have a number of workbooks that were working previously, but have started exhibiting this strange behavior for certain users. They go to Discoverer Viewer, select the desired worksheet, and enter their parameters. When they hit Go, the form immediately resets; no results are returned, and all of the parameter fields are cleared. Can anyone tell me what's going on?
-DaveHi Dave,
I had a similar issue awhile back. It was related to the item class for the input parameter. The item class was being built off a table that the user was not given access to. This was in a data warehouse environment. Maybe, it's just a matter of granting access to the table for the user.

Preventing duplicate form submission when page is loaded from history
Hi
We have record insertion forms some of which insert unique
records into sql databases and some which may not. Is there a way
of stopping the user pulling the page from history (or using the
back button) and then resubmitting the data?
I have put a trigger on the databases that basically updates
existing data rather than re-inserting it if a duplicate is entered
but as some of the record submissions are not unique this isn't
always possible. I would also rather restrict the submission client
side to reduce bandwidth and database calls.
I have tried various 'no caching' techniques on the page but
none seem to work. Anyone have any bright ideas ... I am all out of
ideas bright or not!!!
TIA
KarenKaren
I have used session variables to control this sort of thing.
Basically the
insert/update statement tests for the existance of a variable
with a
particular name. If no variable exists then this will
indicate that the
request is coming from a history file, and it will not allow
the process.
Equally as part of the insert process change the value in the
variable and
do not allow and insert if the variable holds that value.

