Proxies issue?

Made an eariler post about trouble connecting to the internet. The iBook works fine using the airport. But if I bypass the airport and hook-up the ethernet cable to the book it will not connect. I was on the phone to my ISP (verizon) for 1/2 hour they got stuck and told me to call apple to find out how to "set the proxies to auto obtained" so they can be cleaned out. There has to be a better answer. It does not look like those proxies are going anywhere. (none of them are highlighted) Is this a ISP problum or does someone have another idea?
anything?
Thanks

Hi Andy,
Make sure Builtin Ethernet is selected in Network Port Configurations. Open the TCP/IP tab and select "Configure IPv4: Using PPP". Next open the PPPoE tab and check mark "Connect using PPPoE" and enter your account information. Click on the Options button and adjust the connection time so it doesn't disconnect you and check the "Connect automatically when needed" box. Close that window and click on "Apply Now". You should be good to go.
Proxie settings are used if you're behind a corporate firewall so there's nothing to set there.

  • Has 4.1 fixed the Proximity Sensor issue for you?

At work, can't download 4.1 yet, but I'm eager to see if the Proximity Sensor issue will be fixed. This is my last straw, if 4.1 doesn't do it, I'm afraid I can't wait any longer. I need a phone..

For those who are slow on the uptake what is the issue with the proximity sensor? I have noticed no issues with mine.
We have three iP4s in our family and none are experiencing the Prox issue, but for those that do it is extremely frustrating. Proximity sensor system seems to fail and activate the keyboard at odd times allowing your face/ear to randomly press 'buttons' resulting in all sorts of weird behavior.
Got it. Mine is fine so I guess I should be grateful. Apart from the signal issues my phone works perfectly. I hope this update doesn't screw my phone up.

  • Why don't the trailers on Yahoo Movies ever open?

On Yahoo Movie site, movie trailers are available for reviewing. However, when you call up the video, all you get is an arrow spinning around in a circle.

They seem to work for me. If you are at work it maybe a FireWall Prox issue. If your at home make sure the FlashPlayer, Shockwave, Jave and maybe even MS SilverLight are install and working. You can test for them in FF if you simply do a google search for Flashplaye test, and likewise for Jave, Search for Java Test.
    Hope that helps

  • What does error code 310 mean?

Can Someone please help me because i wanna purchase something and i can't and i don't know why

It means your iTunes doesn't connect to internet (Error 310). Basically proxies issues.
    So, try this:
Check your IE Browser settings (Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings) if you are NOT on LAN network. Make sure all proxies are unchecked. Try that again. Hope that helps.

  • Contentbase Issues - Why does it create 2 proxies for every video assett?

I am trying to deploy a SAN and a Media Asset Management System. After testing Final Cut Server, I've noticed that within the Proxies.bundle you get:
    1) Duplicate Thumbnails
    2) Duplicate Poster Frames
    3) Duplicate Low Resolution Video Proxies
Why dublicate everything? I want to SAVE SPACE and if I have to create proxies (since you can't really turn this off yet), why take up twice the space?
Also, Why can't I control or alter the thumbnail or poster frame image generated? I might not want to pick the first frame of video. I might want to change it.
I see no place in the Admin panel to address these issues...At All!
    Anyone know what's up?

Thanks so far Nicholas and Chris,
Here's the thing: I've read both the admin guide and the peachpit book on FCS now. I don't understand a few things:
    1) If I import a FCP project as an asset, it will copy all media associated with the project to either the Media or Library folder. Wow Great. But when it make the proxies (Thumbnail, Poster frame, Low Res Copy--Not Editing Proxy; this isn't enabled in my setup now), it creates a series of folders like:
    00000000001a
    00000000001b
    00000000001c
    00000000001d
And in each you get the XML, the thumbnail, the poster frame, and the low res proxy.
However, then it duplicates three files: the thumbnail, poster frame and low res proxy into three more folders:
    00000000001e
    00000000001f
    00000000001g
These are literally the exact duplicate of the first three proxies. (The XML is not duplicated.) If I delete these duplicates manually, the system still works, provides previews, a thumbnail, etc. inside the user UI; no problems.
Additionally, if I import media/an asset directly--not attached to a project--it only creates one set of proxies and no duplicates.
This leads me to believe that it is making proxies for both the media asset and the project file, instead of one set of proxies for both.
Either way, I need a "better way" to integrate our workflow with FCS at our web video company. We have some 5200 raw media files I need to catalogue and import. Most of these files have been edited and exported into final conformed shows--those are about 3700 final QuickTimes.
We also have tons of other still photos, and gfx, that I would like to catalogue. Before I start moving stuff into FCS, I want to be sure that I am not wasting proxy space.
If either of you has more time, I would be grateful to follow up with more technical questions and workflow solutions.
    Thanks,
    Shawn Larkin

