Protective film cover.

Has anyone just left the protective film cover that came with the Touch on it?
What would be the disadvantage, if any, with doing this? Thanks!

Today I exchanged my Touch at Best Buy due to a damaged miniport, but there was someone else there exchanging his iPhone ... we were standing at the stations side by side and these two different employees were having a really good laugh because my Touch was technically out of it's 30-day return policy, but they did a straight exchange for a new one because the computer said it was still in the 30-day return ... though I bought it on Feb. 28th .
The iPhone guy bought his two weeks ago.
Mine was immaculate, with only a few superficial scratches on the edges of the stainless steel sides, and not a single imperfection on the face.
His had some pretty nasty scratches on the face and the back had DENTS and scratches.
I paid for the service plan.
He didn't. He also discovered Best Buy's 30-day return policy actually DOES have exceptions for SEVERE wear & tear.
Why spend $400+ on a phone and then treat it like a throw-away phone you bought at Radio Shack?

  • Is it possible to glue a protective film on the screen? Not hurt does it cover the screen

Is it possible to glue a protective film on the screen? Not hurt does it cover the screen?

You should only use Screen Protectors like these: https://www.belkin.com/au/IWCatSectionView.process?Section_Id=211415.
That are made for the iPad. If you glue something to the screen you will damage the screen when you remove the item.
This is a link to the Wikipedia article on what the Oleophobic coating on the screen is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lipophobicity.
I can't determine what the effect would be using a screen protector. If you glued something to the screen, you would surely remove this coating though.
Some one else in the forum may have more insight into the matter.

  • Is there a protective film on my T440s FHD touchscreen?

I just noticed that there appears to be a thin protective film over the screen of my T440s with FHD touchscreen. There are small circular cutouts over the camera and microphones. I called up tech support as was told to peel this off. However, when I tried peeling off the lower corner, it did not come off at all. I'm starting to think that I was given incorrect advice, and that the cover is part of the screen and should stay in place. Here is a picture of the cutout holes in this layer for the camera, etc. Any advice? Thanks.

This film should not be removed. It is not there to protect the screen, it is there to make it matte / reduce the glossyness of the screen. The support gave you a wrong information.

  • Protective Films (England)

Before I get my iphone, I want a protective film for the UK... Some brands are hassle to get here and I will not use eBay.
I basically need a front and back cover and maybe sides... I’ve come across ZAGG which is £18 but I here they have an orange peel effect. Anyone one got a better suggestion?

Hi have a front and back one both bought separately from ebay sellers. i have bought lots of different types in the past and these are definitely the best. They are totally clear, have no bubbles, if you apply them right, and are fantastic. I used the same brand for my 3gs also. The sellers name is digi-flexuk for the front ones, and first2save for the back ones. I wouldn't use anything else. I have read a few problems on here using the zagg, basically you have to be really careful with the spray not to get it in the ports. Hope that helps.

  • QR code on the blue pull tab of the back panel protection film on new devices

Has anyone tried to scan the tiny QR code on the blue pull tab of the back panel protection film?
I tried but it's too tiny for the camera to focus on it.
Does anybody know what it is?

You don't need to upgrade your software.  But if you're struggling with Spry, IMO you should cut your losses and switch to something better for the longrun.
If you have a budget to work with, I highly recommend Project Seven's Pop-Menu Magic 3.  It's easy to use in DW CS4, 5, 6 or CC.  More importantly, it's bullet proof and works in all devices.

If you don't have a budget to work with, you can roll your own menus with jQuery plugins.  A bit more effort on your part, but they perform better than Spry.

  • Best case and protective film for iPod Touch.

I had to good sense to get a protective plastic film and case for my nano when i got it two years ago. Its still more or less immaculate so i am thinking i will get the same for the iPod touch.
Can anybody recommend a good protective case ?
If i apply a thin plastic protective film to the surface of my Touch, will it interfere with the touch screen functionality ?
If anybody can recommend a good protective film i would appreciate it.
    Thanks.

  • Does removiing the protective film over the phone ...

