Proper showing value of a column type chart in BI 7.0
Hi,
I am in BI 7.0. I created a Web template with column type chart. I want to show the column value only when users move the cursor on top of the column.
The problem is when system showing value also show the category/serious and category description. Is there any way to show value only?
Thanks for your help,
Frank
Hi Wond,
Thanks for your quick response.
Your solution is for BW 3.5 or BI 7.0? I remember with BW 3.5, WAD has chart property and option. But, I dont think BI 7.0 has chart option. I am with BI 7.0. I clicked on property and nothing happens. I dont know is my system setup issue or other. When I modify chart property, I have to use Edit -> Wizard or Refine.
Any other solution?
Regards,
Frank

Show values beside Bar of a chart
Hello world,
within a chart I like to show the values beside/of the bar.
Is this possible? ...and how
Thank you.
Ralf MüllerIn MII 12.0 and prior, the default behavior of the various Bar mode of the iChart is to put the number below the bar.
MII 12.1 introduces the ability to have this number placed inside the bar chart area, like on top of the bar.

HELP: WHERE Clause based on value of the column
I am selecting from a table as follows and want to have a where condition that is dependent of the value of the column, type of the current row.
CREATE TABLE tbl (INT id, VARCHAR type, VARCHAR comment)
I have 3 different values for the type column, EMPLOYEE, CUSTOMER, SUPPLIER. What I want is to have a where clause in my select that is based on the value of type.
I tried the following but was not successful..
SELECT * from tbl
CASE
WHEN type = 'EMPLOYEE' THEN
WHERE comment LIKE '%employee%'
WHEN type = 'CUSTOMER' THEN
WHERE comment LIKE '%customer%'
WHEN type = 'SUPPLIER' THEN
WHERE comment LIKE '%supplier%'
END
I am not proficient with stored procedures so if you could please tell me how to do it with straight query, I would greatly appreciated it..
Thank you,Or maybe this:
SELECT *
FROM tbl
WHERE "COMMENT" LIKE
CASE TYPE
WHEN 'EMPLOYEE'
THEN '%employee%'
WHEN 'CUSTOMER'
THEN '%customer%'
WHEN 'SUPPLIER'
THEN '%supplier%'

2D Column Flash Chart - Series Showing Zero Values in Chart
Hi,
I have created a 2D Column Flash Chart - with 6 series with different coloring of bars..I have obtained the result as I wanted.
Now the problem is the distance between one series to another series is filled up with value 0.
Anybody please help me remove the 0 value in chart which is coming between series.
Thanks
JPHello,
I guess you must have data that reflect the 0 value, no?
In your query can you do WHERE value <> 0, so they don't get taken into account or is it the purpose to keep them in?
Thanks.

Automatic Colour settings problem for WAD Chart Column type
Hi,
In WAD (BI 7.0) Chart Creation i am having issues with colour settings for Chart item Column type with 3D. I have six key fig in query i am trying to show all KF in Chart. But it is showing only one colour for all keyfigs. atlast I have manually assigned different colours for different series, but no use... the issue remains same.. Please help me on this issue
Thanks in Advance
Regards
HarshHi Harsh,
Please try the following options.
1. Try swapping the axes. Certain charts follow the YX convention.
2. Right Click > Edit > Click on 'Refine' > Click on the chart type on the right frame (Bars/Pie etc) > [OK] Vary Category by Color: Enable this checkbox.
3. If you have finished with these settings, you may switch back to Wizard mode to follow up the settings (Step 3 of 6 - Value Properties)
4. Under Categories in Wizard, just make sure you are giving options to suit all the Categories in an uniform fashion. To begin with don't bother to give a fixed Category Count. (As your chart size may increase dynamically based on GRID data)
5. Goto Refine > Click on Global Settings > Choose 'Color Palette' > Tradeshow/Enjoy/StreamLine/Custom : These are the optional themes which may be well adjusted to suit your requirements.

Tabular form condition type value of item / column in expression 1
Hi
Question 1
I was wondering if anyone can help with the necessary syntax so that I can set a Condition Type for a column in a Tabular Form.
What I'm trying to do is show or hide a column based on the contents of another column in the same row for instance show column DETAIL or DETAIL_READ_ONLY if column READ_ONLY is set to 'Y'
Value of item / column in expression 1 = #READ_ONLY# or READ_ONLY (alas neither works)
Expression 2 = Y
I can set all the DETAIL or DETAIL_READ_ONLY columns to either hide or show at the same time by
Value of item / column in expression 1 = P100_READ_ONLY (works well but lacks granularity)
Expression 2 = Y
Question 2
Are Tabular Forms such that all fuctionality has to be global, what effects one column must be the same for all
I know that Oracle prefers that developers don't use tabular forms but they are usefull for data visability when setting up related data in the same table.
e.g. surveys, questionnaires etc apps the web was made for
Thanks
DerekHi Sandro
Thanks for replying
The problem I have is Tabular Forms
Detail Text Detail Read Only Read only
Event 1a Event 1b Y
Event 2a Event 2b N
Event 3a Event 3b Y
What I want it to look like is
Detail Text Detail Read Only Read only
___________Event 1b__________ Y
Event 2a_____________________ N
___________Event 3b__________ Y
This would mean that the Text Field containing Event 2 could be updated but the Display Only fields containing Event 1 and Event 3 cannot be changed.
The trick is to be able to mix and match data types for the same data because Tabular Forms columns don't have a conditional read only choice.
Sorry about the rudimentary diagram, but its the old 80 / 20 rule =>20 percent functional

