  • What are the different options for implementing web security?

    Hi,
Right now I am working on an internet website. We are using JSP for presentation and running Weblogic Application Server. I want to know different options for implementing website security. One of the options that I am aware of is to use LDAP. But we donot want to go and buy a LDAP Directory Server now. So I would really appreciate if somebody could let me know my choices here.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If you are working on a Windows 2000 platform, the most obvious choice would be Active Directory Server as this is shipped free with Server 2000. It is LDAP compliant, although does have a few differences that set it apart from the other X500 standard based solutions which I will mention in a moment. Details on these differences can be found at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnactdir/html/msdn_activedirvsnds.asp
Other options are openldap, an open source implementation of an ldap server or iPlanet's Directory Server. If you are initially doing an evaluation, a trial version is available of the iPlanet software and can be downloaded from their site. I found this particularly easy to get to grips with and their is excellent documentation available. There is also an offering from Novell, but I have no experience of this.
    Hope this helps.

  • Best practice for implementing Manufacturing Cost Planning ( MCP)

is there any best practice for implementing Manufacturing Cost Planning ( MCP) using BI-IP?

    Hi:
Both options are viable. If you reverse posting in FB50 then FI GL account postings will also be reversed and along with cost center postings. Hence here advantage is that cost center reversal will be with referenced to the original document with which wrong posting were made. Disadvantage here is that you will to post the entry again in FB50 . In KB11N you will simply transfer cost center amount from wrong to new one that should be in place of it but here you will have no reference . I personally think reversing posting through FB50 is viable options , reverse postings can be seen in KSB1 as well against that cost center.

The max OS for all Macs with a PowerPC processor is Leopard OS 10.5.x.
If you are going to consider getting a newer, but used, Mac, here's the requirements for Lion.
    Lion 10.7 System Requirements
        •    Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor (most models released since late 2006 - early Intel-based Macs with Core Solo or Core Duo processors aren't compatible)
        •    2GB of memory (recommend at least 4GB -- and ideally even more, as you'll see benefits in many computing tasks)
        •    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended) for Lion download from Apple App Store; or Leopard 10.5.x if using Lion on USB drive
        •    7GB of available space (10GB recommended)

      1. Is the BI in Netweaver 2004s is BI7.0?
    >> I read some posts before that the correct term should be SAP Netweaver 2004s; Whereas the SAP BW3.5 is referred to SAP Netweaver 2004. I hope I am not mistaken.

  • Is licence required for implementing JavaTv and JMF.

    Hi,,
I am trying to develop GEM middleware for my STB,
The STB has OS20 as RTOS and implemented on an ST chip
This GEM is DVB MHP minus DVB.
We have to implement JavaTV package and JMF for that,
But do we have to pay any royalty to SUN for implementing the JavaTV or JMF packages or can we implement the binary versions of the packages.
Please letme know how to implement the following packages
    org.havic.*
    org.davic.*
    javax.tv.*
    org.dvb.*
    and JMF?

    Hi Rohit,
let me also add a few words. In principle the process Sales Order Processing B2B with ERP sales order in CRM Web Channel means that you setup (a) Web shop(s) that use and display the CRM product catalog but create orders directly in SAP ERP without first creating them in SAP CRM. It also allows to use certain E-Marketing features of CRM in the Web shop. The CRM product catalog in this process can only be used if you do use the TREX. There is no way of directly call up the catalog from CRM in the Web shop by bypassing the TREX.
In the SAP E-Commerce for SAP ERP solution (ECO ERP) we in contrast offer the possibility to use the ERP catalog without the TREX. In this solution you can use the Memory Catalog which is not using the TREX. This solution by this way allows to directly use and display the ERP catalog and create orders directly in SAP ERP.
For the CRM catalog in contrast we do not have something similar to the Memory Catalog. Instead you DO need to use the TREX to display the CRM catalog in the Web shop.
The only option you have to "avoid" the TREX i a CRM web shop is what Easwar and Christoph have written about: The usage of an external catalog from a 3rd party catalog engine via the Open Catalog Interface (OCI) in the CRM Web shop. This we do offer for the CRM Web shop. However if you do not have an external catalog engine and want to use the CRM catalog then again you do need to use the TREX. It does not matter if you do not want to use product search nor prices other than fro ERP sales order.

