ProResHQ support (or lack of perhaps)

Just quick question about ProResHQ support in CS5:
Being a long-time Premiere user, I've not really handled much of that particular intermediate format unless I've been working on an FCP workstation. However, I thought I'd have a play around with some ProRes clips on my new HP laptop as a manner of testing the playback quality of this format within the latest iteration of Premiere, which I had heard supports this format natively. However, on playback in a timeline, I have found both 1080p and 720p clips playback smoothly only for a second or two and then become stuttery. This happens whether the playback resolution is set to 1/2 or 1/4 though there is a clip that I found that is "SD" resolution that plays back fine even in full quality. Curiously, all of these clips play back fine on quicktime player...
Before the assumptions are made that my system my system probably isn't coping with the resolutions, let me clarify a few things. I have also been testing some R3D 4K footage recently with effects and colour corrections and cutting projects shot on the Canon 7D too and all this has played back as smooth as butter. I have also made sure that the ProRes clips I have imported are playing back using the correct sequence settings using the method of dragging-and-dropping on the "new item" icon in the project bin. I have a core i7, 4GB RAM, 1GB Nvidia 230M (I have used the documented "hack" to enable CUDA acceleration in Premiere as seen here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2791514#2791514) and so get a yellow bar most times, as I have in this case too with the ProRes clips. I have tested both scenarios where Mercury is software only and where GPU acceleration is enabled, but in both cases, the video is not smooth, which is disappointing.
So I just want to check if I have read into the marketing correctly and confirm whether or not Premiere Pro CS5 does actually support ProRes playback natively? It's not really a biggie for me as I do prefer the native root, of course, but it would have been more useful if I were involved in any projects in future that were cross-platform, working alongside FCP editors, so if it's not actually supported properly, is there any plan to fix this soon?
Ok, so this wasn't such a quick question after all....

Actually you may be right on this one. I was thinking the same as this was a quick first test to see what it could do and I didn't account for the bit-rate issue of this particular codec.  Curiously, the R3D footage I've been testing off the system drive plays more stable than this footage! However, I'm primarily using a WD external dual-disk RAID-0 drive over esata, which does in fact seem more stable overall... I just assumed that this footage would playback as smoothly as everything else I've been throwing at Premiere so far! Thanks for your helpful thoughts Colin - mystery solved!

  • HP Support (or lack of)

I have an OfficeJet 4500 with the normal problem, won't wake from sleep mode.  A well known issue for HP, has been from the bith of this printer.  They still have not bothered to issue a firmware update to fix it.  I finally got through to someone the other night that actually agreed to replace the unit, same model so same issue.  Not exactly a resolution as far as i'm concerned.  So yesterday i get an email from HP stating that i had a 4500, serial number everything, and the replacement was to be an eStation c510 again with a serial number and everything.
I call them just now and get someone in Pakistan that took 18 tries to get the serial number right for my original unit.  My question was only which printer I was actually recieving, CSO says im getting 4500 compared to c510 in the email.
They finally said I was lieing to them and hung up on me after 51 minutes on the phone.
I am extremely unsatisfied with HP's lack of support, will more than likely never buy anything from them again.  Also I will be forwarding this directly to HP Head Office.

This is typical for HP - had a computer go out 11/20/2010, which was still under warrantee.  They sent a very nice repair man who replaced ever component in the computer THREE times.  On 12/7/2010, they agreed to replace the computer.  Fast forward to today February 4, 2011 - Many hours on the phone with HP, mostly with people in India who I have to keep asking "Could you repeat that please" we are still waiting for a warrantee replacement.  The excuse now is that they are building it in China!!!!  Anticipated shipping date (don't hold your breath) is February 24.  This was a corporate purchase and they treat us like this!!!  Looking in to changing most computers over to Mac's.  Life shouldn't be as difficult as HP makes it.
But did I learn - NO - purchased a HP Laser Jet 2035n printer (with an extended warrantee through Staples) and can not get it setup so I don't have to keep pushing the button to print with each page.  Have tried everything - IT guy coming in to look at it.