  • Storage issues for Proxies using Final Cut Server

    Hi there,
we have a fairly high amount of material that is just being put into Final Cut Server to be archived again.
I dont mind the Xserve being busy to create these proxy files, but they tie up too much space!
(Maths: 500 GB / 40 h of DVCAM footage result in more than 100 GB proxy files).
We have those 40 h running though more than once a month plus a whole LOT of material from the last 2 years - and our Xsan is only 7 TB in size.
Although we could theoretically buy another fiber raid this solution is not really future proof - it just pushes the time when we have to buy the next one a couple of months forward.. on top of that I cannot afford to have expensive, fast fiber channel storage used for proxies of files that are long archived and have only very limited use (and IF we need them, stick in the archive device and done).
Any ideas how to get rid of proxy files from archived assets?
I dont really want to take pen and paper and delete the proxies of the files by hand from the bundle.. dont think FCSvr will like this either.
    thanks for any advice
    tobi

So I'm not sure how your math is adding 100GB of proxy files
Are you creating VersionS and/or Edit Proxies of everything?
I ask because using the default Clip Proxy setting gives you file sizes similar to the ones below. These numbers aren't accurate because the default Transcode setting uses Variable Bit Rate (VBR) encoding for both video and audio, but assuming you had a relative constant 800kbps stream here's how large your Proxies.bundle file should be
    800kbps * 30secs = 2.4mb
    800kbps * 60secs = 4.8mb
    800kbps * 60secs * 60min = 280.8mb per hour
    280.8mb per hours * 40= 11.2GB
Also note, that deleting an asset from FCSvr doesn't delete the proxy files so you could have a lot of proxies left over from a few historical scans.

  • HP Veer (white) - prox sensor & auto dimming issues

I recently purchased a white HP Veer and I noticed an issue with the proximity sensor. Whenever I'm on a call, the phone will not dim/shutoff the screen which causes a variety of things to open anytime my ear grazes against the touchscreen.
Also, at random times, the touchscreen will dim, then brighten, then dim with the same lighting around me.
Otherwise, it's a great replacement for my original iPhone and Razr V3i.
Post relates to: HP Veer p160una (AT&T)

I am having a similar issue with the proximity sensor, in mine when I make a call the screen goes black automatically even if I don't have my face to it. It stays black for about 2 min or if I take it to a place where there is a lot of light then it come back. Also even if I don't make a call it goes black. There is now way to turn the phone off or reset since I can't see when the screen goes black. I had a replacement order and I am waiting for it. I will swap the phone and see if it does it on the new one. I took it to the AT&T store and they said the same thing, it could be the proximity sensor needs adjusting. WebOS update please............. iPhone had the same problem and it was fixed with an update, no shame here.........

  • Thought it was Prox Sensor issue, but now I dont think it is

I thought I was having intermittant issues with the proximity sensor...every now and then I would mute someone or start dialing random numbers while on a call. Today while I was on a call it happend again, but I now am pretty sure I know what trigers it...at least for me. While on the call I got the chime that I had a new e-mail and then I started dialing random numbers and muted the call...I havent had a chance to experiment any more today, but does a new email or text notification "wake-up" the screen while in a call? If thats the case..hey apple..disable that!

I'm pretty sure that's not the case.

  • SharePoint Foundation 2013 - March 2014 Update Issue - Need help

We've just applied the SharePoint Foundation 2013 March 2014 Update, it always requires that we run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard at the end of install, but this time it's getting stuck at step 9 of 10 (the profile sync service cannot be
started even as admin). Is anyone else having any issues with this update? Has anyone else applied it yet? Is anyone else planning to apply it?
If anyone can help with advice on this I'd appreciate it.

    Hi,
We can still access CA but sync will not start. Tried rebooting after the failed configuration and tried to run it again but it didn't work.

