ProRes project - Convert to Proxy mid project.??????

Im working on a pop video...shot on a Canon 550d.
Ive imported the footage using the CANON conversion... I choose Pro Res .....(Not Proxy)
50fps  1280 x720...
Started editing and realized that I cant run Multicam on my set up.....grinds to a halt ( 6 angles)....
How can I convert to Pro Rez Proxy mid project and carry on working , then go back to the full Pro res for master.
Ive messed around with Media manager.... but not quite sure as the right wrokflow...?
Ideally I would like to edit in DV PAL ( like I used to on my old FZ1)..... BUT the system media manager wouldnt allow me to work in DV 25fps....
As the orginal foootage is all 50fps....
BUT PROXY may be the way to go....
Also I converted about 10 clips using Cinema Tools to 25fps for slow motion, this has given me exactly the same file names for the slow mo clips as the master clips...
Thus creating confustion when trying to re connect to higher rez formats.
ALL HELP greatly welcome....... ..   Im sure im making it more difficult than it needs be...
THANKS
ROB

This should help in your decision

  • Converting audio to midi

I want to convert audio to midi.
I know the Melodyne plugin does this...but is there any other way? Can it be done in Logic 9?
Thanks in advance from a potential L9 buyer.

Thought I'd show what you can do with Melodyne cre8.

Single note bass lines work great, but once you have the midi file in Logic, you can create chords or anything else you need in your bass midi track.

  • Can I convert a proxy for a class that does not has any interfaces?

Can I convert a proxy for a class that does not has any interfaces?

    Hi.
I can hardly understand your question: what do you want your proxy (what kind of proxy?) to be converted into?
All I can tell you is the following: Proxies created using java.lang.reflect.Proxy can only be created using an interface. This interface has to be implemented by the proxied object. So: no interface, no java.lang.reflect.Proxy.

  • Does Anyone Or Does Everyone Except Me Know How To Convert Audio To MIDI?

Hello. I'm your new neighbor... I'll be good in the hood... I've been using Logic for 3 years. I have been mixing 14 Tracks of Audio ever since... Never again. No, never, ever, ever, ever again! Ever!
Two questions: Can Logic Pro 7 "Convert" Audio into MIDI? If not will you kindly impart knowledge to Grasshopper which "Software" is widely accepted as the best?
I'll check with Sound On Sound if no one has info here... Thanks.

Does it usually take a long time for Replys? I once asked a simple question in a Recording Studio Forum and waited 20 minutes and said: "This *****, I'm outta here" I returned a year later and found 50 messages saying how impatient I was and even a few kicks in my iAss.
I was a real newbie. More dollars than sense... Avalon, SPL, T.C. Elec... blah-blah. "I'll 'Master my own stuff!" So, I wanted to use the Hardware to "soften". Not a peep! Hello-o-o-o-o-o! All I had was pretty lights glowing.
When I learned the following day, it was only a 'Click' or two away. Usually is with Mac. I love my G5 for Music Production. I've tried 2 PowerBooks an 864(?) and a 1 GHz 17", neither could handle the load of 60 Tracks of Audio. G5, I have increased the Tracks to 78. We're talkin' smokin' trackin' Tracks.
I'll see if I have an answer to:
Does Anyone Or Does Everyone Except Me Know How To Convert Audio To MIDI?
If not I'll slip away quietly and wonder... Does anyone know? I'll return with how to or what to use tomorrow. Then we'll all know!

  • 4 hour ProRes Project to go to SD

We have a rather large project.  I've taken the footage AVCHD and converted to ProRes for the edit in FCP.  The project is now done and looking for the best route from here.  I usually export the project as a self contained Quicktime and put it into compressor from there.
The self contained QT eneded up being over 350gb... I didn't actually run that file through compressor since my helper didn't add Chapter markers.  I added the chapter markers and put it directly into compressor from FCP and got a very poor result.
Wondering how you guys would tackel this, and how I can expect to get the best result possible?
It needs to be printed as an SD project.
    Thanks for your time.

EIther multiple disks or dual layer. The limiting factor will be its length, not size of the original file.
For 120 minutes of video, you'll neeed to reduce the bit rate to somewhere around 3.5 Mbs. Take a small representative section of your movie and test it at that compression to see whether it meets your quality requirements.
    Good luck.

  • Will Compressor 4 give me ProRes 422 LT,HQ,Proxy even if i'm still on FCP 6?

I have fcp6 which means that the only prores option i have for converting dslr footage is prores 422. I know that the other pro res options (IE: HQ,LT,proxy,444) came with fcp7, so im wondering if by downloading compressor 4 only i'll be able to get these options.
    Thanks
    Ryan

Oops cancel that, Compressor 4 doesn't have a preset for Pro Res LT (in the Pro Res Settings Folder) but it does seem that you can make new setting for Pro Res (LT) using "Adding a new Video Codec" (from Compressor 4 Help) - I haven't tested this.  Sorry to have jumped in a bit early on that one.

