Protecting Images/Pictures on website

Hi I use Dreamweaver MX 2004, and want to know how to protect
images on our websites so that people cannot steal them, copy and
paste them etc. Thank you very much for your help. I assume it is
the same with newer formats of dreamweaver so if you know how to do
it with a newer format please tell me, it may solve my problem.
Thanks,
Brian

Open your image in an image editing name and plaster your
name or copyright
notice or 'property of me' across the middle of the image.
Personally, I find this a waste of time (you may not).
Copyright law is
designed to protect your work. It's not a technical solution,
but a legal
solution (even though the RIAA/MPAA disagrees).

  • Firefox 13 only displays a white box instead of an image on certain websites

Firefox 13 is only displaying a white box where the picture should be. This is happening on different websites, but I will include a link to the latest one for me. Internet Explorer displays the image just fine:
    http://www.bostonproper.com/product/Asymmetrical-hem-maxi-dress/836602/sc/169/c/169/pc/44.uts
You should see a large image of a woman in a red dress on the page, not a white box. I have tried clearing the cookies and cache, I have the settings to allow images from this website and nothing is working. The trouble seems to have started when I updated to Firefox 13.

I completed the steps in the article and disabled the Real Player plug in. That did the trick and Firefox 13 is now displaying the images correctly. I am wondering if these issues will be fixed in the future because I do use Real Player quite a bit. Thank you so much for the help!

  • Adding dynamic images to your website using Dreamweaver

    Hi
I've been working on a website which has been in use by public for some months now.
I recently wanted to add a simple product catelogue.   I can do this just by creating my database connection and using the recordsets.
However I wanted to add an image thumbnail to each product record.
I found the above topic in the Adobe Help 'Adding dynamic images to your website using Dreamweaver'
What I really would like to know is what exactly is put in the image_location field of the table, how is this field populated and then how to view the picture.
I have tried, as per instructions, but the picture is not showing.
I use php as I dont know coldfusion, but I'm sure the process must be pretty similar.
If anyone can shed some light then that would be really appreciated.
    Many thanks liz

As most anyone else will say, so I will say; *please don't
    start it
    automatically!*
Playing music on a site is fine, but making it play
    automatically when you
go to the site will alienate lots of people; especially those
    having a quick
web surf at work or who have other music on whilst they're
    working.
But back to your question; have a look at the XSPF music
    player
    http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/).
It comes in different visual versions
(can modify it with a bit of Flash knowledge), allows you to
    select
different songs or just leave it looping, or you can just
    loop one song. And
yes, you can make it start automatically.

is used (on the inside pages)

  • Protect Image from Copying

Can anyone tell me how to protect images on my site from
    being copied?
Is there a way to code or something in Dreamweaver I can
implement to prevent a right click copy?
    I'm currently using Dreamweaver 8.
    Thank you

No, the people here with experience try to give additional
    information in an
    effort to help someone.
Sharing the fact that disable right click is amateur, doesn't
    work and so on
is not a faux rule to be abided by.
    It's simply good advice.
Many people like this forum because people with experience
    don't just give
the recipe the person is looking for, they add some
real world experience and offer advice to try to HELP the
    user avoid some
    mistakes or mis-understandings.
Offering someone information he or she may not have
    considered is neither
elitist or judgmental of whether someone is a "true" designer
    (Who even said
    that?).
    It's simply kind and responsible.
    Take care,

  • How to take a specific image on a website and add to keynote presentation?

Hi, Everybody--I'm a neophyte keynote person, and I've only sporadically used PowerPoint. I remember that in PowerPoint I could take an image from a website, crop the image, and then copy it onto a slide. I've been trying to do that through keynote, but I haven't found a way to do it. For example, if I were to find a good picture of George Washington on the web and wanted to use it as a slide, how could I do that? Thanks.

If one is the in the US, this kind of activity may be governed by the fair use provisions of US copyright law. Essentially, if you are using material for non-commercial, educational purposes, and are not using large portions of a work, then you should be OK. It would, however, be a courtesy to let the original creator know about your use.
Be aware that there are a lot of websites that offer stock photography and other images for free (such as morguefile.com) or for very reasonable prices (such as iStockPhoto).

  • Firefox won't load/show images on some websites with Disconnect add-on enabled

I've been having trouble with Firefox not loading images on some websites. I tried clearing my cache/cookies, checking permissions disabling the AdBlocker add-on but nothing worked. I've attached a screen shot of the page info for one of the pictures that didn't load. Something was changing the picture's file type to 'text/html.'
I finally gave up and reset Firefox and that solved the problem. I began slowly adding back my previous add-ons and found that the Disconnect add-on was the cause. I've seen this issue discussed here and on other support websites as well as Bugzilla so I just wanted to offer up my solution in case anyone is having the same issue and can't pinpoint the origin.