Original photos disappear when exporting retouched photos from iPhoto
BACKGROUND:
I have a folder of, say, 15 photos.
I open them in iPhoto and retouch them.
I export the photos and IMMEDIATELY am confronted with the message that they can't be exported because the originals cannot be found.
I go to the original folder of 15 photos and it is completely empty.
The missing photos aren't in the Trash, they are no-where. A search finds NOTHING but the ones in iPhoto.
If I try to copy the photos in iPhoto and paste them into the original folder from which they came, they create ALIASes and the picture doesn't show up ... just a JPEG icon.
If I export photos one at a time, the originals don't disappear, but if I try to export even two in the same procedure, all original photos disappear.
Obviously, this is AWFUL because my photos are gone, vanished, nowhere to be found.
What's wrong with my machine?
(I don't even know what version of iPhoto I'm using ... how do I find that information?)TO LARRYHN
"Please describe your work flow in some detail ..." (brace yourself)
=====
IN A NUTSHELL: Whenever exporting anything from iPhoto, the original photos in Finder VANISH. Poof! They're gone. Thus, I disagree with your and Terence Devlin's comment that "iPhoto has no ability to manipulate files stored outside the iPhoto Library." My uninformed guess is that I need to re-install my OS or at least iPhoto.
BACKGROUND: Yes, I held down the Option key when launching iPhoto and chose CREATE LIBRARY from the resulting menu. Ever since doing that, the problem is the same EXCEPT that iPhoto now hangs virtually EVERY TIME I try to export. AFTER deleting the original files, of course
=====
INITIAL STEPS LEADING UP TO THE EXPORT PROCESS:
(1) From my camera, I import photos into a Desktop folder. Let's say, for this example, there are five photos (test1.jpg, test2.jpg, test3.jpg, test4.jpg and test5.jpg).
(2) I open them in PREVIEW, manipulate them (some need to be rotated). I save all changes.
(3) I need to remove some blemishes (hey, I'm not perfect). I select all 5 photos, CONTROL+CLICK and choose OPEN WITH ... iPhoto.
(4) iPhoto opens, and test1.jpg, test2.jpg, test3.jpg, test4.jpg and test5.jpg are in a new UNTITLED EVENT.
(5) As confirmation, I open Finder, navigate to the Desktop folder and confirm that the five original photos are still present.
Now here's where things go awry and I'll outline everything I've done:
NOTE: For all of these examples, I am not going to spend time to EDIT the photos in iPhoto. I am simply leaving the 5 photos I just imported untouched in an UNTITLED EVENT. (If I edit them, the results are the same, so I'm not going to waste my time.)
EXAMPLE ONE: EXPORTING ONE PHOTO AT A TIME
(6) I select test1.jpg (from UNTITLED EVENT) and choose FILE/EXPORT.
(7) The EXPORT PHOTO screen appears, and, without making any changes to the default settings (Kind: Current, Jpeg Quality: Medium, etc.), I select EXPORT.
(8) A screen appears: ALERT - The photo test1.jpg could not be opened because the original cannot be found."
(9) I choose FIND PHOTO and navigate to the original desktop folder containing the original 5 photos. I confirm that test1.jpg is there.
(10) I choose OK.
(11) The EXPORT PHOTOS screen appears reading, "test1.jpg already exists. Do you want to replace it?"
(12) I select REPLACE and a screen appears "Exporting ... 1 of 1" and IMMEDIATELY another screen appears in front of that reading, "ALERT - The photo test1.jpg could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found." (You will recall that just seconds ago, it was definitely there!)
(13) I choose FIND PHOTO ... and iPhoto hangs and must be shut down using FORCE QUIT.
(14) Just for grins & giggles, I check the Desktop folder to be sure test1.jpg is still there ... and it is.
EXAMPLE TWO: EXPORTING ONE PHOTO AT A TIME (and hopefully doing so w/o iPhoto hanging)
(6) In iPhoto, I select test1.jpg (from UNTITLED EVENT) and choose FILE/EXPORT.
I confirm that test1.jpg is present.
(10) I click on OK.
(11) The EXPORT PHOTOS screen appears reading, "test1.jpg already exists. Do you want to replace it?"
(12) I select REPLACE and a screen appears "Exporting ... 1 of 1" and IMMEDIATELY another screen appears in front of that reading, "ALERT - The photo test1.jpg could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found." (You will recall that just seconds ago, it was SO present that iPhoto confirmed I wanted to replace it!)
(13) I choose FIND PHOTO and navigate to the Desktop folder and, sure enough, there is no test1.jpg. One second ago, it was there but as soon as I chose REPLACE from iPhoto, it disappeared. I mean it's gone. It's not in the trash, it's not in the folder. It has vanished. Only test2.jpg through test5.jpg remain.
EXAMPLE THREE: EXPORTING ALL 5 PHOTOS AT ONCE
(I recreate the Desktop folder so it once again contains five photos ... test1.jpg through test5.jpg)
(6) In iPhoto, I select all 5 photos (test1.jpg, test2.jpg, test3.jpg, test4.jpg and test5.jpg ... from UNTITLED EVENT) and choose FILE/EXPORT.
(7) The EXPORT PHOTO screen appears, and, without making any changes to the default settings (Kind: Current, Jpeg Quality: Medium, etc.), I select EXPORT.
NOTE: In this example, iPhoto voluntarily navigated to the original Desktop folder ... it didn't make me search for the photos.
(8) A screen appears: FILES EXIST - test1.jpg and 4 other files already exist at the destination. Do you want to replace them?
(9) I select REPLACE and a screen appears "Exporting ... Exporting Image 1 of 5 and IMMEDIATELY another screen appears in front of that reading, "Alert, The photo test1.jpg could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found."
(10) I select FIND PHOTO and navigate to the Desktop folder and the folder is complete empty. All 5 photos have vanished.
====
QUESTION: Since all of my original photos have disappeared, how can I recreate them? I spent a month through-hiking the JMT this summer and you can imagine what a tragedy it was to find that virtually every one of my photos has disappeared and I have no way of replacing them. I can see them in iPhoto, but I can't bring them OUT of iPhoto and back into a Finder folder.)
=====
AS AN ASIDE ... when I have to FORCE QUIT of iPhoto, I am given the opportunity to REPORT or IGNORE. If I choose REPORT, a screen appears reading that the transmission failed and that I should "try again later." This has been happening for quite some time. I cannot create a connection between my computer and Apple to report any problems.
Here's the information contained in the Problem Report for iPhoto:

