Proxy format question - Prores422 as Proxy? Mpeg-4 as proxy?

In the page 8 of Final Cut Server product Overview, Following was mentioned.
Automatic Proxy and Thumbnail Generation
Because Final Cut Server is designed specifically for film and video production, it
automatically generates browse proxies, poster frames, and thumbnails as it catalogs
video clips.
You can define the size and format of thumbnails for graphics files as well as the
size and format of thumbnails and proxies for video clips. In addition, you can set a
preference to have Final Cut Server generate _Apple ProRes 422 edit proxies_ at the
same time as the normal browse proxies.
Because Final Cut Server automatically associates proxies and reference images with
the original asset, you don’t have to worry about managing multiple files for your clips.
Current FCP 6.02 does not have any easy setup for "Apple ProRes 422 edit proxies".
Is this new setting for proxy other than Photo-Jpeg?
Also the following picture in same page show that MPEG-4 as Clip proxy. What is this for? Will MPEG-4 use as another editable Proxy Format or it is just Proxy for Preview?
And there was some text mentioned H.264 MPEG-4 as Proxy format too. Is this practical?
And Will H.264 can be use as Editable proxy or Preview proxy?
And Will we able to use 2 type of proxy in Final Cut Server? As Editable proxy & Preview proxy?

I think they talk about ProRes422
a) to use it for original uncompress SD or HD Media, so it is not a realy proxy like we know from MPEG4 or Foto-JPEG (very high compressed footage), it is just a "smaller" version. That's what I suggest.
b) to promote their codec
And I guess they just want to offer MPEG4 and H.264 as additional proxy formats which can be used also by other software than FCP for realtime editing. The most important thing is that MPEG4 and H.264 have to get uncompressed audio so you can do a realtime editing in FCP (only for hard cuts).
All the other stuff: We have to wait until we get our hands on - or have a deeper look into the manual. I had no time to do it till now...

  • What is the best proxy format to use when working with S-Log in a linear colourspace?

I have been working with some Sony F55 footage shot against a green screen. I am working in a 16bit s-rbg colourspace
I made proxies out of the source which were photo-jpeg movs, nice n fast.
However it is clamped the colour values in the proxy with what looks like an s-curve which has subsequently made my keying settings significantly different (i.e far more contrasty) when switching between proxy and original.
So what would be the best way to go about converting some log-s footage to a fast proxy format without messing with key effects parameters by such a troublesome amount. I can live with a small difference of course.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks Dave,
I appreciate the quick response. It is sensible advice.
Do you have any suggestions (when i do use proxies for log-c/s footage in general) for a decent format?
Would applying a linear output profile adjustment layer make a difference to a lesser format? Or do compressed formats bypass output profiles?
I only ask as I do a lot more compositing with linear footage these days and my machine struggles when it goes into a deep composite

  • Proxy to JMS Scenario: switch from sync to async proxy, does it makes sense?

    Hi @all,
i've implemented a sync proxy to JMS scenario that works well. Backend is ECC 6.0 and Middleware is PI 7.1.
Business Case: Run a request with a number and get a response back with a corresponding entry for the number. That means, there is always a response expected.
Now the following thing appears: the receiver system could not handle many calls at one time (200 calls are planned at each run), the calls reduces the performance. Now gys at receiver system likes to develope a buffer of 10 seconds between the requests to handle some kind of load balancing with that. That means for the request that it the response takes +10 seconds back to backend. It is also possible to handle that in SAP backend with a waiting-statement in coding, so there is no need to go from sync to async - but the customer requested us to implement this scenario in async.
JMS is always async, I know. But the Service Interfaces for Inbound and Outbound are of mode sync - so I can call my outbound Interface class in backend with Importing Output and Exporting Input.
My question is: makes it sense to go from sync to an async scenario?
And how looks the coding in backend for the response? I guess that it only makes sense to switch to async when no response entry is needed (example: for write operations).
    Thanks in Advance,
    Stefan

    > But in case of switching, what is the best way?
    > Should I implement 2 senarios? Or is it ok to switch the Inbound and Outbound Service Interface from sync to async?
I don't think you need 2 scenarios for this. Just one is enough with different RDs.
Over all in this case you have to re-create/modify the service interfaces and also you have to create 2 interface mappings. You have to also create the new inbound and outbound proxies since service interface mode will be changed. For outbound proxy the code can be reused and for inbound proxy also logic and code can be taken from your old code.

  • Landscape formatting question

Can anyone help me with a formatting question? I have a number of PDFs that are landscape format. Every time I open them they default to portrait, even when I change orientation in page set-up and re-save...

You are only changing the view, not the pdf. Use the Rotate command in the Document menu, not the view menu.

I want to install CCPL ,but it is not taking PAC file proxy. So please suggest an alternate way to set proxy for this exe file..

That file might have moved to a different location on the server. I think you'll need to check with RefWorks support or your local IT department on why the install page links do not work.

