Protecting your email from being copied

Does anyone know if there is a function for mac that can protect your emails frome being copied by another person.

+Outlook does not include these capabilities which is impossible.+
Don't be silly. Information rights management has been an integral part of MS' Office suite since the 2003 version. I might add that there are other programs that do the same thing, for other kinds of documents, for example Adobe Acrobat for pdf files. Unbelievably enough, even various well-known pieces of Apple software do the same thing for certain kinds of media files. You simply do not know what you are talking about.
This is straight from Outlook's Help:
"By using Permission on the toolbar, you can restrict permission on an e-mail message for specific recipients you want to read the message. As the message sender, you can remove restricted permission from a saved draft of a message by clicking Permission on the toolbar again. Recipients can open and read an e-mail message with restricted permission just as they would a message that doesn't have restricted permission. If recipients don't have Outlook 2003 or later installed on their computers, they can download the Rights Management Add-on for Internet Explorer or another program that supports content with restricted permission.
E-mail administrators can create permission policies to include on the Outlook Permission submenu (or Permission on the File menu). These permission policies define who can read messages and what actions recipients can take with those messages. For example, an e-mail administrator might define a policy called "Company Confidential" that specifies that a message using that policy can be opened only by people inside the company domain. When you compose a message, you can choose from up to 20 customized policies on the Permission submenu (depending on how many policies the e-mail administrator provides)."
+Regarding security, there is a night and day difference between Windows and OS X.+
More nonsense. See my above remark.

    Even commercial DVDs cannot accomplish this, hard as they try.

  • How can I protect DVDs I create in PE from being copied?

    How can I protect DVDs I create in PE from being copied? I know that I can't prevent 100%, but would like to stop a majority. Can I apply MACROVISION to my DVDs?

    >cycle redundancy failure
    Optical discs are prone to read errors, particularly when finger prints, fluff, etc. get on the reading surface, so redundant information is added in such a way that minor errors can be corrected. If the disc is damaged sufficiently seriously, e.g. a deep scratch running around a track, the error correction system fails to correct the error, and you will be unable to read that file on a computer by normal means. Note that only the last .VOB file that was scratched would be unreadable.
    I bought a cheap commercial DVD that had a serious pressing error, causing the movie to jump. Windows explorer failed to read the DVD but I did find a program (forgotten which) which made 10 attempts to read the faulty sector before carrying on. The copied movie then played perfectly (well there must have been a minor glitch where the error was, but I couldn't see it).

  • How can I prevent my images from being copied?

    This is a perennial question, but the simple answer is that you can't. It's impossible.
    Don't believe snake oil adverts for products that claim to prevent images from being copied. Once an image is displayed on a computer, there are numerous ways of copying it. "Solutions" that prevent users from right-clicking or pressing Print Screen can be disabled by turning off JavaScript in the browser; and screen grabbing software can easily make a copy of an image.
    If you want to show your photography on the web, but don't want others to steal your images, consider the following options:
    Add a watermark to your images.
    Embed copyright information in the metadata of your images.
    Save images at low resolution (72dpi is standard on the web, but useless for printing).
    The following image uses all three techniques:
    You can create a Photoshop action to watermark images. Use the File Info dialog box in Bridge CS4 to add copyright metadata to your images.

    I asked a question. Hans was kind enough to give me a solution, and for that I thank him! I have also learned a little more in the process!
    We have already established that the solution stops people right clicking on an image and saving the image (be it in Windows Explorer or not), but it has also been established that it is by no means a fool proof way of protecting images and that there are other ways of copying images from a webpage. However, it is another level of protection.
    Unfortunately, I do not want to watermark my images as I do not like looking as watermarked images myself. I also downsize my images for the web. I was just looking for another level of protection.
    Thanks for the input anyway!

    You can prevent it from being printed by applying a security policy to it
    in Acrobat. The rest can't be prevented, unless you spend  a LOT of money
    on DRM protection.

    How do I keep emails from being deleted on my iPhone 6? Emails get deleted from phone when I startup desktop computer and they are downloaded from sever. Is POP3 no longer supported on IOS 8.1?

    Have you seen this?
    Using a POP account with more than one device - Apple Support
    A better solution is if your email provider uses IMAP. IMAP sync email folders between multiple devices. Meaning any device will receive the email, all sent email can be seen on the devices. If you delete email from one device the email is deleted from all the other devices. Check with your email provider to see if they offer IMAP services.
    If they do not your choices are to 1) configure email on the PC to keep Mail on the mail server or 2) change email providers to something like Gmail or Outlook.com (as examples). FWIW I use Cox IMAP email and fully sync email between a Win 8.1 Update 1 laptop, a Win 7 desktop, an iPad 4, an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 5S.

  • How do I prevent my emails from being sent without my hitting the send key. Many of my emails are just "taking off" and sending while I am in the middle of typing. If this is a keyboard shortcut, I must disable it, so how do I do that

    Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
    If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

  • Is there a way to password protect certain apps from being used? Example I don't want my child to access my apps while he's using his on the iPad

    Is there a way to password protect certain apps from being used? Example I don't want my child to access my apps while he's using his on the iPad. I don't want to lock him out of the iPad. Let him use Angry birds, but not Sims or Games not appropriate for him that I play.

    Sorry, but it is not possible to restrict use of specific apps other that the few restrictions provided in the Restrictions settings, not unless the app itself provides some sort of lock. If you don't want your child playing certain games, the only answer is to not load them on the iPad he uses.
    Regards.

