Protecting certain tasks

Hi Experts,
I was wondering if some funtionality existed to protect certain tasks in a project. That is, even when the user is authorized to create/delete tasks there are some that are protected so he cannot delete...
Do you know if something similar exists in PS standard?
Other option could be enabling marking some tasks (with an icon or something similar) to indicate that those are basic tasks to a project. Anything on this?

You've kind of answered your own question. Only files that are intended to be externally accessible should be externally accessible. Just don't make those files available on your public-facing website.
Set up a different website which is only accessible from inside your network and do you admin tasks from there.

Sorry, but it is not possible to restrict use of specific apps other that the few restrictions provided in the Restrictions settings, not unless the app itself provides some sort of lock. If you don't want your child playing certain games, the only answer is to not load them on the iPad he uses.

Does anyone know if it's possible to password protect all pages bar your homepage? I'd like to be able to do this whilst I'm trying to update my site but still wanted visitors to be able to access my home page.

You can password protect certain pages only with iTweak.
As stated by Wyodor , you also need to take a look at your host.
The most common way is to protect by .htaccess if supported by your host
Take a look at the tutorial of iTweak for password protect.

How can I open a program using Java and then perform certain tasks with it?

For example, and this is just an example, I want to write a Java program that opens MS Paint and then manipulates that program. This can be useful to automate certain tasks.
My question is whether this can be done writing Java code and if so how? If not possible, would I need to use a scripting language instead?

1. If you want to open (run) the program and then shut (kill) it down it is possible and fairly trivial to do in java. Look up Runtime and Process classes in java.lang package
2. If you want to open the program and edit some image/document in the opened program. It is very difficult in java. May be possible... using some Java/COM bridge, assuming your native program is COM/Active-x compliant. Note: these things go beyond the boundary of JVM and needs to interact with host OS and involves shared memory, ipc and all "low level" stuffs.
If you want to be able to play around with these COM/Activex apps- choose .NET instead :-)
3) You can open the program from java and pass it some command line arg as in (1) above and then the program will load that document/image at startup automatically. You may then edit the doc/image thru that program itself. However, Java is not doing anything for you here, other than just starting off your native mspaint.exe ot notepad.exe.

Using Touch ID to protect certain apps possible already?

I was wondering if it's possible already (maybe through some app) to protect certain apps with Touch ID? I'd like to protect for instance the default Mail app with Touch ID. Anyone knows if this is possible already or if this will be possible in the future?

DHCP NAP can be used to modify the routing table, so you could limit access to an IP address, but you can't use it to limit access to specific ports (i.e. web services on 80 and 443). This requires a firewall or ACL.
I think that for what you want you will need to configure an extended ACL on the switch.
Please read the link I gave above (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn425037.aspx). This shows how to assign specific IP addresses to certain types of client devices. You can
then use the ACL on the switch, or a firewall, to filter access based on source IP address.
You might also went to spend time making a list of all the devices on your network, including the type of network access (wired, wireless, or both) they have, and the users (staff, student, other) that have these devices. If possible, group the devices into
2 or 3 basic groups and decide what kind of network resources they should have access to.
If you want to filter based on user group, you will need to implement some kind of authentication method, such as 802.1X with PEAP/MSCHAP v2 or PEAP/TLS. If you don't understand these methods yet and haven't been using 802.1X you should spend some
time reading about it.

HT3819 Can you password protect certain items to NOT share?

Are you able to password protect certain items in the home sharing part of iTunes.
For example - if there are age restricted movies that you would like to view on other apple TV's but only accessable with a Password.

No way I know of. The only way I'm aware of to protect content is to either set age limits in the parental controls or purchase such content via a different iTunes Store account and not set that account up for home sharing.

UWL Hide Certain Tasks

Is there a way to hide certain tasks so they do not display in the UWL. I reviewed the UWL config guide and sap help online but could not find any properties that hides a specific task.

Hide Certain Task Types in UWL

Hi,
We have a situation where we have two portals pointing at the same backend ECC 5 system. One portal is used by core HR users and the other by ESS / MSS users.
One of the issues we have is that when the core users log into the ESS portal, they see all of their core tasks as well as their ess / mss ones.
Does anyone know of a way of hiding certain task types or suggest another way around this.

You need to customize the item types that you dont want displayed in each UWL.
Customizing UWL help is available at:

Process flow is: Enable debug on UWL>Determine Item Types you dont want> download associated UWL>Create custom UWL (based on the items types you want to remove)>Upload UWL and clear UWL cache.

Password Protect OSD Task Sequence

I have been working at implementing an HTA file to password protect my SCCM 2012 R2 task sequences as discussed
here and various places throughout the web. I a looking for some clarification why the "Use Toolkit Package" is needed in the task sequence before the .WSF script (below) can run? I assume it is because it is calling the ZTIutility.vbs script
which is part of MDT, but I don't understand what is actually happening. Could someone explain?