  • Cloud with Proxies - Proof and solution

    Hi all,
I've struggled with this issue for a while, and read many similar posts from those having the same issue. I have found a solution that worked for me and hopefully others.
Essentially, although the Application Manager and other utilities appear to function properly inside a corporate network, the "phone home" services fail to connect, and leave you with an "expired subscription" or various messages similar to "You're not connected to the internet" and so on.
Adobe adamantly states that the software is "Proxy-aware" so there must be other unresolvable issues, and you should kindly ask your IT team to deactivate firewalls, proxies, virus-protection, etc... (yea, right...). You could also request adding exceptions to 6 or so activation servers on a range of ports, which still doesn't work, and take 6 months and 5 levels of management approval.
In reality, "proxy-aware" is only partly accurate, as shown in the graphic below. I monitored PDApp.exe (Adobe Application Manager) with the ProcessExplorer tool (Windows, sysinternals) while doing several network-active tasks to see where the traffic was being routed.
So, PDApp.exe gets correctly routed via my proxy server for installing apps, running updates, and logging in to the app when opening it up.
However, when getting "Subscription Expired" and "Unable to connect to the internet" and clicking "Try Again" or "Licence this Software", the proxy is ignored and the app attempts to connect directly to ims-na1.adobelogin.com, which fails.
The worst part of this was I went through the 5 levels of management approval and so on to get the two servers Adobe states you need access to for Cloud added as exceptions to our firewall(https://activate.adobe.com and https://lm.licenses.adobe.com/, on ports 23, 80 and 443), and still got nowhere, because without ims-na1.adobelogin.com, you can't proceed past the screen above.
    Now, for my solution:
I searched for software that would force a program to use a specific proxy. I came across lots, I have to experience with these so I can't vouch for any particular one, but I chose "Proxifier". (They have one that doesn't require an installer for those who don't have local admin rights.) This one is a trial, I'm sure there are free ones as well, just search a bit more.
The proxy server address can be deduced from watching working software traffic in Process Explorer (right click on "Internet Explorer" and got to properties, then TCP/IP, I could see the proxy being addressed under "Remote address", as see in the graphics above). Alternatively just ask your IT team.
I won't get into how to set up the software, read it's help files; what you want is to take any communications from PDApp.exe that are NOT already destined to your proxy server's address and send them to your proxy server's address. (this is important - some communications from PDApp are proxy-aware and redirecting them will cause them to fail)
Hopefully this helps a few people. Despite the issues I love Adobe's software, and am happy I am using it again.

Thanks for taking a read Jeff, and passing along the information.
My company uses an ISA proxy server (HTTP protocol)
Like many such systems, ISA server does not allow SSL tunnels to ports other than 443 and 563 by default (PDApp attempts to use ports 80 and 8080). The reasoning is that SSL tunnels bypass security policy rules and inspection and therefore creates a security risk, which is taken quite seriously (especially with a company this size (37,000+). Check out http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc302684.aspx for more detail.
As an addendum to the initial post, it is critical that the IT team allows SSL tunnels to the required ports. I hadn't noticed this originally as the policy was adjusted to allow access to the addresses Adobe originally provided.
I might add a disclaimer that the software mentioned above and similar can also be used to try and circumvent a company's internet security policies, so make sure you can demonstrate that it is being used to force the proxy server rather than avoid it!

  • FCPX Playback head slow in timeline? Using Proxies.

Im editing 5k footage shot on the Red Epic.  I have a interview laid out in my timeline (or project) and I am going through and setting my "IN" and "OUT" marks and cutting using "APPLE-X".  Also using "J" on keyboard to rewind to certain points where I want to mark my "IN" points.  The footage runs great until I start cutting frequently.  My playhead starts to be slower than the actual video playing back. So when I make my "IN" and "OUTS"  and then cut, my edit is about 6 or 7 frames off.  It seems as if the playhead is lagging or it is slowed.  Every clip is converted to the 1080 proxies.  I am not mixing footage formats.  Im editing with the proxy setting enabled.  I am cutting from a GTECH Firewire 800 Drive.   Here are my computer specs:
    MAC PRO:
    MAC OS X 10.6.8
    Processor: 2 x 2.93 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory: 32 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    GFX: ATI Radeon HD 5870
    Final Cut Pro X 10.0.6
Please let me know if you can help me.
    Thanks
    Elliot Pollaro

be sure there isn't anything else accessing your drive....file downloads....email auto checking...etc.
try seeing if the behaviour changes by alternating the preferences for playback, best performance vs high quality.
it's hard to understand why this would be an issue with proxy footage. enable the checkbox to warn you when drop frames occur. just to see...
does this only happen when editing 5k footage or can you reproduce it with other footage?
is it a fast 7200 rpm disk? might it be too full?
because you're using proxies, it sounds like something is slowing the hard drive down such that it's not accessing fast enough.

