Protecting files and fonts
I accidently deleted a font from the font book. Luckily I don't use it. How can I get a prompt or confirmation before deleting anything. I liked to be asked "are you sure you want to do this."
Two things:
1) when you delete from font book your font is actually just moved to the trash, you can restore it by opening the trash and then dragging the font back in to font book (in the Computer" collection
2) To restore the warning about deleting fonts, quit Fontbook then in the finder, press shift-apple-G (or "Go TO Folder" in the "Go" menu) and go to:
~/Library/Preferences/
In there you will find your FontBook preferences file:
com.apple.FontBook.plist
delete that, start up FontBook again and you will have your warnings back.
avoid clicking on the "Don not ask me again" checkbox

What can I do to fix the Home, Files and Fonts tabs in the CC app?
Each of the aforementioned tabs shows a blue spinner forever upon selecting it. I've been accepted into the prerelease program for Files and Fonts, so I'd understand a bug there, but it seems like Home should be displaying.
I've done everything described here:

CC 1.1.2.232Andy if you have tried the steps listed in "Unknown Server Error" when you attempt to log in to Adobe Creative Cloud - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/unknown-server-error-launching-cc.html then I would recommend creating a new local administrator account to see if the behavior consists. This will help determine if the file permissions have been compromised under your current user account.

Files and font sync turn off working with InDesign..
Hi
Files and font sync turns off when I work with InDesign directly on the CC disctop files folder. It use to be ok to work directly in sync mode, but apparently not any more. I guess the problem is the backup file that InDesign creates, that consist of signs behaps not allowed (?). It use to work for me, but not any more..?
Do anyone els have the same problem?

Thanks for your reply. In the Creative Cloud Help page I get, it says: "Save and close the file when you're done editing it and the error goes away.", but I actually have to reconnect. The bad thing about this is that it turns off the font sync as well when I was working.
I have temporarely solved the problem, simply be changing the name of the file I'm working on. I have tryed to reproduce it with a different name - all with leagal signs according to the page mensioned above - with no success (which is positive). Then I tryed to move the file to a new folder within the folder I was working on, and then it worked without problem. Strange.
I guess, if I run in to the same problem again, I will just try to change the name.

Why can't I turn on File and Font Sync in Creative Cloud?
I'll send an email to that as well but the same issue occurs with file sync. I have this on my personal account but not our CC for teams accounts.
These are what I see when I click those tabs in my Creative Cloud window.
Any help would be appreciated.

Why is Creative Cloud hanging in Home, Files and Fonts?
The Creative Cloud desktop app (Version 1.1.1.220, released on 8/20/2013), running on OS X v10.8.4, hangs completely in its Home, Files, and Fonts sections.
The Apps tab works fine, and I'm able to update existing and install new apps ;
Behance works fine as well ;
In the Settings option,
"View Your Updates & Requests" is unavailable,
"Turn File and Font Sync Off" does nothing when clicked on,
As solutions, I have tried :
Quitting and restarting the desktop app,
Running the "uninstall", and re-installing the desktop app completely,
Signing in and out of my account,
Restarting my entire system after signing out, quitting, and uninstalling,
Nothing I've tried has changed this state of things.
What can I do?So strange ... I brought the Mac back from a full shutdown this morning, and the File and Font Sync were working fine, with no updates or system changes run by me or the Adobe software in the time period between when it was not working, and when it functioned OK. Basically, I did nothing.
I'm happy that it's working as intended, now, though can't provide any intelligent recommendations for others to follow, other than what I did : shut the Mac OS X system off, completely, and leave it that way, unplugged from any network, for many hours, and then cold start it.
For what it's worth, here are some logs of mine, in the hopes that it provides some insight to Adobe Staff.

