Prototype to management???
hello guys
reading some material....saw these words....couldnt find out what do they mean....all these come under
designing and implementing BW Solution....
1.identifying business case ..
2.prototype to management
3.proof of concept system design
4.BPD
5.BPD sign off.
thanks for your time and inputs...

Hi New,
These are terms usually used in BI implementation.
Identify Business Case: You will need to identify a Business scenario for which you wish to implement BI reporting. This is very essential as reporting should serve a business cause.help to take a decision etc.
e.g. PO Processing - implementing processing times of POs within your dept. Depending on the statistics obtained, you can improve your processing speed by taking some action.
Prototype to Management: Creating a mini implementation of a scenario. This could be a small part of your Business case. say in case your business case is as large as BI for procurement - then PO Processing could be a mini scenario. This can be showcased to management of your company.
proof of concept system design: Should be similar to above. A design to implement the scenario.
BPD : Blue Print Document
This is a rough diagram showing the various BI objects that will be implemented and showing the data flow to each of them. This will contain ODS objects, the data paths, datasource information etc. This would explain how the data enters the BI system and how it reaches the persistence layer(ODS, Cube)
BPD signoff - is done by Mgmt verifying that the design is ok and you can continue with implementation.
Hope this clears your doubts.
Cheers
Kiran

Use of PIR consumption for advance material order (MTO prototype)
Hi planing Gurus,
I am investigating the possibility to use PIR to trigger replenishement long lead time sub level mfg or purchase products in the context of building MTO prototype. I believe I could use planning strategy 70/consumption mode VSFB to handle eventual actual requirements that will be created at higher levels.
Q1. The parameters Fwd and Bwd consumption in MRP 3 are limitted. For instance, if I set 7 days each the system will only consider actual demand in this timeframe. I am not too in favor to set large value there to manage the fact that actual demand may not occur exactly as planned by the PIR. Is there any way the consumption can be iterative (eg. bwd 7, fwd 7, bwd 14, fwd 14)?
Q2. Is there another mean to trigger replenishment of long lead time mfg part/purch part in the contexte of MTO prototype and manage consumption.
Your help is greatly appreciate and speed up my curve to learn SAP PP architecture (I have experience with other mfg systems).
Francois PaquetYou had another question
Q2. Is there another mean to trigger replenishment of long lead time mfg part/purch part in the contexte of MTO prototype and manage consumption.
FOr this I would suggest even looking at Planning strategy (PS) = 50.
This strategy are probably the most widely-used strategies in a make-to-order environment.
Procurement of the long lead items (components) is planned by means of planned independent requirements entered at the finished product level. The system creates special planned orders at the finished product level for these planned independent requirements. These orders are only relevant for production once a sales order for the finished product exists.
The assemblies are, however, produced or procured before the sales order is entered. Production is carried out up to one level before the finished product level, and the assemblies and components required for producing the finished product are placed in stock to await the incoming sales order.
Final assembly is triggered once a sales order has been entered.
Hope this helps you take a good decision.
Thanks,

