Protection type for Acrive Data Guard

Hi all,
I am looking at implementing a 11G R2 active data guard solution and need to do live reporting from the physical standby database.
I need confirmation of the protection mode I will need. (I think it's Maximum Protection).
Many thanks
VicC

Sorry, I just realized that I misunderstood your Question as "What Protection Modes can I have with FAST-START FAILOVER".
For Real-Time Query, you can be in any Protection Mode.

  • How to add two protection mode in oracle data guard

    Hi all,
    We have a discussion on oracle physical data guard yesterday.....
    As we all know that data guard has 3 protection mode
    1. Maximum Performance
    2. Maximum Availability (Default)
    3. Maximum Protection
    Now we were discussing about is it possible to have two protection mode on same data guard simultaneously... for e.g. Maximum performance and maximum availability.
    We have searched a lot but don't find any help on google.
    Can any one help on this with any doc, pdf or links..
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi,
    you don't find anything on this because it's not possible and would make no sense even if you could do it.
    Maximum Availability uses SYNC commit between primary and standby db. If you combine Max. Availabilty with Max. Performance then your db clients have to wait on commit until primary and the max. availability standby have commited. That they would not have to wait on another Max. Performance DB doesn't change anything to the client. You would only combine the disadvantages of both approaches, the wait on sync commit for max. availability and beeing not in sync with primary for the max. performance db.
    The max. protection mode requires by definition that the primary db shuts down in case no standby can process the commit. If the primary is not up and running it is pointless to have another (max. availability) standby db at hand, if this max. availability db would take over the service this would violate the defintion of max. protection. No Dataloss is valued higher than db availability, having the data commited only on one db site is not allowed.

  • Power View in SharePoint Server - The data extension type for a data source is not valid

    Hi All,
    All of a sudden I am getting following error when trying to create Power View report using shared report data source (no error testing the connection):
    "The current action cannot be completed. The data extension type for a data source
    'http://dev/Shared Ducuments/Sales.rsds' is not valid for this operation"
    I already have a data source (I had created it after creating my site collection a week ago) and when I use this source to create Power View report then there is no error but I am getting above error when I create another similar data source and use it to create
    a Power View report.
    Please help me to resolve the error.
    Thanks

    I am going nuts! I had selected 'Analysis Services' instead of 'Microsoft BI Semantic Model for Power View'

  • Incorrect MIME type for XML Data Connection POST requests

    It appears that Xcelsius 2008u2019s XML Data Connection logic does not specify the correct MIME type for the data it sends to the server in its POST request.  Using an HTTP debug proxy, I was able to see that Xcelsius sends XML data in the POST, but is setting a content-type of u201Cx-www-form-urlencodedu201D.  According to the W3C spec:
      http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/interact/forms.html#h-17.13.4.1
    Data sent with a MIME type of u201Cxxu201D should be encoded as key?value pairs, like this:
      key1=val1&key2=val2&Submit=Submit
    So, what Xcelsius is doing is clearly incorrect.  Worse, if your server process is a Java servlet, you may find that the POSTed data will be gobbled up by the servlet container and you wonu2019t be able to read it using a getInputStream(), or getReader() call because itu2019s already been processed by a call to the getParameter() method.
    The correct mime type for POSTing an XML formatted request from Xcelsius should be "text/xml".

    Hi,
    The Error #2032 your getting is due to the Flash player security.
    To remove this this error you need one crossdomain Xml file in the root directory which actually provides a lot more control over who has access to your data from a SWF. The cross domain policy is attached as crossdomain.xml.
    In the XML file, it is used a wildcard (*). This allows a SWF located on any machine to access your data source. You can certainly use an IP address or domain name to restrict access rather to opening it up completely. I always start with the wildcard to make sure my dashboard works, then start restricting access as necessary.
    Here is a whitepaper with everything you need to know about Flash player security:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/flash_player_9_security.pdf
    Please let me know if you need any more clarification.

  • License for Oracle Data Guard

    Hi
    For a data guard solution, is the license including in the Oracle Data Guard package or we must buy additional license for the standby database ?
    Thanks.

    Hi
    I will do that.
    But i just wanted to know if a standby database means new license.
    I mean, when the primary database works, the standby database do nothing except get the archive redologs.
    And when the standby database is on, then the primary is down.
    So i didn't see why we'll need futher licences.

  • Looking for Active Data Guard in Oracle 11g Release 2 References

    I want to reach out to customers who have implemented Active Data Guard in production (preferably 11.2), so that we can develop some
    customer references that in turn will benefit other customers. The customers who get selected for such references may further be selected to publish their case study directly in oracle.com and/or invited as a customer co-speaker in the upcoming Oracle OpenWorld at San Francisco (Sep 19-23, 2010). Being a customer co-speaker at OOW means they get a free pass to the full conference (regular price for that is $1795-$2495).
    Please send any follow-ups to [email protected]
    Thank you.

