Promt of lost media files for a QT.mov?

In imovie 09 I created a quicktime movie through the share tab and uploaded the QT.mov into a powerpoint presentation (.pptx) I then saved it as a .ppt to be able view it on my 04 powerbook. The presentation opens but can't play the movies.
My powerbook can't find the media files. When exporting a movie project to QT does a media file get stored on the computer  I created the movie on, like it does in final cut pro?
Where do I find the media file.
Thanks

When I select the image in the timeline and select reconnect media, the files are not listed in the resulting dialog box as missing (whether the online or offline buttons at the top of the box are selected). It does not list them as missing, basically.
I tried selecting the files in the browser; the reconnect media dialog box listed the files, I found the directory, and it indicated it knew where they were (moved them to the files located box), but still did not connect. I tried it again in the browser and they were not listed a 2nd time.

  • I need help.  Lost media files.

Ok, here goes. I am an idiot. There, I admit it. Now, onto my problem.
I have a imovie6 project file I wanted to back up to an external hard drive. The problem is that I did not realise it was already formatted FAT32 instead of MAC OS Extended. So, rather than reformat (I still run some of the Evil Empire software) I decided to split the project file with Split Concat 2.5
The problem is, I had no idea what I was doing. Nothing appeared to happen when I split the file even though it said all was completed. I tried to Concat the same file and it could not find the files. The size of the file appears to be similar (huge at 34.66 GB). When I tried to open the file, it could not find any clips.
I admittedly corrupted the thing somehow. I realize that. I opened the contents package of the project file and found the tilde file. After I moved the non-tilde file in the trash, I renamed the tilde file to match the non-tilde project name and had the same results when opening that file, ZERO clips, media etc... available.
Then I opened the media contents imovie folder for the project and see it is empty. I am not sure if this is normal, but the project file still says its a whopping 34.66 gb. Is anyone up to trying to help me with this?
    OK I FORGOT ONE THING:
I made a copy of the DV files BEFORE I STARTED EDITING AND ASSEMBLING THIS THING. The media files are on my external drive. I can place those in the media contents package folder in the editing file, I guess. BUT, why would the editing project still show over 34 GB in size if it is emptied of media? If, as a last resort, I replace the media files with the originals, will my editing still be saved and recorded (titles, songs, narration, etc..) or will it be like starting over? Where is the record of what was edited and titled in an IMOVIE project file?
It's my brother's wedding video. This qualifies as dumbest disaster yet.....
    Thanks for any advice,

Hi lovinmymac - welcome to this forum and the Mac world in general!
Yep, you sure have tinkered with your brother's precious wedding record!!
I have no idea what the 'splitting' of the project file was all about, nor what caused the project to be placed in hidden folders.
From here on it would be pure guess-work and trial and error:
    1. Try playing the Timeline movie - if that plays, it can be imported into a new iMovie project (should all else fail). This will create a large single clip - you will not be able to re-work titles etc but at least it will allow some editing.
    2. You could try dragging the contents of each folder into the Media folder of the original project - but they may have been corrupted by the rather extraordinary process that they have been subjected to (I have no idea for example what .wvf and .snp files are - Windows extensions??). Then open the project and see if anything functions.
    Important:
You must not place imovie projects in a Windows-formatted external drive.
You must not in future tinker with the contents of the iMovie project package, or re-name parts.
Hopefully others will join in to help with suggestions.

If it is protected by Microsoft's DRM, then I'm afraid even a video conversion program won't do you much good.

  • Itunes can longer locate windows media files for songs after the last software update.

If I sync now will it delete those songs it can not find on the ipod ?

thanks. I tried WMA from apple downloads and it seemed to have converted them but when i copied across to itunes and pressed play nothing was happening and i relaised where it says time it shows 0.00, so not sure where I went wrong.
I did look at switch before EasyWMA but that didnt seem to be working either, it created a new file for the songs to go into but no songs appeared in mp3 format after i clicked on convert so I'm not sure where I'm going wrong.