All,
I'm prototyping work manager configuration for our app under WLS 9.2.
I think I want 2 work managers: one for async batch-type operations and one for sync operations. The async work involves making parallel calls and not necessarily waiting for a response. The sync work involve parallel calls and waiting for a response (such as a web service request resulting in 2 parallel backend calls.) Mainly I don't want to allow the async operations to hog the resources and cause slow responses or timeouts for the users. At the same time, however, I don't want to articifically handicap the async processing during periods of low sync load. If I create 2 fairshare work managers with a 50% share each, during the night when users are not submitting sync requests, will the async batch work manager be allowed to scale up?
A long time ago I wrote a parallel processing facade that used a single JMS queue to achieve paralelism. I quickly learned the hard way that if you have parallel calls that call back into the framework (that is, thread A spawns thread B and C and waits for replies and thread B spawns thread D and E and waits for replies,) then you can wind up blocked forever because A can't complete without B, but B can't complete without D, but D can't run because A and B are hogging all the threads. Is this a risk with the WLS work manager? It seems that as long as I don't cap the thread count, then it might be sufficient to have just 1 big pool. My concern is what will happen when WLS decides not to spawn any more threads and instead just queues up incoming work?
thanksFirst Part:
If you are setting the fairshare to 50 % then the server will split the requests equally between the sync and async apps during a period of sufficient demand, with a steady stream of requests for each module such that the number requests exceed the number of threads.In this case the thread pool is equally utilized by each app.
Now, during the night time the sync WM is not working and this will free the thread pool for the async WM alone. The async work manager will utilize the whole thread pool and hence will scale up.
Second part:
Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think there is a point where WLS will decide not to spawn a new thread. Spawning threads is a continuous process until the server goes down. The self-tuning thread pool would also adjust its pool size automatically based on the throughput history that WLS gathers.
You will have to kill the stuck threads to free up the pool or setup a max thread constraint and allow only a limited number threads to execute requests. I think you would also need to setup a capacity constraint to reject all the requests that are queued up for work. -
hello guys
got little doubts while reading little documentation about project preparation stuff..
whats the meaning of
1.identifying business case
2.prototype to management
3.proof of concept system design
thanks in adv.
Regards,
S1.identifying business case
Functional spec are prepared on the base of the business scenario's and needs. So they need to identify the business case or scenario to prepare the funcitonal specs and there on it will be converted into technical specs which will go into live finally.
2.prototype to management
Implmenting a software solution into the business model is veyr expensive task and also it involves a lot of cost to the company. first to help make the decision to use the technology or not, then to help implement the technology in the current project...a prototype( example) has to be given to the management.
3.proof of concept system design
When engaged in a new project, the proof of concept design can bridge the gap between the requirements phase and the final product which will be delivered to the end client/customer.
Hope I have answered your queries. -
Hi guys
I have some general doubts about BI.
WHAT DOES the following terms mean?
1.Identifying business case
2.Proof of concept system design while implementing BI
3.prototype to management
4.sizing
I am thankful for your contribution.
Rgds,
SProof of concept is like doing the design cases before going it in client server.
Sizing is configuration of hardwares and software settings of BI before implementing the BI server.
there is a tool called quick sizer tool available in service market place. which is used for sizing of BI server.
you can use that. Hope this would help you. -
New window manager (with prototype!) [wmii-like] --- looking for help
I have a prototype for a new window manager in the style of wmii. It is called
cakewm. I currently have a prototype version implemented in pygame, and would
like help moving this to use X---making it a real window manager.
Disclaimer: I have a very limited knowledge of X11 and window manager
development. The most I've done is add a couple new features to wmfs.
To get the code
> git clone git://github.com/saikobee/cakewm.git
Then run main.py. cakewm depends on pygame.
Upon running, press Alt-Enter to fullscreen cakewm and intercept keybinds, or
Alt-Space to just intercept keybinds. Press Alt-Esc to quit. The window
manager related keybinds are listed in the file binds.conf.
Config note: <WSCA-x> means Windows-Shift-Control-Alt-x
Implementation note: pypixel.py is a large and mostly useless dependency. I
forked a library I made previously rather than coding straight in pygame.
cakewm's goals are to be similar to wmii, but with more functionality, easier
configurability, and saner defaults.
- cakewm is fully functional using the keyboard. Mouse support can come later.
- cakewm provides 9 workspaces per monitor.
- cakewm manages each workspace as a group of columns. Each column is like a
wmii default split, except each window can have other windows "stacked" on
top of or behind it.
- cakewm manages column sizes (and window sizes within columns) using a
master/slave paradigm, with the ability to adjust the size ratios.
- cakewm's configuration file is simple key=val pairs, with the ability to
include other files like in C.
- cakewm has a slightly larger emphasis on window decorations (adjustable
size---even in tiled mode) and themes (nothing bloated, like pixmaps or
gradients---it's all still simple colors).
- cakewm will have proper support for international text (Japanese text in
window titles or the wmii status bar generally render as boxes) through the
use of a more advanced text library such as Pango.

The thing about wireless, I actually like command line, but there are a few things that are worth having a applet or something.
And wireless is one of those. I guess I can take a look on wicd.
It's a good idea to have compiz as the WM actually. Would it be lightweight to have it like that?
Is there anybody here that uses compiz as a WM?
For the xfce4-panel, is it possible to get transparency on it? That's probably the only thing holding me back with xfce4-panel.
If "able to run compiz" wasn't a requisite, what other WM would you suggest for my "profile" ?
I would like to hear other users opinions who like to customize everything on a WM.
I recommend running Compiz by itself. There is a good wiki page on it in the Arch wiki. Some apps you'll want to go with it are:
LXAppearance --change GTK/icon theme
Feh or Nitrogen --Set Wallpaper
Xfce4-panel --The lightest one that works with Compiz properly
Or, if you don't want a panel: stalonetray
Compiz-deskmenu --For a customizable right-click main menu
Gmrun --Run dialog (Alt+F2 in most DEs)
And this helped me a lot.
Thank you all for the replies. I appreciate.
Xfce4-panel can have transparency. The only problem is that everything become transparent: text, icons, everything.
I use Compiz as a standalone WM and it is much lighter than DE+Compiz. My Compiz setup uses about 30MB(out of 1GB) more RAM than my Openbox setup (which are both the same except for the WM). -
Prototype for BMC Remedy using Oracle Identity Manager 9.0.3.
Hi,
I need to develop the connection prototype for BMC Remedy using Oracle Identity Manager 9.0.3.
Is there any trail version of BMC Remedy to download, if its there can any one provide the link to downloadThe connector usually starts by trying to connect to the target system so you probably won't get too much useful information into the logs if the target system isn't present.
I have built "faked" target systems for connections that uses web services as it is easy to generate a web service that just writes the content of the call into a log. Depending on what kind of connection technology the Remedy connector is using this may or may not be an option.
Best regards

