Proper Runtime Environment for Servlets utilizing SQLJ

I've developed some servlets that utilize SQLJ. They run fine
on the Development system. I want to install the servlets
on another webserver for testing. Is it necessary to install the
entire JDeveloper 2.0 package on the test webserver, just to
provide the proper environment for running the servlets?
I tried to run the servlets on the test webserver by copying
over the java classes found in the JDeveloper 2.0 "jdbc" and
"sqlj" subdirectories to the webserver's "servlet" subdirectory,
and expanding the "zip" files in the "servlet" subdirectory.
I also copied over the contents of JDeveloper's "bin", "java\bin"
and "jdbc\bin" subdirectories, and added the subdirectories
pathnames to the PATH environment variable, but the servlets
still do not run correctly, nor do they raise any java exceptions
before they abnormally terminate. The webserver (Sun's
java webserver) does not, however, "crash" or stop running
when the servlet terminates abnormally.
Again, my question is: does JDeveloper 2.0 have to be installed
in its entirety on a test webserver, just to provide a
proper runtime environment for servlets that utilize SQLJ?
The test webserver is running Windows/NT 4.0 and Sun's
Java Web Server 1.1.3.

Raghu:
Thanks for the info (below). Using the current production copy
of JDeveloper, I've successfully run servlets containing SQLJ.
I am attempting to put together a deployment package for a
database servlet that utilizes SQLJ. When the java webserver
attempts to initialise the servlet and connect to the database,
an exception is thrown.
The SQLJ Statement causing the exception is:
conn = DriverManager.getConnection(connect_string,"its1","its1");
The exception is:
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: make_c_state
at oracle.jdbc.oci7.OCIDBAccess.logon(OCIDBAccess. java:142)
at
oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleConnection.(init)(OracleConnection.java:
93)
at oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver.connect(OracleDriver.java:146)
at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(Compiled Code)
at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:134)
I assume that "make_c_state" is a link to a "dll" package. Could
you (or someone else) tell me what package I need to include in
the distribution in order to satisfy this linkage requirement?
I am attempting to put together a distribution package that
does not require installing the entire JDeveloper 2.0 suite on
the target marchine running the webserver ,which I believe it is
necessary to do when following the instructions for deploying
database servlets via the instructions contained in the
JDeveloper on-line help information.
I have a second, related question. Our facility will be
installing a new "production" webserver that will be running
UNIX, not Windows/NT. Will it be possible to deploy the java
servlets (which utilize SQLJ) on this platform? To my knowledge,
JDeveloper 2.0 is currently available only for the Windows/NT
platform.
Thanks,

  • Java2 runtime environment for Solaris 2.5.1 ?

    Hi,
I need to run Java2 applications on Solaris 2.5.1
    (SunOS 5.5.1)
Can I install Java2 runtime environment on Solaris 2.5.1?
Which version of JRE should I have?
    Any advise will be appreciated.

According to Sun's Download Center, the latest JVM version supported on Solaris 2.5.1 is Java 1.2.2_06. If you use this, you'll need to make sure you have the absolute latest Solaris patches for 2.5.1 applied.

