Propery Value Propogation in KM Folders

Hello,
I've got following questions on Km Properties.
1. I've created a new property called 'Custom Lifetime' and updated folder validity as /** (to all the folders), added this in property group group_all, and I could see this property in the documents. During property creation time I've also set the default value of the property. But it doesn't seem to display the default value in the documents and folders. Am I missing any steps here.
2. I also need to set 'owner name' value for each of the folder and the value should get propagated to all the subfolders and documents under the selected folder. But I could not see this propagation of property values under the folder. For this am I missing any configuration steps.
I'm using NW04S SP07.
I appreciate and early response, and resolution response would definitely granted points.

Of course you can develop such a solution by your own - but that would mean reinventing the wheel. So my advise definitely would be to upgrade - to get rid of many bugs as well as to get some new and needed features - sometimes life can be easy...

Propogation of properties

Hi All,
As all of you know, we have report at Content Management->Classification->Reports-
>Mass Opertions, namely "Propagation of Properties".
This report helps to apply properties to bunch of files & folders by using template file for which proprties have been preset.
We are facing following problems:
1) Let us say, there are 4 properties a,b,c &d. When we set value to a,b & c and execute report to apply these propeties to target folder all properties values get propogated properly.
But when we change value of property d, all other properties a,b & care reset or lost.
2) Properties for which values are of type boolean and multi valued: propogation if properties not working.
Please let me know how to fix these issues or any work arounds.

I had this problem last year and had to install a new OS for it to go away.

Error in Golive CS2 that will not go away- even trashing all GL prefs and reinstalling program. Box shows up repeatedly with any mouse action to the GL screen. Mac G5 Dual 2.7 OS 10.5.7 (but also did this a year ago with 10.5.2) Have no idea what I can do aside from a new system install.
Occurs on sites I've opened lately (about 5).
Any thoughts?

Please click the font pop-up in the PopChar window (with the question mark in front of the font name) and turn the "As in Document" option off. Let me know if this helps. I'm pretty sure it will.

What exactly was triggering the problem in GoLive?
This is hard to tell without knowing what is going on inside GoLive. When "As in Document" is active, PopChar uses a standard technique of Mac OS X to scan the menus of GoLive in order to find a checked font menu item. These techniques are part of the "accessibility" functionality of Mac OS X. Normally, this should work without any extra action of the front application, but when an application implements custom menus that are not built on top of the Mac OS X foundation, the application needs to implement additional functions to support accessibility with the custom menus. I suspect that an error in the handling of menus makes GoLive believe that it should open the "Highlight Propery Value" window when PopChar scans the menus.

Exchange 2010 Public Folders Cannot Change Permissions Errors from Management Console and Powershell

This problem does not affect new public folders, only old ones that have probably been on Exchange 2000/2003 servers in the past. Migrations I believe did go smoothly but now have errors.

From ExFolders we get error "Exception: Object Reference not set to an instance of an object"
Any thought on how to fix permissions, people who already had permission in the past can see and access them OK and all objects, but we cannot change/update or remove permissons

to the clipboard and then click cancel.
15.Navigate
to the Storage group that contains the Public
Folder Store for this server and get properties of the server.
16.Locate the msExchOwningPFTree attribute and paste in the value that was copied
from the Public folders Distinguish name attribute.
17.Restart the Information Store Service.
18.Mounted and dismount the PF store.
19.Open Outlook with administrator,give full permission to default owner.

Powershell to create pop box which then creates a folder (with entered value) and sub folder with specific security

Complete novice to powershell would love some help to assist a new windows storage workflow I am implementing.
I have a windows server 2012 file server (\\FS01) and projects share \\fs01\projects.
We use job numbers to create a project and name the folders with the job num (eg Job Num XX12345 , \\fs01\projects\XX12345)
Then after each project folder is created we will create 4 subfolders underneath and specify the following rights to the following AD groups.
Folder Name - AD Group- Permission
Scoping - Project_Management -RW
Delivery - Project_Management -R
Finance - Finance- RW
Assets - Creative - R
I would like to create a script that lives in the route of \\FS01\Projects and when clicked a pop up box appears, the end users enters the job code and then the script sets up the folder with the entered value and creates sub folders with the referenced
AD groups and security.

