Provisioning varying admin access levels by Planning plan types

How can I provision admin access levels by plan types? For example, I'd like to grant a user full admin access to one plan type, but limit their access for another plan type within the same application? The plan type I want to limit them to is basically a workforce plan type which I do not want to allow them to have any admin access to. Anyone know how to do this?

I took a look at the blog and my current setup design mostly follows what is on the blog. I too have a workforce plan type along with other plan types in the Planning application. What I'm trying to see if it's possible is to setup a user with admin access to manage and modify the member outlines for 2 out of the 3 plan types in Planning, but not give him access to the workforce plan type as that has sensitive compensation information. But it appears that if he's granted admin access to modify the application outline, then he would be able to grant himself access to the workforce members, which then means I can't provision him with limited admin rights while also preventing him from access to the workforce information.

So far the only thing I can find is enhancement MCP20005 which allows you to extend authorization check for planning. The planning type is available in this function module and if you return subrc ne 0 authorization is denied.

Ability to restrict access to different Plan Types in Planning 11.1.2 ?

Hi, we're running Planning/EPM version 11.1.2, with DRM and EPMA.
We're creating a new Plan Type (Plan 2) within the Planning app, and if possible I'd like to restrict access to this 2nd plan type to only a small group of users. This 2nd plan type would be for additional what-if testing and we don't want their work to interfere with the main cube in Plan 1. Is it possible to use security provisioning or another technique so I can restrict who can have access to Plan 2?
Also if I can do this, is it also possible to have Planning data forms that are only visible to Plan 2 and it's users?

You can restrict forms easily using groups and/or direct provisioning.
Typically you will always have security on your scenario dimension; I suggest using scenario or version security to restrict access to your data.

ISE 1.2 Admin Access via Active Directory

Hi Experts,
Good Day!
I want to configure my ISE 1.2 to authenticate (for admin) against the active directory. I know it is possible but our AD doesn't have any groups named for admins.
Is it possible for the ISE 1.2 to configure a local user ID and check it to the AD for the password of the UserID?

I just got done doing this. First of all you have to have the Active Directory setup as an external data source. Once you do that Click on Administration - - Admin Access.
For the Authentication Type ensure that Password Based is toggled and change your data source to Active Directory (or whatever you named it).
Then click in Administrators - - Admin Users. Click Add a user - - Create Admin User. Ensure to check the External box and you will notice the Password field goes away. Fill out the appropriate information and then assign them to an Admin Group.
Once you are done with that you can test that user by logging out of your ISE session. You will notice that when you try to log back in you will have a choice of the data sources used to authenticate the user. Change the selection to Active Directory and enter the AD user/password for the newly created account you should be good to go.
Make sure that you don't delete or disable your original admin account in this process. (Change the password if you like.)

This is the comma delimited output from a Security Query executed in the CMC. You should have no problem pulling this into Excel by specifying the appropriate text delimiter. This can be accessed under the "Query Results" section of the CMC by creating a new Security Query.
The output represents the Object Name and ID (Custom Access Level 1 = 1522), the type of object, scope, etc. I exported this for the Administrators group specifically, and it does have a limitation of only being able to run for a single group at a time, but will give you substantial information.

How to confine various level of planning in to limited and lowest level of planning in DP by the users

Hi Gurus,
May I know the various methods to confine planning level at the lowest level and re-define the Primitive methods where business currently uses in excel sheet and plans at all level into demand planning with a minimum and lowest level by which the business reduces manual work and increases visibility and planning.
Example: Business currently plans at customer Hierarchies which has about 6 levels, product has Hierarchies at 5 levels, location hierarchies at 3 level in excel sheet and on monthly level for an year and then quarterly for 2 years and yearly basis for one year. This we need to confine to lowest level of customer, product and location.

So in this case, the cvc are created at lowest level of planning, at P6_C5_L3.
Now how to convenience the business that they need to do the planning at this level for planning, as the rest levels will be aggregated automatically in demand planning.
Is the grouping level place a major role? if so how to do that as the business says for some products they do at p4_c2_L1 level for some they do at P5_C4_L2 level.
Could someone guide us in giving some solution which ease the business need of planning at any level. Hope you have understood my requirement by the above example. If not do let me know, so that I may try to inform by further details. Thanks in advance.

Not really sure what the question is. You say you want to 'confine' planning to the most detailed level, but you also want to support planning at an intermediate level.
No matter. DP transparently supports planning at any/all levels simultaneously. Data in DP is always stored at the detail level, no matter which level (or combination of levels) the forecast is entered at.

if you dont want this function in item level -- Billing plan ..Just remove the check box

Aggregation level and planning filter question

I have below questions on aggregation levels and planning fitlers.
Scenario: An Aggregation level is built on a multiprovider( Actual Cub1(5 chars, 4 keyfig), Actual Cube2(8 chars, 6 key fig), and Real Time Cube3(8 chars and 3 keyfig)). A FOX copy function has to be built on this aggregation level in which data from cube1 will be copied to cube 3.
1. Does an Aggregation level need to have all chars and keyfigures from cube 1 and cube 3? or it should have structure of Cube 3 only as data will be written to cube 3?
- what are the standard design considerations for defining aggregation level?
2. In planning filter, both cube1 and cube3 are to be restricted or only cube3?
Is it necessary that only target planning cube is to be resricted? In that case how function will get the source data from cube1?
- what are the standard design considerations for defining planning filter?
Please provide some info on this...
any document on design consderations for planning object will be great.

I keep getting the following error in iCal using iCloud. Any suggestions as to how to fix it. Access to "NO PLANS" in "Business" in account "iCloud" is not permitted. The server responded: "403" to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation.

Copy: Level-by-level planning type

I was wondering if someone has carried out a copy in SOP from one Info structure with Level-by-level planning type to a second Info structure also with Level-by-level planning type.
This kind of copy is not supported by the SAP standard.

Delete Level 0 from one plan type only

I'm using 10.1.3.6 and wanting to know if it is possible to delete Hyperion Planning metadata for just one plan type only? I have tried by entering a '1' against the plan type and using 'Delete Level 0' but the result was that it removed the code completely, even from the plan type that I wanted it to remain in.

If you use the delete option it will delete the member totally.
What you would do is perform a standard metadata load and update the plan type properties, so put 1 or 0 against the plan types you want the member to be associated with, remember you are still are under the constraints of planning so what you are trying to do has to be valid in planning.

Enterprise level capacity planning

I am trying to look at capacity planning at an enterprise level and wish to get summarized views of captured data across a number of hosts and instances. I would like to be able to see the tablespace stats for all of our instances in one graph or report, and not have to view each one separately. The OEM capacity planner does not seem to provide any such views and from what I have discovered in the repository it looks as though separate tables are created to hold captured data for each instance eg table space data for prod01 will be in table a, tablespace data for xcpt02 will be in table b.
Has anybody got any ideas on how to use the Capacity Planner for Enterprise Level Capacity Planning?

Unable to provision Business Rules access for users

Hi all,
Our analytic server is properly configured in Shared Services : we can correctly create users, provision Essbase access for those users, change password, etc...
An application business rules is visible in the left pane of shared services, but we are not able to provision Business rules access for users.
When we try to provision access for a user, we have only access to the Analytic properties.
What's going wrong ?

It sounds like the user you login to HSS with hasn't been assigned with "Provisioning Mgr" rights to business rules.
Get the HSS admin user to grant you these rights and you should then be able to provision users to use Business RUles.
