Protection Fault Blue Screen

Hey,
I have a K7T Turbo2 with a 750 Duron. I have had the motherboard for about 4 months now and had no problems. But recently my computer froze so I had to shut it down because nothing would work. I left it alone for a day and tried to start it up the next day and after the Windows ME screen popped up I got the Blue Screen of Death saying "Protection Fault while trying to initialize Device CONFIGMG you must restart your computer." I figured it was either a bad boot file or a virus so I did both and scan disk and a virus scan but neither solved the problem. I tried updating my BIOS and that also did no good. The funny thing is that when I try to start it in safe mode instead of Device CONFIGMG it says Device ISO. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Eric

have you tried different memory or power supply? basically, swap out as many components as you can, but i would start with those 2. you should be able to get memchecker or something like that which runs in dos to check for bad memory.

  • Blue Screen Error "Page fault in nonpaged area" when installing software?

    Hi,
I just upgraded from Vista to Windows 7, and went on a computer-buying spree and bought a new router (WRT54GS2). Everything was working fine, until I went to actually install the software, at which point I got the Blue Screen of Death and the error message "page fault in nonpaged area." What can I do to fix it?

Do not run the linksys CD to configure the router...You can configure the router manually.Connect the modem to the router on the internet port and the computer to the router on ethernet port..Now,open the GUI of linksys and configure the router.

  • Reader 9.0, 9.1, 9.1.2 blue screening when opening multiple PW protected files

I have a user, using MSOffice 2k3, who get a blue screen when opening multiple password protected files thru Outlook. The error suggests to update the BIOS, which has been done. This occurrs in all 3 versions of Reader 9. It specifically occurrs AFTER he inputs the password in the PW box. It does not matter which file he opens 1st. Any assistance would be appreciated.

No, you are wrong (Gene & Mike). First, the forms, at least my forms, have NOT been edited since being created in designer. They were created and saved directly to flash. Second, this issue has been posted on the acrobat forum as well as the life cycle designer forum and both thread were ended with adobe expert posts saying it was an adobe reader issue and to post here.
I have experimented more with this issue and it seems to be a 'trusted identity' issue within reader, but I have not wholely figured it out yet. My forms work on Reader, 7, 8, and 9. They work on all versions of 7 and 8 regardless of what the form was optimized for (my forms were optimized for 9 and higher). The only trouble is on 9.0. I have found that when updating on client machines, reader gives a prompt (sometimes) that says reader has found a set of trusted identities from a previous version, would you like to use these identies or create a new set of identities. If you choose to keep the existing trusted identies set, the form works, even when upgraded to reader 9.0
Not trying to be argumentative (Mike and Gene) but the 'experts' bail on this issue by telling people it's a reader problem and to post here.

  • Equium M37-337 keeps crashing and blue screen list the fault as - igxprd32

    Hi,
The laptop model number is Equium M37-337 PSM77E-00L00MAV
from looking through the web I see this is a graphics issue.
When starting the laptop it will go int Windows and then crash with a blue screen listing the above. This lasts only about half a second and then machine just goes to a black screen and nothing else.
I am able to turn the laptop off by holding down the power button for several seconds. When I try and restart it returns to the black screen state.
If I leave the laptop off for somre time (say 30 minutes) it reverts back to the startup to the Windows and then bluescreen black screen sequence.
I have tried booting to windows safe mode but a similar crash occurs (although sometimes this is just the machine locking up with some thin black lines across the display.
Is the on board graphics 'card' broken? Is this a common problem with this model? Is this economically fixable?
    Thanks
    Chris

    Hi,
What I would recommend doing first would be to do a product recovery on the machine. Baring in mind that any data you have on the notebook will be lost by doing this; it is imperitave you back up your data first before going ahead with that.
The reason I am saying you should do that first is if the repair do see this as a software issue, and should you have any extended warranties on the notebook, you would be charged (although this may be the case anyway). Also, baring in mind that if the product recovery does solve the problem then you could save yourself a whole lot of time with waiting for repairs.
As far as I am aware there is no known issues with this machine where the graphics are concerned, and it's not something I have heard of with that model. As far as the repair being economical, I would first have a quote on the laptop. I know that would cost ?£35 but if the repair cost is within your budget and cheaper than a new unit then that'll be better for you.
Unfortunately there is no way of finding out what the cost of the repair will be, as the repairs are done at a specalist repair centre, which is far from here. You'll have to have that sent in first for a quote before you'll know.
    I hope that helps,
    Regards,
    Nukey

    Hi
Currently all versions of F-Secure Internet Security / SAFE will bluescreen with Windows 10 starting from Windows 10 build 10130. Only the beta version of F-Secure SAFE ("fs protection") is compatible.
We know what is causing the problem and are working on maintenance releases. The products will be updated before Windows 10 launches.

