Proximity sensor problem in x6!!!PLS help

hey guys i got myself an x6 2 days...when i answer calls and try my best to cover the sensor wit my ear still i acciddently press the mute or hold button.....the keypad is supposed to switch off right????
it happens sometimes though its not reliable...is it a problem for everyone or is it just me???
i accidently pressed loudspeaker  in front of everyone while talking to my girl friend!!!so embarrasing.....
A POSSIBLE FIX would be to have slider kind of buttons so it doest accidently get activated...wat do u guys say???

I have had the same issue with my phone.  I notice that the proximity sensor is located on the far right hand side of the top of the phone.  Because of the location of the sensorI have discovered that when I hold the phone to my right ear I have far fewer problems than when I hold the phone to my left ear (which is how I would usually hold the phone).  When I hold the phone to my left ear the proximity sensor is often tilted away from my head while I am talking, particularly if I am moving around.   Very frustrating!  Besides being embarrassing at times it is also costly when you have to pay for additional calls because you continually hang up on people, or annoying, when you have to back track through your converstation because you have had somebody on hold without realising it!  Judging by the number of other complaints about the same issue it would seem to be yet another design fault with Nokia products!

  • Is apple ever going to respond to proximity sensor problems?

apple has responded to the antenna problem, how about this one? i HATE my iphone becaus eof the proximity sensor problem. i hang up on calls all the time.

I had the same problem. I took it to the Apple Store. The man helping me said that the sensor was hardware. No software fix he was aware of. I demonstrated the problem to him. He brought out a store phone to compare to. He simply said "I'm sold" and he brought me a new phone immediately. He also placed mine in a special case with my name printed out on the label to be sent to Apple so that they could examine the phone and try to learn more. Indeed, I believe that they are concerned, but I also believe that they will have to have more returns before it becomes a serious issue to them. By the way, my new phone is "better" but I still occasionally "Cheek dial" or hang up on people. I have found that sliding the phone back a bit so that my ear canal is not directly over the sensor works, and I can still hear the call. Hopefully a software fix WILL resolve this, since a reset has helped some.

  • Proximity Sensor problem after update. Lumia 710

    Hi,
Yesterday i received the update notification to Tango through Zune. After perform the update, I noticed that when making or receiving calls, the screen immediately turned off and is not turned on again until the other person hung up.
I did the tests in the diagnostic menu, and the proximity sensor always shows "detected".
The problem is the same as in this post -> http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nokia-with-Windows-Phone/Proximity-Sensor-stuck-in-quot-Detected-quo...
I did a rollback to the previous version and the problem was solved, but went update to Tango again, the problem reappears. I notice that problem appears just after the firmware update from Nokia.

  • My cheek/ear selects things on touch screen while taking calls. Proximity sensor problem?

    Hello all
Had my X3 Compact for a couple of months now and really liking it.
APART from the fact then when I am on a call the screen still seems to be a little sensitive to touch.
I hear beeps of things being selected. Very often when I finish the call I see the screen is on Notifications or Quick Settings screen, or sometimes the Date and Time screen. Sometimes I notice that my cheek/ear has turned on Bluetooth from the Quick Settings screen.
Sometimes while on a long call (ie more time in which to involuntarily press things) the other person will suddenly not hear me anymore - no doubt due to imprecise cheek/ear selection!
Is there something wrong with the Proximity Sensor? I have tested the Sensor with the available diagnostic and it seems functional. And my peripheral vision tells me that the screen goes black as I raise the phone to my ear.
I've heard that this model can occasionally overheat, but I've never noticed/felt any dramatic peaks in temperature.
    But something is clearly wrong.
As I said I have tested the Proximity Sensor.
I have not dropped or damaged my phone.
I do not use any kind of screen protector or case.
My software is up to date.
Any thoughts/ideas would be very welcome!!
(I have contracted the phone the EE in the UK - I have not contacted them yet as I thought it would be best to go straight to the manufacturers.)
    Thanks very much
    Jamie

Well I have been facing this issue since the first day itself and this isnt any issue at all!!
What happens is when we answer a call, out phone isnt in lock state and also we arent holding our phone constantly in one position to our ears/cheeks so theres rubbing of the screen (due to our ears/cheek) which eventually swipes down the Status bar Quick settings and then randomly turns on any feature icon our ear.cheek touches. And we keep hearing some beeps.
So what I do is once I answer a call I always make it a point/habit to manually lock the phone via Power button. This way I have found my personal solution to this problem.
And this is the only solution for this nagging issue
Also if you want, you can completely remove all icons which bother you from Quick settings so that even if your phone isnt locked while on call, nothing will get activated in the background.
So follow my steps and enjoy your Z3 without worrying about this issue.

