Pros and cons of creating a table with key

Hi Folks
I have some tables where there is no key defined in the source system. What is the best way to build such tables. In my case the source system is Teradata.
I have 25-30 columns in dimension and what is the best way to load this data where there is no.
What will be the Pros and Cons if I have a table without a key  or if I create a table with 25-30 keys.
regards
Poonam

I recently purchased a Mac Mini and am using it with my TV.  Here's what I found:
Using the HDMI connection on the Mac Mini, the image on the TV is very harsh.  It's very bright, high contrast and garish colors.  I did a lot of testing and am convinced this is due to the HDMI Display Profile in OS X Yosemite.  I could not find any way to change the display profile in the Mac Mini as long as HDMI was the connection.
Using the miniDisplayport/Thunderbolt connection on the Mac Mini, with the Apple miniDisplayPort-DVI adapter and a DVI-HDMI cable the picture is perfect.  (Note, however, that this connection only carries video; if you want audio you will have to use a separate cable to connect the Mac Mini audio line out port to your TV's audio line in port.)
That said, the larger the TV the less quality you will have displaying text.  I suggest using a 21" or smaller TV as a monitor if you will be doing text work.
My setup is with a 40" Sony Bravia 1080p HDTV and the primary use is for video (concerts, movies, Skype, etc), not office apps.   As I said earlier, the picture is perfect - brightness, contrast, colors, resolution are as nice as I could ask for.

    Narendra,
If they are programmed correctly, then you shouldn't have any problems.
However, you may need to create some new ABAP reports.

  • Pros and cons of EPM and Classic Application.

    Hi All Experts,
can any one tell me what are the pros and cons if create EPM Application
and pros and cons if we create Classic Planning Application
this is really urgent we have to submit this to our client as soon as possible

    Hi,
The main difference between using of classic and EPMA is I think hidden in the first letter of EPMA. EPMA is for Enterprises where multiple performance management applications are considered applicable. When you have an HFM application, a planning application, a performance scorecard application, a couple of essbase cubes around and lots of reports pulling data from all these, sharing data and metadata becomes crucially important. And no mistake, classic planning is as good as EPMA planning and easier to handle, however, if your company or client is thinking of having a total EPM solution in place, then EPMA is the right choice. However, since you can always convert your classic app to EPMA but you've got only one bullet to fire, it might be wise to stick with classic application until your client/company starts imagining that sort of ambitious goal.

  • What are the Pros and Cons while joining tables at DF and Universe level

    Hi Experts,
I am new to Data federator designer. I need help on the below.
Could you please let me know the Pros and Cons while joining the source tables in data federator
And While joining the DF target tables in universe designer.
    Regards,
    Gana

    Hi,
    1. I have created target tables based on source tables with one to one mapping and then join all target tables in universe.
Ex: Source tables: Infocube text tables, fact tables and 3rd party data base table
Target tables:Target tables are same as source tables
--- Yes this is the way to create target Tables  and join them in the universe. These target Tables gives you the flexibility  like in future your requirement is to add one more object based on some calculation which is not possible in the universe so that time you can create  one more column in the target table and do the calculation. at the same time if you are using source table you can not do anything.
    2. Created single target table with all objects of source tables and merged all sources tables data.
Ex: Source tables: Infocube text tables, fact tables and 3rd party data base table
    Target table: Single table.
--- This is bit complex structure to merge all tables data in the one target table.in this situation you have to put more efforts and it is more complex.basically this type of target table is useful when you are merging data by multiple source into single  or  creating one target table based on the  union of tables by adding two mapping rules or more and you can not join tables in universe.
Better approach is first 1. create target tables based on the source tables and join them in the universe.
    Thanks,

  • Pros and cons of writing quries on fact and dim tables?

I am creating some BeX queries on some cubes and dsos. I am facing some performance issues in these queries while executing. Some one suggested me to write queries directly on data tables ( for example /BIC/abc ) of those cubes and ods. I wanted to know pros and cons of doing it so.

  • Pros and cons in setting AD domain trust into my AD domain for more than 10+ AD domain and some with same FQDN or label ?

