Protective cap supplied on powerbook power supply (the little clear one)

Hi
I have managed to loose the little clear plastic cap that goes on the power supply when it is not plugged in to the powerbook.
As I want to keep everything clean and dirk free, I am after a new one.
Any ideas where (in the UK) I can get a replacement?

Cheers for the help, sorry about the time delay in the thanks, but have been kept away from the net with the day job..

  • Need G4 Powerbook power supply replacement. Help?

I need a replacement for my G4 Powerbook power supply. My currrent one (over 2.5 years old) has a 'short' in it. Can anyone recommend where I can find either resonably priced:
    1) A factory 'Apple' powersupply exatly like the one I have or
    2) A '3rd party' powersupply.
    Thanks!

Not cheap - but i have a kensington adapter that includes connectors for AC, Car DC, and airplane power sockets.

The Magsafe autoswitches based on detected power.  You will likely need a wall adapter to alter ther US-based 3-prong to whatever is used in China.

  • Can I connect my thunderbolt display's power cable to supply power to the new retina display macbook pro?

I'm planning to buy a new retina display macbook pro, but I have a thunderbolt display and I use the display's power cable to supply the power to a macbook air. As the power connector on the new macbook pro is differet, It looks to me that I won't be able to connect it to the new computer. I'm I correct?

You'll just need this adapter, which you can buy or order with the computer:

I have purchase this from Dubai, UAE, some 2 years back.
I am NOT able to switch it on; when connected to power supply, the battery icon comes in but no signs of charging.
After some times the ‘Apple’ icon comes in. Tried simultaneous operation of Sleep and Power buttons, but of no use.
Sometimes a picture of cable and ITunes comes in; but not able to connect to
P C as there is no battery charge.

  • Protective cap for power cord

    Hi everyone-
I've lost the protective cap for the power cord, does anyone know where I can find some replacement ones?
    Thanks
    Aimee

You may be able to find one at an Apple Authorized Service Provider:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1434
They may have a few laying around. I used to make it a point to hold on to them with my first MacBook back in 2006. To be honest, I lost it shortly there after and I've never been very concerned about them with the few machines I've had since then. Unless you're keeping the charger in a very dirty environment or find that you're prone to spilling things... you shouldn't have any problems.

  • I upgraded my Airport Express from g to n and now my older desktop running 10.5.8 cannot connect even when I supply the correct password. Do I need to update the airport in the 10.5.8 system? What version is recommended?

I recently replaced my Airport Express (11g) to one running 11n. My iMac running 10.4.11 uded to work fine with 11g but now cannot connect to the 11n Airport Express.  I can see the network listed and it asks for a WAP2 password, but when I supply the password it fails to connect.
Do I need to upgrade the airport software on the iMac, and to which version.

    Tesserax,
Thank you for the suggestions. I tried first setting the radio mode to 802.11b/g compatible using the Option key hint that you supplied, but I got the same error message when I tried to join the network from my older Mac. (I apologize for saying in error that it was running 10.5.8, it was actually running 10.4.11--the last version that still supported Classic--and is a G4 PPC machine.)
The attempt to login to the network from the PPC machine gave me the standard log-in prompt, but I noticed that it asked for the WAP password, and my two other machines--both Intel MacBooks--get asked for the WAP2 password. The first time I noticed this I was still thinking the "error in trying to join the network" was a function of the 802.11n setup.
When your first suggestion didn't work, I reset the base station back to the original 802.11n (b & g compatible) but got the same error message--asking for a WAP password--so I went back into the setup, and selected the WAP/WAP2 Personal menu selection, restarted the base station, and was able to successfully join the network!
Your tip led me to the right place to fix my problem, Thank You,
    Bill Pratt

You may have saved a bad password so Firefox is entering that rather than giving you the option to try again. Go to Tools > Options > Security > Saved Passwords and delete the saved passwords for that site and then try logging in again.

  • I lost my ipad, and when i logged in to my apple account, i found another person email. what can i do to trace ? my ipad hasnt been registered with apple before i lost it, can i registered now (as i still have the package) and then supply the serial no.

