Properties Bar displays No Selection

In every version of Acrobat Mac from 9.0 to 9.2, I find that the Properties Bar ceases to function after I've used the program for a while.  When that happens, it usually displays No Selection, but sometimes it simply ceases to control the properties of the selected element.  When I have multiple documents open side-by-side, sometimes the Properties Bar in the frontmost window will display No Selection, but the Properties Bar in another document window will display the properties of the selected item in the frontmost window!
I use the Properties Bar mainly to set the parameters of the Text Box, Highlight Text and Rectangle tools or to modify the parameters of previously created text boxes, highlighting or rectangles.
Is there a solution to this bug?

Assumptions for this test:
1. Acrobat has been configured so that the "Text Box Tool" (part of the "Comment & Markup Toolbar") is visible on the toolbar.
(Tools --> Customize Toolbars... may need to be used to se this up)
2. The "Properties Bar" is visible (a Ctrl-E should bring it up if it is not already so)
If you had to make changes to get this configuration set, close all Acrobat windows before proceeding so that the settings will be remembered and used when new windows are open.
******BUG******
Text box TEXT PROPERTIES only accessible in most recent file opened.
Steps to reproduce bug:
1. Open a 1st PDF
2. Open a 2nd different PDF
3. Arrange so both are visible.
4. in the 1st PDF create a text box and notice how the window for the 2nd PDF gets the TEXT BOX PROPERTIES BAR
5. notice how there is no way to change the text box properties in the first window.
Results: Text box properties can only be changed in the most recently opened window.
Expected results: Text box properties should work for all windows!
Note that no properties (color, fill, font, ...) of any object (line, rectangle, callout, ...) can be changed using the Properties Bar if the properties bar is not part of the last window opened.
The only kludgy workaround I've found is that if I need a working properties bar in a particular window I can:
1) save the file to capture any outstanding changes that might not have been captured (this is an optional step)
2) make a throw-away minor change to the file (I usually draw a short line segment)
3) Go to File --> Revert (& Confirm)
The file will close and reopen without the throw-away change and it will now be the last file opened so it will now have a working properties bar.

How to lock the Properties bar to a toolbar or in some other way, make it permanently open?
Or can that checkbox 'keep tool selected' be made a permanent toolbar item?
I use the rubber stamp tool several times on multiple pages in certain pdfs and found that if I open the 'properties bar', I can select 'keep tool selected' and stamp away as much as I like without having to choose the stamp tool dropdown menu and select 'custom' each time I stamp. I appreciate the recent update that added a recently stamped stamps area and not having to click 'proceed' each time.

You can't lock the Properties Bar, but you also don't need to in order to make the Stamp tool remain selected.
Just right-click it in the Comment menu on the right and select "Keep Tool Selected".

  • Properties Bar Partly Missing!

I'm fairly new to Dreamweaver, and just trying to get started.  However, every time I load up DW, the properties bar at the bottom of the screen is incomplete.  By this, I mean the grey box at the bottom of the design window that, when HTML is selected, says Format, Class, Title, ID, Link, Target.  The bottom half of  the ID, Link and Target text boxes are missing, most of Title and Target is missing to the right, only a small portion of each of these is visible.  When CSS is selected, the same thing happens with other text boxes appropriate to that.  It doesn't seem to matter what I do, if I try to make the windows bigger etc.
I'd be very grateful if someone can help, because this is very frustrating.  I wanted to set a target for a page as Main Frame, but I've had no success in doing that.  Thanks very much in advance!

  • To display the selection screen variant name in WAD report output.

    Hello experts,
I have a requirement which is to display the selection screen variant description in the output of the WAD report.
I managed halfway, by using the object "Information field", which displays all the values which are selected by the variant.
Example:I have created a cost center report created using WAD, since I need some graphical displays..
In the selection screen, I have the characteristic "cost center" as input field. I have created a variant " GM - IT" which will include few cost centers managed by GM. In the output, I want the dispaly to be "Cost center - GM IT". Currently it displays "Cost Center - a,b,c,d" as the values a,b,c,d are the values from the variant name "GM-IT"
Please let me know if this required any java script. I am not familiar with java / html codes and any help would be much appreciated (and rewarded)
    Thanks in advance
    KS