Advanced:   How to traverse a tree representation in PL/SQL (procedure)?

I am looking to write a method that will create a collection of records, each of which represents a node in a tree.

so first need help in figuring out what the cursor 'get_all_folders' would look like
I have a folder structure represented in a database that is used basically to show visually
(with a front end app) a folder structure (much like a folder structure in a file system).
So each row has an entry in the 'folders' table like do:

I am attempting to create a query that will add to a collection folder records in the
order above (1..10)
In other words traverse the tree depth first going from:
          folder1 -> folder1a -> folder1aa -> folder1ab ->(back out to next level) folder1b -> folder1ba -> folder1bb -> folder1c
          then add folder2 (and traverse down that hiearch if needed)
          and then add folder3 to the colleciton and traverse down that hiearchy if there is one
          and continue adn so on.
          The requirement is to have them added to the collection in that order and when I iterate through the collection,
          they would of course need to be pulled out in that order (so use vararray with a counter to iterate through
          after the collection has been created.
After the collection has been created, I have to iterate in that specific order to create records in another table where there is a column that requires an integer value that is the 1... order they come out of the collection
and then have to iterate again and do something else in that order (and then other things - all the while needing in that order).

After running a disk checker, I have 30 gigs showing as used but unaccounted for anywhere, all the files I moved to an external hdd are still taking up space

I recently purchased a mac book air with the 128g SDD. After setting it up with all my desired applications I started to download some large media files. Knowing that I'm working with limited HDD space I hooked up a portable 1TB Drive, formatted it for MAC OS Extended (journaled) and moved all of my large files onto the back up drive. After moving all the files in my downloads folder to the trash, and then emptying the trash the space on the SDD "Macintosh HD" did not change. Currently reading at used 91g, available 29g (as seen in the disk utility program with the Macintosh HD highlighted). To find the 'mystery used space' I ran a program called 'DIsk Inventory X' on their opening screen the program shows a smaller capacity with 84g used and 27g free, running the program adds up the value of all the folders and applications on the HD only to discover their is only 54g's accounted for (this is realistic for the files and applications I currently have installed and intend to carry with me on a daily basis)
So my question is why is my SDD only filing up and not clearing the space I move to trash and empty, at this rate I won't have any space left.

sounds like the drive may be defective. remember that hardrives can crash at any time even if new and the drives in the air books are just really big flash drives. sound like you have an appointment for the genius bar to get it replaced.
i have one more possible fix but requires you download a free app called "OnyX". if you are not famliar with the power of this app, be carefull about what you have it do. hit me back up if you choose to go this route. other wise to the apple store you go my friend

