Protective cap for power cord

Hi everyone-
I've lost the protective cap for the power cord, does anyone know where I can find some replacement ones?
Thanks
Aimee

You may be able to find one at an Apple Authorized Service Provider:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1434
They may have a few laying around. I used to make it a point to hold on to them with my first MacBook back in 2006. To be honest, I lost it shortly there after and I've never been very concerned about them with the few machines I've had since then. Unless you're keeping the charger in a very dirty environment or find that you're prone to spilling things... you shouldn't have any problems.

  • Protective cap for Macbook Pro charger?

Hello, I'm unsure if this has been asked already. I noticed when I plugged in to charge my macbook pro this morning, that the clear protective cap was missing. As of now, it is unprotected and was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a replacement cap for it or is it safe without it? I also already contacted Apple about it, and they couldn't help because they said that they don't carry them. Can Anybody help? Thanks

  • Flat iphone 4 dock connector protection cap?

    Hi there,
I'm looking for a protection cap for the dock connector/ear plug of my iPhone 4/4S.
I don't seem to find any that is not sticking out of the phone.
If anyone knows where to get a flat protection cap (preferably aluminum, so that it stays subtle), please notify me.
    Thanks in advance

I tested on mine to see if it'd work and it does. However it seemed to fit in weird and the adjustable arm on top seemed to move awkward when removing it like it readjusted itself to a lower position. Overall it seems to work at not harm the phone which is good.
Since I don't have a case for it yet, I'm extra careful mounting it and removing it. To remove it, I found it easiest to actually raise the top mount instead of just lifting the front "lip".

  • Longer power cord for airport extreme

I am needing a longer power cord cord for my new airport extreme base station Model ME918LL/A.  It's the cube one with the internal power supply.  It only comes with a six foot cord and I need at least 12 feet to place it in the optimal place in our office.  In suggestions where I can find a longer cord.  Amazon and tiger direct sale cords that look similar, but I want to be careful and fry it the device.  Has anyone else had a similar problem and where did you find a longer cord?

You  may have to reconsider the diameter of holes through which
the wire has to pass, or discover an alternative power source at
a nearer distance to the AirPort Extreme (with backup power &
perhaps a backup battery type of power unit w/ power filter.)
Part of the problem with distance and electrical signal over wire
is that a larger capacity wire is needed due to loss over distance.
The greater the distance, and the larger the gauge is needed.
A lower-than-specification power at the unit likely would result
    from too-long a power lead.
My AirPort units (Extreme and Express, in use) are protected by
a battery-backup APC or other automatic device that switches to
its own battery and takes the unit offline when power it too high
or when it is too low. And not one of the cheaper backup units.
So the issue isn't just a long cord, but one of significant better
quality than just a long cord of the same external diameter case
or layer of insulation over whatever gauge lies beneath.
That's a reason why the wire isn't longer; it'd also have to be larger
in wire gauge capacity and heavier. Then other costs would add up.
You may be able to ask a professional appliance company who could
look over the AirPort Extreme power cord and match the small end
where the unit plugs in, with one of a higher gauge wire (larger wire
so that's a smaller number wire for larger size/gauge; for the distance.
However you do it, have fun...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • What is the power cord for the airport extreme (A1354)?

What power cord and/or adapter is used for the 2nd and 3rd generation Airport Extremes?

My TC cable has 300v printed along it (just about read if the angle to the light is OK).
Also 120v @ 2.5 amps is roughly 240v @ 1.25 amps, so current draw is less on the higher voltage.
Should be fine, as long as the correct fuses are used in the plug. Which is there to protect the cable from wall socket to appliance and not the appliance itself.

  • HT201897 Does a Mac Mini purchased in the USA require a power converter for operation in Europe or should I only purchase a different power cord for it?

Does a Mac Mini purchased in the USA require a power converter to operate outside of the USA or can I simply purchase a different power cord for it?