  • Blue Screen on Domain controllers after Updates

After patching our Domain controllers (virtual on ESXi 5.5 U2) recently we started getting Blue screens and reboots. Other changes in our environment around this time include enabling vshield drivers and scanning with Trend Micro. I have removed patches
from April but cannot remove Patch KB3020370 - there is no uninstall button. The error still persists, I have removed the Vshield driver and am waiting to see if the issue reoccurs. Can anyone assist in interpreting the details below? Also is it possible to

    UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault).  The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
    If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
            use .trap on that value
    Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
    Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.

    Hi,
    Dump file displays:
    BugCheck 7F, {8, 80050031, 406f8, fffff800018d4e14} and Probably caused by : ntkrnlmp.exe ( nt!KiDoubleFaultAbort+b2 ).
Bug check 0x7F typically occurs after you install a faulty or mismatched hardware (especially memory) or if installed hardware fails.
A double fault can occur when the kernel stack overflows. This overflow occurs if multiple drivers are attached to the same stack. For example, if two file system filter drivers are attached to the same stack and then the file system recurses back in, the stack
    overflows.
You may reference the link below for detailed resolution about this problem:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff559244(v=vs.85).aspx
Besides, you may try to restore the server to the state before installing these Windows Update.
    Best Regards,
    Eve Wang

As ZigZag3143x said, the memory dumps blame Intel graphic driver.
So I recommend you to download fresh graphics drivers from
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com.
Also, could you please tell me if you have installed new updates (eg
    kb2670838) recently?
    Thanks!

  • Blue screen when powering off

I recently purcahsed a one year old Lenovo 3000, it had Windows XP installed and I upgraded this to Windows Vista with no problems. I then renamed the laptop and deleted the previous owners user files and that's when I had a problem. When I power down the laptop I get a Blue Screen saying something about a dump and saying it was doing something to protect my PC ?  I found some kind of fault finding log and it mentioned something about the pc's name and also something about being unable to access a certain user file. I changed the computer name back to the original one and unerased the original user file but I still get the Blue Screen when powering down.
Is it possible to get a replacement software DVD that will get me back to square one please, thanks for any help. Dan McLean in Port Glasgow.

This really sounds like shoddy drivers combined with an IRQ conflict.
I suggest you post your IRQ's from System Info, for example:
    IRQ 0   System timer   OK
IRQ 1   Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard   OK
IRQ 4   Communications Port (COM1)   OK
IRQ 5   WinFast TV2000 XP WDM Audio Capture   OK
IRQ 6   Standard floppy disk controller   OK
IRQ 8   System CMOS/real time clock   OK
IRQ 9   Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System   OK
IRQ 11   NVIDIA nForce PCI System Management   OK
    IRQ 12   Logitech-compatible Mouse PS/2   OK
IRQ 13   Numeric data processor   OK
IRQ 14   Primary IDE Channel   OK
IRQ 15   Secondary IDE Channel   OK
IRQ 16   RADEON X800 XT Platinum Edition   OK
IRQ 17   WinFast TV2000 XP WDM Video Capture   OK
IRQ 18   Creative SB Live! series   OK
IRQ 20   NVIDIA Network Bus Enumerator   OK
IRQ 21   Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller   OK
IRQ 22   Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller   OK
IRQ 23   Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller   OK
Also, as you intend to DL and install the  nVidia Drivers make sure you get the sound drivers from Realtek Downloads too.
What Drivers are you using for the AIW?
Take all the Driver CD's and make pretty Christmas tree ornaments out of them
~Edit~ I just looked at the stop error again and realized I misread, then I saw Supershanks post My initial suspicion is likely to be wrong, but it's worthe a look anyway.

  • Satellite L650 - frequent computer restart with blue screen

Hi, I bought an L650 about 2months ago so it is still under warranty.
Recently (maybe last 2 weeks) it has continued to shut down with blue screen of death. It seemed to occur more if I opened up many tabs in internet and i thought it might be adobe flash but don't think so anymore.
It says if there is new hardware or software installed try reinstall it but I do not know which software and there is no new hardware.
"a problem has been detected and windows has been shyt down to protect your computer
A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or terminated.
    technical information:
    *** STOP: 0x000000F4 (0X00000000000003, OxFFFFFFFFAB007A4B30, 0xFFFFFFFFFA(rest off screen from camera)
    xFFFF800035C#1EO
Somthing like above although its quick video on my camera so some numbers may be wrong.
Can someone help if this is a hardware malfunction or my fault somehow?
Is this a warranty problem or what should I do?
I never made any windows CD or anything when I bought laptop unfortunately so do not know if I can reformat harddrive?
    Thanks.