    Hi,
    Try this.
If you want to include your variables in your WAD means you have to choose "Force Variable Screen" option to be in enabled condition.
TO enable this,in WAD select your Template(New Template1) click the WEBITEM , it'll shows all generic properties , here you can enable this "Force variable screen"
Save and execute your WAD now you can get your variable screen.
    Thanks,

  • Status Bar displays "Access is denied"

    Hi,
We have EP 7 SP 11 portal where we are displaying Web Dynpro Java Iviews.
Whenever a user logs in into the portal, the status bar displays a message" Access is denied" . Though this does not affect the funcitonality of the system but customers are complaining about the same.
It would be really appreciated if anyone can help us on the following :
    1) What is the reason for this message appearing on the status bar ?
    2) Can this message be completely removed from the status bar ?
    3) If the text can be changed for this message displayed on status bar ?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Bir

Check for the error message appearing in Netweaver Administrator Logs
    http://host:port/NWA
    goto monitoring and selects logs
Check in Default Logs after you encounter error
Definitely the user is missing some permissions . Also check in the ABAp Dumps at ABAP end for missing authorizations on ABAP side.

  • Acrobat 9 Properties bar greyed out for highlighting

I have posted on this issue last year, and also wrote to one of the admins -- all without any solutions, and the problem remains as bad as ever.  I imagine there are a lot of other people running into this.
Acrobat 9 Properties bar greyed out (or disappears entirely) when text selected: it happens to me CONSTANTLY, using both Acrobat 8 Pro & Acrobat 9 Pro, all fully updated.  Tech support is useless and refuses to acknowledge or solve this extremely annoying problem.
I need to highlight text (using different opacities of highlighting) in a variety of PDFs: scanned-ClearScan OCR, ebooks, downloaded journal articles, etc.  None of them are "restricted" in any way for security, commenting, etc.
Within a few minutes of editing, when I go to highlight some text or change opacity, one of two things will happen spontaneously.
    1) Properties bar disappears entirely when text selected (erroneously changes to "No current selection")
    or
    2) Properties bar suddenly greyed out when text selected
It is absolutely inconceivable that Adobe is unaware of this absurd defect -- and is unwilling or unable to fix such a simple functionality so that it works consistently and correctly!
And no, this is not a matter of "turning on/off" the bar using <cntrl-E> -- that's irrelevant to this defect.
And furthermore, commenting text formatting changes are not retained when set as new default (e.g., opacity of highlighting changes randomly from 20% > 60%, etc.)
And I don't want to reset all toolbars, because I have them customized just-so.
Can someone with more expertise PLEASE, PLEASE explain this problem or suggest a fix?
    thank you,
    calguy2010

  • Properties Bar not active on occasion

Occasionally I can open a pdf, either through Adobe or by double clicking the file, and the properties bar will be in active (visible but gray).
When this condition occurs and I attempt to modify a property the program freezes and closes with an error message.
This condition is inconsistent and may or may not occur on the same file.

Then, the problem's in your original account. While logged into the newly created admin account, backup the bad account's folder, delete the bad account, selecting the save data option, recreate the bad account using the same username/password combo, log out and back into the recreated original account. If the problem's solved, open the saved data dmg file in /Users/Deleted Users/, open the /Library/Preferences/ folder from the saved data, open the current /Users/restored account/Library/Preferences/ folder, and slowly copy plist files from the saved data folder to the current one that don't exist in it. Log out and back in to ensure there's no conflict and things still work correctly. Resolving conflicts or identifying corrupt plist files is a laborious process. Good luck.

  • How do I set ScrollRow on a Sheet that is not displayed without selecting/activating it?

Without displaying and selecting a named Sheet, how do I set ScrollRow for a Sheet which is not displayed and, therefor, not in a Window?  Is there some other Property of a Sheet I can use to position a specific cell in the upper-left corner of that
    sheet?
    Thanks for any help.
    Charlie