Depending on which European country (should their mains access plug/port shape vary) the
cord set with correct ends on it has to match. You can buy a cord that plugs into the Mini
where the factory cord goes, and the other end has one for the wall source shape. The wire
for the application should be able to support 110~240VAC.
With the cord or an accurate image in hand, you could either get a new cable to match both
realities (mini + wall supply mains local) or an adapter (US/Standard to EU/Local) for just
the head or input part of the original Apple cable. One plugs into the other, then into wall.
If you have a new Mini with a small modular plug/port on the computer end of the power wire,
it would have only two holes and no ground; the other end would have two prongs of equal
shape and size. Not a polarized plug and not a grounded three-prong. To get a replacement
power wire for the MINI to go from power source to the Mini is recommended, if you are going
to be staying in one location for awhile. A Travel Kit that offers no electrical conversion but only
the physical shape adapter kit, should a available in travel stores, airports; big box discount
stores, computer and electronic stores. This page shows the cord end of the appliance shapes.
The other end would be the mains shape for whichever country you are going to....
    http://www.signalandpower.com/European-Power-Cords/
So to match the country or regional power mains type is a primary concern for obtaining the
correct replacement cord to supply the Mini with local mains power. The end which plugs into
the Mini is of a certain type (numbers for EU and elsewhere are published, see link + images)
& the end that gets plugged into the mains or utility side, needs to match the local specification.
The link to Apple, to contact for Support and Service information in prior post, should be able
to help find a source for the local replacement type cord they'd sell local people with a Mini.
Apple local sources offer replacements for this purpose; and for travelers, a second cord for
a direct use (not adapter plugs) is a better bet. For those who only need a cord in two places.
If you are traveling to Denmark, UK, Swiss or other EU countries require different adapters.
Even places where the power itself may be somewhat similar. However your MINI has an
automatic power supply that will conform to that energy standard, you only need to supply a
correct non-transforming adapter. Simply a connection to adapt one shape to another.
The general purpose travel kit that is not specialized to Apple power adapters, would have a
plastic plug/adapter with the local pins on one side, and the US/standard two slots on the other.
So, no circuitry nor any other change of electrical power inside this device would be required.

    http://www.signalandpower.com/Convert-to-Europe-CEE-716-plug/
    http://www.signalandpower.com/Swiss-AC-Power-Cords/
In other words, I believe my other post already covered this. On the ground on either end of the
path, adapters are common and the Mini does not use proprietary electrical components IF you
have one of the more recent shape aluminum models with the power supply built in. The older
Mini has the power brick and two wires. A US/Standard plug adapter to EU/Local would work in
either case, since all you'd do is plug the adapter plug into the local mains and the US plug into
that one... I see these kinds of discards for as little as 25¢ in thrift stores in Alaska. Or you can
buy a new one. Or you could get a complete cord with correct ends on it, for Mini + local mains.
Hopefully this helps somewhat. The only info missing is which EU country or region is involved.
Their shapes of plug are different, so the adapter end for local supply has to match their standard.
Swiss, Denmark, UK, and others offer different shapes and so on.
The Apple store in the location you are traveling should be able to supply you with a replacement
cable for a modern MINI, that has the correct local mains end, and the correct Apple mini end on
the opposite. Since the unit is automatically switching, the magic is done.
Since I supplied a means to locate any number of Apple stores, authorized service providers &
other Apple related vendors in my earlier reply: https://locate.apple.com/country you could contact
any of them along your route in the City in whichever EU country, to find a local MINI power cable.
    In any event, I'm done...
    Good luck and happy trails...

  • What do I do if I lost my power cord to my iPhone 5 and there are no lightning cords or adapters available in my city or on-line at the apple store for 2-3 weeks?? My phone is going to die - I have no way to get the new power cord.

I got the new iPhone 5 last week and have been happy with it. I went to the apple store on-line a few days later to order some adapters for the power cord, so that I could use it with my alarm clock and dock at work - although they are back ordered until nov.  yesterday I lost my lightning power cord and there are NONE available in my city and the apple store is till out of stock for at least a couple of weeks.  My phone now has 10% battery and losing last - what can I do to power my phone???? I use it for work, I need to have it working and available butndont seem to have any options.  Please let me know if there is another device I can use to power my phone!!

Sorry to tell you but unless you have a Retail Apple Store close by, they are the only ones I have found with all the adapters and accessories. I bought an extra lightning to usb adapter the other day to use in my truck. Good luck....

  • Is there anyway to either trade in your old Macbook Pro for a new version, or get a new power cord when the old one has been damaged?