  • Support - or lack of it

So, I'm a new iMac user - in fact this is probably the first time I have ever used something from Apple since I used a Lisa many years ago.
I received by 28" iMac towards the end of November. I used it for two days and then had to leave on a business trip. I came back yesterday and realised that there was a strange glow from the LCD panel at the bottom of the screen. I thought, OK, a defective panel - it happens - I'll just call support and get it fixed.
Wow, what a strange and frustrating experience. I was asked by the support rep to run some disk utilities and repair permissions (***?). I was then asked to unplug everything and press the power key (was this to get rid of static?).
Suprise, suprise, it didn't make any difference and he then said I would have to return this to an authorised repair centre to get it fixed.
So, the object of my posting is to ask what alternatives do I have. I looked on the support pages within this site and there is no e-mail address I can use to contact someone to explain why I feel Apple is not ready to enter the corporate computing world.
Does anyone have any advice for me? I am located in Madrid (just north of it) and this was a company purchase.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Emmet

    Good morning Emmet,
Just to correct you on your On-Site interpretation...
This comprehensive plan includes expert telephone technical support, global repair coverage, onsite repairs for desktop computers(1)
If you read a bit further down...
    1. Onsite service is not available in all locations. Please see the Terms & Conditions for details.
Which delving into the Terms and conditions for your Region...
(ii) Onsite service is available for many desktop computers if the location of the Covered
Equipment is within 50 miles/80 kilometers radius of an Apple authorized onsite service
provider located in a country listed in section 7(d). Apple will dispatch a service technician to
the location of the Covered Equipment. Service will be performed at the location, or the service
technician will transport the Covered Equipment to an Apple Authorized Service Provider or
Apple repair service location for repair. If the Covered Equipment is repaired at an Apple
Authorized Service Provider or Apple repair service location, Apple will arrange for
transportation of the Covered Equipment to your location following service. If the service
technician is not granted access to the Covered Equipment at the appointed time, any further
onsite visits may be subject to an additional charge.
(iii) Direct mail-in service is available for most Covered Equipment. If Apple determines that your
Covered Equipment is eligible for mail-in service, Apple will send you prepaid shipping labels
(and if you no longer have the original packaging, Apple may send you packaging material) and
you will ship the Covered Equipment to Apple’s repair service location in accordance with its
instructions. Once service is complete, the Apple repair service location will return the Covered
Equipment to you. Apple will pay for shipping to and from your location if all instructions are
    followed.
So in short, Apple doesn't promise on-site service at any time unless you meet a very specific set of conditions, make sure you read the fine print!
Please also keep in mind this ONLY applies to AppleCare customers, those who have the extended warranty program, as the on-site mentions all come from the AppleCare pages and guides.
    Hope this helps! 

  • Ongoing WiFi issues and Apple Support's lack of support!

    Hi All,
I bought my MacBook Air in July/August 2012 (i7, 8GB RAM, 256 GB HDD, Mountain Lion). Since the first day, I have had issues with wifi connectivity. My primary use was at the university in Australia, where I had frequent drop outs and at times no connection at all. the university does not officially support Apple products and I was stuck with Apple support asking me to check with network administrators. I was also advised to re-install the OS, reset PRAM etc with no improvements. Then I had a 4 month stint as an exchange student in an Indian university. As i was not using my laptop at the university, I couldnt monitor the WiFi connectivity in these 4 months. Once back in Australia in January 2013, the issue surfaced again. Multiple conversations with Apple Support led me to another 4 re-installations and replacing my router with an uber expensive one. The reasons given by Apple were either the router's quality or interference from other networks. The new router supported 5Ghz band and had no intereference what so ever. I started to notice that the connectivity is far better with the wifi signal showing full range, but internet does not work. All is well if I am sitting right next to the router. The minute i move 5-8 metres away, Internet becomes super slow (from 12-14 Mbps to 1-2 Mbps on speedtest.net) and eventually does not load. At the same time, all other devices, including my iphone 5, ipad 2, ipad mini and other PCs in the apartment works perfectly fine.
On speaking to Apple Support, i was asked to conduct SNR checks and found out that the SNR readings fluctuate like ****. From 1-2 to 25-30. The Signal strength on my MacBook Air stays at -75dB to -65 dB. Armed with this info, the Airport card was replaced. But the issue still persists. The MacBook Air is presently at Apple waiting to get its display (antennas are embedded here) replaced. But I have lost total confidence in Apple. Is there anyone who had similar issues and found a stable solution? Other symptoms which may be connected are Mail becoming nonresposive intermitently, Power Nap function not working, battery life never more than 4 hours.
Apple Support has been appalling in a very courteous manner. Even though the commincation and care they took to talk to me, the issue hasnt been solved and its been 11 months!!
Any comments, advices and support will be appreciated.
    Thank You!