Execute custom code when grabbing an instance from inbox
Hey Guys,
I work with ALBPM 5.7 and we need to execute some basic custom code (such as updating a custom db) when an instance is grabbed from the inbox. Is there a way to do this?
I would think there would be a handler or something available, that we can plug in.
Basically, when an instance is grabbed from the inbox, it does get assigned to the participant. I need to execute some code so the participant name goes to the custom db too. Any suggestions?
thanksHi,
Adding a screenflow just like when you add a screenflow for an Interactive activity.
1) right mouse click the Grab activity
2) click "Main task"
3) select "Screenflow" from the implementation type dropdown
4) click the "New" button.
5) name the screenflow
6) click "Next"
7) decide what variables you want to come into (usually just the BPM object in your process) and what you want to go out of the screenflow (usually just the BPM Object, result and action variables)
8) click "Next"
9) click "Finish"
10) click "Ok"
11) click "Ok"
Hope this helps,
Dan -
Pictures disappear when I move/copy from USB to mac Mini.
Why the system deletes the pics? It started when I upgraded to Lion. It begins the copy but at the end just vanish from the folder.
I´m having a lot of trouble since I work on a magazine and almost all the pictures from the brands comes in USB sticks.
Please help.I had a problem copying any image files in LION. Thumb drive to MBPro (vice-versa) or even using finder to copy/paste or duplicate. The progress bar would go through the steps, but the final files vanished. Folders would copy and be empty.
I went to the Apple Store Genius Bar and the beautiful young genius proved she was just that.
She verified that the problem existed and was repeatable. She then wen to the guest account and tried it there where it did NOT occur. This told her that it was my login's issue.
She deleted: com.apple.finder.plist & com.apple.finder.plist.lockfile from my preferences and my issue was gone. They are just preferences, so there is little harm in trashing them and trying. I had to redo some passwords the computer now forgot, but at least I can copy.
Don't know if this will help anybody else, but it seems some people have run into an issue similar to mine. -
'Destinations' is missing when rescheduling WEBI instance (BOBJ 4.00)
BOBJ allows to specify u2018Destinationsu2019 ( u2018Default Enterprise Locationu2019, u2018BI Inboxu2019, u2018Emailu2019, etc. ) when reoccurring instance is created.
However when I try to modify existing reoccurring instance u2018Destinationsu2019 cannot be changed. u2018Destinationsu2019 is not even displayed on sidebar when modifying existing reoccurring instance.
Is this feature or issue or security setting that needs to be modified?
There is no issue with changing destination for existing reoccurring instance of Crystal report.
We are using version BOE version 4.0 SP2 P5Hello,
seems ADAPT01575250 - Schedule Destination Options missing for re-scheduling of succesfull or recurring Web documents, fixed in Patch 2.9

Reports with prompting stop working when moved from Crystal10 to crystal 11
Issue:
We are having trouble with Crystal Reports XI. It appears that the Crystal 10 runtime included the ability to process reports that used prompting. If we run the same report with the Crystal XI runtime, it fails.
I can send a sample of the report.
Error Dialog:
Title: Internet Explorer Script Error

Yes/No
Our Configuration:
We use Merge Modules that install Crystal Reports through the browser via a CAB file that we created. It runs a setup executable
The setup executable project that installs CR XI uses the following Merge Modules:
CrystalReports11_RDC_Reportengine.msm
CrystalReports11_RDC_Runtime.msm
CrystalReports11_HotFix_Merge.msm (This is contrived by us from one of your hot fixes)
Observation:
When the install is finished, the folder structure under u2026. Crystalviewers11/prompting do not have any files like they do if we install the development environment.
Question:
What do we need to do to correct this situation?
*why the reports with*
*prompting stops working when it is moved from a Crystal 10 to Crystal 11*
*environment. I believe that it has something to do with Merge Modules*
*because the files under the prompting folder do not populate with the*
*merge module like they do with the full install of Crystal Reports.*
Please help.
Best Regards,
Peter Freeman
Edited by: Vivek Kumar Sharma on May 19, 2009 3:43 PMWe have JDK 1.6 installed. The License Merge Module is not related to
this issue.
The files under \Program Files\Common Files\Business
Objects\3.0\crystalreportviewers11\prompting are not being installed.
If we copy files, into this folder structure the reports work.
One of the Business Object's Merge Modules should install the files
there rather than just an empty folder structure.
I got was able to figure out how to enter a customer support message.
They said that they could not support us because we were not on CRXIR2
(Crystal Reports 11 Release 2).
I found a download for CRXIR2SP4 (same thing service pack 4).
I installed it the Merge Module names changed to include a "_5"
Was:
CrystalReports11_RDC_Reportengine.msm
CrystalReports11_RDC_Runtime.msm
CrystalReports11_HotFix_Merge.msm (This is contrived by us from one of
your hot fixes)
Now:
CrystalReports11_5_RDC_Reportengine.msm
CrystalReports11_5_RDC_Runtime.msm
CrystalReports11_5_RDC_License.msm (should have been included)
*CrystalReports11_HotFix_Merge.msm (not needed anymore)
I will try to put a installer together with these. If this work there
will be some complexity around uninstalling the old one and installing
the new one. -
I can send images from an S110 to my iPad/iPhone using CameraWindow, but they disappear when the S110 disconnects from wi-fi. Is there a way to keep the photos on the iPad and/or iPhone?

