Protecting/Locking Pages documents on 10.5.8

I'm trying to put a password on a few pages documents using the 10.5.8 operating system. I realize it's sort of out of date, so that could be the problem. But i've been watching some videos that say to click on inspector, then the blank page, and then check the box that says 'require a password.' Only thing is that I don't see that box to check at the bottom of inspector.
Is there any other ways to do this?

The encrypted Disk Image is the safest way..

How To Restore A Locked Pages Document ? ( I Forgot The Pass ) I Created A Documents Of My Personal Expense And Locked it So That No One Could See it !! But Apparently Now Even i Don't Remember The Pass So if Someone Could Please help Me On How To Regain Access of That Locked Documents ? ( Thanks in Advance )

Once you set a Pages document password, you will need it again to unlock the document. There is no other available unlocking technique, as many before you have discovered. Tell your mind to recall your document password, and then stop trying to remember it. Let your subconscious retrieve it.
In the future, keep a secure, analog list of your passwords as backup.

  • How do i password protect a pages document?

i have a document that i created in pages.  it is a worksheet for brides (we are wedding photographers).  i use to have the document set up so when i email the document to a client, they can read the questions/timeline but cannot edit my text.  i have cells in tables that they can answer in.  the cells were grey in color.  the way i did this was by maybe putting a password on the document (which left the area grey for them to respond in).  but i cannot remeber how i did this.  i'm wondering if anyone knows what i'm talking about and/or how to do it.

Password protection prevents a document from being opened without the password.
Locking an object (such as a text box or table) prevents the object of its contents from being altered without first unlocking the object. No password protection is available for this, though, so the recipient could easily unlock the object and change its content.
At least one of Adobe's PDF applications offers the features you want—non-editable base document with fields that can be filled by the user, then saved and the file returned.

  • Password Protect a Pages document

How can I set a password protect on a document when saving it?

Another method is to save it as a password locked PDF.
    From your open Document, Print,
    click on the PDF dropdown
    Save as PDF
Click Security Options and set a password.
    Save.
Whether this suits your needs I don't know. I thought I'd throw it in there.

  • Lock pages document while editing

    Hi,
I need to have multiple users contribute to the same pages document. The document has been placed on a network share. Currently Pages 09 allows different people in different offices open the same document, make changes and save. When they do that the changes made by other users who have it open at the same time are discarded.
If the document is actively being modified by one person I'd like to prevent it from being edited by anyone else.
Word on the PC only allows others to open it in read only mode if someone else currently has it open. It would be great if I could make pages do that.
    Thank you!

Called Apple support, talked to pages department. According to the representative I spoke with, pages is designed for individual single users, not necessarily schools or corporate collaborative multi-user environments.
The rep said a feature request would be sent to engineering regarding locking the document so multiple people can't edit it at the same time discarding each others changes. I need to purchase office 2011 and do some testing in the mean time I guess.
    Thank you!

  • Any idea how to password protect a pages document? (iwork09 version with mountain lion on macbook air)

Thanks much, just don't see it when I try to "save as" a pages document...

Sorry, clicking my old 08 icon was the problem.  Found the 09 book manual and it works (from another commenter).  Just not as user friendly as the "save as" function on a word document.  First time Microsoft has trumped Mac yet.

  • Can you password protect a Pages document saved in Word format

    Hi
I know how do do it for a Pages document, but when I try to save as a Word document it appears I can't.  Is that not allowed?

I think they are just using different methods.

  • I can not seem to password protect a pages document

I created a document with pages.  I thought I had password protected it.  However document is not requiring password to open.
I used password protect from the file menu of the document.  I even changed the password but nothing sticks.  What am I doing wrong?

When you choose File > Set (or Change) Password… if you always want a password challenge, even on your own machine, then do not check Remember this password in my keychain from the drop-down Pages password sheet.
If you did, you may have to remove the password, and subsequently re-add it following the above guideline.

  • Does password-protecting a Pages document also encrypt it?

I know that there are some programs out there that let you set a password but don't actually encrypt the files *cough*Day One*cough*. Does Pages encrypt documents? And if so, with what encryption?

Another method is to save it as a password locked PDF.
    From your open Document, Print,
    click on the PDF dropdown
    Save as PDF
Click Security Options and set a password.
    Save.
Whether this suits your needs I don't know. I thought I'd throw it in there.

  • You can now password protect a Pages document...

It's in the Document inspector at the bottom. You can do this with Numbers and Keynote as well.
Now I can finally move my tests out of word...:) YAY!
    Scott

the algorithm used for PDFs must be compatible with the Adobe's one.
There are two levels of encryption for the Portable Document Format. Older versions of the format can only use low bit encryption. Newer versions of the format can use either low bit or high bit encryption. Apple Mac OS X uses low bit encryption.
Apple Mac OS X has removed encryption when it was present. For instance, the Apple ColorSync Utility at one point could be used for this trick. There is a very, very, very respectable University in the United States with a public page on decryption for the Portable Document Format.
And then there is Elcomsoft, a company in Russia that sells decryption as well for low bit as for high bit. One argument is that in prepress, if a client by mistake has encrypted a printing master, there is a legitimate case for decrypting that printing master.
By the bye, as far as I can tell the implementation of low bit encryption in Apple Mac OS X is broken.

  • Is it possible to open a password protected pages document made on my mac on my iPad?

I can't find the answer anywhere in the Pages documents or googling, so I thought I'd ask here. I own Pages on my ipad, but not my imac. The ipad version won't create a password protected file, but the mac version will. Could someone who has Pages on both their mac and ipad do a quick test for me to answer this. It should be as easy as:
    1) create and save a password protected document on the mac Pages
    2) sync it through icloud to the ipad.
    3) try to open it on the ipad Pages.
    4) report back
If the answer is yes, I'll probably buy Pages for the mac, but if not, probably won't.
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

WHenWhen I export a pages document as an ePub file the result is a blank locked text edit file on my desk top not an ePub file as previously no problem creating. How do I fix? HHD

Try adding .epub to the end of the name.
I assume you are aware that to open an .epub file you need a special app, not TextEdit or Pages, right?