  • Generic Table to a formal type - for master data user exit class

    Hello,
         I am attempting to setup an ABAP OO framework for extending master data with the CMOD exit, EXIT_SAPLRSAP_002.  My goal is to create generic base class, upcast to the actual extraction structure, apply the customizing data fields, and then return the full table to the exit.    The problem is that I_T_DATA, the internal table for return values is untyped and therefore generic.   I tried using a class parameter as “type ref to DATA”, but the upcast if failing is failing.  Can any one suggest:
    What parameter type should I use for the class method parameter?
    How do you upcast to the formal extract structure type?
    How do you assign the result back to the generic type?
    Thanks very much for the help!

    I ended up figuring out the answer after a bit more work.  In case it helps others, the keys points are:
    I_T_DATA exposed in EXIT_SAPLRSAP_00x is a dynamic internal table
    The reference to the table can be passed to a method parameter as a generic type, “TABLE”
    Though, to store the value in the class as a formally typed value, such as required by an attribute, the type must be cast to the type, “DATA”.
    For example:
    Public section
    Method CONSTRUCTUR
         IMPORTS
          PT_DATA TYPE TABLE.
    Assign data pointer to attribute
           GET REFERENCE OF PT_DATA INTO A_T_DATA.
    Endmethod.
    protected section.
      data A_T_DATA type ref to DATA .
    Hope that helps.

  • Return billing type for POS data upload

    Hi,
    From the configuration, it only available for one billing type for POS upload. If i want to separate another billing type for return, how can i configure it. Thanks

    Hi ,
          You can create your custom billing type by navigating below menu
    Goto SPRO->Sales and Distribution -> Billing -> Billing documents -> Define billing types. Here select any one of the standard SAP billing type (which ever is relevant to your business like FP for Interface
    Billing - POS system), then click on copy as button to create a new one enter then give name for your new billing type for example ZFP, ZRE and then save it.

  • Details on data types for posting data to DB2 on AS400 from XI

    Hi
       We have a scenario in which we post data from XI (3.0, SP23 ) to DB2 on AS400 and we are using jdbc adapters ( jdbc drivers from IBM deployed on XI J2EE server as per SAP's instructions )
    On AS400-DB2, there are two files F1 and F2  that we have to update in a particular library L1 - on a server S1.  Each of the two files has a single field with the same name as that of the file.
    I have the following questions :
    1. How do we construct/specify the data type in order to convert XML from XI to the sql that DB2 needs - I do understand there is a standard data type structure used to convert XML to sql calls when we use JDBC receiver adapter type communication channel. Do we use the same for posting XML data from XI to DB2 too ?
    2. What is the url for the jdbc driver - to connect to DB2 on AS400 ?
    Please share experiences of XI -- > posting to DB2 using JDBC.

    Used standard xml -->SQL constructs

  • What is the data type for the Data Dashboard XY Graph?

    Hey all,
    I am playing with the new Data Dashboard (!!) on my iPad 2 and am having trouble setting up the shared variables that host data to the XY Graph.
    On my PC, in my Project (inside of a variable library) I have set up shared variables for all of the other controls/indicators available in the app; They all work great. However, I have not been able to identify the data type that is for the XY Graph in Data Dashboard. Of course, inside LabVIEW, I use a cluster of 2 arrays; this is not an available data type that I can select while creating a new variable on the hosting side. I have even gone so far as to create a custom control from my XYGraph in LabVIEW and then creating the data type "From Custom Control..." with no success.
    What gives? Am I missing something obvious? Thanks for the help!!
    Tom
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Great question, Aerogoob.
    The XY graph can be bound to a 1d array of "points", where each point is a cluster of two numerics (X and Y). To create a shared variable of this type, you can set the data type to "From Custom Control..." in the shared variable properties dialog. Of course, first you'll have to build the custom control of the correct type: array of cluster of two numerics.
    If any of that doesn't make sense, please post back and we can walk you through it in more detail.
    Also, just for completeness, the chart indicator can be bound to a scalar numeric or to an array of numerics. The graph indicator can only be bound to an array of numerics.

  • Predicate value Type for Created Date column

  • How to use record type for inserting data into a table

    I've read through the web the following tip:
    "When working with a large number of columns, using variables of type RECORD is a better approach. With this approach, you do not have to list anything in the INSERT statement, because you are inserting a variable into the table that is defined as a row from the same table."
    I usually define a variable as
    r_mytable     mytable%ROWTYPE;
    and inside my procedure I'll set the fields I need as
    r_mytable.field1 := 1;
    r_mytable.field3 := 7;
    and then I perform the insert as
    insert into mytable
    (field1,
    field3)
    values
    (r_mytable.field1,
    r_mytable.field3);
    According to the tip I've copied above, how can I use the TYPE RECORD of pl/sql for achieving the same result but perhaps in a smarter way?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Ideal column type for Binary Data ??

    Hi there,
    I must store binary data of fixed length (e.g. IP address of 4/16 bytes) into a table and manipulate that table over C++ / OCI.
    The database server is running on either SUN/SPARC or LINUX/i86. The clients are running on a broad range of systems (NT/i86, LINUX/x86, SUN/SPARC, ..).
    I am worried about the OCI layer modifying char/varchar values while transmission ...
    Whats the best approach ??
    Use CHAR/VARCHAR or use the variable length RAW even for fixed length binary data ??
    Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    I guess RAW is the best approach