I also wanted to know if anyone has any alternatives to Disconnect that don't cause this to happen.
ETA: I've replaced it with Ghostery and that looks be working great without blocking any pictures.

  • Firefox 4 having trouble correctly displaying images on some websites

This problem started in the last few days. The JPEG thumbnails and in some cases larger JPEGs on certain websites is corrupted. Sometimes the whole image is looks very "blocky" and sometimes the first 10-30% of the image displays correctly and the rest is distorted and/or displays with weird colors.
I am using Firefox 4.0.1 on three different computers and it happens on all three! One computer is Windows 7 64-bit and the others are Windows XP SP3.
I have updated video drivers - no change. Two computers have Nvidia video, the third has some cheesy old integrated graphics.
The problem happens with Firefox in Safe Mode, and it happens (with both laptops) when I go to different WiFi hotspots.
It happens no matter how I set the color management.
I have cleared caches and cookies ... I have disabled my antivirus program ... no difference.
I have disabled hardware acceleration in Firefox - no difference.
Reloading the affected web page page does not change the problem. But I can copy the URL and paste it into IE9 and the page '''always displays correctly!''' Now, that should make you guys worry!

Sometimes it is that corrupted, sometimes less corrupted, but usually not at all corrupted. I'm using Firefox 7.0.1 and been having this problem since upgrading to Firefox 4.
Here are two images, which showed as corrupted. But later, atleast rebooted, but no Firefox or any other cache etc. cleaned, the first picture shows as it should be. The second picture still shows as corrupted, but when opening the second link when using private browsing, it shows as it should be.

unfortunately, .net is essentially a clone of java so you may find that you will be looking

    What is the problem specifiaclly?
If the images are intended for web use I would recommend converting them to sRGB which could be done with Edit > Convert to Profile or with File > Save for Web, but as including a Save step in Actions and applying them as Batch can sometimes cause problems I would go with regular converting.
You could also try Image Processor Pro.

  • How do I use Adobe Edge to get faded header images on my website?

Trying to use Adobe Edge to get faded header images on my website. Was referred to Adobe Edge because it is supposed to be easy for beginners. I was able to upload my images, but then there was no instruction/direction on what to do next. Everything I clicked just brought me somewhere else. I'm a novice who needs help with coding, as everytime I tried adding coding to my page, it messed it up. I would appreciate if someone can tell me what to do after I upload the images.

Yes, Animate. Again, I uploaded the images, but then, I didn't see any directions on what to do next, as I would like fading header images for my website. I understand that it is supposed to generate the code for my website, which is where I need the most help.

  • How do I get properties of images on a website?

This may be a dumb question, but I recently switched to Mac. In Windows, if I right-click on an image on a website, I will be able to see all of the properties of it, like size, location etc. When I right-click on a Mac, I only get the options to copy, save etc. How can I get info?
    Thanks.

If you choose the "open image in new window" option the image location will be in the address bar and the image size and name will be in the title bar (the name will tell you if it is a jpeg, png or gif). It took Apple FOREVER before Safari finally started doing that (much to my annoyance--I always found it handy to see the size, so I was a much happier camper with Safari when it finally added that in the Tiger version).

  • How can I increase the thumbnail size when using Safari to upload an image to a website?

I upload many images to multiple websites and when using Safari to upload these images, the thumbnails are so small I can barely make out what the image is. I can easily figure out how to increase the thumbnail size when viewing them in Finder and set the default to my liking, but I cannot seem to find a way to do this in Safari. The last topic I saw on this was form 2013 and have not seen any update. Is there a way to do this?

    Delete all unused, invisible layers.
Sometimes zip compression is better than jpg compression (in the pdf output settings). Zip is lossless, and works better with non gradient colour or no images.
Flattening the image before you save it to pdf can reduce the file size if you are using jpg compression.
Post a preview of your pdf and we can comment further on how to reduce the file size.

  • How do you resize a image/picture and save it?

Hello, I know how to resize a image. But how do I save a new image/pictures has Jpeg with new size properties?

Use File>Save As or File>Save for web. Either of these will create a new document as long as the name is different or is in another folder.

  • Dashcode: How do I get the name of an image in a website?

I'm making a widget that gets the filename of an image on a website and it changes the value of some parts of the widget if the filename has a certain name. The only problem is that I don't know how to get the name of this image in the widget. Could somebody please help me?

If I understand well, I think that the XMLHttpRequest object may help you. Please check the following link:
    http://developer.apple.com/internet/webcontent/xmlhttpreq.html
Also, if you can program in Perl (or some other scripting language), you can use an external script to read the filename and send it to your Widget.