  • Runtime environment for the production apex instance

My first goal is to export a full application from a full development environment to a runtime environment.
The two environments are on dedicated servers.
From Oracle Application Express documentation and Oracle Application Express Forum, I realized that to install an exported application into a runtime installation, you must:
    1) Export the workspace from the Application Express instance where the application was developed. The export file created contains information about the workspace, all the users in the workspace, and any groups in the workspace (if applicable).
    2) Use SQL*Plus to import your workspace in to the runtime environment.
    3) Export and then import your application (with Supporting Objects) using SQLPlus in to the runtime environment. The related files
This means that to be able to import an application via SQL*Plus from a development environment to a runtime environment, the workspace must exist (with the identical workspace ID) in the runtime environment. And the best way to ensure that the workspace IDs are the same is to export the workspace from the development apex instance and import it into the runtime apex instance.
Also, you can't change the application ID through SQL*Plus - so if you're importing the application via SQL*Plus, either a) that application ID can't exist, or b) if it does exist, it will be overwritten by the import (of course, in case b we don't export/import also supporting objects).
I know that there are some tricks, like editing the application export file just to import into a workspace with a different ID in the production runtime environment. But i wuold like to be official supported ;)
So in my case i think i could, for the first export/import:
    1) Convert the production apex instance from runtime environment into a full development environment.
    2) Export the workspace from the development instance using the apex administration services (in a text file).
    3) Import the exported workspace into the production instance using the text file created and SQLPlus connect as APEX_030200.
FOR THE NEXT POINT 4 I ASSUME THAT EXPORTING/IMPORTING A WORKSPACE DOES NOT INCLUDE THE SCHEMAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE WORKSPACE.
    4)
a1) Create a new schema for the supporting objects of applications in the production instance with a DBA tool.
a2) Assign the schema created in the production instance to the workspace imported from the development instance, using the apex administration services.
or, if you want apex creating the schema for the supporting objects of applications:
    4)
b1) Create a new workspace (with a new schema) in the production instance using the apex administration services.
b2) Delete the workspace created in the production instance: the schema will not be removed.
b3) Assign the schema created to the workspace imported from the development instance.
    5) Delete the users and eventually the groups in the imported workspace in the production instance, using the apex administration services.
    6) Change the name of the imported workspace in the production instance, using the apex administration services.
    7) Convert the production apex instance from full development environment to runtime environment.
    8) Export the application (with supporting objects) from development instance, using the export page.
    9) Import the application (with supporting objects) to the production instance using SQLPlus connect as APEX_030200.
    10) Export all associated files (related files) of the application (CSS, Images, Themes, ...) from developmente instance, using the tabs located at the top of the export page.
    11) Import the related files to the production instance using SQLPlus connect as APEX_030200.
So, for next the next releases of the application i can again export the full application:
    1) Export the application (without supporting objects) from development instance, using the export page.
    2) Import the application (without supporting objects) to the production instance using SQLPlus connect as APEX_030200.
    3) Export all updated associated files (related files) of the application (CSS, Images, Themes, ...) from developmente instance, using the tabs located at the top of the export page.
    4) Import the exported related files to the production instance using SQLPlus connect as APEX_030200.
or i can export and import single pages of the application.
Excuse me for the long introduction, but the question is:
what i have written is correct? Please let me know also your advice.
    Thanks a lot.
    Silvio

    HI,
    Thanks for responding.
Should the APEX_ADMIN be available in a runtime environment?
If so, we have missed a step in our installation.

    I may choose

    - sapjvm_7
Which is to be used when Getting Started with SAP HANA Cloud, please?
By the way: there is another Eclipse-Installation with ABAP in Eclipse at the same computer.

You can choose either one. It's even very likely that Workbench default JRE is the same as sapjvm_7. If you click on Installed JREs... next to it, you can see all JREs and which is the default one.

  • What is java runtime environment for?

After I downloaded yosemite it request I need to download Java Runtime Environment.  Why is this necessary?

Google is very much our friend.
Java software allows you to run applications called "applets" that are written in the Java programming language. These applets allow you to have a much richer experience online than simply interacting with static HTML pages.
Java Plug-in technology, included as part of the Java 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (JRE), establishes a connection between popular browsers and the Java platform. Java allows applications to be downloaded over a network and run within a guarded sandbox. Security restrictions are easily imposed on the sandbox.
Many cross platform applications also require Java to operate properly.

  • CAF Java-Based COs with SAP Workflows as Runtime Environment?