    Hey guys
    How are you
    I've got a dilemma
Love the N8 capabilities and 12MP camera
When you purchase the phone, a protective film is placed over the screen, camera-flash and IMEI no.s
Now i like to ask Nokia and everyone out there as a consumer
Is there much quality difference between taking a picture with and without the protective clear screen over the phone's camera lens?
The reason i ask is that being clumsy and young, i might place my house keys in the same pocket as the N8 and might scratch the lens of the camera
If it doesn't make a difference, then ill leave it alone
But if it does then what measures should i take in ensuring i don't damage the lens of the camera
    Thanks

yes there it, it is not meant to be covered during a time that user purchases it and uses on regular basis. its just to be protected in transport and production. you can get a screen guard but i would not recommend putting anything on the lens as it is not meant to be covered.

  • About Lot 3x Film Cover LCD Clear Screen Protector for iPad Mini

I'm getting Lot 3x Film Cover LCD Clear Screen Protector for iPad Mini on eBay.com in the Mail tomorrow but i have 1 question if I Bring My Apple iPad Mini 16GB WiFi Only Tablet to The Apple Store tomorrow will they put on the Lot Film Cover LCD Clear Screen Protector on My Apple iPad Mini if i asked them to??? cause I Don't know how to do it, My House is Very Dusty yes even if i try to do it myself yeah i have to many Electronics in my house yes I Need Help, I Do have an Apple iPhone 5 64GB From Verizon Wireless should i try going there to if they can't help me at The Apple Store???
Sorry i'm being very Annoying to bother anyone here, i know you don't like it?

You know, it's ok to ask! If I was you, I'd try asking them at the Apple store or, if you got the iPad at the Verizon store, go there. It won't hurt to ask - just tell them you don't know how to do it and don't want to mess it up. It's a little difficult to do it right - I got that kind of thing for my Macbook Pro for the bottom where your hand rests and had a hard time putting it on. So, go ahead and ask. If they're too busy, read the instructions a couple of times and wait until you have plenty of time and are relaxed and try it yourself.
I know you can do it if necessary!

  • Protective film layer on ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch models

QuestionI just unpacked my new ThinkPad X1 Carbon touch and noticed that it appears as though the screen has a protective plastic film affixed to it.  It is most noticeable around the mic and cam, where holes appear to exist.
I can't find any documentation saying that this should be removed, and it's not easy to pry the sheet off at the corners (in fact, I've had zero luck, but haven't tried much because I don't want to damage anything). Do I keep trying to pry the sheet off or assume it's part of the design?
    Answer
There is a protective film layer that covers the display and should not be removed.
This extends over the viewing area and stops about 1/32" from the edge.   There are circular reliefs around the camara and two microphone ports at the top of the screen where this layer can also more easily be seen.

This film is unbelievably frustrating. I am switching jobs and chose to stay with the T440s under my new employment, although I had to get a new laptop. This time I chose to go with the touchscreen version, only to now see a film that causes graininess across my entire screen. I am coming from a T440s non-touchscreen with the AUO display (got lucky with that one) and that picture quality is exactly what I was wanting. I am highly disappointed in this unremovable film and will certainly be calling in regarding this. Is there any way to completely and safely remove it? I get the sense it is no more important to the screen than say a Zagg screen protector would be, IE touchscreen wll work perfectly fine without it, etc. Very frustrating as screen protectors like this ALWAYS cause some kind of disruption in the picture quality and I never saw mention of this film in any of the reviews I read about the touchscreen of this laptop.

  • Problem Using Power Support Crystal Film Cover (OT??)

Sorry if this is OT but I couldn't find any other categories it might fall under.
I got my iPod a few months ago along with the Power Support crystal film cover. I totally love it except for the 3D clickwheel cover. Since Day 1, it has not stayed on the clickwheel. I've cleaned both the clickwheel and the 3D film but it has never stayed on. It pops up (literally) when I press the button in the middle to select a song on my iPod.
Can someone please tell me how to make it stay on or if there is a way to clean it that'll make it stickier. The front and back covers work fine. Thanks a bunch!!

Apple is making the click wheel now, so the new material probably won't hold the plastic cover. Mine won't stick either.

  • Best Case and Protective film?

Thinking of upgrading from my original iphone and want to know the best case and film to get for the iphone 4
I came across a leather case from United SGP Genuine Leather Grip for iPhone 4
    (http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/reviews/entry/united-sgp-genuine-leather-grip-f or-iphone-4/)
But leaning towards something that will simply protect the phone from scratches, etc.
    Thanks in advance!

The two best cases are probably the BALLASTIC CASE and the OTTERBOX. Tom
