Provide the patches!

I have been trying in vain to get Oracle 8i, 9i, and 9iAS working on a linux server I have. I do not have a support contract /w Oracle, and thus cannot access MetaLink to download all the patches required.
At this point in time, all I can say is that without patches, Every single piece of Oracle software downloadable from this site is USELESS. The one exception is 9i, which I was able to install with almost no incident. 8i cannot install correctly, and neither can 9iAS or it's supplimental tools such as Email Server.
I have spent weeks trying to get the the stuff to work so that I can learn it and become certified, but everything I do ends up at a dead end because I run into a problem that requires a patch.
I have even submitted a TAR, only to be told by the tech staff that I need a service contract to access the patches.
I'm sorry, but I don't have several million dollars hanging out of my back pocket to spend on purchasing Oracle. How does Oracle expect people to learn their software like this?

To clarify, I have tried speaking to someone at Metalink, and even tried opening a support case with ePeople. Both said that I cannot get any assistance because the software is provided 'as is'.
This is like holding a juicy steak in front of a hungry dog and saying, "You want it? You want it, boy?", only to take it away again.
I find this absolutely ludicrous. Oracle/OTN should either also provide a comprehensive set of the patches, or not bother providing the software for download in the first place.

How long the patch will be provided for flash 10

We are using Flash Player 10. Now Adobe is provide the patch of Flash 10.HDoes any know how long the patch will be provided for flash10?

As you've noted, we are currently updating our 10.3 release with security fixes as they become available. There's been no announcement of this being discontinued so I would expect the process to continue for the time being.

Check the current value of IGW_AWARDS_S sequence and make sure the MINVALUE in the patch (i.e. 10000) is not greater than the current one.
OERR: ORA 4007 MINVALUE cannot be made to exceed the current value (Doc ID 19824.1)

Error in applying the patch to OBIEE 11.1.1.6.8

When I try to apply the opatch apply command,   below is the error I am getting. I am not able to find the resolution for this. I am not understanding the problem by looking at this.

I have installed OBIEE 11.1.1.6.0 version on windows 64 bit machine and later on I tried to apply the patch to upgrade it to 11.1.1.6.8 . Once I received above error , I thought of cross checking the PATH & Java_Home environment variables from my machine and below are snapshots of them.

This note describes the problems with SP dependencies , the recommended SP queues etc.

Mismatch between the patch version

Version 2.18, next step, next issue. Got through the 'Do Setup' step on "9-Apply DBA CUP and related patches" with a bug workaround that was provided. Now went to the next step of 'Do Execute' and it is failing with the message below. I've done some inital searching and haven't found an answer. There was one note on MOS about a very similar issue but it was resolved in 2.16. Posting here whild I spend more time researching and trying to figure out the reason. I also reviewed my notes from when I did this upgrade manually and these mereged patches were not applied in preinstall mode as the message is saying has to be done. Any help would be appreicated. Thanks!.

Staff: Why is there no offline installer for 10.1.5? The patch doesn't work for me.

Hi, I'm trying to update Adobe Reader 10.1.4 on a 32-bit Windows XP SP3 computer to Adobe Reader 10.1.5. The Adobe Reader Updater downloaded the update but it tells me:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable"
It's looking for AdbeRdr1010_en_US.msi in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\ARM\Reader_10.0.1\ but it can't find it.
Normally in a situation like this I could just download the offline installer, and as an enterprise user I want to do that anyway. Yet it appears there's no offline installers in ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.5/ like for example AdbeRdr1015_en_US.exe or AdbeRdr1015_en_US.msi. On Adobe's pages for both enterprise and home users it only offers 10.1.4 as the older version prior to 11, not 10.1.5 as one would expect.
What's going on with this? Am I the only one who's noticed either of these things? I suppose on that one computer I'll have to download AdbeRdr1010_en_US.msi and place it in that directory where the patch is looking for it.

