Protection Plan warranty voided?....

If I get an "apple genius" to install a larger HD (for instance, maybe a 160GB..), would that void my protection plan?.......
Also, is it possible to install a video card into my MB?...
Last, does the 3 yr protection plan period start when I place the order, or when I actually receive the MB..?.
THank you!~~

It won't void your warranty if you have a Apple Genius do it or even if you do it yourself. It's considered a user replaceable item. It's perfectly acceptable to do it yourself. Of course if you damage something while doing it then that's another matter but short of some errant static charge there's not much you could do while doing it yourself. Simple as pie.
They even give you a PDF Manual to do it. Of course they don't include taking the four screws out of the bracket of the old drive and putting the bracket on the new one.
As for your video card? No you're stuck with what you got.
Have no idea on when it starts. I would assume if it took more than a week to receive one I'd be contacting someone and asking for sure but in most cases it's not going to matter within a couple of days over the course of three years.

  • IPhone Protection Plan/Warranty.

Is there any warranty, or plan out there that covers the iPhone from damage? Like if I happened to break my phone, can I send it in and get a new phone for free, or some fee? Or would I have to pay full price for a new iPhone?

search this forum for "insurance" you will find earlier posts that list two insurance companies offering policies covering theft, loss, and damage.
I bought the AppleCare Protection Plan because I always buy the APP on all my Macss and I have always gotten my money's worth in "free" repairs. (I think. My iPhone will need a new battery before two years are gone!)

  • Does Installinig 3rd party RAM void warranty and AppleCare Protection Plan?

I accidently bought my upgraded RAM seperately (512 MB) and want to upgrade it in my Mac Mini, but it's Kingston RAM. Will this void my warranty and AppleCare Protection Plan by having it inside the system?
    Will Apple stores install it?
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
Having a different ram, by itself won't invalidate your warranty. Note if it's Kingston's valueram, it may or may not work if you have a G4 mini. Haven't heard how the Intel-mini's are doing with various manufacturers RAM, although I suspect the Intel-mini has a broader range of memory it can use.
Apple stores will only install RAM they sell. If you contact one of the AASP's, they should be able to install the RAM. CompUSA, for example, is one AASP. You can find other ones in the Denver area using the locator at http://www.apple.com/buy/locator/service.html

  • I just brought a apple protection plan as my phone warranty is going to end in a day, when i am trying to enter the protection plan code and my phone serial no its showing an error message try after some time is there any solution to that?

i just brought a apple protection plan as my phone warranty is going to end in a day, after entering the protection plan code and my phone serial no its showing an error message "technical error try after some time", is there any solution for that?
As i need the warranty to extend for another year please help me regarding this issue.
When i bought a new iphone5 in Inda after using it for three days lock button was not working properly and it was warranty claimed and exchanged from apple service center in India, for the same phone I want to extend the warranty but its showing a error message is there any solution?

Here is some information on the applecare +:
    http://www.apple.com/support/products/iphone.html
It appears that you have to buy the applecare within 30 days of buying your phone - you said that your phone warranty is almost over, so when did you buy it??? That could be the explanation for the error.

The strap of my bag broke when my laptop was in it, now it is making a buzzing noise all the time when I am using it. I have warranty with protection plan, how do I fix it?

Take it in and have it assessed. They do not have to know about the bag incident unless the explicitly ask for the specific details (like when you are being questioned by a TSA screener, LEO, etc.). As far as you know, the noise started up and it is getting warm. With luck it is just an unbalanced fan that needs replacement.

  • Service under warranty plus protection plan?

