Provider Speicifc Properties on MultiCube and constant Selection in Query

Hi Experts
I are using BI 7.0, just upgraded to SP24 and having an issue with a MultiPrvider. All of this worked great before the upgrade. Here are the symptoms I am experiencing. This MultiCube has 2 InfoObjects where "Provider-Specific Properties" are set with a constant value.
1) If I display data on MultiCube I can only get consistent results if I chose for "Field Selection for Output" and select All SID fields. If I don't get any results if SID fields are not selected for display.
2) Query on on MultiCube has a Res. Key Fig. using constant selection on Infoprovider plus other Infoobjects. When I execute I get a dump with errors Brain 222 ( referencing the 2 objects that are set as constant on MultiCube, as well as Brain 635 . I have researched both have not yet found anything helpful. Query does execute if I take off the constant select on Infoprovider but then don't get results I want.
I have tried to re-activate MultiCube. I got warnings on CMP error and inconsistency and messages R7I 114, R7I 127 but activation was successful.
I would be very grateful for any suggestions.

Can you try log out and re-login??
As well when you display DATA, first of all
1. it ask you select necessary field before you go for FIELD OUTPUR FOR SELECTION
2. Overthere in SELECTION top menu, SELECT the second SELECTION menu, and select option "SELECT CHARACTERISTICS" which is the first one.
3. THen enter
4. now you go to the screen for FIELD OUTPUT FOR SELECTION, in that Select 4th option "SELECT ALL CHARACTERISTICS"
and then execute..
just give a try..
not sure how far it helps..
May i know the restriction which stops you running the query..?
try the constant selection on only one object and try...

Hi,
For ex if you had designed a MP using the IC's and DSO's in which if all the fields are not in common with both the info provides used in the MP you will get the results in 2 rows and the values for the ones which are not in common will be displayed as # in the results.
This can be the case in Infosets as well.
to over come this we use "constant selection"

Percent and Constant Selection

I need your advice concerning a BEx Question.
I have created a query like this :
- 2 rows defined by restriction with constant values on the Cost Center characteristic
- 1 Total Row done by formula = Row1 + Row 2
- Key figure 1: 0QUANTITY
- Key figure 2 : This quantity in %.
What i did :
Row 1 = Selection on 0COSTCENTER for A,B,C values
Row 2 = Selection on 0COSTCENTER for D,E,F values
Row 3 = Formula = Row 1 + Row 2
Key Figure 1 : 0Quantity
<b>Key Figure 2 : i don't find how to create this percent.</b>
The famous SUMCT & SUMGT functions doesn't work because i use selection in the rows so there is no Total line.
Coud you give me ideas or maybe you already have solved this problem ?

I used the "Define Cells" button in the query designer (between "properties" and "conditions" buttons).
I verify every day the sentence :

Constant selection and Reusability

Hi Gurus,
In BI 7.0,I am facing following problem.
1.I am using characteristic say ZSITE as constant selection and we use the data in a particular report.
In Other report we are using ZSITE and expected to see different data but we are getting constant selection data.
Is there any way that characteristics can be used differently in different reports?If so can anybody give me some idea please.

you are talking abt constant selection in transformation/UR/TR or in Bex. If it is hard coded constant in Back-end then the same value will be used in all query as it is attribute.
if you are putting constant selection in query then i guess it shouldn't be a problem because you define the constant selection in KF property locally in query designer.

Constant Selection - Performance hit ?

Hi,
I would like to know about the effect of using 'constant selection' on query performance?
I have a resricted key figure, restricted by 6-7 characteristics, with 'constant selection' marked for all of these. I have about 10 RKFs like this in the query definition.
How does this affect the performance. I read somewhere, but dont remember, that infact it slows down...Would like to hear what experts in there think about this.

With Constant Selection, the restrictions in the key figure are NOT affected by the navigation and filters.
Shooting from the hip, I would say performance impact really depends on the restrictions of your constant selection vs other navigations/filters.
If your constant selection restrictions are much less restrictive than other navigations/filters, the query has to read the larger amount of data to satisfy the constants, e.g. you query a particular Bus Area, but RKFs with constant selection do NOT include the Bus Area filtering, the query will have to read all Bus Areas.

Multicube and Cube and Cache

Hi All,
I have a issue with Multicubes and Cubes.
A query has been copied from a cube on the multicube.For this query on the cube, cache memory can be used. For the query on the Multicube cache can not be used.
(We can find these details using transaction RSRT)
Also the technical details find out that there exist a VKF for the query on the Mcube but not on the cube.

Constant selection and authorizations

Hi,
I've made a query for displaying some selected figures for our company's health and safety managers.
The query is displayed with 0DF_FORCE in the rows as a hierachy and in addition to needing a role for displaying the query at all, the users are restricted to "their" part of the hierarchy using an exit variable with lookup in a nav-attribute to 0DF_FORCE. This all works fine, the problem is that I want to use the number of workdays in a given month for sickleave % calculations. I tried making a formula variable exit for this that will return the number of workdays in an variable intervall given at query start. This works, but I'm then not able to drill the query to spesific months, since the formula variable does not respond to calmonth.
Alternativly I tried putting the number of workdays into a DSO and linking to calmonth there. That solves the navigation, but now I have a problem with constant selection. I need the number of workdays for every force element in 0DF_FORCE. Since the DSO does not contain this characteristic, it needs constant selection '#' on 0DF_FORCE within the restricted keyfigure for workdays. And here's the catch, the intended users do not have and cannot have authorization for force element '#'.
I would appriciate any leads on developing my current logic, or a new tack for displaying number of workdays pr month without conflicting with said authorization limitations.