I am sorry, maybe my comment was vague. I am an engineer too albiet in the medical devices sector. Problem for me is that, I have been talking to Apple for about 11 months now. If you know where I live and how far the Apple Store is, you'd understand my frustration. I have been accomodating so far and do love the customer service experience I get from Apple. I am a proud owner of 2 iPads, an iPad mini, an iPod classic, an iPod Touch, an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 5 besides the MacBook Air. They are the most courteous and receptive Customer Service Reps out there. But all the courtesy does not hide the fact that my MBA is 11 months old and still having an issue starting 11 monthds ago. I had taken this machine to the stores numerous times. With the last week, i was getting to a point where I felt I have done enough to try everything except replacement of the machine to try fixing this issue. But now, Apple wont play ball. the rep said, i quote "your machine is almost a year old and you cant expect Apple to replace it". they have support call documents to prove that i have been talking to them about the issue since 11 months and to top it all, I have also purchased the $279 extended warranty. At the time of purchase the rep promised me that 'I would be send a box containing a loan machine while yours can be sent to us and fixed'. if you go through my posts here in mac forum, I had raised the issue here as well.
Now coming to the question, I have exhausted my options with Apple support and wanted to know if anyone else had the same issue and found a fix. With that maybe i can stop pulling my hair apart - realistically, stop myself from making another long trip to the Apple Store.

  • Apple customer support (or lack of it)

I am trying to get my IPod repaired under warranty in the UK. Apple's support on line system says that the warranty is out of date (as it has done on the other 2 occasions when I have had to send the thing back), and to post the proof of purchase. I have done so 3 times over the last 2 months ... and nothing. No reply, no emails, just a note on my support page saying "Awaiting Customer Action". Anyone got a phone number which might get me some attention?

  • Hp support or lack thereof

I have a presario f700 under warranty and the usb ports stopped responding.  When I sent it in,they diagnosed water/smoke damage which is entirely false.   I was passed to 3 different "service techs";  I specifically asked the third one before I explained the dilemma.  After arguing with her for a while she started the mantra over and said I couldn't talk to the service tech as they didn't have phones!!!!!  So after lying to me that she was a service tech and lied that the service techs aren't allowed to have phones how am I supposed to believe them about the bogus diagnosis? The service tech I talked to about the problem originally was on the phone. The rest of the computer worked fine, except the usb ports.I guess the liquid/smoke was magic and just went to a certain area. I think they are trying to just get out of standing by the warranty, which is up in about two weeks. Anyway, I am trying to find out how to contact HP directly with an email to resolve this issue. I feel like the phone is just being passed around in a room to a different person each time, I guess whoever draws the short straw.  They now want me to pay $750 to get it fixed. How do I actually talk to someone with authority?

I have just had the most frustrating time (3+ hours) with HP's so called Technical Support. All I was asking for was a part number...
eventually they tried to send me to phone support who will not answer anything about an out of warranty machine, even a part number, and they knew that, they were just trying to get rid of me without answering my question. It was only the volume of my voice with phone support which eventually got me a supervisor who (against their "can't help if out of warranty" rules) stated that that part had no number, it was part of the M/B and that I should take it to any technician and that "they" would know how to replace it. This was after hours of chat support. I was hoping to order the replacement so that I could guarantee a suitable and timely repair. I repeatedly tried to "buy" the part but they said they couldn't supply it
In the interest of this specific forum, a serious suggestion to HP on how to reduce customer frustration and complaints.
Put knowledgeable people on the phone and give them the tools they require to do their jobs, namely manuals and phones they can use to access other resources for the client, etc. Or better yet put actual technicians on the phone! Provide access to complaint forms for those who have been frustrated by the poor service, and hire some supervisor's who have the chestnuts to come to the phone and deal directly with unsatisfied customers. Then give them some resources to compensate those who have already been offended by the atrocious business practices of your suuport team and who have wasted hours of their own time getting no where due to poor service.
Seems to me the entire HP support team could use a trip to MacDonald's University!
I've posted the entire chat session in the following post so that others will know what they're up against when calling up Chat Support...