I am still in central Viet Nam with a disc jammed in my iBook G4 drive and the keyboard letters q,w,e and r not working. I am using an external keyboard which is OK but not a good ergonomic situation. I have checked out the possibility of having repairs done in Hanoi but inquiries are not promising. A friend suggested service in Bangkok as a solution and I am considering flying there at Tet (VN new year) simply to get some Apple service.
I bought the iBook in Australia with the one year warranty plus two years of protection plan which finishes on February 22 2009. I have brought all the records and paperwork with me. I will be in VN for another eight months and would prefer not to have this ergonomic struggle for all that time. Plus arriving home with an out-of-date warranty and a computer needing repairs does not please me either. Is the Protection Plan really international? Will repairs cost extra?
I would be grateful for any advice about Bangkok service suppliers and any other repair information anyone can provide.

Thanks for that. I have not spilled anything on the computer, nor dunked it in any water, nor had any other accidents at all. Plus I have not loaded in any extra RAM. So there should be no problems with those issues. Maybe dust is the cause although I am careful to keep it closed when it is not in use.
I am using a cheap USB keyboard bought locally. It is fine except for the lack of mouse which means I must use both keyboards - hence the ergonomic complaint.
Will check out the places in Bangkok and maybe make some calls before I leave. But think I will still make the trip carrying the computer with me as just removal of the disc could simplify my life considerably - if I ever find the courage to try inserting another disc so far from a service supplier.
Must say that lack of service in VN is a strong reason not to bring a Mac here unless you are just travelling through. I have been here for 18 months and my experiences have been not happy.

  • Can I get Applecare Protection Plan even after the expiry of my base warranty of one year ?

I have just completed one year of my base warranty for my Macbook Pro 15'. I am thinking of going for Applecare Protection Plan however while checing online I realized that I can do that only when my base warranty is still in effect. Now as I have run out off that Can I still go for Applecare Protection Plan and is it really worth.

If your one year warranty has expired, then sorry you can't buy another 2 more years.
AppleCare certainly was worth it on my last MBP, it went in for a hard drive, optical drive replacement.
If you backup well, you should be able to take care of yourself.

  • I wish to get AppleCare Protection Plan and my Warranty expired a few days ago.

I got my iPod touch on 12th november 2011 as a prize in a Quiz Competetion. A few days ago I called apple customer support and they say my warranty is expired... According to them, the warranty started in February 2011 and has expired. I wish to get AppleCare Protection Plan and a customer support executive told me over the phone that I would get it but I got no follow up call. My Apple Support /case number is 292089289
I have got a dead pixel on my iPod and I wish to get it replaced. I hope something can be done.
    Thanking You

Check your warranty here: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do .  If it truly as expired, there is nothing you can do ablut it.  You ca no longer extend the warranty.  Otherwise people would wait to see if their iPod needed service beforing buying the coverage.

  • IPhone warranty is not extended despite purchasing Apple Care Protection Plan.

I ordered my iPhone 4S online together with the AppleCare Protection Plan. It is supposed to be auto enrolled so I didn't receive a physical copy of the code. However, my iPhone's warranty has not been extended. What do I do?

    Call Apple.
They will verify your serial number and they should be able to patch you through to the AppleCare department to get it all straightened out.
Do you have the 4S receipt? Did you get the AppleCare at the same time? It should be on your receipt but either way have the receipt handy when you call.
    Good luck.

  • Does anyone know the difference between the Applecare Warranty for the Macbook Pro and the Applecare Protection Plan Auto Enroll 607-8192-B APP FOR MacBook

Does anyone know the difference between the Applecare Warranty for the Macbook Pro and the Applecare Protection Plan Auto Enroll 607-8192-B APP FOR MacBook

AFAIK, the difference is that the auto-enroll occurs automatically when you purchase the device and you will have to disburse the cost right there and then. Whereas the other comes in a box, can be purchased separately later and you must manually enroll your device into the system to activate the additional protection. This must occur before the base one year warranty is over.
So, if you don't want to pay up at the moment you buy the computer, you can wait up to say 11 months and buy the AppleCare warranty extension later. Just be sure to complete the enrollment BEFORE the base warranty is over, else Apple will not honor the extension (all in the fine print). This applies to all devices that offer an AppleCare option: notebooks, desktops, iStuff, etc.