    Hi,
Can someone please share what is the pros and Cons of trusting AD domain for more than 10 different AD sites into my existing single domain forest let say ParentCompany.com ?
At the moment I only have one single forest AD domain with the Domain and Forest functionality Windows Server 2003. The main domain controller FSMO role holder is in the Data Center spread across three different VMs running on Windows Server 2008 R2.
The main/parent company has acquired smaller business chain of 15+ offices in which they have their own Domain Controller and also their own domain, sometimes they also got the same AD domain between them (no trust or whatsoever in those 15+ AD domain).
Sounds crazy but yes, there is no standardization in them or whoever manage their IT infrastructure previously.
I'm now considering what are the benefits of creating the AD domain and trust versus importing those AD objects into my domain and then decommission them.
No need to worry about Exchange Server since all of the user in those sites connecting to the RDS to my ParentCompany.com terminal servers.
My requirements or goal are as follows:
    1. Simplify the AD domain structure & maintenance
    2. Try to avoid the disruptions of the user in terms of downtime and selecting multiple different domain everytime they login to their PC or SharePoint sites.
any kind of help and suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

I think you mean 10 AD domains.
Managing multiple domains can be difficult for administration. I usually recommend using a single domain in a single forest with OUs to separate resources whenever it is possible.
However, if you can't do that then you can simply create trust relationships between your domains. The advantage is that you can enable access to resources to different domains. I do not see cons here.

I would recommend consolidating your domains into a single one. ADMT is a migration tool that you can use. The advantage would be the ease of administration. Also, by having multiple DCs for the same domain across sites, you will take benefit of High Availability
    of your and DRP.

  • How to Create a Table with Merge and partitions in HANA

    Hi,
What is the best way to create a Table with MERGE and PARTITION and UNLOAD PRIORITIES.
Any body can you please give me some examples.
    Regards,
    Deva

    Ok,
    1) the UNLOAD PRIORITY has nothing to do with the order of data loads in your ETL process
    2) Unloading of columns will happen automatically. Don't specify anything specific for the tables, then SAP HANA will take care about it
    3) Not sure where you get your ideas from, but there is no need to manually "flush" tables or anything like that. SAP HANA will take care of memory housekeeping.
    4) Partitioning and how to specify it for tables has been largely documented. Just read up on it.
    5) Delta Merge will happen automatically, as long as you don't prevent it (e.g. by trying to outsmart the mergedog rules)
Seriously, I get the impressions that this list of requirements is based on some hear-say and lack of actual information and experience with SAP HANA. There are a couple of extensive discussions on data loading optimization available here in SCN and on SAPHANA.COM. Please read those first.
All this had been discussed broadly a couple of times.

  • What are the pros and cons re using an intel iMac vs MacPro with LP8?

I'm considering getting a new intel Mac in the near future (presuming a new MacPro will be released in the near future - maybe at the same time as Leopard). I compose largely for film and television and I am composing largely using a combination of loops, software instruments and some recorded live performance. I usually sync to a low res quicktime movie.
I do like the idea of a simple and uncluttered work environment with an iMac, added to which there's also a degree of portability with the iMac however the MacPro is obviously more powerful. I'm not sure how much the difference in power between the two computers would affect me.
Would I be compromising myself much if I went for the iMac over the MacPro? What are the pros and cons of the iMac vs the MacPro in relation to Logic Pro 8?

In the world large-scale music composition using samples, loops, etc (especially for film) your two biggest needs are RAM and HD speed/access. The imac looses big time in this department (as a single computer at least) as it can only be upgraded to 4gb ram, and only holds one internal HD, and also lacks any PCI expansion for DSP cards, audio interfaces, etc.
In generalyou want to separate your data vs applications as much as possible, to ensure both can be accessed quickly and easily by the computer. So its best to have your system software / applications on one internal HD, and your logic data (samples, audio recordings, loops) on another drive(s). You can do this with an iMac via USB, FW800, & FW400, but depending on how big your projects get, how many USB and FW drives / interfaces you use, and how much data you need to stream, you could overload the buss on the imac (not sure if it has multiple busses or not). Plus speed wise, internal SATA are much faster than external drives, and the mac pro with its 4 internal slots seems like a great choice for speed and flexibility.
However, if you dont find yourself doing large scale projects, then you might be better off going with an imac. We just purchased one for my father and it runs great! It blows the socks off of my Dual 2.5 G5 tower in terms of CPU speed! If you run into problems running things from the imac, you could always add a mac-mini down the road to stream sample libs, as a Logic node, etc, which seems to be a much more cost effective solution.
I hope this was helpful, but I probably just made the decision harder . In fact, if I were to start over today, I dont know if I'd go with a MacPro, or an iMac / mac mini combination. they both seem to have their advantages / disadvantages.
    Best of luck!

