Hey guys, i just bought my ipod today and i'm trying to upload a cd i have to the ipod. its stabilo's happiness and disaster. it has copy protected stuff on it (which is fine) but when i try to convert it with itunes (its a wma file) it refuses to let me. i then do as it tells me to for protected music and it still wont convert it. any help? this is one of my favorite cds and i REALLY dont want to buy it online when i already have the real copy... thanks.

It is copy protected. Not much you can do.

Won't quit, won't register protected music accounts

This is a two part question. First off, for whatever reason my iTunes will not quit unless I force quit it. It may be related to why my other issue is happening.
The second problem.   I used to have all my protected music at smart.net, and smart.net folded and eventually got taken over by another company, and I moved everything to macmaps.com* before the folding happened, and registered my protected music to macmaps.com afterwards. I've been having an e-mail conversation with Apple regarding this, and they suggested among other things to delete my /Users/Shared/SC folder, and there is none!
They also said:
"I have also deauthorized all computers associated to your account ....macmaps.com.   Once you’ve removed the SC folder from your computer, please double-click the song once more, and it should display the authorization window."
When I double click protected music with the smart.net attached info, or macmaps.com account info from iTunes it only plays the music.   It makes no effort to give me an authorization window. Any idea why not? I'm running iTunes 11.1. The rest of the info on my Etrecheck may help you diagnose the issue below. Only some of my smart.net music syncs with my iOS 5.1.1 iPad Rev 1 when I sync all music. And it isn't a space issue either. It was this lack of syncing that got me to recognize something was wrong with my iTunes in the first place and contact Apple.
My EtreCheck says the following is happening.    I tried using TVMobili's uninstallation directions, and it says it can't find it.   So I don't know what else may be to blame for my iTunes failures.

iTunes 11.1 ? They didn't give you the routine, "Make sure you are running the newest iTunes" first? (Not that I pay any attention to that, still running iTunes 7.5.)
I can't really answer your questions. I don't see how these server sites really factor into it or how you can even have a file authorized to a server. As far as I am aware it's the computer used to play the music that's authorized.

Problem playing DRM-protected music on MuVu TX

All of my protected music (purchased through either walmart or msn music) gets skipped over when read by the player. however, when it is connected via the usb, they will play just fine (through wmp0) it was my understanding that the TX FM and both of these stores are PFS compatible? Any insight on why these won't play for me?
Also, I'm getting frustrated to the point that i'm consideriing burning all of these DRM tracks to cd and then ripping them back to my hard dri've. Since i bought them fair and square, it's cool to do this right?:smileyindifferent:
Unless anybody can tell me how to get them to play...
and oh yeah, they were originally transferred through mediasource, not dragged and dropped in explorer, so that's not the issue

Can iTunes Import Nokia DRM Protected Music Files

I have 10000s of downloads from Nokia's Comes With Music / Ovi Music Unlimited. Ignoring the issues over the 25k limit, these are DRM protected downloads runnable from Nokia phones and any computer I nominate with a 90 day period before allowing a reswitch. Will iTunes Match recognise the Nokia DRM protected music files and give me a DRM free product at a higher bitrate?

You won't be able to match non-Apple DRM downloads - you'd have to find a way to strip the DRM off first. For example, Rhapsody had recommended ripping their protected DRM files by burning to CD (as well as Yahoo! Music and Walmart) so that way the DRM layer would be removed at the expense of sound quality. I'm not sure how this service works but iTunes probably won't be able to import them as-is.
You probably don't even need to subscribe to iTM to test this - just install iTunes and try to import the files - if you can't import them into iTunes, then iTM definitely won't work.

By the way, I have tried shutting of the display switching in the power settings. That was basically the only real answer I found anywhere. It didn't work.

Can I use a DRM-Protected Music video in my IDVD project.

Can I download a DRM protected music video to a IDVD project and burn a DVD. The music video is not showing up in the media window in IDVD. Only ITunes Plus songs and videos, make it to the media window. I can't drag the video directly off ITunes. They say, I can burn a up to seven copy's of the DMR protected video/music, but how.. Didn't work, Window came up saying "Could not be converted because protected files cannot be converted to other formats. I was able to burn it to a DVD, it came up as a MPEG 4 file. Then I first went to the ITunes tool bar Preference>Advanced>importing>importing using>Aiff Encoder. Then tool bar again File> import. Music video imported another copy to ITunes library. Right mouse clicked second copy> convert selection to Aiff. Then "Could not convert" window came up.

Your computer needs to be authorized with the "old" Apple ID. Pull done Store > Authorize... And type the credentials when prompted.

