Protect Locks Up

I have just upgraded the Blackberry Protect on my 9790. It asked me to accept the license agreement. When I opened it it showed me the license agreement. It will not scroll down to allow it to be accepted. This means that the program will not allow use.
It was working correctly till the upgrade.

Try this: Main Menu - select set up icon ( this looks like a phone with a cog. If you have hidden some icons, you may need to select show all). Now, select Fonts and select a very small font. Save . Now try Blackberry Protect once again. There are other ways to change font size but you must do it this way. Obviously, you will wish to reselect a larger font size after you finish. Good luck.

Password Protected Locked Layer?

As a photographer, we are very protective of our creations. I have an image that I took for a client, that needs some Photoshop clean-up work, that will probably take me 15~30 minutes to complete, and I plan on billing my client for my labor. However, when I mentioned this work to my client, they told me that they can't afford my price (which isn't that much), and that they'd like to have a family member who is a "Photoshop expert" do the work, instead of me, and then give me the image, so that I can send it to my lab for printing. I can't imagine having the image out of my control, where it could be printed by them, posted to Facebook or shared with others, so this option really doesn't sit very well with me!
I like to do what I can to make my clients happy, but may not be able to in this instance. However, what I was thinking, although I believe that I already know the answer, is adding a password protected, locked layer with my low opacity watermark over the image. Unfortunately, I can't think of anyway to achieve this password protecting of a layer. Sure I can lock a layer, but it can be turned off at will.
Can any one out there think of any other options or solutions, that will allow me to give my image to a client, and ensure that my watermark/copyright remain visible on the image during the entire time that they're editing it?

We're only left to addressing the foolishness of the shoot as there is nothing that can further be said about a ridiculous hope of software. Do we recognize the silliness in supposing that you could supply a file that is both editable and not editable?
Adobe already offers some security options in PDF files (preventing copying, printing, editing, opening, etc), which are easily defeated. Hold your breath to wait for this stunningly ineffective technology to make it to other Adobe apps.
As this is such an issue for you, it may be time to reevaluate the business model of prints as a significant portion of your service. Home computers and Walmart's in-store photo printer have replaced most of your service, even if you forced the client to sign a piece of paper vowing not to duplicate. Photographers really need to focus on and charge appropriately for the craft of photography (like employing guards on windy, rainy days) and not try to be intellectual property managers for an end product that they really cannot control anymore.
You can enter feature requests here and then wait a year or so for the release cycle. How soon does your client need prints?

Security : Protecting/Locking an External HDD

Hi, I realise this is probably the wrong category for this question but couldnt find an appropriate one.
Does anyone out there have an idea/suggestion of how I could protect contect on an external HDD?
Anyone can just plug it into their mac/pc and read it.
Is there a way I can 'lock' it with a password, wether it's the whole drive or just a folder.
This would be a great help.

Hi, Right Click on the HD icon ->Get Info -> then at the bottom of the open window you can select who has permission to read/write also ENSURE you Uncheck the Ignore Ownership box..

Protecting/Locking cells

I use excel to make forms. I like to lock a cell that has a descriptive so that the user can just tab thru to to cells that require their imput. I am thrilled with all the customization Numbers will give me for the look of the these forms. But I can not find anything in the documentaion about locking cells or protecting the sheet. Does anyone one know if this exists? I would love to put Excel away (as I have with Wrok) and use Numbers instead.

VI Properties:Protection:Locked does not persist

I set a top level vi to VI Propertiesrotection:Locked and it behaves as I expect (the window appears similar to Operate:Change to run mode). I save the VI and then close it. When I reopen the VI, it is in edit mode, not locked as I desire. I can set Options:Environmentpen VIs in run mode, but that changes the environment for all vi's; I only want this one VI to be protected. Is this a defect, or am I missing something?

This behavior was reported to R&D (CAR# 128657) and fixed in LabVIEW 8.6.1. The work around for locking a VI in LabVIEW 8.6 is to save the VI with password.
Saving the password may have appeared to not function for you because LabVIEW caches passwords after you apply or enter them on a development machine. LabVIEW will remember passwords in the cache until you clear the password cache either by exiting LabVIEW or manually clearing the cache in the LabVIEW opt...

Protecting/Locking Documents

Is there perhaps a way to password protect a document from prying eyes? Or even protecting the folder the document is in even? Any help would be hot.

Why not take care of what we are urged to do ?

Protecting/Locking Pages documents on 10.5.8

I'm trying to put a password on a few pages documents using the 10.5.8 operating system. I realize it's sort of out of date, so that could be the problem. But i've been watching some videos that say to click on inspector, then the blank page, and then check the box that says 'require a password.' Only thing is that I don't see that box to check at the bottom of inspector.
Is there any other ways to do this?

