Protected Items

I have an N73. My son made a ringtone (midi) on his Sony Ericsson K750i and bluetoothed it to me. I wanted to pass it on to a friend but I find I cant as its now a "protected item". Can someone explain why because there are no copyright issues here that I can think of.

There are no real copyright issues with user-generated content (well, technically, your son owns the copyright to the content and can determine how you can use it).
Unfortunately, however, Nokia phones have a fixed list ( so called, "Closed Content List" ) of file types that the phones refuse to send/forward. MIDI files are on that list.

but there are no answers to this problem.
Any thoughts how to solve this and what is causing it??

I used to receive the same error because I was trying to update the value of the hidden and protected item on the same page repeatedly.
I changed the item type to hidden to avoid the error.

Hi,
I created an icon which is called 'Find an employee'. When a clicked on that icon, it shows employee id and employee name. And near these names there is a select button. But, it gives the following error:

I have a region with 3 items - a Text field, a Text area and a Hidden and Protected item. When clicking on the save button the record should be written to the table. However I get the following error:

When I change the hidden and protected field to a regular text field I am able to successfully process the page.
Do I have to do anything different when I have a hidden and protected field? Would appreciate any suggestions/comments to help resolve this issue.

If you have client-side code that changes the value of a "Hidden and Protected" item after the item/value has been emitted to the page by Application Express, you need to change the item type to Hidden, instead.

Password protect items in Library?

Is it possible to password protect items you have purchased in your library? I can see where I can block explicit material from the store, but I would like to block or password protect items I purchased so my kids can't see or have access to certain songs that are not appropriate for a young child.

There is no separate passwording for iTunes. So, just open a separate user account in Vista, with non-administrative privileges, and create an iTunes library there for your kids.

Solved: checksum error for hidden and protected item ID

hi all,
I have 3 tabs namely search,create and reports.
when i move from
search to create ----> works fine
search to reports----> works fine
create to reports ---> works fine
create to search ---> works fine
but after comming to reports tab when i click to any of the tabs
error occurrs as follows

Please could any guide me to rectify this error?
Note: This error happened after i copied a report from the create page to the report page. and that report page is having an hidden item.

Hi,
The problem is when you are creating an item "Hidden and protected" so apex will associate a checksum value for that item's value and as you are changing the value, the checksum will not changed.
If there is no security issue use "Hidden" instead of "Hidden and protected" for that item.

Can't transfer DRM protected items

When I first downloaded Adobe Digital Editions to my computer, I did not select to transfer DRM protected items to another device. Now my computer is authorised without an I.D. Although I subsequently created an Adobe ID, I can not authorise my computer to transfer DRM protected files to another device. When I try to do this, I get the following message "Acivation Servor Error" "Code E_AUTH_NOT_READY". How do I solve this problem?

Write-protect Item as sample

Hi
I'd like to write protect some Items that I have created as sample for different types of items with different settings.
This makes it easy for users to create new items because they can use the sample and make a copy of it and most of the settings com along from the sample.
Is there way to write-protect items?

Basically works, except that it does not detect changes to the ItemCode itself.

Write protecting Item

I am having the following code in SP_TN that successfully protects changing Items that are used as sample Items and base to duplicate from.
It only can not detect changing of the ItemCode itself.

This sounds like a very good idea.
I tried to put that into some SQL ... I seem not to to be able do it right.
Do I have to explicitly use the ItemCodes like 'Template1' in the SP_TN?
I don't get how to check for the QryGroup64 only, without link to the newly created itemcode.
Could you please assist with these lines?

Hidden items in apex 4 now hidden and proteced

Hi all,
The option hidden and proteced is no longer available in Apex 4. Now a hidden item is automatically hidden and proteced.
This gives me problems with my app.
I created a page with a menu.
When I click on the menu my page gets filled with content.
I do this with a text item.
In this text item I fill the content id. When I click on the menu a javascipt fills the text item with the correct content id.
The content region reads the content id and the content gets displayed.
Now if I set the text field as hidden, the page gives me an error

Any suggestions?

There's a type of "Hidden" and a separate place under "settings" for "Protected" and you answer Yes or No from the select-list.
Does this not work for you?

Get item value of hidden item in java script on standard report

I've a report with following query:

"GTEMPDETAILID",

from "#OWNER#"."ALAVIS_GTEMPDETAILS"
Item GTEMPDETAILID is hidden (set in column attributes).
I defined an onclick event in the report template to set the value of GTEMPDETAILID into a Page item. This works, if the GTEMPDETAILID is not hidden. But how can I get the value of an hidden item in javascript?

I am guessing this hidden value is not a protected item because youre manipulating the value. How about setting is a textfield but inside the "HTML form element" property, specify style="display:none;" or you can nest <script type="text/javascript">$x_Hide("ID_OF_TEXTFIELD");</script> in the page somewhere...
Question, have you tried using $x_Value('ID_OF_ITEM','VALUE_OF_ITEM') ? this is APEX javascript API
you can also use $x('ID_OF_ITEM') to retrieve DOM object, or $v('ID_OF_ITEM); to retrieve item values.

Page protection violation Error

Hi guys,
I have two tabs in a tabset and when I try to click second tab from first tab it gives below exception.
"Page protection violation: This may be caused by manual alteration of protected page items. "
As the exception said I change an item value on page1 from page2 by using link-> f?p=10:1:690313625705501::::P1_SELECTED_OBJ:OBJ_VALUE (P1_SELECTED_OBJ is the item on page 1)
How can I fix this problem , do you have any idea? I found some topics related with same error but they are related with upgrade of Apex.

This might be because you are changing the protected items value using JavaScript.
You can edit the apex item > set the protected to No

Protect from Auto Clean limit

On new vision.
There appears to a limit on how many recordings you can protect from auto clean.
Anyone know whether this is a (disc) size limit or a number of files limit and if so what it is set to ?

Page item values lost when moving application from 3.1.1 to 4.0.2

I have an application that is working fine in version 3.1.1, but when I move it to 4.0.2, I'm having some issues with losing page item values. I have a page (6) with master key fields that are used to set page items on another page (7) when I branch to that page. In 3.1.1 the items in the page I'm going to are defined as 'Hidden and Protected' and in 4.0.2 they are defined as 'Hidden' (don't see a 'hidden and protected type'). When page 7 first displays, I see the values I passed in the session items. When I fill in the displayed items on the form and click to create a record, I get errors that the key values are null (these are the items I set when I branched to this page). When I look in the session items now, the values are missing. Why are the values lost and is there a work around?

In 4.0.2 there is no hidden & protected item but instead you have one select called "value protected" you can select yes or no there.
Edit your item and See the "Source" region of your item, in the "Source used" it should be "current value in session state is null" and in "Source type" should be "static assignment..........".
In the "Default" region the value type should be "static text ......."
see if there is any changes in these properties.