Adobe Extension Manager CC Problems
I am running Windows 7 Professional x64.
I just joined the Creative Cloud. I am having all kinds of trouble with the Extension Manager.
1st. When I open the manager it lists "Others" under products.
2nd. If I try to install an extension in Dreamweaver CC a message box pops up that states ' This extension can not be installed, it requires Dreamweaver version 13 or greater."
I have Dreamweaver CC Version 13.1 installed. I have uninstalled Dreamweaver and the manager but get the same results.
3rd. If I try to open the exchange it just shows with the loading wheel till I finally close it.
I did not move any files when I installed them. I have checked for updates on all the programs.Thanks for helping. Here is diagnostics;

Solution Manager 4.0 Implementation Tools Experience Information
Hi,
We are looking at implementing the Blueprint, Configuration and Test Manager implementation tools for SM 4.0 to assist with our ERP2005 upgrade from 4.6C.
We have gone through pretty much everything that is available online for SM in SAP Service Marketplace and have taken SM training SMI310. We are at the next step of proceeding with the implementation.
I am looking for <b>anyone who has gone through an SM implementation</b> and can help with documented standards, templates and defined processes and user roles for Solution Manager implementation of the Blueprint, Configuration and Test Manager implementation tools.
Anything that can give us a better understanding and a head start to our SM implementation would be appreciated.Hi
To answer some of your questions:
Keywords: We have used keyword "In scope" on structure nodes (processes, process steps) to allow the consultants to add relevant processes and documentation which is not relevant for the current project but must likely will be later. The keyword can then be used as a filter when generating blueprint.
Furthermore we have used keywords related to prototypes - so it is easy to apply a filter to show eg. which scenarios/processes are included in prototype1, prototype2 and so on,
We have a long list of documentation types, based on the best practice templates. Too many to list here.
Solution manager keeps track of document versions (history), so we use the standard status codes: "in process", when worked on. "review", when submittet to approval and "released" when finished.
There is no technical difference between doing config from SM vs in dev system - as you basically access the img. But for people used to workíng in Dev system directly, it is a quite new way to work. And there are some configuration items not in the IMG - which then cannot be linked into SM.
IMG objects will appear in several processes, and one option is to link in the same img objects in several processes, and then place the documentation along with the objects in a way where the consultant use the "where used" function on img objects to check if it has already been used elsewhere, and then create a link to the documentation there, and work in the same document. But in several cases they would have to start a new document, if it is not logical to add to other documents containing info on how the img object is configured.
You can use the standard roles for application consultant and project manager - they should cover implementation needs.
Hope some of this information is useful
Regards
Lars -
Extension Manager not finding After Effects CC
Hey all,
I have been having a bit of an issue in regards to Adobe Extension Manager. I just installed the new CC version, and wanted to install an extension to Adobe After Effects. However, it does not show up on the Extension Manager screen:
As you can see, it shows some of my other CC programs, but not After Effects. I used Adobe Extendscript to print out a log. Can you help me figure out what I need to do to install this extension to After Effects?

What should I do to get that showing up on the CC Extension Manager?
Thanks,
Sam KramerThis is as designed. Extension Manager doesn't support After Effects. If the extension you want to install is a .ZXP file, you can install it anyway. I guess it will be shown in "Others" after installation.

Hello i needed to install an extension for dreamweaver and for some reason extension manager does not see all my adobe programs. How can i fix that without reinstalling the programs?