  • Will Logic Pro X allow me to whistle a melody, convert that into MIDI information, and turn those notes into chords?

I'd love to be able to whistle or hum a melody, convert that recording into MIDI data, and then have those notes play back as guitar chords. Is this possible "out of the box"?
How much would be automated, and how much work would need to be done by hand?
    How about with Plug-Ins?
Also, does Logic Pro X offer a one finger chord option for playing MIDI controllers? Thanks!

good for you, Data... so you already know that, even if it would work, CORRECTING the automatically generated transcription takes longer than just writing it by hand, then inputing it into the computer... How about the joy of finding just the right changes to go with your great composition? The computer is dumb, it only comes up with what was programed into it, and that, at best, is mediocre. If one is happy with this, it only shows one's insecurity of the little knowledge that one might have. And definitely kills the creative initiative.
Then, if you sincerily think that studying music is not necessary to make music... I really feel sorry for you... and I feel sorry for Music too. Or, maybe my cat is a great composer, and I didn't know it?...:-)

  • Converting from Quicktime/Midi audio files to MP3 format

Before I upgraded to Tiger, I could use itunes to convert into mp3 form all the Quicktime Midi files that my chorus director emailed to me. Then I burned them on to cds so that everybody in the chorus could play their part in their car on the way to work and learn it really well.
Well, now when I go through the exact same steps that are on the website (go to preferences, go to advanced, change encoder to mp3, etc etc) and itunes says that it cannot convert the file to mp3 because of "unknown error (-50)."
Any ideas on how to get around this other than trashing my Tiger and going back to Panther?

I bought and downloaded quicktime Pro and used it to convert my MIDI files. First you have to find your MIDI file on your HD. Then drag it into QuickTime. Then "export" the file and in the export window select aiff as the format. Save it to your HD. Then drag the aiff file into iTunes and it will play in iTunes (6.0.4 is the version I'm using) It will also burn to a CD from within iTunes. If you only want to play the file from within iTunes, you can skip the QuickTime conversion, and simply drag and drop the MIDI file from your HD into iTunes - iTunes will play it but won't allow the file to be burnt to a CD.

  • Converting drummer to midi and split into separate tracks

The drummer app in logic pro is great. I can then convert a phrase into mdi and copy to my own track for further modifications. Also great. But is there an easy way to convert a drummer track into midi, and to split each part of the drum (hh, snare, kick etc) out into their own bespoke tracks? So that each part of the drum is then on its own track for futher processing and control.

Thanks to all for advice, tips and ideas. Just shows that there is no one way to do something in LPX.
Here is what I have found works for me, so that I can take a great groove from the drummer track, convert to midi (so that I can modify the drum part), split the kit components out to individual tracks, then ensure each kit part has its own channel strip so that each part can be fully managed independently:
The drummer track is great for brilliant drum parts. But to make your own edits you want to convert the drum part to a midi track.
    To this:
Highlight the drummer track and r/click Convert To Midi Region.
Create a new track, then copy the midi region above into this new track.
In the new midi track, r/click the midi region, then select Separate By Note Pitch.
This auto creates a new track for each drum part, but they all share the same channel strip, so changing volume on one changes it on all.
To put these kit components into separate trax, do this:
To move them into unique channel strips, create a new midi/software track for each drum part, then drag each part from the original split into each of the new tracks. They now have their own channel strip.
Delete the original drummer and channel split trax.
You know have full independent control over each drum part. Assign your required drum kit to these trax and head bang away.

  • Best way to convert audio to midi?

    Hi.
I am in the process of layering/replacing drums and will need to create midi from some of my drum tracks.
Here is the ways I found so far:
    Region to new sampler track:
    - Pro: You can use transientmarkers as base for creating midi (which is the way I prefer)
    - Con: All velocities gets the same (?)
Drum replacement / Audio to Score:
    - Pro: Midi velocities based on the transients
    - Con: You can not generate midi based on transientmarkers. You need to use a threshold setting,
which means you get a hard time if you have a lot of "spill" in the track.
So, is the above observations right?
In my dream world I would like to base the midi on transient markers and get velocities based on the transients. Is this possible?
    All the best!

You're asking a bit much from automated processes there, I think - I  mean,  making a sampler instrument could well be a good idea, but you can't expect it to include how you're thinking about it with different velocities like you would with a set of drum samples versus a set of string samples, they're gonna be completely different - that's the bit you have to think about when you're building sampler instruments though, innit ?
There are a few different ways of translating audio to MIDI data - it might work for drums with Logic's own thing - it might need some editing, as well, not difficult but a bit tedious. To me, this is where Melodyne comes into its own.

