Property Inspector Problem.

I am trying to change a button from text to image. I want to view the other buttons in the folder but I can not see the open folder. As you can see in the picture it is cut off and I cannot expand it. Can anyone help me with this?

Christie, this appears to be a screenshot from Adobe Captivate 6.
I looked at my CP 6 and the folder icon does appear as expected. It is the Win 7, 64 bit version. Maybe there is a difference on the Mac version?
I have found sometimes that when screen oddities occur, you can coax panels and menus by double-clicking the title bar to maximize the screen. Or close CP and reopen.

Problem when I click the "browse to file" icon in the property inspector

Please somebody help me. I am having a problem with Dreamweaver. When ever I click on the "browse to file" icon in the property inspector, it opens up a full size window on top of the Dreamweaver screen that can't be resize. This problem just started. Problem with Spry Property Inspector in DW CS5

Hi - I saw a similar post to my issue but with no replies or resolution. This issue just started happening out of the blue. After inserting a spry menu bar into a page, I will click on the blue tab above the menu bar widget to show the property inspector for the menu bar. When the property inspector opens, all of the fields and settings are crammed to the left of the Property Inspector window and it is impossible to make any modifications to the menu bar without going into the code. I hope that someone can provide a solution or suggestion.

Am I over reaching on this?
Transitions are for slideshows. What you're describing sounds more like a Flash site.
Maybe a modal window would work for you.

Property inspector not displaying properties

Trivial problem: DAK why DW8 (8.0.2) Property inspector
sometimes displays just "Div ID, Class and an Edit CSS button" when
within a DIV? When in Code view in a correctly functioning
page, most of the code will have detailed HTML properties displayed
as usual. But in one section - which has multiple nested DIVs with
some other HTML inside, Property inspector displays only the DIV
details instead of the other HTML details - as if it were still
inspecting the DIV tag itself instead of being within the DIV?
The page validates with no errors and the DIVs are closed
with </div> in the right places.

Yes, me too. I can't find an answer to this anywhere.
If I right-click or double-click on an item the property
inspector shows it, but if I single click, nothing happens. It's
bad for productivity.

Property inspector not working in fireworks

Hi folks,
I am using Fireworks CS 5.1 on a MAC Pro. I haven't used Fireworks in ages but I can't for the life of me figure out where the Property Inspector has gone. I'm creating a very simple button. I put a simple line of text on my page, a box and a line. I have selected each one and then clicked the Windows menu and clicked Properties. The Properties box appears but it has nothing in it. Doesn't seem to matter what I click on there are no properties showing up.
Any ideas?

A lot of glitches in Fireworks can be solved by deleting the preferences file. First you will have to make sure your Library folder is viewable and you are accessing the root folder on your hard drive. In recent releases of Mac OS, it is hidden by default.
First, show your Hard Drive by following these directions:
In the Finder, choose Preferences from the Finder menu.
Click the General icon on the toolbar.
Select "Hard disks" in the "Show these items on the desktop:" section.
Close the Finder Preferences window.
Next, you'll have to unhide the library folder by following these instructions:
In the Finder, choose View > Show View Options (or press Command-J).
Near the bottom of the resulting View-Options palette is a setting called Show Library Folder. Enable this option. Your Library folder is immediately visible.
In that folder, find the Preferences folder. Then in the preferences folder, find the file with this name (or similar): "com.adobe.Fireworks.12.0.0.plist" and delete it.
Restart your machine and Fireworks and your problem may be solved.

Output text show Null when access value through property inspector in ADF

we declare two UIComponents one is Deptno which is InputComboBoxListofValues and othre is Dname as output text.
we create ManagedBean called "deptBean"(which is in BackingBeanScope) and create a method inside bean "deptnoChanged".
ValueChangeListener of Deptno pointing to deptnoChanged method of deptBean.
Inside deptBean we declare a variable private String departmentName which are having setter and getters.
we can Initialize departmentName based on valueChangeEvent in bean level
for example:
if (deptno=10)
setdepartmentName("Accounts");
else
setdepartmentName("Sales");
Now we Can Access the Value of departmentName.
The UIComponent(output text field) such as Dname in JSP Page we set value (in property Inspector)

when we execte the JSP Page Dname show Null as output. but output we expect as Accounts or Sales only.
Please help us, how to resolve the problem

If the value Dname is bound to the backing bean then you can view its value in the property inspector using
#{<BeanScope>.<BeanName>.value} or the like

Font change in property inspector

Good day all
I would like to change the font used in Dreamweaver MX's
windows, such as the property inspector. For example when a layout
table is selected the font used in the property inspector to
indicate width, height, cell pad, cell space etc appears pixelated
making it difficult to read, for a beginner like me. I have tried
altering the PC's screen resolution but it makes no difference and
It is only the floating windows, such as the property inspector and
objects window, that the problem shows itself- the rest of the
Dreamweaver window, such as the menus, appear ok.
Does anybody know how to change it???

It depends very much on precisely what you mean in the above.
I will assume
that when you say 'one line' you mean 'one paragraph'. to do
that, you
would create a rule like this -
#content p.special { font-size:16px; }
and then apply the 'special' class to the paragraph in
question by selecting
it with the tag selector, right clicking to get the context
menu, and using
"Set class to -> special".
Or, you could click in the paragraph tag in question and use
the 'Style'
selector on the Property inspector to select "special".
If, instead, you meant one line within a paragraph, then you
would have to
select that text, and surround it with a span tag (using
Ctrl-t). Apply the
'special' class to the span tag, and adjust your rule like
this -
#content span.special { font-size:16px; }

Align list arrow in the Property inspector

Hello, everyone. I am taking a WEB Design class online, and have a problem figuring out something in Dreamweaver. I need to align an image, but I can't get access to the Align list arrow in the Property inspector. I clicked on the image, but for some reason the Align list arrow still doesn't appear. I even made sure to click the expander arrow in the lower right corner of the Property inspector.
Does anyone know why the Align list arrow isn't appearing for me, and does anyone know how I can get it to appear? I would really appreciate some help, because this assignment is due in a couple of days. Thanks in advance!

