Protecting files from being dowloaded but not from being listened.

I was wondering if there were any way of protecting audio files on iweb from being downloaded. The only way i found was to auto play file and remove transport bar, is there any other way?

I'll delete your file soon after this message is posted. I only did it to prove my point.
If the file is served via http and a browser is used to view/listen to it, people can borrow it.
Your Flash Player format does make the file more difficult to borrow than the QuickTime format found in iWeb. The page design and the Flash Player integration takes only a "few more steps" in the design process.
Since iWeb uses QuickTime formats it's a bit of a reach to include Flash formats for the average user.
It may be better for the original poster to protect their page with a password (known visitors), use copyright protection or to add "watermarks" or "DRM" on their files to discourage downloading.
There's really no method to "protect" anything posted on the Web. If they want it (without paying for it) then posting full quality audio files or videos without watermarks is the best method of discouraging file downloads.

Locate them in the Windows Explorer, move them to the new computer as you would any file, and then drag them into the open iTunes window. They can then be deleted from iTunes on the old computer.

I'm trying to install adobe acrobat XI pro, the trial version. The Install Download Assist pops up but the program doesn't install. I do see a file named XI Pro, but not a program. It seems the program never completely downloads. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I've tried to download the trial version of Acrobat XI pro but it's not working. The time bar is active for the download and indicates that it will take two hours. When I come back, the screen has gone back to the "install free trial here" page. I do see a file for XI Pro, but not a program.

I hope the title is enough info, please ask. In the mean time I have created an applescript to open preferences/ sharing and uncheck then check the file sharing box. This works but I would obviously prefer it just work normally. I have no corrupt preference files. Perhaps a file is missing? Thank you.

Error when Writing Metadata to Files in Bridge (Mac) but not in Bridge (PC)

We get an error when writing metadata to files in Bridge (Mac) but not in Bridge (PC). In the same drive and folder, the PC can successfully write a keyword to a file on the PC, where the Mac returns an error. I have researched this at the Adobe Knowledgebase, but their answer seemed to indicate it was a global issue, and we don't see that behavior on the PC.
The client is a Mac of course, and the server volume is a Windows share volume. The Mac is bound to AD, and the domain\username and username formats have both been tried when logging in, but you receive the error in both.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I'm having the same problem using FreeNAS (which uses Samba and Netatalk in the backend), but I tried with both AFP and SMB on Mavericks and Yosemite, I still have the same issue. I think it might be a timing issue with how lightroom interact with a slower write delay using network shares. I suggest you also chime into this thread: Lightroom 5 can't write metadata to DNG files I really hope this is resolved as this is impacting my productivity as I moved my workflow to my Macbook with a shared NAS.

I'd be very curious to know, does anyone know how to search on a section of a full folder path rather than on the individual parts of that?
My folders are structured by LR at import, as (e.g.) 2014 / 01 / 27 for 27th Jan 2014.
So if I wanted to use a Smart Collection to search for (among other things) images in July 2013, I can search multiply on includes all of "2013" and "07" but that also throws up in my case, images which were taken on the 7th day of other months during 2013. I could search on a date range, though that's a little more laborious, or else do what I otherwise prefer, which is by keywords and other attributes plus (possibly) just year.
If I could search on folder path includes the string "2013/07" this would work fine. But I haven't found a syntax that does that (yet, assuming it is possible at all).

Did you scan the file directly into Acrobat, but didn't save it? If so, the file is most certainly lost, and would need to be rescanned.

I have a few files that I password protected in OSX2.8 that will not open now in OSX 4.6. The are not part of the vault type protection. It seems that the feature of individually password protecting files in the earlier OSX system do not open, nor give the option to even give the password. In the get info window there is no option to change or type in the password. The password is not related to the administrator password and it seems that it was a feature that did not follow through to the later OSX version. The only alternative I can think of is to install OSX 2 on an external and hope it gives me the option.
Does anyone know how to deal with this type of individually protected file in OSX 4.6? I have tried the vault, and the get info, but nothing seems to work to even give me the option to enter a password for an individual file. They are jpeg, and QuickTime, and Photoshop .psd files.
Any ideas?

Put the new version of the Camera Raw.8bi file that was downloaded into the same location as the original version.
Navigate to the root of the local disk (not your home folder).
Navigate to the following location: Applications/PSE8/Plug-Ins/File Formats.
Move the original plug-in from the location listed in step 5 to a backup location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure that you keep this version in case you want to revert.
Copy the downloaded copy of the Camera Raw plug-in into the installation location listed under step 6.
Launch Photoshop Elements 8 or Adobe Bridge CS5.

I work for a company that want to update itself to this century. I got all our PC upgraded to Windows 7 and networked into a homegroup. We want to use a web-based appointment scheduler but this means giving our users web access. The main
concern is our .mdb files. We have anti-virus/anti-spyware to protect us from infiltration but we want to safeguard against personnel selling our client list; At least make it more difficult, just a precautionary measure. Do I need additional software
or is it something that I can do in Windows setting? Or do I need a file encryption service that works in conjunction with Windows Access? Sorry for my ignorance and thanks in advance.

There is technology known as RMS which you could set series of policies like only members in the company could access certain documents and if someone copy them and attempt to run them in another PC or outside company, it won't work. Take a look at:

Sorting DRM copy protected files from an iTunes library

I want to copy my iTunes library, without picking up the DRM copy protected files.
Is there a way I can copy the files using a script that will skip the copy protected files?
Looking at get info the file type is different, unfortunately my scripting skills are remedial.

The easiest way to do this doesn't require AppleScript. In iTunes create a new "Smart Playlist". In the dialog that appears, select "Kind" from the first pull down menu, "does not contain" from the second pull down menu, and type "Protected" without the quotes in the text field. This will create a smart playlist of all of your non-DRM items. From there, select all of the items in the playlist and drag them to a folder in the Finder. Might be a long copy but it should do the job.

Opening a hyperlinked password protected file from another Adobe File

I have a user that has a table of contents pdf file. This file links to other files in the same directory. Originally in XP she would click on the link and a password box would open. She would type in the password and was able to read the file. She has now been replaced with a Windows 7 machine and this is not the case. She is able to open the individual files (without actually knowing the contents) in the directory. The password box will pop up when this occurs. When she tries to access the PDF file from the toc.pdf file she cannot.
Is there some sort of security permission that is not allowing a pdf file to open a hyperlinked password protected PDF file in Windows 7.
She is and has been using Adobe Reader X on both machines.

I think this may have something to do with your dns settings. From a shell type ipconfig /flushdns and try again.

How to erase protected files from Dustbin that remain after emptying

I find myself contronted with some rubbish in my dustbin that is so well protected that it cannot be erased.
It remains in my dustbin even after I emtyed it.
Is there a way to get rid of this rubbish and get my dutbin emty.
How can I open the protection.
I have no idae where these files came from.