  • Triming DV files for a "clips" movie

I have recently converted 100+ 6 hr VHS tape to 2hr DVD's and now have converted those to DV digital files. I have the converted MP4 files AND the DV files(which are much bigger) I now have about 200, 2 hours DV files. These are all on about 3, 2TB Firewire drives.
My goal is to just take 10-20 sec clips from these DV files and make a Movie of the family over the last 30 years..I'm imaging a 1-2 hr movie.
My question is: I how do I manage file sizes of these clips. How do Import them? DO I trim the clips in the DV file within FCE?
Any suggestion on how to handle the big files would be appreciated. Thanks so much for any advice.

My question is: I how do I manage file sizes of these clips. How do Import them? DO I trim the clips in >the DV file within FCE?
There really is nothing to manage if the DV files are already on your 3 2TB hard drives.
FCE is non-destructive, so all the stuff in the FCE Browser and Timeline are not transferred media files but only file paths (links) to the media already on the 3 2TB drives.
Use the Import Files function to enter the required files to the Browser.
This simply creates a link to the file/s on one of your drives.
Once a file (clip) is in the Browser, move the clip to the Viewer window.
Now is the time to enter in/out points in the Viewer.
When you edit the clip to the Timeline only the selected section between the in/out points will be added. eg. if 10 seconds of a 1 hour clip was selected only the 10 seconds will play in the Timeline.
The Timeline is where the Sequence is built and the Canvas is where you watch it. Canvas and
Timeline are pretty much one and the same.
You can repeat this process on the same clip in as many different places you wish.
When you have grabbed all the bits off that clip in the Viewer move a new clip from the Browser into the Viewer again and edit as above.
I would suggest you make sure the correct Easy Setup in FCE is selected and they match the clips you bring into the FCE Browser as a lot of transcoding seems to have been done. Try a short test FCE Project to make sure all is well before you commit countless hours into your Project.

  • Can I restore lost media files (pictures)?

I have just gone onto the media section on my blackberry curve and for some reason all of the pictures taken before November have just been wiped off. Can anyone tell me the reason for this and if I can get them back, they are really important to me....please help?

So you havent formatted the storage or deleted the files? If you had a mirco sd card you can use a pretty nifty program that will recover lost files.

  • Reorganize/Rearrange old Project/Media files for fresh start: Newbie 101

I’m just getting seriously again into FCP learning curve, know that organization is vital, and have set Settings/Preferences correctly for fresh start. I say “fresh” because awhile back I started but was not properly organized and was then interrupted (HD went belly up) before getting far other than working on a single project. ALL of those various files now sit in a FCP Media folder within another folder (thus at a second level) full of recovered files from the earlier crashed and meanwhile replaced external hard disk. My question is how do I regroup/divide/move this material so that it’s properly awaiting further work from the new FCP Projects folder on my local disk and the new FCP Media folder on one of my my externals. At present, to repeat and perhaps to clarify, EVERYTHING of this old material now sits within the single FCP Media folder on the second level of one of my externals. I could, of course, just trash everything and avoid the present quandary, but I’d rather keep it but place everything properly for the next time around when I can work with it correctly. I imagine some or all of the work done earlier may have been OK, though improperly placed for workflow. Thanks for any guidance. I’m hesitant because I don’t want to make any further mistakes as I learn and start again. I’m sure this is a simple situation for those who know what they’re doing.

Sorry. Of course you're right. Think I should resend, rewrite?
Still need some guidance on this simple problem.

  • Any way to recover a lost media file after a master reset?

we did a master reset a few months ago. i thought i had everything i wanted saved on my sd card. i just realised that i had an 8 hour lecture that i recorded using the stock voice recorder. it defaults to phone memory when recording. i didn't know that. so after the master reset the whole 8 hour lecture is gone. is there any way to restore it?
i keep seeing this backup assistant running every night, but i don't know how to access the backed up files. i don't remember seeing it before the master reset so i seriously doubt it would have backed up that lecture, but i'm hoping there's a small chance.

