Proper Video A/B switch
I am a new convert and I have 2 imacs that are used at my church. I am currently using one for the video feed to our projectors with the mini DVI to VGA cable. I want to be able to use both imacs, but the imacs are having trouble finding a signal through our current A/B switch. We currently use an extron A/B switch which is quite good but the imac will not find it 3/4 of the time.
What A/B switch or how should I properly hook up in order to have the imacs find the signal each time?

It's the correct place; you've just asked a question to which no one yet has a definitive answer (and if you ask any question around a major holiday, you need to be prepared to wait longer than normal for a reply).
I've had best luck with Iogear's KVMs, but I've never tried one with iMacs so I can't say whether or not an Iogear KVM would work better than your

ChelseaWell i know of one free program that i use off the internet called handbrake, its great the only problem with it is that it takes forever like 3 hours but my computer is 4 years old so. another down side is that it puts the movie into a mpeg4 format and from there you have to convert it to setting that work with ipods but hey its free. what i do is rip the dvd when im sleeping. but besides hanbrake there are many programs that are a lot faster you just have to search for them mabey on google.

Since 8th May , after updating the iphone software to 5.1.1 I am not able to synchronize my iPhone with iTunes. Have tried removing previous back up datas , removed all photos and videos on iPhone , switched on and of and reset iPhone a million times , restarted my Mac a thousand times Please Help !!!
I have tried both options .. back up on this computer and also back up on icloud.
The backingup is fine .. there is no problem .. even synchronizing songs , applications , calender , mail accounts is fine .. only the contacs are not synchronizing. The itune goes on and on .. showing synchronizing contacs .. but nothing happens. When i uncheck contacts synchronisation .. everything works fine . I have also reorganized my address book . but it does not help -
Multiple video track preview switching
I am puting together concert footage from 4 different cameras. I have all 4 tracks synced to my main audio. before I start doing my edits I really just want to be able to watch the canvas while switching tracks. this would allow me to put in markers for spefic shots I know I want to cut to on each track. I can find no way to do this. everytime you click anywhere playback stops. Is there anyway to switch tracks during playback or should I boot up my old dell and do this on vegas video?
To create PIPs as VJK suggests you could try the Quarter PIP free filter: apply it to each clip in the 4 tracks and set a proper Position for each so the clips do not overlap (see also the examples in the web page).

[SOLVED]Video device file switches when starting Motion in daemon mode
I am not sure whether this should be here or in Kernel and Hardware.
Motion live stream shows gray frame which says "Unable to open video device" and /var/log/errors.log gives:
Failed to open video device /dev/video0: No such file or directory
Could not fetch initial image from camera
Motion continues using width and height from config file(s)
When I plug my Philips SPC1300NC webcam in it shows up as a recognized usb device, both by lsusb and under /dev. Initially it comes in as /dev/video0, but after running motion the device file is /dev/video1. If I kill motion, the device file still being video 1, and edit the configuration file (/etc/motion/motion.conf) to use /dev/video1 instead of /dev/video0 the device file name changes back when I start motion. It is always opposite of whatever I have in the configuration file.

SOLUTION
I wasn't thinking about the draw for the camera and was trying to just have it powered through the usb on a raspberry pi (need a powered usb hub). I am not sure however why the device file switches when there is not enough power, so if you come across this an know please post a reply.

Hello. I would like to get proper screen captures of Lightroom on Win 7/64, showing all screen elements as you see them. I tried FastStone Capture 8 and SnagIt 11.1, but they have various differing issues. Do you have a good hint?
In my screen capture, i want a mouse-click-sound each and every time the mouse is clicked. This is not "system audio", because the computer doesn't play a sound for every ordinary click. The capture software must add that sound. (I'm aware i can add the sound manually in post production, but want it recorded together with video.)
Experience with Faststone Capture 8's video captures:
I get well usable footage
Does optionally record mouse-click-sound for each click, with adjustable volume
Does not properly record some elements of Photoshop or Lightroom screens:
- cursors sometimes look rough or double-sized
- Lightrooms "TAT (Target Correction Tool)" disappears while being dragged on the image
- the color selector box of Lightroom's Adjustment Brush is not shown, while the cursor working within that color selector box is shown
- Lightroom's three-second-splash-message after Undo etc. is not shown
(All these missing elements do show up in *still* captures with Faststone Capture. They also *do* show up in video captures done with SnagIt.)
Experience with Snagit 11.1's video captures:
Does properly capture all those elements that FastStone does *not* capture (listed above)

Proper Video output signal from FCPX for Color correction
I have bene color grading/correcting on my Macbook Pro, but I recently found out (should have known better) that the colors are not very accurate or even universal so I am really correcting colors in the dark.
I want to get a proper device that I can get a REAL UNIVERSAL VIDEO SIGNAL out form my macbook pro to a monitor. Right now it is a computer signal.
I heard of the Matrox box, but I am not sure how it works.
Really looking for something inexpensive to do some basic correct color grading.
Anyone can help me steer in the right direction?

Proper video card to run a 23" display on a PC
I am trying to set up a HP Media Center PC and G4 Mirror Door on a DVI KVM switch. My goal is to view the desktop of each on my 23" Cinema Display, but in order to do so I need a DVI video card that will push the widescreen format. Any recommendations (preferably nvidia or ATI that I can get at the local big box store)?

Is there a setting to allow the video to automatically switch to the active speaker?
I know that the speakers video box can be highlighted but I would like for it to switch and go full screen on the active speaker.
That function is not a part of Connect. The highlight is the tool that has been implemented to call attention to the speaker.

Alright, lets say I'm watching a video on youtube. If I switch tabs, the video from youtube will appear in my top left screen and won't go away. Or if I go to any other site or program and try to open a file from my computer, the video will pop up in the corner again and I won't be able to see anything I need to. This sounds like a glitch or something. I just need to know how to fix it.

Bandwidth Video Freeze and Switching Subscribers
Hi,
How much upload speed to you need to have to ensure a smooth video playback.
We also have a Multi Subscriber setup. So sometimes we want a user to be in the big cam. But then switc them to one of the samller subscribers (3 subscribers in all) This seems to cause the app to freeze.
Could it be a memory issue because of flushing out the webcam subscribers (setting them to NULL then adding userIDs)
Could it be bandwith?
is switching users between subscribers just a bad idea?

Camera switches to video and cant switch back
help! my ipad 3 has camera and when i go to take a photo the screen just has a button that takes the photo, the word photos below that and the word video below that and then the word square. i accidentally hit the video button and cant get it back to photo no matter how many times i push it. the manual talks about a switch to go from vid to photo and back again but i don't have that so how do i get back to photos???? its driving me nuts cuz i only want to take photos . theres nothing in settings under camera either. please help!!!!

Facetime Video stops when switching to a different space / desktop
Using facetime, if i switch to a different desktop the video pauses. How do I stop that? Strangely, I don't have the option in the dock to "Assign to all desktops" like I do for pretty much every other app. This disappearing seems to have happened in Mountain Lion according to what a friend sees on his machine.
