Hallo,
Can I use the properties files generated by netweaver using I18N tools (wdcontroller.xlf ==> I18N tools ==> create properties files ) for a general use instead of an external manually generated properties file ?

I think you are talking about the internastionaization concept in the webdynpro application, actually the propetieas file will create automatically whne u save your XLF with the changing of the text. but you can create it your self in which way ur telling is correct.

I recently try to alter my encoding settings as follows :
* UTF-8 as workbench default, and for all content types
* one exception : ISO-8859-1 for *.properties files (in order to conform to the specs of this format).
Now this gives me an issue when using the l10n tooling: apparently, all the generated properties files are encoded in UTF-8 (the new workbench default), ignoring the content type specific settings.
The sad result : hieroglyps.
Isn't there any way for me to specify the generated properties files should be encoded in ISO-8859-1... ?

Tool for generating properties files

Hello Experties,
I am wondering is there a tool or program for SAP to get SAP fields screen names from SAP backend for diffrent languages and generat the properties files?
for java uwl or webdynpro they are all the same properties file.

WebDynpro i18n is done by .xlf files. Its an standard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xliff) and there are some OSS editors available, just google xlf editor.Or check this one: http://okapi.opentag.com/applications.html#rainbow
The Idea is, that you give your xlf files to the translator and safe the results with a suffix representing the language (_de.xlf for german).

Error in generating Planning Properties file

All,
We are using Hyperion 9.2.0.3 version. I am trying to create new application through Planning deskto which has been done successful. Now I am trying to create Properties file through configuration utility where i am getting error message.
This is the error message I am getting.
"*Issue to connect to Shared Services. Please start Shared services and then restart configuration tool*"
Do we need to stop the Planning services before running configuartion tool and generate Property file?
My shared services seems to be ok, it is up and running..
anybody encountered this issue?
Any help greatly appreciated!

Display data on ADF table using a VO binded to a message.properties file

Hi,
I want to display data in a JSPX page using ADF table which is based on a ViewObject. The attributes of the ViewObject should get it's value from a abc.properties file(static file).How can i achieve this.

When you create a VO based on static values, all of the records from your VO are generated into the MessageBundel.properties file like this
devguide.entity.ViewObj.SL_0_0=1

devguide.entity.ViewObj.SL_0_2=<val2>
devguide.entity.ViewObj.SL_1_0=2
devguide.entity.ViewObj.SL_1_1=<val1>
devguide.entity.ViewObj.SL_1_2=<val2>
You could add more lines to the properties files maintaining the same pattern. Also noticed that you can read all the values from a CSV file as well.
The last resource is to programmatically read the file and start creating new rows on the VO, which won't use any of the declarative tools for VOs.

In a new Application, the ApplicationResources_en.properties file is not having the constraint messages created

Hi Everyone:
          We are using JDev 11.1.2 and JHeadstart 11.1.2. We have been having a multitude of problems when running applications through the migrator (and we have now been told by an Oracle consultant that the migrator is problematic), so we are trying to re-write things from scratch to bring them over from 11.1.1.4 to 11.1.2.
          I have been working on a simple application from scratch and discovered that the messages for constraints on the entities that I am using are not showing up in the ApplicationResources_en.properties.file. We noticed a similar thing with converting an application using the migrator and that post is found here - java.lang.NullPointerException ADF_FACES-60097 message ***WITH SOLUTION*** -.
          However, I didn't get a single reply to that thread.
          I initially thought it was a migration issue, but this application is from scratch. Whenever I tried to input an invalid value into a page column, the following exception would be received.
"java.lang.NullPointerException ADF_FACES-60097:For more information, please see the server's error log for an entry beginning with: ADF_FACES-60096:Server Exception during PPR, #"
           This Null Pointer turned out to be the missing message from the ApplicationResources_en.properties file. In the new application I just wrote, I had to manually edit to add the following lines to the ApplicationResources_en.properties file and the application no longer gives me the error if I input an invalid value.

Hi Everyone:
           I have done some further testing. We are using a re-usable Business Components .jar file to access our entities. We import the .jar file into the project and create the ViewObjects and ViewLinks from that .jar file.
            It APPEARS that a test case using the HRSchema and using the Entities & Associates generates the constraint error messages, but when I use the .jar file of re-usable business components imported into the project, those constraint error messages are not created in the ApplicationResources_en.properties file. I have created two testcases as well as the re-usable .jar file that I can send to you to show what I mean.
            This behaviour seems to have shown up in 11.1.2 as there was no problem before this.
             Please let me know where you'd like me to upload the testcases.

Robohelp 9 .properties file inserting non-printable characters @ export

I have a mapped help file that I am generating for integration to an online application. When we export the .properties file from the Project Set-up pod, the mapped files appear to be fine, if viewed in Notepad (see below).
However, when this is viewed in a different text editor, you can see that RoboHelp added additional non-printable characters to the .properties file (see below).
We've tried generating this from different computers, exporting it to different locations, retyping the initial entry, and haven't found a solution to this issue.
Does anyone know if there is a fix available? Are we doing something wrong?