  • Magnetic Carry Case + Proximity Sensor Problem

I noticed a problem with magnetic carry case and the proximity sensor being disabled in 10.1 for my Z10 STL100-3 as well as my wife's STL100-1.
When removing the phone from the case, to make or answer a call, the sensor is disabled. Thus, you easily touch the keys with your face. When NOT using the magnetic carry case, no issue. Seems like the magnetic sensor was disabling the proximity sensor.
Now, using 10.2, it appears the problem has been resolved. But will monitor over the next few days.

Who installed the new screen? You should take the phone back to them and have them fix it.

  • Proximity Sensor Problem

I have a problem with proximity sensor, it is very sensible to sunlight. To understand better what i am talking about look at this video posted by someone who has the same problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvbkVY_sFYc. This happens for either incoming or outgoing calls..
What could be the cause of this problem?
    Thank's in advance..

there really is not anythig that you can do about it.
unfortunately, the sensor is doing what it should. though that doesnt solve the issue.
in some cases it is worse then others.

  • N97 proximity sensor problems

Hi. My proximity sensors on n97 don't work as they should be. Very often they tend to freeze the screen (not allowing me to hang up or do any further actions once within a call). The screen simply stays black. Does anyone have similar problems and how can this be resolved? thanks

I don't think i have that exact problem although it does sometimes go a bit wierd when I try and end a call ( won't let me hang up, or freezes for a bit). If anything the proximity sensors don't seem to deactivate the screen like they are supposed to when i'm on a call. Several times I've unintentionally put people on hold whilst talking to them by somehow touching that button.

  • UnsatisfiedLinkError Problem.(Urgent)Pls Help!!

    Hi,
I just want to run a swing under win98 OS platform and an error message appeared :
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: C:\jdk1.4\jre\bin\awt.dll: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format
I have changed different version of JDK including 1.3.1 and 1.4beta, but the problem still exists.
Is that any special setting need for running interface as I can run the java program in no trouble at all if there is no any interface.
Another thing when i double click the java plug-in, there is an error message: "Could not found the main class. The Program would exit. ". How come?
    Pls Help and many thx.

    Post you code.

  • Did a replacement fix anyone's Proximity Sensor problem?

    Did it?

Ok. I've been following this thread, and like most of you I have been having the same issue. The 4.1 upgrade did not fix my proximity sensor issue. Even after the upgrade, my sensor was only reading about .5 inches from the phone. I tried restoring, and even fresh restoring with 4.1 to no avail.
Then by accident I fixed it. I did a RESET NETWORK SETTINGS and then RESET ALL SETTINGS for an unrelated issue, and then my prox sensor started reading 1.25 - 1.5 inches away. No more face hangups or speakerphone incidents.
It seems the settings for the Prox sensor might be stored in a different location than the other system settings and data. Maybe like the old Mac PRAM? I don't know which reset fixed mine, as I did them both and noticed the fix afterward.
    Do this -
    1. Upgrade, or make sure you've already upgraded to 4.1
    2. Do a RESET NETWORK SETTINGS - it is under Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    If still a problem -
    3. Do a RESET ALL SETTINGS - it is under Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
(Note - these resets clear your settings. You will have to reconfigure them after you run these.)
Post back your results. Best of luck. Thanks.

  • Proximity sensor problem in classic

I recently bought the Blackberry Classic.... in spite of all of my friends suggesting for an iPhone. The biggest problem I am facing is the improper functioning of the proximity sensor. When I hold the phone at the ear during the call, it keeps pressing some buttons and it keeps getting wierd. Some times suddenly the speaker turns on since my face touches the screen there.  Phone calls is the primary function of the phone and this device can not perform that !!!  very very disappointed. Within 1 month of usage, I feel I made the biggest mistake by purchasing this phone.

I found some new strange behaviour today. A few seconds before the call I finished readin the mails. I didn't put the phone on standby but left the screen on instead. Suddenly I saw some activity on the phone. Opening of calendar, selecting of the text. As if my phone is hacked. I tried to cancel it out and exactly that point of time the incoming call started ringing.
Now is it the phone software bug or my phone has got hacked? I don't know.
Is it even possible to hack the blackberry OS? I think this is a very secured platform.
Should I try removing whatsapp? Or BES? Or is it a bug?
    Any advise or suggestions?