The encrypted Disk Image is the safest way..

I know how to simply lock a folder or file so it can't be altered or deleted, by selecting 'Locked' in the file or folder's information box. But is it possible to lock a folder or file so it requires a password to be accessed, without having to use a third-party program? A simple OS X password protected locking feature.

The only built-in way you can do this is by creating an encrypted disk image from the folder using Disk Utiility. When you create the image, make sure you select type "encrypted", and when you first enter the password, make sure not to select "save password in keychain". And test opening the image with the password before you delete the original folder, just in case.

Lock / Protect Tracks Button?

Hi everyone. I have a few tracks with the "lock" button selected, and I noticed if I try to change something on the track/regions in the tracks via a command (for example, change the region color so regions colors match tracks, or change the NAME of the regions to match the tracks names, etc.) I get a dialog box that the track is protected/locked and no changes can be made, with a CANCEL button. I hit CANCEL, and the CHANGES HAPPEN ANYWAY! What's the deal with this button, does it only work on/prevent certain commands? Let me know, thanks

I experienced the same strange behaviour.
I would call this a bug or a not well implemented feature.

TNS-12535 Error on Windows with Norton Worm Protection

Hope this mail can help another users installing oracle 10G with Windows and Norton Antivirus with Internet Worm protection enabled; having the error TNS-12535
I try to install Oracle 10G v1 and v2 on Windows XP SP2 with Internet Worm Protection enabled (for several hours I didn´t realize that the problem was that). Have problems with listener and my IP address or host; it resolved in first instance changing the configuration to localhost or 127.0.0.1; but I can't receive client connections. And after a few traces and less hair; discover that Norton Internet Worm Protection locks Oracle 1521 port; just reconfigured it and works fine.
If you look in Norton Log Viewer you will see something like this
Details: No logged in account. The present default action is to "block" communications.
Inbound TCP connection.
Local address,service is (HOST_NAME(IP_ADDRESS),1521).
Remote address,service is (HOST_NAME(IP_ADDRESS),1219).
Process name is "X:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1\BIN\TNSLSNR.exe".

Regading provision of protection to VI while converting from 8.6 to 8.2

I am facing the following problem:
I need to convert VI which is in LAB VIEW 8.6 to 8.2 as a read only VI for that
1). I selected the option from the Path " File >> VI Properties >> Protection >> Locked (no password)" i.e second option of Protection menu from Category menu of VI properties .
2).I selected File >> Save for Previous Version >> 8.2 and closed the VI
If i am trying to reopen the same VI it is opening as unprotected file only...i.e default it is selecting as Unlocked option in Protection menu irrespective of our selection...
Can U Please help me regarding the above problem

How can I lock the screen on RMBP allowing applications to work.

I'm using my RMBP at work, when I go off to get lunch or any other time I'm out of my office for several minutes I want to be able to lock my screen. I want downloads in the background, or renderings to keep working while it's locked, but the only thing I've been able to find is to shut the lid, which puts it to sleep...
Control, Shift, Power turns the screen off, but any press of a key wakes it back up. I'm assuming I'd have to pass code lock the computer (I don't want to have to key in the pass code every time I open the lid, but I understand if I did)... how can I make it go to a password protected lock screen with out going to sleep.
In windows its very easy, window key + L, lock screen. Can I duplicate this functionality on a Mac?

Open system preferences and go to "Desktop & Screen Saver"
Select the "Screen Saver" tab, select a screen saver and then select the "Hot Corners..." button. You will be able to set hot corners that will start the saver when you move the mouse cursor to that location.
After you have setup the screen saver, got back to the system preferences top menu and select "Security & Privacy". You can change the setting to require your password to unlock the screen after the screen saver starts.

Protecting file/folder names/labels

Anyone know of a way to protect, lock or "freeze" file/folder names/labels without locking the associated file or folder?

You cannot do that without changing certain permissions on the files. You can remove write permissions on the files, but then you wouldn't be able to make any changes to them, if you needed to, without restoring write permissions.
Perhaps if you tell us why you've asked about this we could offer some additional ideas, if any.

Off Line Adobe Form has to be Locked

Hi Gurus,
I have a requirement in Off Line Adobe Forms.
We are sending a Adobe Form to user through mail.User is trying to edit some data by using Acrobat Writer. So client is asking to put a restriction/protect/Lock to the Form.So that user can't edit anything.
I don't want to use password Protect method.
I want to use this syntax,but not sure as I don't have Acrobat Writer : form.sf1.access = "protected"; // or use readOnly.
Please suggest me as this is very urgent.

Page is nothing but a subform. like u hide a subform on a page. you can also hide the page itself by using the presence property.
instead of hiding the individual subforms. hide the page as complete.