    Jouni,
Good question. And answer is complex, there is in depth and there is in depth.
Most people would be satisfied by reading a summary of all the different components - encryption, hashing, signing, PKI, how IPsec and SSL/TLS work. This group also counts most of security CCIEs.
To this extent CCIE Security Study Guide (by Henry Benjamin) was a good read, if a bit outdated today.
Most people who are in depth will look first into specification.
    RFC 4301 (IPsec architecture)
    RFC 2246 (TLS 1.0)
Are a good start and contain references to other documents worth reading.
This is where the good folks will base their knowledge of off.
The really in depth people will look into the math behind it and will conquer topics like
Elliptic Curve Crypto ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elliptic_curve_cryptography ) and difference between CCM, GCM and CCB, to which you have really good materials published by universities.
There are relatively a few who know this.
To start with I can suggest:
    - http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~rja14/book.html (Ross' Anderson book is free, informative and suprisngly entertaining, this is a definitely a must-read for security/VPN).
    - Have a look at books recommended by Richard Bejtlich or Bruce Scheiner - while they might not be VPN specific it's a good security read most of the time.
I'll have a look at the books at home see which one can be interesting to read, and edit this post.

  • Do we need to install SAP Portal for implementation of ESS & MSS

    Hi All,
We are implementing SAP (ECC 6.0) for one of our client, Due to some contractual limitations, we do not want to implement SAP portal though it is a part of standard delivery, I want to know that is it absolutely necessary to install and implement SAP portal for implementation of ESS & MSS.
What i know and understand is that with the new architecture ESS & MSS can be deployed and accessed as a stand alone application on an internet browser by (Web dynpro client) without any need of enterprise portal. While ESS & MSS application can be hosted on Web application server.
Please validate my understanding if it is correct, Also does the new Web dynpro based client support all the functionality and authorization related issues for ESS & MSS ??
    Regards
    Amit Ajmera

    Hi Amit,
Yes, you can run ESS/MSS as WebDynpro application without having to deploy on Portal. However, the look and feel and user accessibility is much better when deployed as Portal page. For WebDynpro, you will still need to publish the individual URL link to application somewhere...
Another point is that on portal you can deploy standard Business package specific to ESS and MSS which contains lots of readymade iviews/page/roles etc so it can reduce your development cost dramatically.
But, at the end it all depends on your individual requirement and project scope.
    Cheers !!
    Satya.
PS: Points always encourage me to reply...:-)

    Hello Venkatesan,
There isnt a T-Shirt sizing available for a Solution Manager system per scenario usage. You will have to use the sizing tool available on the url : http://service.sap.com/solutionmanager --> Check the section Starting with EHP1 and under the planning section you would find the sizing tool.
Once this tool is downloaded you can then add the scenarios that you would like to use and plan your system accordingly.

  • Master data required for implementation

    Hi all,
We are going for a university implementation. Could someone tell me what master data is required for implementation from client. Like student data, learning content data, grading system,
My next question is which third party tool is good for library management & class and exam scheduling.
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Hi Vinod,
I need some information about the implementation of SLCM. I have found some standard documentation about the functions it offers, but they usually give an overview. I couldn't access any information on issues such as the technical prerequisites or how to implement it yet.
As no such project has been implemented in my country, I'll keep on doing research online. If you have any documents that would be useful to implement or at least to understand the implementation process of SLCM, they would be of utmost value for me.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi ,
Can some one guide me as to what are the settings that need to be done on the Oracle client & server machine for implementing Distributed Transaction .
    I have ODP.Net client 11 & Oracle Database Server 10g.
I read that I require Oracle Services for MTS to be installed on my system .
When I check the services installed on my machine ,I found OracleMTSRecoveryService (so i assume Oracle Services for MTS is installed on my system) .
I just can't figure out what part of settings I'm missing out ...
    Please guide .

    Hello TeamIn,
Please check if you are in the 32/64 bit situation in think KB:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/910907?wa=wsignin1.0 which is mentioned also in the link provided by David and you could confirm if there is 32/64 bit different version service on the
    azure forum.
    >>I am using Sql Server Express 2012 installed in an azure VM and App in Azure App services
I am not sure how the Windows Azure SQL Database is defined, you could confirm it on the azure forum if your database is already a Windows Azure SQL Database and if so, according to this
blog, it shows that the Windows Azure SQL Database does not support distributed transactions, which are transactions that multiple transaction managers (multiple resources).