  • Problem creating a table with a subquery and a dblink

    Hello!!
I have a little problem. When I create a table with a subquery and a dblink, for example:
CREATE TABLE EXAMPLE2 AS SELECT * FROM EXAMPLE1@DBLINK
the table definition is changed. Fields with a type of CHAR or VARCHAR2 are created with a size three times bigger than the original table in the remote database. Field of type DATE and NUMBER are not changed. For example if the original table, in the database 1, has a field of type CHAR(1) it is create in the local database with a type of CHAR(3), and a VARCHAR2(5) field is created with VARCHAR2(15).
    Database 1 has a WE8DEC character set.
    Database 2 has a AL32UTF8 character set.
Could it be related to the difference in character sets?
What can I do to make Oracle use the same table definition when creating a table in this way?
    Thanks!!

That is related to character sets, and probably necessary if you want all the data in the remote table to be able to fit in the new table.
When you declare a column VARCHAR2(5), by default, you're allocating 5 bytes of storage. In a single-byte character set, which I believe WE8DEC is, that also happens to equate to 5 characters. In a multi-byte character set like AL32UTF8, though, 1 character may require up to 3 bytes of storage, so you'd need to allocate 15 bytes to store that data. That's what's going on here.
You could still store all the data if you create the table locally by explicitly requesting 5 characters of storage by declaring the column VARCHAR2(5 CHAR). You could also set the NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS parameter to CHAR rather than BYTE before creating the table, but I believe that both of these will only apply when you're explicitly defining columns as part of your CREATE TABLE. I don't believe either will apply to CTAS statements.

  • What are the pros and cons of running iTunes from an SD card with a Retina MBP?

    Hello,
I'm thinking about getting a Retina MBP, but I think the default storage of 256GB is way to small to be used as a main computer and the upgrade to 512GB is very expensive. I was thinking of ways to reduce bulky files and was considering running iTunes from an SD card. Does anybody have any experience with doing this, what pros and cons did you discover?

I wouldn't even try storing multiple iTunes libraries on SD cards. Better idea - what I do - is store the majority of my music on an external hard drive and just my 'must have' tunes on my internal SSD. I have a 512GB SSD and use around 170GB for iTunes. On my external drive, I had about 440GB in tunes (last time I checked).
You can 'switch' libraries by holding down the option key when you launch iTunes. It's the best of both worlds - storage for on-the-go, must-haves, and an entire library of "all" of my music.
256GB should be plenty of space - I just store so much music on my internal SSD because I can!

  • Mouse 4 and marks - pros and cons with Mavericks

    Hello,
I'm pretty new to mac but have had computers for many many years. However I've bought the latest iMac maxed out.
    Pros and cons:
Pros: It's an Apple product. It great really and I love it. The only wonder I have is why they made the computer thinner and didn't install a true desktop graphic card in there. I guess it's because they don't want people to buy that computer instead of Mac Pro.
    Cons:
    1. I've been searching for a way for go back in a browser faster without trackpad/magicmouse. There is only thirdparty programs that I have to pay for that support Mouse 4, for example. Still don't understand why Apple have chosen not to support this. Atleast allow me to just drag the window like we do on the iPhone. Right now I have to either click the back button or right click and chose "Back".
    2. When I'm in my Videos folder or any type of folder really. Let's say I have a folder with 10 movies in it. I open one, watch it and then close the player. I then can't see which video I just watched. The only way to see this is either to remember the videoname or open all videos again until I find it. In Windows, the video/file will be marked so I know which file I just watched.
    3. iCloud service are very nice, but still a little hard to understand how it works. If I transfer all my pictures from my iPhone to my iMac using iCloud and then delete them all from my phone. Will they disappear on my Mac too? Since the systems are synced?

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • HT204053 What are the pros and cons of 1) choosing to use the SAME Apple ID for iCloud services on one side, and purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore, on the other side; or 2) to have and use two separate Apple Ids for these "two sides

All is in the title, so I repeat it below with a better identation.
What are the pros and cons of
    1) choosing to use the SAME
Apple ID for iCloud services on one side, and
purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore, on the other side; or
    2) to have and use two separate Apple Ids for these "two sides"?
    P.S.
I have loads and loads of free podcasts in iTunes in my iMac, that are certainly more thant the 5 gigas the iCloud provides for free, so I don't want those to go to the cloud. But this is perhaps a different question...
Also need to mention that I have itunes on a mac, a pc and an iphone.
Sorry to look so silly with this question, but I don't get the "big picture".

You need to create a user account for your wife (or yourself depending on who has the current user account). When syncing, each of you should sign in as a separate user, login to iTunes and then sync. I had this problem when my sister got an iPhone. When we did her initial sync, everything on my iPhone showed up on hers. Apple gave me this solution.