  • Has anyone used Paragon NTFS or Tuxera for Median and Project Files

I have read lots of discussions about why this is not a good idea but my two options are to do this or switch to Sony Vargas for everything so it would be good if people could let me know if they have had this working successfully.
So has anyone successfully used either of these 2 NTFS drivers to edit SD/HDV or Prores projects on? My only experience has been using SD footage on an NTFS drive with the free NTFS-3G drivers. This worked fine as long as project files were on non NTFS drive (for same reason if I saved project on NTFS is saves a file with a size of zero bytes).
    Regards,
    Ben
PS I wonder if this thread will stay on topic;).

Macs can read drives that are formatted in NTFS as is. The software you mentioned enables a Mac to write to those drives. That said, you should edit using drives that are optimized for FCP and formatted Mac OS Extended.
Nothing to stop you copying the media from an NTFS drive to work with and then copying the finished result back.
As you are now in the position of having to do this, why not do a test and report back with your results?

  • FCP7 project usable on FCP 5?

    Hi all,
I've been searching around and can't find an answer so forgive me if this is covered elsewhere but if it is I can't find it.
I have to pick up a project that is coming from FCP 7.
I only have access to a system with FCP 5.0.4
I then have to hand it back to the original FCP 7
    (I know, nightmare...)
Will the project open and read the media?
    It's a documentary so it's mostly cuts.
I don't mind losing some effects, keyframes etc
Any chance in **** I can get this to work?
    Thanks in advance

You will not be able to open the project at all.  They would need to send you an XML, version 3 of the entire project...and you'd have to import that project.  BUT, if the media used in the project is ProRes, you won't be able to work with it at all.  FCP 5 doesn't do ProRes.
Either get on a machine with FCP 7 (since they don't sell it anymore), or admit that you cannot work on this. because I assure you, if this is a ProRes project, you will not be able to work on it in FCP 5.  And even getting the project from FCP 7 to 5 would take some finesse.

  • Converting to ProRes changes Media Start and End

I have a series of clips that were incorrectly all captured Uncompressed.
Primarily to save on space, I need to convert them to ProRes.
Using Compressor, I drop the clips in and use one of the preset settings for High Quality Progressive ProRes and convert. The conversion works great.
However, after I replace the clips with the new slimmer versions, when I start FCP up and reconnect them, it tells me that the Media Start and End changed. Indeed, when I look at the Uncompressed and ProRes version in FCP, they do not have the same Media Start and End values.
Can anyone help me understand what is going on here? How is the conversion changing these values?
Or better yet, provide me with a better workflow for converting all these clips to ProRes so FCP does not have a fit?
    Thanks,
    Dean

To keep the same timecode, you have to use the Media Manager and RECOMPRESS.

  • Convert from AIFF-C audio to midi

I'm looking for a way to convert from AIFF-C format to midi on my Mac, and to use with a music program.
I can import the AIFF-C file into GarageBand, but can't seem to export it in midi format, which surprised me -- is this not supported?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for your replies.
I did a bit of research, and see that there are a number of software products out there that claim to convert audio to midi, but I also see that reviewers report mixed results. So before exploring or trying one of these, somewhat blindly, I was hoping to see if there were any options I had missed with Mac software I already own and trust, from GarageBand to QuickTime to Finale's PrintMusic (have I missed anything?).
And if not, then I'm hoping to get more info from Mac users about what you may have tried and what works best. Here are some of the leading options I've tripped across so far, converting to midi from audio formats AIFF-C and mp3 (since I have easy access to the source as well as the ripped versions):
    - http://www.bestshareware.net/download/widi-recognition-system-pro.htm
    - http://www.computing.net/answers/mac/aiff-to-midi/2549.html
    - http://www.mymusictools.com/articles/how-do-i-convert-mp3-to-midi.htm
    - http://www.brothersoft.com/downloads/mp3-to-midi-converter.html
    - http://www.topshareware.com/mp3-to-midi-converter/downloads/1.htm
... and then I just found this one: http://convert.software.informer.com/download-convert-aiff-to-midi-mac/
If you have any thoughts about any of the above, or other techniques or software that would do the job, I'm all ears!
    Thanks!

  • How can i convert MPEG file to midi or wav format

    Hi,
Can any one help me in converting MPEG music file to midi or wav format.
I am trying to import it to my 3D application to run my animation but have to convert it to midi or wav format.
Can anyone help me please. Audition can do this job ?
    Steve

For a start, MIDI isn't a sound format, so you can't possibly convert mpeg to that. All MIDI is is a way of sending note-on, note-off, etc information. It stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface - gives you a bit of a clue, really...
Audition will automatically convert any file it can open to wav (that's how it works), but since you haven't said what sort of mpeg file it is (and this is significant), we can't tell you any more until you do.