Flash 2D Bar CHarts suddenly showing Values
Hi,
We have just upgraded to Version 3.1.2 and we have seen a strange change in our Flash Horizontal 2D Column (percent) charts.
The charts used to work fine but now we see Value Text being displayed over the bars. I cannot find anyway of removing these values from display.
We have a Series 1 simple query that counts the number of items where signed_flag = 'Y' and the number of items where signed_flag = 'N'. This therefore shows two stacked bars that total 100%. Everything was fine, but now the charts are showing the text 'Singed Off, 25%' and 'Not Signed Off, 75%' over the bars (and over the labels).
I cannot find a way to hide this text. If I open the Chart Attributes and look at the Display Settings the 'Show Values' check box is empty but grayed out. I cannot change this. I have also tried changing the font settings for every available item and this has no affect either - the text is displayed in the same size/colour etc. whatever I do.
Can anyone help? Is this a 3.1.2 bug or has something changed at macromedia?
All assistance is gratefully received.
MartinHi Martin,
Thanks for posting the metalink number. For others that run into the same issue here's MetaLink's Solution:
1. Download and unzip the 3.1 installation medium:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/download.html
2. Find the /apex31/images/flashchart/Stacked2DColumn.swf file.
3. In the directory where the 3.1.1 images reside, find the /images/flashchart/Stacked2DColumn.swf file.
a. Rename the original file (Stacked2DColumn.swf_orig)
b. Replace the 3.1.1 version of <directory name/images/flashchart/Stacked2DColumn.swf with
the 3.1 version of Stacked2DColumn.swf into this directory.

Extracting unique values from (non-category) columns for chart
Hello:
I've created a worksheet to keep inventory of my Intellivision games. It has the following columns:
Publisher
Class
Network
Title
Quantity
(misc...)
The "Class" represents whether the game is "complete in box" or "loose cartridge." The "Network" represents the general genre or game cateogory. The quantity is how much I have of each.
I have set the first three columns as categories: Publisher, Class, and Network. I also created a bar chart based on the Title and Quantity columns, to show how many I have of each.
The problem I have is that, although it looks real cool and helps me keep the games organized, since a title can appear in more than one "Class" (e.g., I can have one in box, and two loose), the chart includes duplicates, and they are not grouped together.
Is there a way that I can create a graph (or a secondary table) that exctracts only the UNIQUE values from a column that may contain duplicates?
Note that I don't want to put the "Title" column in a category. I want to group by the three major categories and list the games on each.
-dZ.From the Numbers Help Menu, download the Numbers User Guide. Read the first three or four chapters to get a feel for the app. It's well written and won't take long to read that much.
Then use the Table of Contents and the Search tool to get additional specific directions.
First, delete all unneeded Rows and Columns from your data table. If you have patches of data in a larger table, Cut the patches and Paste them to a blank Sheet area to create separate dedicated tables for your various needs. These small special purpose tables are like Named Ranges in Excel. Name them in the Sheets Pane.
This is how Numbers was intended to be used. The User Guide will describe how to reference cells in one table from expressions in another table. If you use the point and click method of creating references from within the equation editor it won't matter a bit that the tables are separate.
Come back here for specific help on anything you are having trouble with.

How to show image in matrix by selecting matrix column type as "it_PICTURE"
Hi All!
Can i show image in matrix, by selecting matrix column type as "it_PICTURE". If yes please write the steps.
Thanks & Regards
SurojitHi
First you have to set the matrix column type as it_PICTURE then bind that column to a userdatasource or dbdatasource. In the following code I am using userdatasource . This code will set the picture to a sepecified columns first row. Please create small image and paste it in your c drive (15X15 size image-- "c:\pic.png")
Dim oColumn As SAPbouiCOM.Column
Dim mtxDisp As SAPbouiCOM.Matrix = form.Items.Item("mtxDisp").Specific
form.DataSources.UserDataSources.Add("udsPic", BoDataType.dt_SHORT_TEXT, 254)
oColumn = mtxDisp.Columns.Item("colPic")
oColumn.DataBind.SetBound(True, "", "udsPic")
mtxDisp.AddRow()
mtxDisp.GetLineData(1) '*Loads UserDataSources from line X*'
mtxDisp.DataSources.UserDataSources("udsPic").ValueEx = "c:\pic.png"
mtxDisp.SetLineData(1) '*Sets Matrix line X based on current UserDataSource values*'
Hope this helps