  • How to lock apps from being copied/stolen

    I haven't put much thought into this before but had a few other Techs. ask me about this.
    Is there away to lock down applications from being copied.
    For example, how to stop a user from simply dragging MS Office to a thumb drive then take home with them.
    I know some apps put the SN# and such info in the library's but this is not hard to get around. A lot of apps are just drag drop apps.
    Is there not a way?
    Thanks,
    Carter

    Hi, Carter.
    AFAIK, there's no way to prevent this. Even if you installed the applications on a Mac OS X 10.4 Server volume and used ACLs (Access Control Lists), there's no ACL permission that allows Read while prohibiting "copy." What can be read can be copied, so merely using Read permissions generally won't prevent copying.
    You can read about ACLs in the PDF document Mac OS X Server 10.4 File Services (Manual).
    This is why so many third-party applications are employing "activation" and "phone home" technologies to assure the license is both valid and running on the computer on which it was originally installed. As one can see from reviewing the information on software piracy published by the Business Software Alliance, these methods are still being circumvented, but they are getting better.
    If piracy is an issue in your firm, it should vigorously enforce an anti-piracy "condition of employment," i.e. if someone is found to be stealing apps, they should be fired both immediately and publicly, the latter to set an example that the firm has zero tolerance for piracy.
    Good luck!

  • How to stop an embedded PDF online from being copied and pasted?

    I have an issue which I need assistance with please.
    I can secure a PDF file using Adobe Acrobat XI and it disables it from being copied and pasted (right-click brings no such options) but, when I upload it online (to Wordpress) and link to it then it opens in Adobe Reader (or whatever PDF viewer the user has installed on their computer) and because of this they can highlight the text and right-click and then copy and paste it to a Word document and such, even though this was not possible in Adobe Acrobat XI but as soon as it goes online it is possible.  How can this be prevented?
    Basically I want to embed PDF's online for others to read and view directly online but I want to disable them from copying and pasting text - can this be done?
    Many thanks.
    Ian

    If I allowed the secured PDF as a download instead (because it could not be embedded) and they tried to edit it with their PDF software I assume the encryption on it and restrictions (e.g. no copy and paste) would still be enforced?
    Not a correct assumption. Some PDF software respects security and some doesn't. This has nothing to do with whether it is embedded or downloaded.
    Many people face this issue, but it is best to just get used to the idea that what you put on the web can be saved, shared, emailed, copied and recirculated. That's how the web is. Even if copy/paste wasn't allowed, the user could just do a screen capture and paste that. If that weren't allowed they could photograph the screen. And for some of the older generation, it even occurs to them to retype what they want...!

  • How to "protect" a square from being erased in a Java Paint application?

    Hi. I have created a paint program in Java (something like MS Paint) and I have a problem.
    In order to show the current colour the user is using I have drawn a square on the screen.
    But when I select the eraser tool and try to erase the square, it can be erased and I dont want that.
    Is there any way I can "protect" the square from being erased by the eraser tool?
    The eraser tool basically draws white rectangles when the mouse is dragged.
    Thanks

    Hi. This is the code I am using. Hope this helps.
           Button fill_rect_btn = new Button(" Fill Rect");  //create buttons
           Button draw_rect_btn = new Button(" Draw Rect");
           Button eraser_btn = new Button("Eraser");
           eraser_btn.addActionListener(this);       //add actions listener
           eraser_btn.addMouseMotionListener(this);  //and MouseMotionListener
           g.setColor(Color.yellow);  //draw the yellow rect
           g.fillRect(0,0,145,108);   //behind the buttons
           else if(e.getSource()==eraser_btn)
              {shape=7;}  //test if button has been clicked
            public void mouseDragged(java.awt.event.MouseEvent mouseEvent)
                 if(shape==7)
                     g.setColor(Color.white);
                     g.fillRect(xvalue, yvalue, 10 , 20  //draw rectangles
                     g.setColor(Color.black);
            }

  • How to stop an email from being sent after I hit send?

    How can I immediately stop an email from being sent after clicking "send"?
    I can't seem to find any info on this. I am assuming that it is impossible. Correct?

    When sending the emails with larger attachments that take a little time to actually upload and get out, you can open the activity viewer by pressing command-0 (or is it command-o?--)--it may also be under the window menu at the top--I'm not at my Mac right now to check. The activity viewer has a stop button on it. After you stop it, you should be able to either delete the email from the outgoing mail folder or drag that email to another folder, such as the drafts folder. I've done this a few times without a problem.

  • Can I stop email from being sent?

    I have a number of email accounts configured in outlook 2010.
    I want to prevent email from being sent via one of the accounts.
    CAN I do this?
    If so How?
    I have tried to change the SMTP address to be invalid.
    It does not send, and does not give me an error.
    When I close outlook it tells me emails have not been sent. I have no idea where these emails r.
    When I restart it, it resets the smtp address and sends the email.

    thx for the reply
    The problem I am trying to work around is ppl using outlook try to send/reply/fwd emails using those old addresses. Outlook must be configured to rcv mail from clients using those addresses. So if the old email address is set as FROM I want to stop it from
    being sent.
    if i set the smtp address to an invalid the test never completes and I can never get to the end of that wizard.
    If I go back and look at it it is still the invalid address after I cancel the wizard.
    If i try to send mail it appears to do it after a long pause and i can't find the email anyplace -but it is not sent.
    If i shut down and restart outlook it is back to the valid address and the mail gets sent.
    I have it set only rcv, not send, that address in the group but that doesn't work.