Hi, just wonder anyone can help. i lost my ipad few weeks ago (already reported to police in UK but they arent helpful), and when i logged in to my apple account, i found another person email added to my apple account (but has not been verified). what can i do to trace ? my ipad hasnt been registered with apple before i lost it, can i registered now (as i still have the package) and then supply the serial no. to apple so they can block that ipad??
i am based in london, but seems now the apple account based in USA.. very strange.
i am using iphone as well, so beforei lost the ipad, when i download apps, it download to both iphone and ipad.
i am not sure what i can do to make apple aware of the lost ipad, as i havent registered my ipad before i lost it. or can i registered now and report a lost??
    appreciate any advice..
    thanks

The only tracking feature Apple offers is the one tied to your iCloud account (https://www.apple.com/icloud/features/find-my-iphone.html).  If you did not have an iCloud account set up on the iPad, or did not have the "find my iPad" setting enabled under that account's settings, then you cannot track it remotely.
There is nothing you can do but hope the police do something, or you find it yourself.  Apple does not get involved with lost or stolen property.
    see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2526
However, I hope you IMMEDIATELY changed your AppleID password when you noticed the added email - the only way someone could do that is if they know both your AppleID primary email address AND your current password.

  • Should SAP supply the password when they supply the credential file

I am configuring ADS for a client and they sent in an OSS message to get a credential file.  They received the file but no password.  Shouldn't SAP supply the password since they supplied the credential file?

Never mind....  They sent it in a separate email.  Just got it.

  • Will apple supply the OS X lion on the new iMAC's,or do we have to buy it

I plan to buy a new iMAC. Will apple supply the OSX Lion as a default with it or will I have to pay to upgarde from the snow leopard?

After Lion is released it will be pre-installed on new computers. Some inventory will remain with Snow Leopard pre-installed. In that case the purchased will get a drop-in upgrade redemption coupon enabling them to install Lion. See
The Mac OS X Lion Up-To-Date upgrade is available at no additional charge via the Mac App Store to all customers who purchased a qualifying new Mac system from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller on or after June 6, 2011. Users must request their Up-To-Date upgrade within 30 days of purchase of their Mac computer. Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac between June 6, 2011 and the date when Lion is available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from Lion’s official release date to make a request.

  • Should the FW 400 port be sending power to the FW HUB When the Mac is off?

The title says it all. I am using a refurbished 2007 Aluminium 20 inch IMac and after I shut down the Fire Wire ports still power the FW 400 Hub, is this normal? I have just stopped cutting power supply with surge protector because I was having trouble getting the Imac to start and leaving its' power supply on made the start up faultless. Could the "shut down" instead of "log out" be the cause?

Hey JustSomeGuy, thanks for solving the problem. The "cause" you were curious about is the choice when stopping to choose "shut down" instead of"log out", I'm not sure what the second one[log out] would do when I wanted to start the iMac again.
PS: my USB peripherals don't get enough power when the iMac is off to have them show lights indicating power, but I believe you are right. When I had the iMac in a surge protecter, so it was cut off completely from power it had BIG problems with starting up, for some reason the iMac must have access to power to always start up as it should.

  • G4 Ti Powerbook power only works when battery is removed.

My G4/15 Ti Powerbook's stopped booting on battery power. When I press the Start button, the hard drive starts to spin, then it quickly stops. The battery is fully charged according to the little green lights.
The Powerbook boots and runs reliably when connected to the power adapter, but only if the battery is removed. If I use the adapter and a battery is installed (even though fully charged), the G4 works for awhile, then shuts down spontaneously.
(When I'm plugged in and powered up with the battery removed, I have to use the Apple Menu Shut-Down command to retain the Date and Time settings. If I accidentally pull the plug, I have to reset Date and Time the next time I power up.)
What could be causing this puzzling behavior? The G3 Powerbook has a small battery that keeps the laptop alive between uses and retains the settings. Does the G4 Powerbook have a similar battery that might need replacement? What else could be the cause? Thanks for your advice.
    G4 Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Bob: It sounds as if all or most of your problems may be attributable to the fact that your main battery doesn't make or maintain reliable contact when it's installed. Why you "take that for granted" and blame it on the design of the Powerbook, when many other owners of Tibooks up to five years old are still happily using them without any such problem, is puzzling.
Did you perform the backup battery test described in the article I linked above? If you did, and your backup battery is still taking a charge OK, then the likelihood is that each time you transport your PB without a main battery installed, the backup battery is being drained again. This will happen if the moves exceed a few minutes in duration. The backup battery is really just meant to power your PRAM long enough to change main batteries when AC power is not available. It will only last five minutes or so in the absence of any other power supply. That is, you shouuld be able to move your PB from room to room without losing your PRAM settings (incl. date & time), but commuting to work probably exceeds the capabilities of the backup battery.
If your main battery's position in its compartment isn't secure, you aren't likely to be able to address your constellation of symptoms satisfactorily without addressing that root cause first. Depending on where the case is cracked and how much that has to do with the battery's instability, you may need to replace the top case.
What is the speed of your Powerbook's processor, and if it's a 667, does it have a VGA or a DVI port?