    Hello
It is worst than at the beginning with STOP: 0x000000F4 error message. It is always problematic to help with such problems because your notebook configuration, preinstalled software and activity is not known to us.
In my opinion you should back-up all your important data, install OS again using HDD recovery option and test functionality with original OS without any additional software installation.
If the BSOD will occur again and again I recommend you to contact nearest Toshiba service and ask for help. I have two Toshiba notebooks and until now I didnt notice BSOD at all.

  • HP dv9740us not going past blue screen with page_fault_in_nonpaged_area error

I have had very few problems with my laptop until recently.  I have had a couple of minor crashes that I could fix by doing a hard restart.  Last night, I was playing an online game and suddenly my game started to bog down then it froze up completely.  I tried to ctrl+alt+delete to restart and nothing happened.  So I ended up holding down the power button until it shut down.  As soon as it started to reboot, it went into a black screen asking for start up repair or start windows normally.  I tried repair, and it took me to the screen, did a little running of the program, then went black.  When I was ready to hit the power button it flashed several windows in both blue and black and finally ended up with the blue screen telling me I had the page_fault_in_nonpaged_area error.  I tried several things:  restarted again, ran disk tests on both disks(passed), a memory test(passed), and am now backing stuff up to an external drive.  It will not get past that error or that blue screen.  Both my husband and I have decent experience with this kind of thing, but neither of us are able to fix it.  I also tried to follow the instructions for reseating the memory.  Nothing works.  I don't want to lose my important files, especially all of the pictures of my son's first year.  Please Help!!!
I want to add that I have not added any new programs lately.  The only thing causing problems has been a PC Matic add-on to do real time protection.  That stops working everytime I open windows.

This Stop message occurs when requested data is not found in memory. The system generates a fault, which normally indicates that the system looks for data in the paging file. In this circumstance, however, the missing data is identified as being located within an area of memory that cannot be paged out to disk. The system faults, but cannot find, the data and is unable to recover. Faulty hardware, a buggy system service, antivirus software, and a corrupted NTFS volume can all generate this type of error.

  • Windows Blue Screen Error Message Appears As Soon As IPod Connected

Everytime I connect my IPod to my computer, I get the Windows Blue Screen error message. Thought it was the cable, so plugged cable in by itself. No problem. Uninstalled IPod and ITunes software and then plugged in IPod, still got the Blue Screen. The Blue Screen says something about "recent plugged in device problem". It is not the cable, it must be the IPod. Did not have this problem when I bought it. Tried it on labtop and get the same error message. I can't do updater or anything that requires me to plug the IPod into a computer because the Blue Screen appears immediately. When I unplug, the Blue Screen remains and locks up the computer so I have to restart each time. I have tried everything I can think of. Please help.

Hi Mike thank you for replying,
I am not able to start the computer in safe mode, safe mode with networking, last good known configuration etc, Each time it quickly blue screens and restarts about two secs into the process.
I was unable to try a clean OS install from the disk as it gave the blue screen error shown in the original post. The same thing happened when I tried to use the repair option on the XP home disc. So i can't get into the computer at all to start diagnosing the fault, the only clue I have is the error message, and after searching the internet I haven't found much enlightenment from that yet.
If you can help me out or suggest where to search it would be much appreciated.
    Thx

  • A60: Blue Screen error message after recovering procedure

i have an A60, and over the last 3 months i have ran the recovery disk 10-15 times, windows installs fine, then a few days later the computer either freezes and gives a blue screen of death when you try to turn it on, or it starts up and comes up with a message saying "windows explorer has encountered a problem" and then completely stops responding, or gives a similar message regarding something called Dr Watson Kernal Debugger and equally, stops responding, now. having tried formatting and scanning as well as getting on my knees and begging the computer to please please please work, i am out of ideas, maybe the hard drive is the problem? is it a common A60 fault?
also in a completely unrelated issue, where can i get a new "c" key, mine keeps falling off for some reason.

    Hi
Usually the blue screen appears because of a serious software or hardware malfunction.
In you case I suggest that there could be something wrong with the hardware. Of course there could be also something wrong with the HDD. But to be 100% sure you should contact the Toshiba service. He can make some diagnostic tests.
You can also order the additional keyboard buttons from the Toshiba service partner who is responsible for your country.