SAP haveth in their glory created 0numwday as an attribute to 0calmonth as of jan '08. That they haven't documented it at all, did that it took some time to discover, but that's bygones. What it means is that I can make a replacement path variable on 0calmonth instead of my keyfigure and avoid the whole issue. Hurrah!

example for the use of standard aggregation and exception aggregation for a key figure is a key figure for the non-cumulative value
with non-cumulative values such as warehouse stock, you want to total up the warehouse stock for various articles and warehouses (standard aggregation), but for the month you want to determine the ending inventory (LAST aggregation) (exception aggregation in regard to the time characteristic Calendar Month)

Reset provider-specific properties back to default

Hello community, I could use some quick help with something. I have changed the Description of an characteristic specific to a DSO (when in change mode in the DSO, right-click characteristic, select "Provider-specific properties", and change Description). I now want to reset that back to the default characteristic description.
I have tried clearing the value in Description, but that doesn't work. Any ideas how to do this?

if not yet the saved the DSO after changing description it will show old description.
after save the DSO it will show the new description.
you want old description again go to change mode -> give the old description -> save.

No CSS properties apply to the current selection

I have a style sheet in my root directory. It is showing as being connected to my html page. It is written in with <link href="_css/main.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css /">.
In my Manage Sites section it is shown in "Advanced Settings" > "Local info" > "Site-wide Media Query file"
Despite all that when I click on any element in the Design view with either my CSS "Current" or "All" selected it keeps showing the error "No CSS properties apply to the current selection"
I have studied other sites of mine line by line where it works and compared it to this one and cannot see anything missing.
So I really would appreciate being pointed in the right direction.

I don't know as I apply all css manually BUT you have a / after css in the link to the stylesheet you provided below (if its not a typo) which may be causing the issue:

Constant Selection in BEx Query Designer on BI7

Hi guys
According to this blog <a href="/people/prakash.darji/blog/2006/09/19/the-hidden-secret-of-constant-selection Selection</a>, we can create constant selection on both Characteristics and Key figures. I understand how to do it with restricted key figures.
Can anyone give me a step by step guide on how to create constant selection for a Characteristic in BEx Query Designer on BI7. I can't find options for 'constant selection'
Or is this the same thing when you include or exclude values?

I am actually using a Multiprovider for my queries but business requirements mean I need to create joins.
I am trying to avoid Infosets and I believe another way is to use the Constant Selection feature in Query Designer.
Going back to my previous posting, I know how this is done with a restricted KF but I don't know how when it comes to characteristics.
Can anyone help?

Not Able to Access the Properties of Workspace and Target

I have install PB 11.2 Build 9027 on my laptop ( Winows 7 (64 bit))). PowerBuilde is open and able to see the existing code.
But when I am trying to access the properties of Workspace or target for Source code control Setup, Properties will not come and nothing happen, I am not able to view the properties of Workspace and targets.
One more think I notice ,when I was trying to create new application (File > New > Target Tab > Application) then window will not open.
Please provide me some suggestion on this issue.

Hi,
Why don't you just transport it? If it is linked you can asked basis to set the transport part and link it. If it is not you can download the transport and import it on another system.
If you still need a program to do that. You can use SAPlink on [http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ABAP/SAPlink]. SDN provided such code already just download it and implement it on both of your system then you can copy a program with selection screen.

Acrobat pro: how set default properties for arrow and line tool seperately?

I have a problem with the 'comment and markup' tools in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
I would like to change the defaults of some of the tools, eg the arrow and the line tool.
This can be achieved by right-clicking on something drawn using the tool in question and then selecting 'properties' - or by selecting the tool and then press ctrl+E, wich opens a 'Callout Tool Properties', and then change what you want there. The latter option keeps the changes as defaults - the former offers a box to tick in the 'properties' dialogue that opens - or, you can right-click on the object again after having changed the properties, and then select 'Make Current Properties Default'.
My Problem is now, that, apparently, you cannot choose and save default properties freely and for each tool. I woul like to have the default properties for the line tool set as the following:
-line color: yellow
-line thickness: 8pt
-opacity: 60%
and fot the arrow tool as this:
-line color: red
-line thickness: 1pt
-opacity: 100%
This all works fine as long as the program is open. As soon as I exit and start it again opening another document /the same one again, the arrow tool changes to
-line color: yellow
-opacity: 60%
only the line thickness remains at 1pt.
If I change the properties of the line to the ones I want for the arrow, the arrow properties remain unaltered if I close Acrobat Pro.
Why do these properties interfere? Why is it "line color/thickness" in both? Why, then, do only the opacity and the color interfere, but not the thickness - even if it's the latter two properties that are bot called "line xxx"? Why does Acrobat not save all properties for these two shapes seperately - even IF the two shapes are both of a line-like kind?
Is there a way to get around this?

Trobbel - This indeed is puzzling behavior. Clicking 'Make Current Properties Default' should preserve the default appearance for each. I don't have a solution, but merely a couple of suggestions:
1) Make sure you have installed any available upgrade for your version of Acrobat Professional.
2) Consider using the line tool exclusively - you can add an arrowhead and make one tool perform both tasks.
