Proximity sensor doesn't switch off - Lumia 920

Hi, I hope someone can help me here. I've got a huge problem with my brand new Lumia 920.
When I make a phone call, or accept a phone call, it seems my phone locks the screen completely, as if I had it next to my ear (i.e. the proximity sensor), even when I don't have it anywhere near my head.
I cannot end a phone call, or switch to loudspeaker etc. - nothing. It is highly annoying, and I have no idea how to fix it.
I have done a soft reset, but to no avail.
I had a bluetooth headset connected earlier in the day, and then disconnected it. This phenomenon did not occur prior to using the bluetooth headset. No idea if this can have anything to do with it, but it seems a strange coincidence.

I have exactly the same problem! I am kind of happy, I am not the only one with this problem!
First thing I did was factory resetting the phone. Of course this wasn't the issue.
Then I thought that my proximity sensor isn't working at all - but then I started testing it. I went into a room without a light and then went back to a room with a light and display automatically adjusted the brightness. So the sensor works.
Then I stared a phone call (screen become black) and then I put the phone just few centimeters from a light bulb and the display adjusted brightness and I could see all normally (like it should work if you don't put it near you head). Can you try this and tell me if you get same result?
I would conclude that sensor should be somehow trimmed, but I sure don't know how to do that.

I´am experiencieng a problem that many other iphone users may either.
The proximity sensor doesn´t work. When i answer a phone call, the display doesn´t turn off, and everytime i keep dialing numbers, endind calls and a lot of other little things that are getting on my nerves.
It seems apple couldn´r care less for those problems we are having, and nothing has been told or done. Thats good for us to see how much apple is concerned with customers.
Anyway, is there a way to fix this annoying thing???

this could be a few reasons,
1. try and update the device to the latest firmware via itunes, to check you on are on 4.3 go to settings>general>about and under version, if is lower than 4.3, update the device
2. if this fails remove any cases or screen protecters (silly, i know) that may block the sensor
3. if that fails, take to the nearest apple store, and describe your problem, they will either replace a=or repair

But seriously, you said the situation only happens when you have been on a long call, so maybe the iPhone is just autolockng?

Recently updated 5G iPod to 1.2 doesn't switch off

Yesterday I'd updated my 5G 60GB iPod with the new iPod update from iTunes 7. Now, it doesn't switch off anymore, even if I make a hard reset. I also tried restoring it from iTunes and the problem stays. Neither can I get into diagnostic mode.
I'll never make an update so soon anymore. Please, anyone could help me?

Ipod doesn't switch off on its own

Hello,
I have a black Ipod 60GB and it doesn't switch off on its own. I know that the old Ipods will switch off on their own if you are not using it for more than a couple of minutes. So I thought the 5th generation would do that as well but mine doesn't and it's really annoying. Does anyone know if 5th generation Ipod should do that? And if yes, in which part of the menu can I set that option?

The iPod will turn off after 1 minute if there is a song on pause, or if there is nothng playing.

"Not desturb" mode (Moon sign in Front of Time) doesn't Switch Off on set off time since 2013.
Same Problem with iPhone 5 and iPad Mini. Both iOS 6.0.2

Do Not Disturb scheduling feature will resume normal functionality after January 7, 2013. Before this date, you should manually turn the Do Not Disturb feature on or off.
To turn off the scheduling feature, tap Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb and switch Scheduled to Off.

KT3 Ultra2 doesn't switch off

When I press on/off button computer doesn't switch off and reboot. I tried another memory, cpu and PSU, but with the same result. I measured voltage 12V, it falls down for a moment, but then rise again. This doesn't depend of Windows98 or DOS, because I had the same effect without hard disk.

Same problem for me too, but it's somewhat erratic. Sometimes it will shutdown, other times it will 'reboot' (It's not a normal reboot. You can hear the hard drives click into their shutdown state for about 0.25 seconds, then the whole system powers back on again).
I thought it must be to do with some kind of wakeup event, but nothing that I tried seem to change it. I just accept the fact now that when I say 'Shut Down', I have to sit by my computer until it either shuts down, or reboots itself (At which point I press the power button and it shuts off).
Stupid thing :\
I'm using an Enermax 410w PSU - I doubt that's the problem.