I have tried multiple laptops with both units, re-installed Itunes, same error message on one of the units but ok on the other. Thinking I have a defective Ipad 2, any ideas on what to do is greatly appreciated.Tried Google? iPad error 1600

Network-related or Instance-specfic error when attempting remote connection from SSMS
Hello,
I have installed SQL Server express on a Win7 desktop and want to connect to it via SSMS on a laptop. I have set up a SQL login on the desktop so I can login, but when I try to connect to the instance from the laptop via SSMS I get the error 26 with saying
there is a network related or instance specific issue and that there is an error locating the Server/Instance specified.
I am trying to connect to a named instance on the SQL Server on the win desktop. Remote connections are enabled and TCP 1433 and UPD 1434 ports are open in Windows Firewall. Antything else I should watch for?
ThanksHi MrDAndersen,
According to your description, you come across the errors of pre-login handshake and wait operation timing out. Please help to post the full error log for further analysis.
Based on my research, this issue could occur when .NET Framework 4.5 and non-IFS BSP/LSP are installed on the machine, and non-IFS BSP/LSP interferes with the call to Winsock.
To work around the issue, you could use one of the two methods below.
1. Determine whether a non-IFS BSP or LSP is installed. You could use the "netsh WinSock Show Catalog" command and examine every Winsock Catalog Provider Entry item that is returned. If the 0x20000 bit is clear (not set), it is a non-IFS BSP or
LSP and remove the installed non-IFS Winsock LSPs. For more information about the process, please refer to the article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2568167
2. Download and apply .NET Framework 4.5.2:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42643
There are two connect items for your reference.

I can't email a photo directly from iPhoto. First, I only have two "themes" to choose from instead of 8, and when prompted to fill in the "to" and "from", the "from" box has "MobileMe" already in it, and I can't get rid of or change it. I have OSXLion
I understand, as that was the place I would change it before 8.3 but now that option of Mail Days to Sync is not available? Any idea why that would be?

Run time prompts not appearing when launching BR from a right click menu
Hi!
I have a problem when trying to launch a business rule from a right click menu which is assigned to a dataform.
The rule launches but does not show/ask for the run time prompts as it should do. The run-time prompts should not be hidden (I checked also Eas and data form selections).
When using the rule form the Tools-Business Rules menu, the rule works fine. It prompts for the required variables and as they are filled in, the rule does what it is expected to.
Also, when using the same rule attached into a form (and selected "use members on form"&"run on save") the rule works correctly.
We are using version 11.1.2.1.
I already have tried restarting Planning services but without success.
What might cause this?
kind regards,
user637777Hi!
I found out from the Oracle knowledge base:
This issue is caused by unpublished Bug 11064867 - RIGHT CLICK MENUS NOT RENDERING RUN TIME PROMPTS
In version 931 run time prompts worked correctly when launching them from a right click menu, I checked this out.
In our current version I got this working (this is kind of a workaround) by adding a new RTP variable (using the same dimension as the original RTP variable). This way I got the rule to "ask for more information" (like what were you asking for? ) and not running the rule without interruptions. This instruction was given in Oracle support (knowledge base).
kind regards,