I'm not sure what you mean by an offline installer, but the available updates, the admin guide, and the release notes are all correct. 10.1.5 is an update (MSP). It is not a full installer. As stated in the doc, full installers are not always provided. Also, full installers or updates don't have any online dependency.
You can install 10.1.5 over that last relevant msi/exe. That's 10.1.4 for some languages but usually 10.1.
Alternatively, you can get a non-enterprise installer from the Reader Download Center. You can probably expand the exe to get to an MSI. That's an atypical route most enterprise admins have not found a need to travel.
10.1.6 will also only be an MSP update.

The patch files contains what I think it should contain based on idealbsd's comments on the AUR page (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … =1&ID=8101). Now, when I try to apply it it gives me the following error:

I am not that good at compiling software, so i would appreciate any tips. From searching around on google, I think the src/Makefile.in is maybe different than the one idealbsd originally patched, but that's just my uneducated guess.
Incidentally, the package will compile even without the patch. The patch is supposed to get gs-gpl to recognize usual fonts directories, which is definitely desirable.

Okay, so I obviously did some hacking at the original patch that I shouldn't have. My bad, idealbsd. I got it right this time. The problem was that the text on AUR page was malformatted (probably because of the width constraints of the text box) and I thought something was wrong, but I was wrong about what was wrong. Uh, so confusing.
Anyway, I got it fixed, and will upload the tarball soon.

Error installing KB3025390. Now cannot decline the patch.

I am running SBS 2011 Windows 2008R2.
Patch KB3025390 was pushed through by WSUS. When I tried to install the patch it failed. I then downloaded the patch from the Microsoft Download site and tried to install it. It failed again. Now I cannot decline the patch in SBS Console > Updates. It
just shows up under errors.
Does anyone know how I can either get this patch installed or declined?

Based on your description, I understand that you failed to install the KB3025390 when it pushed via WSUS. Then
directly download the update from Microsoft site and install again. However, still fail to install the update.
Did you install any third-party application on the server? Please perform a
clean boot and check if this issue still exist. Please also run
SBS BPA tool and check if find relevant issues.
Meanwhile, did you get any error message when failed to install this update? Please also check
CBS and WindowsUpdate log files if find more clues.
For WSUS, please refer to following article and repair WSUS, then check if can help you.

for this component.

The workaround is to safely ignore the error.

Ther is no log for it... its just through error message... by the way i run /runinstaller from my r12 oracle_home/oui/bin and show xml path where i unzipped oracle vault folder .
If i try to run /runinstall from oracle vault folder its gives me that error:
Your db version must be atleast 0.2.0.3 or higher...
My oraInst.loc shows true patch and value of. my db version is 10.2.0.3...
This server has r11 and discover too.. somehow OUI cant see my db version

The following Oracle OTN link provides a misleading product. It says that the following link provides the Oracle 9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard/Personal/Client Edition for Windows Server 2003 (32bit) and
what it contains is the OUI for applying the 9.2.0.3 patchset and the patchset itself. It does not contains the product.

As far as I can tell there doesn't appear to be an Oracle10g download for
10.2.0.4 for Windows 2003 Server. It looks like you have to download 10.2.0.1
for Windows then apply the patch to bring it up to 10.2.0.4.
Am I seeing this correctly or am I missing something?

Indeed you are; your eyes are definitely not lying to you. 10.2.0.4 is a patchset which can only be applied to an already existing Oracle Home.

Looking to get the patch for OC4J MDB problem

I am looking to get the patch to fix the problem with oc4j 9.0.2.
The problem can be replicated very easly by forcing MDB to raise the EJBException or
calling setRollbackOnly() in the onMessage method. At this point the container should send a rollback
message to the provider. Intead its erroring out. Can I get a definite date when we will be able to
download the patch and if the 9.0.3 will fix this problem?

Hi Mark,
I recall (I think it was on this forum) someone saying that the
9.0.3 production version of OC4J should be released by the end
of August, and that the problem you mention is fixed in that version.
I don't work for Oracle -- so don't quote me -- I'm just relaying
information I have picked up.
I get the impression that Oracle are not going to release a patch
before releasing the 9.0.3 production version.