Pixie - photo management app for minimalists
Hey, I started working on a personal app for managing my pictures and generating albums.
Upon talking about it with colleagues it seems a lot of people struggle with the same problems so this may be just what you need.
the idea is pretty simple:
* small webapp (golang backend + angularjs frontend) that you run locally, it loads pictures from given "source" directories (those source directories are basically copies of the DCIM directories of your camera's, phones, etc)
* using vim-style keybinds you can navigate, and add/remove tags to pictures. the UI is supposed to make this as painless as possible.
* also with keybinds, you can spawn your image editor to create edits of pictures (which go in a different dir) and tag those
* finally, after you tagged pictures, you use shellscripts that go over all files matching certain tags and generate albums from those. For now it just symlinks the originals but I want to add something to resize them as well.
The code is here: https://github.com/Dieterbe/pixie
I had a functioning prototype at one point but then I did an optimisation to only include a subsef of images in the DOM (the active one + 7 before it and after it), and since then "auto scroll to the active picture" is broken. Because of that issue, the app is not very useable right now. But I hope that amongst the people who are interested in the app, there's somebody who's good at DOM/js/angularjs stuff, and could help out with the UI side of things.Trying this out, but I'm completely unfamiliar with Go. Without spending a couple hours wrapping my brain around Go packaging, is there a quick fix for this:
pixie $ go run pixie.go
pixie.go:10:2: cannot find package "github.com/Dieterbe/gothum/workers" in any of:
/usr/lib/go/src/pkg/github.com/Dieterbe/gothum/workers (from $GOROOT)
($GOPATH not set)
backend/backend.go:8:2: cannot find package "github.com/mattn/go-sqlite3" in any of:
/usr/lib/go/src/pkg/github.com/mattn/go-sqlite3 (from $GOROOT)
($GOPATH not set)
pixie.go:12:2: cannot find package "github.com/stvp/go-toml-config" in any of:
/usr/lib/go/src/pkg/github.com/stvp/go-toml-config (from $GOROOT)
($GOPATH not set)
I've git cloned pixie and gothum, installed go and tmsu-bin (the tmsu package failed installation. This also pulled in go-fuse and go-squlite3). Not sure what to set for $GOPATH and/or $GOROOT. I've got pixie and gothum extracted to ~/.local/tmp.
Looks like an interesting project! Thanks,
Scott

How to download the database form the call manager 7 to excel?
how to download the database from the call manager 7 to excel document?
No, it never did - the "ask" for the DRS folks to provide unencryption capabilities for their TARs is still out there (several other BUs want this) but so far as I know there's been zero movement on it. I've about given up hope on the DRS folks at this point - pretty clear this isn't a priority for them and I don't see much in the way of any kind of improvements on the product schedule for them at all, this included.
As a side note I've been pushing the Connection product managers to give us off box file system access to limited directories via a proxy service and roles (i.e. similiar to the ODBC proxy but for SFTP access) - armed with this we can provide our own (far superior) disaster recovery tools that work on a pull model instead of the full push DRS is built on - this would get partial backups, individual restores, about 6x increase in performance (more actually - I have a prototype that is hovering right around 10x the speed of DRS end to end), smaller backups, requires less space and resources on the server etc... etc... Fun stuff like doing a full backup on Sunday mornings and deltas every day of the week after that and another full backup Sunday etc... would be possible. Imagine.
I'll probably get more traction with that but it's a long road I'm afraid - as ever, asking your account team to enter a PERs helps - makes it more difficult for the product folks to delay on assigning engineering resources to such efforts. -
Java.lang.VerifyError in code generated by Prototype 1.2
I managed to get a java.lang.VerifyError from a class generated by prototype 1.2. A short test case follows: (It looks like the compile knows it can call .intern() on the result of the
?:, but the verifier thinks the bytecode does something wrong..)
import java.util.Stack;
public class Case
public static void main(String[] argv)
Stack<String> bar = new Stack<String>();
String foo;
// Compiles, but causes verify error
foo=(bar.empty()?"":bar.peek()).intern();
// The following two work fine
foo = (bar.empty()?"":bar.peek().intern());
foo = (bar.empty()?"":(String)bar.peek()).intern();Hi,
I've noticed the same behaviour (java.lang.VerifyError) with code that uses extra parentheses on the return
statement, i.e.:
return(object);
instead of:
return object;
Interestingly, parentheses also seem to affect your above example. If I change it as follows:
public class TestGenericsBug
public static void main(String[] argv)
Stack<String> bar = new Stack<String>();
String foo;
// Compiles, works fine
String tmp = bar.empty()?"":bar.peek() ;
foo = tmp.intern();
// The following two work fine
foo = (bar.empty()?"":bar.peek().intern());
foo = (bar.empty()?"":(String)bar.peek()).intern();
The code compiles and runs. If, however, extra parenteses are added:
package test;
import java.util.Stack;
public class TestGenericsBug
public static void main(String[] argv)
Stack<String> bar = new Stack<String>();
String foo;
// Compiles, but causes verify error. Extra Parentheses ?
String tmp = ( bar.empty()?"":bar.peek() );
foo = tmp.intern();
// The following two work fine
foo = (bar.empty()?"":bar.peek().intern());
foo = (bar.empty()?"":(String)bar.peek()).intern();
The bug is back!