Which properties panel are you working with -- HTML, CSS?
What exactly are you trying to do?
Which elements are you working with -- i.e. paragraphs, unordered lists, ordered lists, etc...?

Property inspector frozen

I'm trying out CS4 on Windows Vista and using the tutorials. I get stuck with the property inspector. It is faded out and won't allow me to do anything! There must be something that can be tweaked! What is it?

Solved the problem. Highlighting elements on the design page does not present the property inspector. Highlighting elements on the code page does.

Property inspector grayed out

I am using Dreamweaver 5.5 and i have a editable region in a template that is a php page, and for some reason my property inspector is grayed out when in code or design for anything that’s inside the editable region; links text anything.
I am not in live view or live code
And anything that is grayed out because it is part of the template and can’t be change, the property inspector works for them.

Your Template has several major problems, starting with your code errors.

To modify the <body class> in child pages, you must define an Editable Tag Attribute for the body in your Template. The code should look something like this:
<body class="@@(_document['class'])@@">
Further down the page, it looks to me like you have editable regions inside editable regions and some of them are not closed.
Check your code. Post back if you run into more problems.

Property Inspector bug?

There is a problem when property inspector is in bottom panel container of JDev.
It doesn't show properties of some components.
For example when I work with af:outputText on jspx page or invokeAction in pageDefinition file...

yes I have the same "error" (Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.1.0, Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.1.0_GENERIC_090615.0017.5407).
In some situations the property-inspector is empty and show only the background-color.
I did not have the mistake in older releases.
My Workaround: I add the property-inspector in the right-panel near the default component-palette.

Property Inspector and Image Maps

I'm using Dreamweaver CS3 on an Intel Mac Quad Core. On some
occasions, the legend information (i.e. Link, Target, and alt) next
to the text fields for the image map area does not display in the
property inspector. I am still able to enter text in the fields.
After clicking on another part of the document and then clicking
back on the image map the problem appears to correct itself.

So I tried to recover it from other backup projects (different project names but use the same Topic), but they are all also suddenly has changed to "Remote URLs". When I checked/opened the HTM file associated with the Topic in my local directory, it is correctly pointing to the correct popup file, "absence.htm". So the popup file has been detached from the link/broken link.
So the file is still there but Rh is not seeing it. Have you tried deleting the CPD file and reopening the project?
I did not know how this happened because the backup projects that I tried to use is completely located somewhere else and I just copied it onto my local drive. Is this the Robohelp that is installed on my local PC or something else happened? I hope you can tell me how I can avoid from happening again, please, and how I can change it back to how it was originally set up before that will be a big help. How do I change it back to recover the backup project as well? Do I need to reinstall RH? I have no clue how this happened.
How are you copying to the backup location? Windows Copy, Zip file etc?
Is there any source control at play here?

The Property Inspector is missing the V Space and H Space fields in DW6 - where did they go?

I just downloaded DW6. The Property Inspector is missing the V Space and H Space fields, therefore I am unable to add space around my images. Suggestions?

It is no longer available because the problem with that was that it applied spaces around the image rather than where the user actually wanted them. You now need to use CSS and apply margins and paddings and target exactly where you want them by using something like this:
img {
    margin-bottom: 0;
    margin-right: 0;
    margin-left: 0;
    margin-top: 0;
    padding-top: 0;
    padding-right: 0;
    padding-bottom: 0;
    padding-left: 0;
img {
     border: 0;
     padding: 0;
The second style is generic to set margin and padding for all four sides.

Hspace gone from Property Inspector

DW is pretty new for me; I've probably done this to myself somehow.
I'm following a lesson in a book and it shows an image selected and asks me to click in the Hspace box in Property Inspector and add 40 px. This makes perfect sense to me. I did exactly this a few weeks ago when we were learning how to insert images. Today Property Inspector doesn't seem to have an Hspace box. Or a Vspace box. Property Inspector seems to as well be missing a Border box, maybe an Align box under it (picture in book is very small), and some buttons to the right of Border (crop, brightness & contrast, sharpen) seem to have moved to the upper half of Property Inspector. Other parts of Property Inspector seem to be there. Map, Target, and Original show. I understand how to close the bottom half of Property Inspector, and I'm sure I have both halves open, because I can see (e.g.) both Src and Original at the same time. I also am sure I have an image selected (because I can see the name of the jpg file in the Src box).
I've been working around this by setting Hspace and Vspace directly in the code, which is okay, but it bothers me that a piece of the program just wandered off sometime when I wasn't looking.
I'm using DW CS6, version 12.0, build 5808, but I was seeing this exact same problem in CS5 (not sure of the exact version number; I was running it--badly--through Citrix).
Any help is greatly appreciated.

HSpace and VSpace were deprecated with the CS6 release. They were in DW up to CS5.5.

When ever I use the "point to file" feature in the property
inspector to create a link in either the Source box or the Link
box, DW(MX2004) automatically places a "/" - forward slash- in
front of the link, forcing me to manually remove it to unblock the
link. Is this a setting hidden somewhere that I have not looked?

The next time you want to create a link, don't use the point
to file.
Browse to it. When you find the target file, in the browse
panel you will
see a field called "Relative To:" - set that to "Document".
When you make
the link, that setting will stick. Now point to file will
work the way you
want.