I made some tests and this issue will fix itself on Sunday January 6, 2013. It will happen the first few days of January 2014 (until Sunday January 5, 2014) if the bug is not fixed. Most first few days of most years seem to have this bug. The bugs starts on January 1st (based on the From time under Scheduled) and is usually fixed on the first Sunday of the year (except if the first day of the year is a Sunday, then it is fixed on the second Sunday). Years preceding years where the first day is a Sunday are not affected by the bug.
Let's check the next few years, this is the pattern :
2013 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 6
2014 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 5
2015 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 4
2016 : Issue not happening even though first day is a Friday
2017 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 8 (Jan 1st is also a Sunday)
2018 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 7
2019 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 6
2020 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 5
2021 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 3
2022 : Issue not happening even though first day is a Saturday
2023 : Issue fixed on Sunday Jan 8 (Jan 1st is also a Sunday)

The same pattern happens if you go back in time as well.
Note : If DND is scheduled before midnight, then the issue and the fix (see above) are delayed one day since it's based on the From time under Scheduled.

N97 Proximity Sensor doesn't work quite as well?

I just recently updated my phone and it seems like the switch from portrait and landscape doesn't work quite as well. The angle at which I have to put it on landscape is steeper and it's really annoying. Anyone else have this problem?
edit: I know the firmware went through coz the lock bug isn't there anymore. but when I connect via USB it still tells me "charging" . Just saying

hey there, what you are referring to isn't the proximity sensor lol. the proximity sensor is basically used to detect when your face is close enough to the phone (i.e. when pressing your ear against earpiece), so that the display switches off to stop accidental presses of the screen, and to conserve power by turning the backlight off. anyways what you are referring to are the sensor settings for the accelerometer in your phone. i don't have a N97 so can't vouch for what you're saying, although it may not exactly be a bug, rather a tweak of the accelerometer settings. from memory, the N97 charges via USB, does it not? this behaviour will be automatic upon plugging the cable into your PC. i doubt that there is an option to turn it off, though i am not exactly 100% sure about this. this behaviour may be changed in future firmware updates or it may not, as the phone relies on USB charging as its sole charging method. but its not really a bug as such.

Proximity sensor doesn't work correctly after 4.3 update

The proximity sensor disables the screen when I place the phone near my face when in a call, that's fine.
However, it never re-enables it when I move it away. This happened prior to the 4.3 update, however I could press the home button and it would light the screen up.
That doesn't happen anymore, so I can not hang up a phone call once the screen goes off.
This is a major defect

I have the same issue with a 2 month old Galaxy S4 and I noticed it after the last push from Verizon whihc may have been the 4.3 update. Proximity sensor won't light up the screen again when you move it away from your face. Verizon told me to do a factory reset, Samsung told me to do a soft reset then clear the cache. Did all and still have same problem. Had a call yesterday and person on other end did not hang up so I had no way to hand up on my end. Am turning off the proximity senson durring calls for now but it will use up more of the battery with the screen lit more. They need to fist it.

Yesterday i received the update notification to Tango through Zune. After perform the update, I noticed that when making or receiving calls, the screen immediately turned off and is not turned on again until the other person hung up.
I did the tests in the diagnostic menu, and the proximity sensor always shows "detected".

I did a rollback to the previous version and the problem was solved, but went update to Tango again, the problem reappears. I notice that problem appears just after the firmware update from Nokia.

can anybody help me.......i m facing issue with my proxomity sensor aa when i make or recive the call my phone (Nokia Lumia 710) screen gets disappear ant it comes only when other person disconnect the call. Hello there, I have an issue, when I make call my prox, sensor doesn't seem to be functioning... The sensor it self works just fine, I checked them via internal check + few external apps.I already reseted my phone to factory settings. Ps: Yeah I have tempering glass screen, but that shouldn't be an issue because like I said with the testing app the sensor worked just fine ( tested with my finger and ear, worked fine)... Regards

Hi, I have the same problem, proximity sensor not working. My phone is in mint condition, not even scratches. This happened just after the latest update, every time I get a call the screen won't turn off. I followed the repair instructions using the PC Companion Software, I errased all the data and restored the phone. I still have the same problem, I tried Safe Mode and the problem remains. I emailed support and they said I can't go back to the previous software version that actually worked just fine. Is very frustrating to run out of options on a "High End" product from sony. I used to love this phone and even convinced some friends to buy it. Now every time I need to make a call I just want to throw it against the wall. My proximity sensor doesn't work after call waiting

My proximity sensor works fine during calls. Until someone calls in while I'm on the call. Whether I answer or not, when I pull it away from my face it activates the screen as it should, but it never turns it back off when I continue the conversation. This ONLY happens with call waiting. once i press on the home button and unlock the phone it works fine, knowing that i had a replacement for the phone for the same fault and now and i don't know what to do as my brother's phone is exactly the same however it works fine.