  • So frustrated with support (or lack thereof)

I've been working for two years to convince my management to transition to FrameMaker (we've been an Interleaf/Quicksilver shop for 15+ years).  After making the committment about 6 months ago, we purchased all sorts of licenses for all sorts of Adobe products, we have been actively transitioning.
At the end of February, we discovered an issue with LOTs and LOFs and submitted a support ticket (ticket actually dated 3/2).  As of today, I have spent a total of 13.5 hours on the phone (mostly on hold) and we still have no idea of a solution or status on this issue.  Over 4 weeks and no committment in sight, is this the support we can expect from Adobe?
If so, I may have made a grave mistake in selling this transition -- as horrible a product QS has been over the years (IMO) and as expensive the support is, we have never had this type of issue with them.
Have I made a major mistake?

There is a thread here on the forum and some folks have given it a look.  There is only a work-around (which is to not allow tables to float).  We have to be able to let the tables float, so the work-around we are using is to manually adjust the LOT and LOF after generation to put the items in the correct order.
The gist of the problem is that when tables are set to float, if more than one end up floating to the same page, generation of LOT and LOF may end up out of order.  The issue has been "bumped up to the second level" according to Adobe and we've supplied a sample book, but it is widespread in all of our documentation and it is a pain to manually adjust the LOT and LOF after every generation (and there is concern that this manual process may end up with mistakes).

  • Technical Support (or lack thereof)

I was just trying to check, if there was new firmware available for my router (WRT610N-V2) but, when accessing the the Canadian download page, I encountered an error: The "Download" link simply did not work. I phoned the Canadian support line but the customer support representative was totally uncooperative.
I attempted to describe my problem to her but she simply did not believe me. I tried to get her to go to the web page in question, but initially she refused to do so. Eventually she said she did go to the page and described the page the way it "should" be. Since she was (supposedly) looking at the same page I was looking at and seeing something different from what I was seeing I started to get decidedly frustrated and asked for the direct download link of the latest firmware. She kept insisting there was no direct download link and eventually I ended the call.
    Further research revealed the following:
The problem only exists on the Canadian site: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-ca/support/routers/WRT610N/download
    the equivalent European site:                                http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-eu/support/routers/WRT610N/download
and the equivalent US site:                                    http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/WRT610N/download
    work perfectly fine
The direct download link fort he latest firmware for my router is
    http://homedownloads.cisco.com/downloads/firmware/FW_WRT610NV2_2.00.01.15_20100913_US_code.bin
Cisco: You really need to work on the quality of your support! I encourage you to review the recording of my conversation with your Canadian support representative "Francis" and make some remedial education available to her: If I had been your normal average end consumer, after this "support" call, I would never touch a cisco product again.

At the time I triedaccessing the page from my main W7-64 computer under the latest versions of Firefox and Internet Explorer. I also tried it from my secondary XP machine in both browsers > All machines showed the page cut off right after the "Overview - Guide Me - FAQs -  Forums - Downloads - Videos - Live Chat" Bar. When clicking on the Download tab, nothing happened - The entire download section, where it prompts for the hardware version - was missing. I just tried to access the page again and it now displays properly.

  • Adobe support = atrocious

I installed the upgrade to CS4 Saturday.  It came with the usual “register now for a free gift” card (free font, training or book discount).  I registered it immediately, but was given no info on how to claim the gift.  Online support instructions said to either open a case or call an 800 number.  I opened a case and typed in all my info (incl. serial #).  Four days later (Adobe, why do you promise a response within one business day if you can’t fulfill it?), I received an email, but had to open a PDF attachment to read the two-sentence reply.  (Adobe, why make customers do this extra step instead of putting your reply in the body of the email?)  The reply said I have to call the 800 number.  (Then Adobe, why did your instructions say I should either open a case OR call the number for registration issues?)
I called the 800 number and navigated the menu.  Naturally, the options didn’t include my issue so I had to guess.  After a long wait, I was finally connected with an Indian to whom I had to recite all the info I’d included in the case I filed.  After a while, she said she couldn’t help me, and had to transfer me to customer support.
Another long wait, with painfully loud music.  Finally another Indian came on the line.  I had to start all over again explaining the problem and giving him my info.  Long waits as he did something in the background.  I asked if he was still there; he said yes, but for some reason his PC was very slow today.  He put me on hold.  After holding for 15 minutes (total call time now 45 min.), I gave up.
Scr*w you, Adobe.  I’m posting my experience on every customer support horror story site I can find, so everyone knows how you take product orders promptly and then leave your customers hanging when there’s a problem.