PDF indexing of Word.doc Keywords: kind of disappointing

If we could embed document properties like Keywords in Word, and then convert Word.docs to PDFs , and then index the PDFs using Acrobat Pro, theoretically it would allow for lightning-fast keyword search and review, through a zillion PDFs.
Except, there are unexpected glitches that are either undocumented... or, if the documentation exists, it's either hard to find or too scantily worded.
Here's a few things I've observed, using Windows XP, Office 2007 and Acrobat 8 Pro:
1. Word document properties only transfer over to PDF if you use the Acrobat tab in Word's ribbon to generate the PDF via PDFMaker, which apparently invokes some 'more robust' implementation of Distiller, than occurs if you simply use the print dialog to print to PDF. THIS IS PROBABLY A BIG SOURCE OF USER CONFUSION THAT DISCOURAGES MANY USERS FROM GOING ANY FURTHER WITH EXPERIMENTING WITH PDF INDEXING OF WORD DOCUMENT PROPERTIES. IT CAN LEAD YOU TO CONCLUDE THAT NONE OF THE WORD DOCUMENT PROPERTIES EXCEPT FOR TITLE, CAN SURVIVE A PDF CONVERSION.
2. When you invoke PDFMaker, when the "Save Adobe PDF File As" dialog appears, you must click on the button at the bottom that is labeled "Adobe PDF conversion Options' and verify that the "Convert document information" check box is checked. (This may be able to be set as a permanent user preference somewhere, but I'm not quite sure where.)
3. The Properties fields in Word that will come over, include Title, Author, Subject, and Keywords. (The Comments field is ignored, as far as I can tell.)
4. You can now index the PDFs, and these Properties fields will also be indexed.....well, Sort Of.
5. "Sort Of", because if you then search for any of the text in your Properties fields, (like for example you search for a word or phrase that you've embedded in their Keywords fields), the advanced search result won't be displayed quite the way 'found hits' normally display in a PDF index search results screen. You may expect to see the contents of those Keywords fields, show up in the search results in a long list of 'found' file icons with ALL (or a generous selection) of their surrounding Keywords also displayed, and with the specified found keyword highlighted in BOLD.
But, that's not what happens. What you really get is an icon showing the contents of the Title field (which you didn't search for.) It basically means that Acrobat has found a document with something you searched for, in it....but Acrobat is not going to show it to you as easily as you are accustomed to seeing it. You only have two choices: (1) either hover your mouse over each found file's Title icon, one by one, until its screentip-type popup window appears, showing you all the contents of all four of that document's Properties fields; or (2) click on the icon, display the PDF, go to File Properties, and observe that file's properties dialog box.
This is disappointing: the fast, easy, contextual lookup advantages you've enjoyed with regular PDF index searches appear to be unavailable when it comes to viewing search results on indexed document properties. I can understand the logic; (why show other keywords surrounding the searched-for keyword? If they're not in a sentence, there's really no contextual relationship, and therefore no reason to show them.)
However, what if users wanted to store logically related keywords in a deliberate organized pattern..ie,
Texas, Car, 1999, Ford, Mustang, Green
Texas, Car, 2000, Ford, Mustang, White
Texas, Car, 2000, Ford, Mustang, Yellow
Texas, Car, 2000, Chevrolet, Corvette, Blue
Ohio, Car, 2006, Honda, Civic, Silver
...etc.
In this context, all keywords are logically related; it could be a big advantage to be able to use PDF Index search to instantly find and view a list of all 5,328 White 2000 Ford Mustangs located in Texas....then pop up their insurance.doc PDFs for further details.
Allowing the user to set a preference to 'show all stored propery values in the search results' instead of an arbitrary length string of surrounding values, could also be very helpful, so that the full information depicted in the above example could actually be fully displayed, not arbitrarily truncated.
I guess the only workaround is to forget Word's Document Properties, and just embed keywords within the document itself, such as maybe at the end of the document, maybe colored white (so they can't be easily seen). Formatting them as hidden text doesn't work; Acrobat ignores hidden text when you convert from Word to PDF.

I seem to get hard returns in all cases. That is why I had the short answer. I do not remember if saving as a DOC got rid of the hard returns. Of course the simplest way to find out is to try it. I went to another machine and the Save As to a DOC file did not put in the hard returns (cut and paste did). I should note that the PDF was produced from a totally different word processor and was not a WORD native document. That would suggest it is not dependent on the tags that can be included by WORD and PDF Maker.

Cannot find BI master system

Hi everyone,
we are developing bex queries in our BI (NW2004s) system. However, when we create an iview in our Enterprise portal containing such queries we always get the following error when trying to run them.
"The initial exception that caused the request to fail, was:
Cannot find BI master system"
We have our BW system configured into EP under System Administration section.
Every connection test is successfull.
On the other hand, if we run the queries from BW ABAP system using the Java Preview they run ok.
So there seems to be something missing in our EP system...
Has anyone faced this before ?
any help would be appreciated.

System Administration -> System Configuration ->
here you browse to find your BW system , double click it and there you'll be able to change the propery value at the right hand side of the screen.. (7th item)

Search Text Include Folder Names

It appears that when I create a filter searching specific text, the text values of the underlying folders that the images are in are not being considered. For instance if my folder structure was YYYY\Event\Eventsub1\Eventsub2 and I wanted to search for all images that involved Eventsub1 or Event over multiple years, it doesn't seem to consider the folder name as searchable for the filter function.
Because I had a prior structure before moving over to LR (starting with beta) I have been reluctant to eliminate the structure altogether and rely solely on keywords as it is also easy to find images when outside of LR in this familiar structure. This has led to including a "theme" keyword with each image that pretty much is the Eventsub2 subfolder, then create a keyword structure equal to Event\Eventsub1 and drag the new keyword under that structure for organization. This seems to be duplicative, and error prone.
So ... my question, is anyone else able to search for images in folders with names that include text "xxxxxx"?