Get started with file and font sync how do you access the 700 free fonts?
Have you requested and received an email that you're eligible for File and Font Sync early access?
If you have, go to creative.adobe.com and download the latest version Creative Cloud desktop after you log in with your Adobe ID.
Then when installed, you should be able to click on Fonts to browse on the Typekit website. -
Creative Cloud files and fonts sync problem

I'm working on two diffents mac's, one at work and one at home - with a creative cloud membership. On both computers, the Files and Fonts does not connected/sync. Annyway, I can't use the fonts on either of the mashines. The CC app is open, and therefor should work with e.g. the fonts I allready synced to my computer . Apparently I can solve this by quiting the Creative Cloud and restart, but I hope this could be solved somehow.
Anyone have an idea or a way forward?

Just arrived home, and my home computer Creative Cloud connection is not working as it should for Files and Typekit. I'm not getting any error messages - it just doesn't connect i seams. I include some screenshots - but I don't think they will say much. It is as if there is some problem when it is trying to load/connect while other programes are auto loading (I guess?). So I still need help. Here is some screenshots. I can still restart the CC and then it connects as it should. And, I have the same problem on an other mac:

CC is stuck with spinning 'wait' icon - Home, Files and Fonts App tab is ok
Ever since I installed cc I have not had anything but a spinning 'wait' wheel for 'home', 'files' or 'fonts' tabs. The 'Apps' tab is fine and can install and update the applications just fine. I was reading the forum this morning looking for a reason for this. I decided to try and move my 'Files' location under the setting area and chose another directory to see if it would get the 'files' tab working. (I don't have any files in the original so I am not worried about losing any files) Now the CC app is stuck in 'Moving Creative Cloud Files Folder...' mode and I don't have any access to the other tabs at all. I am using Windows 7. I have included a image of what I am seeing. I have tried closing down the app and restarting it but it keeps coming up with the below screen each time. Please help.
Ok, I have fixed the above screen shot dilema and have my CC application working again. Had to kill the process and restart the application. But, I still get the circle icon for the HOME, FILES, and FONTS tabs. BEHANCE tabs seems to be working ok. Here is a shot of that one: Again, the Apps and Behance tabs work fine. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be? I have gone into Preferences/General/Account and signed out and signed back in but it did not change anything.

A day ago, my file and font sync in the Creative Cloud desktop app stoped functioning on two seperate computers saying "file and font syncing is off." I've turned it back on several times, only to have it turn itself off monments later.
I am running OS X 10.9I'm having this issue as well - started about a week or two ago. I don't use the file sync often since I've had more problems with it than it's worth, but I would like to have access to TypeKit font syncing. I followed the steps listed by aaronquigley, but unfortunately have not had any luck getting it up and running again.
The problem only occurs on my Mac (10.8.5) - everything seems to work fine on my Windows 7 machine... -
Password protect files and folders Creative Cloud Files
I know this feature has been requested a number of times, but I'm just wondering if anyone knows whether or not the ability to password protect files and folders for sharing purposes is in the works? It appears to be a glaring omission to me, particularly as Adobe's vision for the Creative Cloud encompasses the corporate world, where security is obviously of great importance.
Any news would be welcome.