Mac Pro Freezes when performing certain Tasks?

My Mac pro has been freezing recently which requires me to hard boot and I'm not quite sure whats going on. Let me go a bit more into detail.
Now when I say freeze, I don't mean beach balling, I mean literally the entire screen is motionless and I must hard reboot. Its odd really, the computer only freezing when doing certain tasks, such as when I render 3D graphics with Cinema4D, or whenever I play certain games on steam.
I have recently installed windows as a partition for bootcamp, but I don't believe that is the issue. I have experienced the freezes while running my machine in both Windows and Mac.
Its important to note that when booting my Mac in SAFEMODE, the freezing does not occur while performing the same tasks. So this leads me to believe there is a process going on thats causing the computer to freeze up?
What I think I have managed to rule out as problems:
- Not a Hard Drive failing issue, I booted from my backup hard drive and the freezing still occurs.
- Not a Heat issue, I've installed iStat and my top temperature barely raises to 60 degrees celsius when freezing occurs.
- Not an issue with the Windows partition, as I booted from my backup drive that is without the partition and the freezes still occur.
- Not a Ram issue, I took my ram cards out and swapped them around.
One other things... Not sure if this is relevant, but upon one of the freezes, I rebooted and got this on my startup screen, It was bizaar and it froze here as well. This only occured once but I snapped a photo of it.
Any ideas? Could it be a graphics card issue?

That panic was not caused by third-party software. If it's a recurring problem, the remaining possibilities are (1) a damaged Mac OS installation; (2) a hardware fault, which could be internal or in a wired peripheral device; and (3) an obscure bug in the Mac OS.
You can rule out the first possibility by reinstalling the Mac OS. Probably there will be no change. In that case, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros (do this only if you know how to restore, and you have at least two independent backups.) Don’t erase the Lion recovery partition, if present.

I have a Airport Extreme with a 1TB external HD connected to it. How can I password protect certain files?

I have a Airport Extreme with a 1TB external HD connected to it. I have it set up so my Macbook Pro and PC's in the house can access it. i have some files that i would like to protect(sensitive personal info.). Is there a way that can be done where as certain folders are password protected? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Would a good workaround be to use disk utility to set up a password protected sparse image, of course being connected directly to the Mac, then connect the drive to the Airport Extreme?
Then, couldn't one use that drive and protected files as normal on the airport? It would just require one extra step of using a Mac to set things up first.
I disconnected my Airport so cannot check it out for myself.

SMARTFORMS: Protect certain area ...

Problem:
I want to protect a certain aerea of the form, which
includes windows, boxes etc..
It should be printed after the main-window is finished
(Property I have set and works fine).
BUT the protected area should only be printed,
if all the items will fit onto the rest of the page.
If not, a page-break should be processed.
Is there a similar command like <PROTECT: ENDPROTECT:>
in SF?

I also find same problem with you, Michael, but now I found the better solution that is,
1) You should separate to several windows.
2) Lets say you just want to display 'TOTAL' at the last page after the last items in main window, you can define total at the independent window, double click this window > under 'condition" tab > you can see the box named "additional event" -> tick "only after end of main window"
3) Then now you can see those window only at the very last page after last item in main window.
p/s you can define several windows that you only want to print at the very last page (after last item in main window) using same steps above.
It works well same as commands:-
<i>If &nextpage& = 0</i> in Sapscripts

FM errors for certain tasks after restoring application

Hi All,
We had to move our Oracle database to a new server due to memory issues.
We took an export of the HFM tablespace and restored in into the newly created tablespace.
The HFM app works fine except for some features:
1 - Under Workspaces, when opening a document we get: "The specified security call does not exist. Error reference number: {AE3F0A36-427D-407B-...};Username: admin@native Directory <BR>Num: 0x8004021c etc...
2 - Under Tasks\Administration\ Task Audit we get: The User ID was not found.
All other features appear to work correctly. We are on System 9.2.
Does anyone know why only certain features dont seem to work? I have tried re-registering the app to no avail.

Sounds like some things gone wrong/out of sync with your HSV_Activity tables.
One possibility in the case of Task Audit Error:
The appname_TASK_AUDIT table contains the field ActivityUserID. When you call the Audit Log the ActivityUserID is matched to the user name in the HSV_ACTIVITY_USERS table, If there are IDs existing in the Audit log that do not match or have changed in the USERS table then you will get a similar error. So If the old db does not get the same problem maybe a check of the tables contents would be in order.
So I would start by generating the error User ID was not found and clicking on more details, that will probably give you the userid that has the problem. Then you could check the Audit log and match the user ID thats displayed in the error message to the user id that is listed in the HSV_ACTIVITY_USERS table.
The Workspace error is probably related.
Depending on what you find you may need to check all your moved tables are valid and that all data was moved.