Ask your developers if they think these characters could be what are known as BOM (byte order marks).
That is something can be seen in some files using the default encoding. There it can be changed by changing the encoding in the SSL dialog.
Maybe that explains it and if that is the cause, I don't know how you would prevent it here in Rh. I think you will have to live with your own solution.

The build number indicates that you have not upgraded to Service Pack 2 of
version 7.0. I will strongly recommend you to do so. That will shield you
from the issues which were fixed in the 2 service packs.

We shut down the WebLogic Server on Solaris 2.6, log off, log back on,startWebLogic
in production nodebug mode, and re-run jwsCompile on the same source code.The

PLEASE HELP. How do you access properties files in WEB-INF and classes directory

We have a war file that needs to access properties files that are in the WEB-INF directory
of the war file. We also need to load one of the properties files from the classpath.
However, when we deploy the application ( an ear which inlcludes an ejbjar and a
war and the libraries both the ejbjar (with a manifest setting the classpath ) and
war need ) the properties don't get extracted.
In some of our servlets we are trying to access those files with the path "WEB-INF/foo.properties"
and we get a FileNotFoundException. Then we check and see that NO properties files
have been extracted into their appropriate places ( not even those we throw into
the WEB-INF/classes directory ).

The file doesn't have to be extracted from the war. For example, you can place
test.properties into your app WEB-INF and write a simple JSP to see how it
works:

It will return you a zip inputstream if you deployed your application as a .war.

How do I read properties file kept in the source folder in weblogic workshop

I want to have a log.properties file in the folder of the source java code which
is reading this properties file. When I build the code the properties file also
should go with the generated .class files.
I am using class.getResourceAsStream("log.properties")
I tries different ways to make the class to read the file, but it failed to find
the properties file. Is there any way to keep the configuration files in the same
directory of the source java code ? This is the problem of weblogic workshop 8.1.
This thing runs fine in Tomcat.

Did you try and add the path where the .properties file is located in the CLASSPATH?

Properties file not found by classloader when using wlappc ant task

I have encountered a problem with the WebLogic Ant task "wlappc". When this task compiles a webmodule that uses the struts 1.1 framework I get the below error. This struts based web module deploys and runs fine on BEA Weblogic 8.1 SP2 as an exploded EAR structure. But when I attempt to precompile all the J2EE modules the struts web module will not compile with wlappc. The project is strutured correctly in a split directory structure. The problem area seems to be that we are using the struts-el (struts-el.jar) classes which need the properties files located in the struts.jar. The classloader seems to space out when running via the wlappc ant task. I tried adjusting the classpath via the "classpath" wlappc ant task attribute - but no success. Has anyone had this or a similiar problem?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I've looked at the source code ant it is actually using the current thread's classloader.
The fact is that it works fine when deployed to tomcat 4.1.30, but it fails when deploying on our weblogic managed servers.

Convertion of the properties file

Hi,
Does any one knows, how to convert the WLS 5.1 properties file to WLS 6.0 version. i cannot see the convert link on the default console that comes up.

Something to that effect at least. :) Don't have the code in front of me, but figured you would get the idea, as obviously there is more to code, especially if you want to put getting of resource items in a separate class like I did.

}Just took the auto generated class when you externalize strings to .properties file and customized a bit.
This way I can use one call to get any property from any file I have in classpath (e.g. PropertyParser.getString("file1","key") or PropertyParser.getString("file2","key")).

if anyone have download the sapjco connector for linux

i done in in windows ok...

ANT task to process properties-files into static class

Hi,
I think this problem is very interesting. I have a web application that needs various configuration. I'm using a properties file that is loaded into a Properties-class.
The problem arrises when runtime exceptions are thrown (NullPointerException) by using:
String value = props.getProperty("myProp");
(In this case the entry "myProp" is not available.)
The solution would be to process the properties file and put all keys and values into a class with public static attributes:
class Props {
public static String myProp = "123";
This processing should be done with ANT! It shall create a JAVA file before the general compilation task. This would be great and runtime exceptions concerning a lack of propertie-keys are extinguished forever.
Is there any tool for ANT that helps?

Personally, I would not like it - I can't compile even parts of my code without running Ant to build the whole thing? Second, I do not want my build tool to alter or add any source files.
IMO, you should instead simply go and check for null values before using them. I'd regard these NPEs rather as programming flaws - you already pointed out that their value may be null, so not checking is just wrong.
Lastly, maybe you can create a tool yourself - generating a code like this is highly trivial. you only have to keep in mind that development will be a PITA because an IDE with incremental compile will always fail with compilation errors as long as it doesn't create that constants class Ant's supposed to create.
Oh, and why not ask Ant-related questions in an Ant forum?