Lecture of protected music on Creative MuVo

I submit the following problem :
I have transferred on my Creative MuVo TX Go protected music whose I have the license and I can listen on my computer. But the player didn't read them : he directly passes to non-protected files. I have checked : all my files are .wma, then the problem doesn't come from it. I don't understand given that I can perfectly play this music with Creative Media Source from my player when he is connected to my PC.
Anybody has a solution? How can I "make understand" to my player I have the license of this music? Of course I am going to give you precisions if necessary.

How do I transfer "protected" music from musicmatch

I have several songs that I purchased on musicmatch (now stored on yahoo jukebox). When I try to import them to itunes, i get the track "protected" music and am unable to transfer. But I bought these tracks, so shouldn't I be able to transfer them?

The DRM has to be removed for iTunes to play the tracks. Use the other software to burn an audio CD of the music then import the music into iTunes. In general this methods works for most DRM protected content.

Burning protected music to dvd

i just made a slideshow in iphoto, and included music i bought from the itunes music store. when i went to the share drop down menu and clicked on "send to idvd", i got a message saying "please note that the music included in this slideshow can only be played on authorized machines"....does this mean my dvd will not play on my TV? how will that work?

Yes a DVD made using protected music will play on anything as the file on the DVD is just an audio version and is no longer protected.
Just the same as when you burn a CD in iTunes the CD can be played on anything as the track is no longer protected.

Is there a way I can convert all my old purchased "protected" iTunes to the non-DRM format? I have a several songs and albums from a few years ago that still show "kind" as protected. I read somewhere that if I upgrade to iTunes Plus that it will then allow me to pay 30cents a song to chage over all the music I bought on iTunes. I cannot find anywhere in the iTunes Store to do that. All my protected music shows that I am the person who purchased all the music. Can someone please help me with this? Thanks

Thanks for your reply but there in nothing on that page that allows me to pay anything. All that page gives me is a short message at the top of an otherwise blank page that says I have successfully upgraded to iTunes Plus. I still have about 500 "Protected AAC Audio files" still in my iTunes.

Yes, the upgrade program ended a few months ago.
If it is just a few tracks, you still have the option of using iTunes to burn your DRM tracks to an audio CD, which will be a normal audio CD that can be ripped like any audio CD.
If you have a lot of tracks, itmay be worthwhile to sign up for iTunes Match for $24.99, which will allow you to replace eligible tracks with iTunes Store current (i.e. non-DRM) copies.

How do I batch delete all my protected music files from iTunes.

Hi, in a moment of stupidity, while I was working on a backup folder of my friends files (from his broken computer - copied them to my PC so he could get them back onto his new PC) I managed to copy all of his songs from his iTunes folder into my iTunes library. I don't know how I managed to do this, maybe it was the fact that I was really tired at the time.
I own all my music - none of my music is copy protected (it is either downloaded from legal sites where the bands themselves [usually unknown or alternative artists] release their music, or I ripped the music from CD's I bought) and all of his music is copy protected.
Now thing is, I have upgraded my PC before realising I did this, so now I don't have the original iTunes library (formatted PC and reinstalled XP from scratch) - is there any tools out there that will find and delete all your copy protected files from iTunes?
I could go through song by song and when it comes up with the "Authorise computer - This computer is not authorised to play "******" Would you like to authorise it" and delete those songs, but as this is a very slow and time consuming process and considering I have 8,551 songs, I would prefer a faster way.
I would go and re-rip all the songs, as I have the original discs, but this would take very long, and put quite a bit of strain on my CD drive, and this would not account for all the songs I have spent years finding on the internet/demo songs from friends bands.
Any help is appreciated, as I would love to be able to remove all of his songs so they don't keep popping up in my iTunes library

I have never tried this and am not at a computer with iTunes, but can you delete from a Smart Playlist? If so, you could make a smart playlist that shows songs that are of kind Protected ACC. Then select all and delete from that playlist. But I am not so sure if you can delete from a smart playlist.

Family Sharing music issue

I have an iPhone 6 and a Macbook Pro that are both updated to the latest software versions. I have family sharing turned on on both and have been able to successful download some music on both devices. There are many songs that I try and download though that are not successful. On my iPhone it just says its unable to download at this time, on my mac it acts like it downloaded and then when I go to play the song it tells me that the computer is not authorized and the box to authorize pops up. This only happens with certain songs other songs play just fine and my computer has been authorized with my apple id forever. Please Help!

I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact configuration you are describing. Family Sharing is normally used to share content between different accounts from multiple people in the same family. Is the content you are having issues downloading or playing content that was purchased by a different member of your Family Group?