Show Values option is disabled for Stacked Horizontal 3D Chart
Hi,
I am trying to display some data using Stacked Horizontal 3D chart. However I dont want to show the values on the chart.
Though I could find a "Show Values" checkbox in chart attributes section, this options is always disabled and unchecked. Though its unchecked, the values are always displayed on this chart.
The sample page I am talking about is hosted at http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=26556:2:72035498235854:::::
I don't want to show the text on chart bars.
Can any one help with this?
Thanks & Regards,
HarishHi Harish,
I think that it is ignoring any setting relating to the "Name" properties of a chart bar/column. According to [http://3.anychart.com/products/docs/anychart/index.htm] you should be able to switch these off (set Use Custom XML to Yes to play with these settings). You should also be able to switch off the "Value" property as well, but the only thing that seems to work is to add a prefix/postfix string around it - otherwise, you can not adjust the setting at all :(

2D stacked column does not show values
Hi Friends,
I am new to Apex. I have a 2D column chart with two columns for every data point. The display value check box is checked and I can see the values on the chart. But now when i to make it a stacked 2 D column, the Show Values checkbox field gets disabled and the values does not appear on the stacked 2D column chart. I tried the same with 3S stacked column chart and even there the show values gets disabled.
Is there any way i can display the values on the chart for a stacked column? I can see the values when i hover on it in case of Stacked column chart but I need to display the values on the chart.
Kindly let me know how i can do this in Apex?Hi Pradeep,
In earlier releases of Application Express, the supported version of AnyChart Flash charts did not fully support the display of values for Stacked charts. Therefore, the "Show Values" checkbox would be disabled on the Chart Attributes page. Since our 4.0 release, with the integration of AnyChart 5 charts, the option to display values on stacked charts is exposed via the Chart Attributes page. To take advantage of this option, along with many other charting improvements introduced with our 4.0 release, I would recommend that you upgrade to the latest version of Application Express.
Alternatively, you could switch your existing chart to use custom XML, and change the following line of code in the chart XML from:
<names show="no"/> to <names show="yes"/>For further information on customising your chart XML, please refer to the AnyChart 3 documentation: http://3.anychart.com/products/docs/anychart/index.htm.

View does not show column type
I have two views containing a column, which is defined exactly in the same way. One view shows the column type as VARCHAR2 (200 CHAR) and the other does not show anything as the type.
Here is the screen shot:

First question: why is there a difference?
Second question: why is the type VARCHAR2 although the modeler does not know VARCHAR2 but only VARCHAR as a column type?
Here are the definitions of the views:
This is "user_status":

WHERE ts."until" IS NULL
And this is "work_user_status":

Edited by: 931739 on 09.05.2012 06:37I just found out that the engineered version (10g) is also quite strange:
http://public.ceving.de/2012050900/postaladdress_10g.png
It shows the values in the columns for the types.
This looks very buggy.
Is it not recommended to create views with the data modeler?

How can I show a 0% range in the data value label on a bar chart thanks?
How can I show a 0% range in the data value label on a bar chart thanks?
I'm not sure what the question is.
I know that if you have a bar chart and one of the categories (X-axis) has bar (Y value) equal to 0%, no bar is plotted for that category. Even the addition of a stroke (line) around the bars doesn't make one appear for 0%. The only automatic way I know of to make it look like there is data in that category is to add the value labels to the bars. Inspector/Chart/Series, select one of the bars on the chart, click on "value labels". Another method that is a workaround is to fudge the number a little in your table so that instead of 0% it is a very small %. This will get you a thin line on the chart.
But if your question is about the value labels (the numbers that display on or in the bars) and you are not getting one for a bar that is supposed to be 0%, it probably means your table doesn't actually have a 0% in the corresponding cell. A blank cell in the table will not get a value label. -
Hi All,
I'm still struggling with the same cube and this is my 3rd post and once i fix some thing the other breaks. Please forgive me. When i process my cube i'm getting the error:
Errors in the back-end database access module. OLE DB was unable to convert a value to the data type requested for column 5.
My question is when the error says column 5 (is it the column 5 in the DSV?) or is it the column 5 in the DIMENSION list?
My next question is the DSV Query works perfectly fine , so why this error in cube? This is what i have in the query in DSV.
Please need help. In the below query both the column 5 (ArEASSIGNED TO VENDOR) in the CUBE and underlying table have the same data type and length VARCHAR(4000). Why is the process failing still?

SVI just counted the columns from the top:
1) compliancejoin, 2) mowingsector, 3) caseclosedflag, 4) casehasvendorinfo, 5) mowingstatus, 6) assignedtovendor.
I see now that your subject line talks about column 6, but you say column 5 in body of your original post.
I don't know anything about cubes, but apparently there is some mapping problem when you run it from SSAS. (I assume it is SSAS, a part of the product I'm entirely ignorant of.) I figured that if you had got tripped by the zero-based numbering, you
might be staring on the wrong column.