    Hi Folks,
we have a big CAF project hitting us at the moment.
Due to the heavy load we expect we do want to have the traditional SAP workflows as the runtime environment for our GPs.
As far as I know we can transfer WFs designed with CAF GP to the R/3 WF system, right?
My question is know: Can we still develop in Java our CAF objects and use them as we would do that in a portal based GP??
If this should be possible - is this creating an overhead killing the benefit we gain by shifting from portal to the ABAP stack?
    Any hint is appreciated!
    helge

    Hi Helge,
Technically, there is no transfer from Guided Procedures to the R/3 Workflow since the process definitions still stay in the GP Design Time. The business logic still takes place on the Java Stack. Only the low-level workflow operations are delegated to the r/3 Workflow.
That's a difficult dilemma that you are facing right now. As far as I know, the configuration to get Guided Procedures running against the Business Workflow (R/3 Workflow) is quite complex and time consuming. Main pain points are callbacks registrations for background steps, user mapping and endpoints configuration. These are the main tasks. But to reach the right configuration, you will have to be tricky and patient.
Furthermore, there will be an overhead due the RFC Roundtrips between the Java Stack and the ABAP Stack.
    Hope this helps you.
    Best regards,
    David

  • HT5247 Where can I download a Java Runtime Environment that actually works on OS 10.6.8?

Last week there was this security alert urging Apple users to get rid of a Java application. Since then I have issues accessing some of my regular websites. I need Java Runtime Environment for it, but cannot find it anywhere on the Internet. Where can I find Java Runtime Environment that actually works on Apple Mac OS 10.6.8?

    Run the installer.
Then you can drag the various versions of Java into whatever order you prefer, or uncheck any you don't want used at all.
As for your JRE question above, the last Apple Java update disables Java Applets and Webstart Applications by default to prevent the Flashback exploit from working.  There should be a checkbox to enable that in the Java Preferences application.  It's under the general tab in 10.7, but I haven't used 10.6 in so long I don't remember if it should be there or somewhere else.  It doesn't seem to be there in your screenshot...
Of course, I'm assuming the "things you could do before" involved Java applets on the internet.  I don't recommend re-enabling this functionality, by the way.  However, it is your risk and your choice.
Java application bundles and anything run from an IDE or the command line should still sork as expected.

    Thanks a lot.
HASPJava.dll is used by verification  License and is invoked less and can't use a lot of native memory.
Our business is communicating between java and COM component. In order to implement it, we used JavaCom to generate java class for COM component.
Memory of COM component is little, but Native Memory is high.
Who used JavaCom and did you meet this problem?
Please give me some suggestions. Thanks a lot.

  • "Error" in ApEx install scripts for runtime environment?

I recently installed a runtime ApEx 3.1 on a 10.2.0.1.0 database. After installing an application which uses the Database Account Credentials method for authentication I was unable to login to the application, getting an ERR-10480 message. After some research on this forum I granted ALTER USER to FLOWS_030100 which resolved the issue. So far so good.
But I was still puzzled as to why the application had worked without problems in a development environment and not in the runtime environment. It took only a few minutes to locate the problem though. In the runtime-install script "apxrtins.sql" there is a call to the "runtime_grant_revoke.sql" script which removes unnecessary DBA system privileges for a runtime environment (which is a good thing IMO). In this script there is also a REVOKE ALTER USER statement, but it seems this one is needed if your application uses the DBACCOUNT authentication method. I didn't find anything on this in the documentation.
Anyone else notice this as well? I would think this is a bug in the install-scripts but perhaps I'm missing something somewhere?

    Tim,
Thanks for reporting this. In database server versions earlier than 10.2.0.3, the alter user privilege is required for the "flows" schema to support the feature you mentioned. We'll try to get this fixed in the next patch release.
    Scott

  • Safari keeps asking for Java 8 runtime environment even after multiple instals

In spite of instaling Java 8 Runtime environment 3 times & restarting safari after verification of Java I keep getting a popup telling me I need the installation to view web content .
I am getting rather bored of it I shall try shutting down the computer to see if this cures the problem.
Has any one else experienced this ?

Most likely, you have either the Facebook video calling plugin or the "NexDef" plugin for watching baseball streams. Both depend on the Java runtime distributed by Apple. If you no longer need the plugin, remove it. Otherwise, install Java.