Well i was just wondering.. since i do have a older version of the Macbook Pro.. and the fact that the power cord has been damaged

You can always get a price on what an Apple affiliate would give you for your old MacBook Pro by going to http://www.apple.com/recycling/gift-card/faq.html and reading the instruction for the reuse program. Or you can sell your old one on eBay (that's what I did - you'll get more for it). Apple doesn't do a simple trade-in.
Your cheapest route is just to buy a new adapter. If you don't know which adapter to get, call Apple and they can tell you, or visit your local Apple Store. They're about $80.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • MacBook goes dead as soon as power cord is unplugged..time for a new battery or other problem?

For months now my MacBook has been iffy with the battery percentage. It will show 2hours then within the next minute 25 min then 10 minutes then it shoots all the way up to 3 hours. Now it won't stay on unless the power cord is plugged in...and says "not charging" at the top of the screen. Am I in need of a new battery? Or is it something else? Have never had this problem before...my MacBook is approximately 3 years old...

You are posting in an iMac forum. I'd recommend re-posting in the MacBook forum.

  • Power Cord for Italy/Europe?

Hi folks. I have the 85w AC adapter with the power cord for the US.
I realize I can get an adapter for the plugs in Italy, but I was wondering if I could order the AC cord that goes from the wall to the adapter.
Basically I'm looking for the Euro version of 922-5463 AC Adapter Power Cord.
This isn't a huge priority, since I have the world travel kit and a set of adapters, but I figure since I'll be travelling alot (if I get the job) it might be a good idea to have the native cord rather than constantly use adapters.
I'd also like to keep the machine grounded as often as possible. The travel set doesn't appear to support grounding.

Nevermind, I found what I needed on eBay.
I went to eBay's Italian portal and searched for AC cord un the Apple section.

  • My laptop crashes - i think it's the power cord but i'm not for sure

I have a 2 year old Toshiba Satellite Laptop model # A205-S4707.  I bought it brand new in 2008, but I just recently started having this problem.  I at first thought it was a problem with the video card because what will happen is the video freezes up and will show different color lines or a black or blue box.  I thought the window air conditioning unit by my desk being on may have something to do with it because I started noticing the issue at the beginning of summer when I started using the window AC.  The problem would normally happen when it would be loading my programs when I first turn it on, but now it crashes 30 minutes to an hour or maybe 2 hours after I turned it on.  I than thought it might be my power cord since there's a couple places in my power cord where the inner wire is exposed,  so I taped the areas and plugged it back in and it still crashes, but not as much as it used to.  The other day it wanted to crash every time I tried to start my laptop up, and since it would just crash after 2 hours of it being on. And this morning it wanted to crash while loading windows twice when I had it plugged in, but when I unplugged it it's working fine.  Something tells me it's the power cord causing the issue - anyone else have any experience with this issue? If so, how can this issue be resolved? I can't go on depending on battery usage because I like leaving my laptop on when I'm asleep (I have it turned off when I'm at work - so it's on probably 15 hours a day).  If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it. My OS is Windows Vista.
    THanks,
    Mike

I have an 18-month P305 series Satellite and for a while (approximately 8-9 months ago) I couldn't figure out why my laptop would all of a sudden shut down while everything was working fine, or sometimes it even shut off when I press the power button to turn it on. My laptop was also acting pretty wierd with the Illumination Buttons, they wouldn't respond and froze, wouldn't light up after the computer has turned on and sometimes it won't turn off if the computer's been completely shut down, yes, the lights still stay lit afterward.
Just last week, when I was moving my laptop around to adjust for comfort, the thing shuts down on me again, this time I realized that the ac light had a 'quick' flick and this tells me that there is something wrong with power supply, either DC jack or the cord by the plug. I usually disconnect the battery when I have it plugged in to preserve the life of the cells. So when every time this thing becomes loose, the laptop would shut off. I was actually blaming the problem with bad BIOS and and maybe faulty updated drivers. The other day, I held the wire (by the socket and the fuse) and kind of twist and turn it and sure enough, I lost power, and the ac light flickered. I knew right away that was the problem. I found an identical original OEM power supply on ebay for $15 shipped, received it today and all is well. All this time, the culprit was the power cord.
My advice is to take the battery out and run the power from the AC cord, wiggle and turn the 'wire' slightly by the dc jack, also, test the plug to the DC connecter; hold the barrel (the plug socket to the computer) and wiggle it, if it doesn't shut off then it's the wire and you need a new power supply. Make sure you buy one that is of high quality. I recommend OEM for safety reasons.