It looks like this error is pretty common around here.
Anyway, I've encountered my Cloud Synching freezing up at about 1.35GB worth of actual content. I wouldnt mind uploading more but Im not able because of the Server Error pause. This would be very helpful in the realm of After Effects projects where my footage is bundled into one folder (though there are many sub-folders to keep things organized).
I've tried deleting Preference files and installing/reinstalling with no luck. An Adobe Rep in online chat brought me here and I've checked the list of files that have odd file names and what-not. What gives, Adobe? Are there any other fixes for this and is there anyone out there that can help me work across multiple platforms?Thanks for responding. Here are the errors Im getting.
My file sync went up to 1.35GB and paused. It does not go any further. This isn't particularly helpful since Im using After Effects and we've collected our files on Clouds before without problem for a team of different artists.
I myself am using a Mac system, an older model of a MacBook Pro, using Mavericks (which has it's own issues).
This is happening with the Desktop client. I have tried using the Web Page before but I can only do this manually, one folder at a time and even then, uploads are slow (which would be forgiveable) but still unsuccessful. -
Having a problem with app files and fonts between OS
I work in a prepress department, and we are have issues with files that are coming from 10.4.11 to 10.5.8. The 10.4.11 is a power PC and the 10.5.8 is Intel. Fonts get corrupt and display as a unix file with 0 file size and application files like Quark loose there ID and come up as a document file. I think this has to do with the OS difference. Is there any way that this can be fixed???
Well we are having the the same problem with folders. Jobs that are made on a 10.4 Mac, sometimes you can't see the contents of the folder on a 10.5 Mac. And there is no pattern.
And if you take the contents out of the folder and put it loose using a 10.4 Mac, you can see it on a 10.5 Mac
Also if we put a .dfont on the end to the font using a 10.4 Mac, you can see the font on a 10.5 Mac.
This is all very strange. There are no patterns and no reason why one folder would work and the other does not. Just checking if there is something that could be causing a problem between the OS's. -
Files and fonts disappear when I render
My motion 3 files look fine when I drop them into the FCP timeline but when I render, the fonts disappear and images are just black.
I had a previous problem (never solved) where the rendered file would be green but this would resolve itself when I output through compressor. However this problem remains.
I'm working in DV pal with my original video and the motion files. The motion files are originated in motion and dropped in the timeline.
I can't simply export the motion file as a DV pal file because the same problem occurs.1. Try an alternative font, possible it is corrupt.
2. When you say you can not export the file it implies issue is with Motion and not FCP.
3. Trash motion Pref's

Need protected files and a .pdf proof in InDesign
Im fairly new to InDesign and have just completed an announcement and have it saved. Now, I am wanting to create a .pdf to submit to someone else to look at it, but I dont want them to be able to edit it at all (like a proof). So, does that mean that I need to first "pack" my files, then flatten it, then create the .pdf? Ive never done any of these and I am having a hard time understanding what "flatten" actually is.
I know of people who use Photoshop who flatten their work before providing any .pdf or .jpeg files so that others are not able to modify their work. The other reason I want my work not to be modified is that there are elements in the announcement for which I have purchased from others (they use Photoshop). They have requested that any elements that I have purchased from them be flattened, so that it protects their work (and of course, I want to protect mine as well).
In the mean time, I will continue to search the forums for answers.

Oh and let me just add this info as well...I have 10 layers. FYI: i just read some info about flattening in Photoshop (although Im using ID)...keep everything editiable, do a copy merge, combine elements to keep file size low (so you dont have to flatten) and flatten for transparecies. Yes, I agree with your first statement. Im guessing the elements I am buying are being custom made by the person Im buying from and they want to ensure its not being taken by non buyers. If its not secure, someone could just move the element into a file on their computer and use it anyway they want and not buy it from the party who made it. So it appears that the parties Im buying the elements from seem to believe that flattening their work prevents files from being stolen as they have it written in the TOU's that their work is copyrighted and when I buy an element I get a TOU on how I can use it commercially. Some sellers are picky on how you can use their work..and I must use the purchased element in a new creation as part of my work and flatten it before I distribute it.
Thanks for the information. Unfortunately, I would not ever see any clients face to face as they'd purchse my announcements online. For the most part, purchasers of my work would be consumers who know nothing about ID, so I could trust that they would not be able to edit my files. However, there could be others who do know how to use such publishing software....either clients or those who also make announcements as well. -

Is there any way to password protect a folder? I'd like to password protect my iChat logs, so that iChat can still write to them and I can still access them via spotlight, however to open any of them I'd need a password. Is there a way to do it?

Create an encrypted sparse disk image with Disk Utility without saving your password in the keychain, mount the disk and copy your files or folders, then make an alias of the files or folder that are in the disk image to anywhere you prefer. When you access the alias, the disk image will mount and ask for your password.