Thanks Andreas.  Your answer above confirms my fear/conclusion.  Looks like I'll have to change my macro design to handle events.  Probably the right thing to do anyway.
To those above who ask me to clarify, here's my situation: I have one macro workbook open and running a macro which requires many minutes to complete.  That macro operates on multiple sheets within its own workbook.  As part of those operations,
my intent was to pre-position/scroll various sheets to display potentially different data based on the results of ongoing calculations so that, when the sheet is actually selected, the desired data is already positioned for best visibility.  However,
as noted, the macro takes a long time to run.  So I often have multiple workbooks open.  While the macro runs, I minimize the running workbook, and select another workbook that I work in while I wait for the macro to complete.
As a result, the running macro workbook is neither displayed nor is it the ActiveWorkbook.  Thus, I cannot allow the macro code to use Properties such as ActiveWindow, since the ActiveWindow is NOT the window I want to adjust.  Nor do I want to
take focus away from whatever the ActiveWindow is to make my adjustments to the various sheets in question.
As noted above, perhaps I'll need to redesign my workbooks to add event handlers to the various sheets so that my desired adjustments can be made when those sheets are selected, at which point I can be certain that they are the ActiveSheet in the ActiveWindow.
    Thanks all for your help.

  • Link field in Properties bar "sticks"?

I'm using Dreamweaver CS6 on Mac OS X 10.8.2. I've been trying to select some text in Design view that has a link; then copy the text of the link from the Link field in the Properties bar; then select another bit of text and paste the url into the link field. (Thus giving two bits of text the same link.)
However, the contents of the Link box seems to be "Sticking", and not relating to anything that I'm actually clicking on.
Who has gone screwy: me, or DW?
    Thanks

Well even CS6 wil show you the Build number - in the About box - like this:
Anyway, glad your issue got resolved! Please do post back if you have any further questions.

  • Properties Bar won't open in AA9

Again, I'm a new AA9 user, but this is confounding.  When I open a text box and type into it (and either select the text or not), the properties bar which is visible in the toolbars, won't light up so I can select font, size, etc.  Nor will it light up when I select the box.  When I draw a polygon, and select the object, the properties toolbar won't activate so I can edit the lines, color, fill, etc.  I can get a properties box to open by right-clicking the object, but in the case of the text box, it is only the box properties that I can open, not the text properties.  In AA7, the properties toolbar would always light up when I selected an object, or selected text in a text box. (FYI, I'm using Windows 7, 64-bit, Intel Core 2 Duo, T9600, 6GM RAM, Nvidia GeForce GT230M w/ 1GB DDR memory).  My version of AA9 Pro is part of Adobe Creative Suite CS4.

  • MDI Window Scrolls Bars Displayed

    We are having a problem with scroll bars displaying that we don't need or want. This happened when we converted from forms 5.0 to 6i. We have the window scroll bar properties set to "no", when-new-window-activated trigger has: SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY(FORMS_MDI_WINDOW,WINDOW_STATE,MAXIMIZE);
SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY('SITES_REF_WINDOW',WINDOW_STATE,MAXIMIZE);. We've also tried this in the when-new-form-instance - with no luck. We've also played around with canvas and window sizing. How do we get rid of these extra scroll bars??

When I add a component to my design scene, and then select that component and try to view its properties in the Properties window, it displays <No Properties>. • Properties bar font changed itself... How do I fix this?

I'm having trouble with my Dreamweaver. Opened the program a few days ago and the application font at the bottom properties bar is illegible. The font is also displayed like this when I open up page properties. I have tried changing the Font properties in the Preferences pane but that doesn't affect it. • How do you make the title bar display different text than the page title?

I'm looking for a way for the title bar display of my web page to be different than the text in the actual nav bar created by iWeb. For instance, I'd like the nav bar to just say Home for my main page, but in the title bar in the browser say "blah blah blah."
I know there has to be a way to do this. iWeb has actually done it on one page already, but I can't figure out how. I think it picked up the title bar text from the first text box in the page. For instance, the page name in the navigation bar is "blahs for today" but the browser title bar when you open that page says "blah blah," which happens to be the first line of text on the page. The page title in iWeb.app, though, is "blahs for today." But if I look at the source code it lists title as "blah blah."
I'm guessing I might be able to work around by making an invisible text box with the text that I want in the title bar as the very first thing on the page, and hope iWeb makes that the title bar text. I'd rather have a more correct way of doing it.
Is there a way of doing this in the source code without having to change a lot of stuff?
    Thanks for any help.

Richard ~ The key is the default Title box that iWeb creates for every new page — it's that which you need to edit, not another text box you've created. And to make the text in that Title box invisible, see here.