        Hi tpolley,
I can definitely understand the importance of this lecture you had saved on your phone.  When doing a master reset any info that was not saved to the sd card would be deleted and cannot be restored.  Back Up Assistant is a great tool to use for your contacts and media (such as pictures).  It would not have been able to assist with your other info.  I am sorry for any frustration this may have caused you.  Let us know if you need anything else.

  • What are compatible media files for the Tungsten E2

I have a video clip that I'd like to put on my Tungsten E2.  The current file is saved as a .wmv.  When I attempt to sync using the Palm desktop software's media feature, I get the message that the file format is not compatible.   I can't find any information as to what are compatible file formats.  Any advice for me?

    Avi's and mpg's are pretty safe.  Wmv's and .mov's won't sync.

  • Lost Media Files

Hello, and thanks for any help.
Recently I loaded iPhoto to discover that a good portion of my photos were gone. The albums were still there just no pictures in them. Some of the albums remained with pictures intact though, so it wasn't a complete loss.
Additionally, at the same time I lost all my iTunes playlists... although the song library SEEMS to be intact, although it's possible I lost some songs. It's a big library so hard to know for sure.
The only thing I can think of that might of caused this... I recently was letting the system recover disk space from FileVault use (the prompt that comes up when trying to re-start or shut down) and it was taking forever so I canceled the process half way though. Maybe this caused the problem?
Any advice? And things were going so well with my Mac until this too.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Never interrupt the machine when it's doing something that you don't understand! That's my tip.
    To recover your photos:
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums back.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

I upgraded my home PC to a new motherboard & CPU.  Did NOT have to reinstall Windows Pro 64bit OS...everythign seems to be OK..except Adobe Web Premium?
Two issues:  1) I did NOT deactivated CS4 prior to the MB & CPU upgrade...system did start up and all CS4 programs run OK ?  Did I use up an activation here and how do I tell.....?...and if so can I get it back ?
    2) All my CS4 application help files are gone...I either get a message saying can't find/reinstall CS4...or simply nothing happens at all when I click Help or F1 ?
Any ideas on solving either/both of these issues will be greatly appreciated?
    Thanks...TRinAz

Thanks for the quick reply...I have 1 last  procedure in my upgrade process and that's to clone the original HDD (with CS4 on-board and still the boot drive) to a new Sata3 drive already formated and installed in the box.
Will a clone operation affect the activation issue with CS4...and if so...should I "deactivate" CS4 prior to the cloning operation ? The original C: dive will be wiped and used for backup/storage.
Will I still then have 2 installs on my license...with only the new Sata3 installation to date ?
The only help file in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Help\en_US is the PhotoShop 11 Help which appears to be complete...however I still get the error in the attached help.jpg ?

  • Download/sync photos from phone- lost itunes file for syncing

i can't find the itunes file i used to sync my phone. so when i attempt to sync, it says photos will be replaced etc...
is there another way to get my photos off the phone without losing them?

First, you don't use iTunes to move photos from your phone to the computer. You use iTunes to move photos from the computer to the phone.
When you first plug in the phone to your Mac, you should see iPhoto open up and all the images appear. From there, you can select the images you want to transfer to your Mac.

  • Problem ripping CD's that have "CD Extras" (extra media files, like videos, for

    Can anyone figure this out?
I've been having this very annoying problem while ripping CD's onto my Zen Sleek using the Media Explorer. Occationally, it will rip all but the LAST SONG. The progress bar shows 00% completion, but instead of finishing off by transfering the final song to the player, it goes back to the initial screen (showing all but the last song as ripped; all but the last are in fact ripped and on my player).
It MAY be that these discs have CD extras (i.e. extra media files for your PC). Has anyone been having this or any problems with CDs that that have extras?
I have had this identical problem on two machines, both using XP.
    Please help if you can!

First thing, I would see if WMP can rip a CD in MP3 format.
That would tell us whether it's a general drive problem, or something specific to itunes.

    Hello Mr. Krish,
I believe that this error has been corrected because you had to send the W2 form .
But this issue was caused due to the fact that your file HR_F_W2_TAPE_DEC does not have a header line. The note 1553756 was delivered to correct this dump.