It seems to have worked for me. I went to All Photographs and entered the name of a folder. For me it's kind of difficult because I often have other tags the same as the folder names, but I think my test was correct.
You might want to consider using other metadata fields besides just keywords. I use the field Job Identifier to identify pictures taken on trips or other identifiable groups of pictures (an example might be France 2009). It is usually the same as my folder structure (or a superset thereof, actually, because I usually have subdirectories by date) but I thought this gives me two ways to find things and if pictures get out of their file structure they still have that identifying information in the metadata. More commonly used tags are title and caption. Different people use one or the other for their primary "caption", depending probably on the other tools they use and their flexibility, or lack thereof, but that leaves the second one for something else. Also, there are a set of location fields which I usually fill in. City, State, Country are obvious, but the other one, called simply Location, can be more general. I let the GPS program fill it in but I often change it to something else. For example, Somethingorother State Park.

Folder Problem

I have created a form in Screen Painter with four folders. But when I try to access the folder item through code it says "Invalid Item". Here's a sample of the code.

The item and the form both exists. I can come up with a logical explanation for this.

The error message you are having is because in the FORM_LOAD event of a user form the items are not yet loaded (in the b1 forms it is different).
If you want to do an action in the FORM_LOAD event you can try the following workaround.
What you can do is to capture the et_FORM_LOAD event and set a flag in your development as your form has just been open. Then in the et_FORM_ACTIVATE event (fired every time a form get the focus) if your flag FORM_LOAD has been set you can consider a new opening form and you do your action, otherwise you don't do anything...
For the Folder.
When you create a folder you must follow different steps:
1. Set different ValOn values for the different folders
folder.ValOn = 1
folder2.ValOn = 2
2. Group the folders together
folder2.GroupWith("Folder1_UID")
3. Bind all folders to the same UserDataSource
folder.DataBind.SetBound(True, "", "FolderDS")
folder2.DataBind.SetBound(True, "", "FolderDS")
4. On the click event you only have to change the PaneLevel of the form.

ADFv: Unsupported operation exception.

Hi ,
I am using for development my newly application as JDeveloper11gR2/ADF11g
Currently I am getting Error When I doing Multiple row selection(select all row) by pressing Ctrl+A then a error shows as "ADFv: Unsupported operation exception." . But it works selected all row after prompting that error! :)
I have search over google but did not find any solution .
Did any one faced such problem? Please let me know with your solution .

Based on the following note in JDeveloper 11g User Guide, i have removed the property settings for selectionListener and selectedRowKeys propery value in the table where multiple selection is enabled. These proper settings are set by default as the signle row selection is table's default behaviour. Removing these property values are fixed the error.
Note: You should not select the Row Selection checkbox, because
when you do, JDeveloper automatically binds the
selectionListener attribute to the makeCurrent method on the
CollectionModel class and the selectedRowKeys attribute to the
selectedRow property on that class. Both are designed to work only
for single selection tables. Make sure that for any table for which you
need multiple selection, that neither of these attributes are populated.

Export of KD folder taxonomy

Hi All,
Anyone know if it is possible to export the folder structure of the portal's KD? For example, into an XML file or a flat file such as an Excel file.
We want to be able to list all the folders and their hierarchy.
I found a Knowledge Base article about exporting the KD from one portal to another. This is not what we are looking for. We want to export the KD so that we can see all the folders that currently exist.

Since the redirection path is not a user property but rather a GPO
setting, and since multiple GPOs can contain multiple paths and only one
of them will win: No, unfortunately not. At least not centrally...
Two things are possible:
a) Search for redirection paths in all GPOs (difficult, but not
impossible) and evaluate the applying path for each user (more
difficult, but not impossible, too)
b) run a logon script that grabs the values of user shell folders and
writes them to a central location.

Cant Attach Images in report

Reports run successful however the bmp (logo) file is not found due to which the job fails. All rep_<reportserver>.conf file and env files have the locations entered.
what can be the issue?
Following is the log error:

The bmp file exists on the location with permissions 777. We are using AIX environment.

Well it exists there. As per our requirements we need to setup multiple propery values of source directories so different applications can share the application server.