You've stumped and/or insulted Adobe Support.  Cool.  The fact you were on the phone for so long and with multiple people suggests they didn't have an answer readily for you from their support database, but were trying to find someone more experienced, somewhere, or perhaps contact someone on the other side of the planet where the servers are actually running to accept the gift requests, that had information about the issue.  If any of the attitude shown in posts, here, was also communicated on the phone calls, perhaps they were waiting for things to cool down.  Rather than being on hold and talking to more than one person being atrocious, perhaps it means Adobe Support was trying hard to get you a resolution, although it might have taken longer than you'd like.  If you hung up then it was your decision to give up, not theirs.
Instead of playing stump-support, did you try uninstalling and reinstalling to see if you get the Registration panel, again?  I've only ever gotten a free gift, once--Photoshop User magazine, I think, the first time I ever registered for such, even though I've filled out the registration panel for subsequent upgrades, sometimes more than once whenever I install it.  I've never even considered calling Support over lack of reciept of something that is really just a marketing ploy to get you to sign up for more of what you got one free of.  I don't need another Photoshop magazine, nor another font, and sites that sell training typically have some free samples to watch that I don't have to sign up with Adobe to view.  The fact you're getting a free gift out of someone suggests they will be using the information you've supplied to receive it for their own or someone else's gain, and I don't really need to start getting spam from Adobe, either.
Otherwise, if the deliverable was electronic, and Adobe did send you an e-mial about it, maybe that e-mail got caught in a junk/spam filter, somewhere, either on your computer, or perhaps upstream from you, at your ISP, where you'll never get any indication it has been blocked from delivery.
You might try again and post what gift you asked for, and what sort of information you supplied on the registration panel (e-mail only or e-mail and postal address), and see if your experience compares with others, here, and make the subject of the thread about not receiving free-gift info, rather than about support being bad.  The situation seems a little like those crank 911 calls you hear, sometimes, where someone is calling 911 to report they didn't get a toy in their happy meal, and expect the police to do something about it.

  • I wish Digital Voice Support would resolve my issue.

So I have had an ongoing Digital Voice issue for a month now, I have had several conversations, several trouble tickets opened and they have been closed and the issue is still not resolved. I spend over $200.00 a month for this triple play and all of a sudden I can't access Digital Voice, I can't block numbers, I can't turn on Do Not Disturb nothing. So I added a topic on here earlier to vent my frustration.
I wonder why Verizon can monitor these boards quickly but can't resolve easy issue as quick. Perhaps they should hire QUALIFIED Technical Reps, rather then these people that have names you can't pronounce, when you call you are on hold for atleast an hour, when 90% of the time you are blindly transfered into another queue where you have another hour long wait. I have reviewed many posts on here so I am just one of many that find that the technical support is lacking at best.
Does anyone have a email or telephone number to a Supervisor at Verizon? Maybe if I can contact a supervisor rather than a glorified operator I may get this frustrating issue resolved once and for all.....
    CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!

    Good morning rpenman65,
Sorry for the delay in resolving your issue, but we did get it taken care of. Our team got in contact with the online account specialists who were able to merge the old and new account names to properly configure the profile. Please let us know if you need anything else and I hope you have a wonderful day.
    Thank you,

  • Macbook Pro Retina HDMI Does Not Support 2560 x 1080

I have both the early and late 2013 rMBP 15 inch but it seems like the early 2013 does not support my Dell U2913WM at maximum resolution of 2560 x 1080 for some reason on HDMI. Are the HDMI ports any different between the two? I'm tried using SwitchResX, but at 2560 x 1080, I can only go up to 53 Hz before it says invalid configuation on the early 2013 rMBP. On the late 2013 rMBP, it can output 2560 x 1080 at 60 Hz fine. It would seem like both graphics cards are more than capable of pushing this resolution, and if I connect through Displayport, they're both fine too. I was hoping to use HDMI though to free up a Thunderbolt port. Why are the HDMI ports not outputting at the same capabilities?