Noted : I have try to re-install the Reporting Services,  but stilling getting same error.
    Thanks.

    Hi StarMoonEarth,
According to your description, when you click on the System Setting, it throws error message says "SQL Server Reporting Services Shared Service does not exist". Right?
In this scenario, you can check if the Reporting Services is started. Follow the steps below:
In SharePoint Central Administration, click Manage Services on Server in the
    System Settings group.
Find SQL Server Reporting Services Service and click Start in the Action column.
The status of the Reporting Services service will change from Stopped to
Started. If the Reporting Services service is not in the list, use PowerShell to install the service.
If the Reporting Services shared is still not existing, please use PowerShell cmdlts to install the Reporting Services service. Please refer to the Section 2 in the link you have posted.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.
    Best Regards,
    Simon Hou

  • Unable to log into iMessage and intermittent issues with FaceTime

Late 2011 MacBook Pro, OS X 10.8.4.  I'm an admin level Windows guy but a relatively new (and otherwise very pleased) convert to Mac OS.
This morning Messages started repeatedly prompting me for my iMessage password and FaceTime has starting working only intermittently.  Both work fine from my iPad and iPhone 5.  Both have been working from my MacBook Pro for months.
This morning when I tried to fire up Messages on the MacBook I got an error saying "The server encountered an error processing registration".  After doing some Googling, I noticed that many folks said that when they had this problem they also had an issue with FaceTime.  I confirmed that FaceTime was indeed giving me the same error as iMessage. After trying some solutions from past threads that didn't work, I rebooted.  Now instead of throwing an error, Messages just keeps asking me for my iMessage password again and again.  FaceTime works occasionally but sometimes when I get a call and click answer, I get "call failed" as my iPhone and iPad continue to ring and then I'm asked to re-enter my password on the MacBook.  If I enter my password it just sits and spins.  If i quit FaceTime and start it again, it'll usually log in successfully but calls may or may not work (following the same pattern I just mentioned).
The odd thing to me is that when I tested FaceTime on my iPad, I got notifications on my iPad and iPhone and my primary and alternate email address were now registered with FaceTime.  They have been for over a year so I'm not sure why I'm getting those notifications again.
I'm able to log into the Mac App store without a problem using the same AppleID
What I've tried so far based on Google results:
    1. In Keychain Access, reset my default keychain - No improvement
    2. In Keychain Access, selected Keychain First Aid, repaired and verified - No improvement
    3. On my iPad, turned iMessage off and back on - No improvement, though iMessage on the iPad still works fine
    4. Confirmed that my primary and secondary AppleID email addresses and password are correct.  The email address associated with my AppleID is not associated with any other AppleIDs.
    Thanks!

This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are many possible causes for it. Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
Before proceeding, test on another network, if possible. That could be a public Wi-Fi hotspot, if your computer is portable, or a cellular network if you have a mobile device that can share its Internet connection. If you find that iMessage works on the other network, the problem is in your network or at your ISP, not in your computer.
    Step 1
Check the status of the service. If the service is down, wait tor it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.
    Step 2
Restart your broadband device and your router, if different. You may have to skip this step if you don't control those devices.
    Step 3
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or obviously invalid, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.
    Step 4
Take the steps suggested in this support article. If you don't understand some of the steps or can't carry them out, ask for guidance.
    Step 5
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If the box marked SOCKS Proxy is checked, uncheck it. You don’t need to change any other settings in the window. Click OK and then Apply. Test.
The result may be that you can't connect to the Internet at all. Revert the change if that happens, or if iMessage still doesn't work. Remember that you must Apply any changes you make in the preference pane before they take effect.
    Step 6
    Select from the menu bar
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Storage
    and click
Block all sites from storing information on this computer
    Close the preference pane.
    Step 7
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
If iMessage worked in the guest account, stop here and post your results.
    Step 8
Boot in safe mode and log in. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and test again.
If iMessage worked in safe mode, but didn't work when you booted out of safe mode, stop here and post your results.
    Step 9
    Reset the NVRAM.
    Step 10
    Reinstall OS X.
    Step 11
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or contact Apple Support.