Absolutely, I understand that but I'm wondering if or why Apple has limited the HDMI port on the early 2013 rMBP. HDMI 1.4 should be more than capable at outputting up to 4k resolution, so it would seem like Apple is intentially limiting the early 2013 rMBP to HDMI 1.2? At least one post from as early as 2012 seems to suggest that installing Windows on a rMBP allows higher outputs. I thought Mavericks included support for HDMI 1.4 (http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?101431-10-9-Mavericks-4K-working-tes ting-it-now) but did they not extend it down to the early 2013 rMBP? Seems like it would be able to support it, no?
Perhaps the better question is whether anyone has been able to output anything at over 1080P on anything other than the latest rMBP after upgrading to Mavericks?
    From the earlier discussion:
"The port definitely supports it, but OS X is another story. If I boot into Windows and connect it to a display capable of displaying 2560x1440 over HDMI, it just works. If I'm in OSX, it refuses to allow anything over 1920x1200. Even if I try to force the resolution with SwitchResX, it doesn't work. If I create a custom resolution with a 40Hz refresh rate instead of 60Hz, then it does actually work. 2560x1440 @ 40Hz fits within the bandwidth constraints of a single link at 165MHz. So it appears that OSX limits the port to 1.2 frequencies. I'm not realy sure why -- HDMI 1.4 should allow for frequencies upto 340MHz, and the hardware is clearly capable based on Windows."
Now that Mavericks supports higher than 1080P over HDMI at least on the latest rMBP, did they just not extend that support to earlier rMBP's even though the hardware is capable of it?

  • Why does Acrobat tech support seem to know nothing about shared reviews?

Venting, but also asking honestly why Adobe has to suck so bad in their support of Acrobat....
I was on the phone with Acrobat tech support today (outsourced team perhaps?) to ask about another issue I'm having with disappearing comments. I can't see the comments, but another reviewer can. I can see on the webDAV server that the comments are there, sitting in the XML file under the reveiwer's name, but when I open the PDF, it won't grab those comments.
Not one but TWO tech support guys at Adobe seemed bewildered by these XML files that they think I created. I had to explain that I created nothing; that's what Acrobat does when one creates a shared review. It makes an XML file for each reviewer, and sticks it in a shared folder of your choosing, whose URL name is baked into the PDF. I had to walk each of them through the process of creating a shared review, and they both acted as if it was some mysterious weird process that I'm jerryrigging.
They said it was "unusual" that I am using a webDAV server, but I told them that webDAV is one of the three options provided by Adobe's wizard when setting up a shared review. (The other options are Network Folder and Sharepoint.) I told them it's not unusual at all; in fact, I got all the original setup instructions FROM ADOBE.
They kept putting me on hold for three to five minutes to apparently try looking stuff up, or maybe just to avoid my growing wrath.
I had another hunch that the problem might be that my synchronized folder may need to be cleared out (gotten from this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3596773) and asked them if they could tell me where to find the synchronization folder on Mac, as that thread refers to Windows only. He had no idea. I asked him that surely, somewhere at Adobe where he works, somebody knows where that's set up on the Mac.
He put me on hold for three to five minutes and said he didn't know, but he'll "escalate" this and get back to me in 24 to 48 hours, which is the fastest turnaround time they can muster, apparently.
The only soultions I ever find to my Acrobat woes are from the beleaguered users themselves. I also suspect that only users (not Adobe's tech support, who don't seem to care about anything) will ever even read this.

We had the same problem in Germany... Turns out that the Regional and Language settings in the Client OS is causing the problems. If you change the decimal format from a , to a . it will solve the problem.. all comments will be places and vieable by all... pls clear all cache and profile settings first to start with a clean test... i hope this helps your situation..

Flash WORKS on Mac but _Apple has stopped support for versions 8 and beyond_. It was in their securities update notes several months ago.
Really? Can you provide a link to any statement from Apple that they officially stopped supporting Flash, other than quoting language from a previous secutiry update which in no way explicitly states that Flash won't be supported? In fact, the text you copied/pasted is the description of the vulnerability being addressed by the update you copied the text from, which in and of itself is evidence of continued support for Flash.
Perhaps you can explain why the Security Update 2008-003/Mac OS 10.5.3, released 5/28/08, included an update of the Flash Player Plug-in to version 9.0.124.0? That update addressed the most recent security risk associated with Flash as reported on Adobe's security tracking page (dated 4/8/08).
So, I reiterate - Apple _has not_ "dropped" support for Flash.