  • Cascading lookup format questions

    Hi everyone,
I have a couple of questions regarding formatting the cascading look up fields.  I have a list that filters classes and mnemonics by educator which works fine however on the entry form, when the "Educators" drop down menu is changed,
a secondary description box appears. The question is, how do I get rid of that secondary description box?
The second formatting question is that when I have filled out the form, on the edit entry form, there is a hyperlink to the list that the cascading lookup is using as a reference. How do I get rid of that link? See image 002 below

It's not easy to understand the question, please attach the image here.
if you mean to achieve a cascade lookup in SharePoint new/edit form, after selecting one column, the cascaded column below will show with filtered value, otherwise, the column is hidden, you may consider to use JavaScript/JQuery to show/hide the second column,
following is an article about how to use cascaded lookup in SharePoint:

  • File format question h264  /Blurry MPEG 4 output

"The codec with the best quality to size ratio is H264" was suggested for me to use when making web movies. This may be a stupid question, but is tehre any other file format (other then MPEG 4) that will play on an iPod and other digital media players. My Mpeg4 looks blurry and I really don't know why. I input h264 video into iMovie/ FC Express and the edit. When I export to MPEG 4 the video is blurry. I am only going down in physical size so pixelation is not the issue..(i think).

You see aac and h.264 are not editing formats in the FCP world. Easiest is to convert them first. It's very easy. Go get a copy of MPEGStreamclip and convert them to something useable, like ProRes LT. Then just import them, and drop one into a timeline and let the timeline adjust to the footage. You do not have to setup one of the easy settings in order to work.

  • Guest DHCP Proxy function question

Starting Point: Multiple 5508 WLCs running recent software and required to run N+1 resilience. (No Guest Anchors, Guest and Corporate WLANs on same WLC...not ideal but we are where we are!)
Whats Changing?: Migrating Guest Access from simple xDSL for Guest with DHCP delivered by the xDSL router to a regular DMZ (DMZ has no DHCP servers)...beginning migration to a proper configuration.
Question: Will the WLC running as a DHCP proxy provide DHCP leases to clients in Guest VLAN from a properly configured (Guest scope) DHCP server accessible via the management interface?
Supplemental Question :Will this affect how N+1 resilience is configured?

    hi Jim
So you're legging your controllers into the DMZ? Normally anchors are involved and you place the anchor in the DMZ and tunnel. But it sounds like you have foreign controller (inside) and using these as both internal wireless and guest.
I assume you are VLANng from your controller to the DSL router.
how proxy works ..on the wlc interface you have a guest interface. you give this an ip in the guest subnet and you also add the DHCP server IP. Wireless client comes on asks for a DHCP, controller intercepts it and UNIcast on behalf of the client for a IP address.
    Does that help ?

  • DOES XI CERTIFICATION INCLUDE PROXY RELATED QUESTIONS?

    Hi,
Can anybody please tell me that XI certification includes Proxy questions or not?
This will help me in my preparation.

    Hi Shweta,
    Have a look at this:-
Which type of Interfaces can be used for Proxy Generation?
    a)       Inbound
    b)       Outbound
    c)       Abstract
    d)       All the above
    An Abstract interface can be
    a)     Outbound

    c)     Asynchronous
    d)     Used for proxy generation
Which of the following are true about Proxies and Proxy generation?
    a)     Proxies are created in the system from message types using the proxy generation functions.
    b)     Proxies are executable interfaces in the application system.
    c)     Java proxies are generated on the application server with transaction SPROXY.
    d)     ABAP proxies are generated from the web services description language description of the interface in integration repository.
    e)     Proxy generation converts non-language-specific-interface descriptions in web services description language into executable interfaces.
    The answers are:-
    1. a,b
    2. b,c
    3. b,d

  • OSB Proxy calling another proxy - performance question

My client wants to standardize their logging into a common proxy logging service (LoggingService).
The idea is that all their services can call this service to perform standard logging.
To implement this, we created a simple proxy based on any XML. It doesn't have a real business service behind it. Instead, it's simply a proxy configured with a Log action in the request pipeline to log $body.
Their other services call this from their request and response pipelines using the "Service Callout" Action.
Does anyone know what the performance impact of doing this would be? When I call the LoggingService proxy via the service callout, is another network connection created or is OSB optimized to do a local request?

wasn't familiar with the publish action vs the service callout. I just looked it up in the developers doc. Looks like it would work too. I'm just not clear what the difference is between the publish action and the service callout and when you would use on vs the other.
compare Routing action versus Service Callout action versus Publish action?
How do I know publish is more efficient than service callout? Enable monitoring (under Operational Settings) at action level in your proxy service having both publish and service callout. You may refer section "26.6 Viewing Service Monitoring Information"-

  • JAX-RPC Dynamic Proxy Client Question

I have a very simple web service successfully deployed using Tomcat 5 and Apache Axis. It simply takes a string and returns a String. Regardless, it's working.
Now I'm wanting to create a JAX-RPC dynamic proxy client as described on the following page:
    http://java.sun.com/webservices/docs/1.3/tutorial/doc/JAXRPC5.html
There are numerous other articles out there describing the same method.
My problem is that I'm getting a ServiceException on the following line every time I try to run my client:
    ServiceFactory factory = ServiceFactory.newInstance();
Would anyone have any ideas why this might be or what I might be missing? All the articles make it seem like this is just a trivial line and never mention much about it.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello,
You are getting a service Exception on ServiceFactory.newInstance() method?
Actually, I have never seen this problem before. Is it possible that there are
classpath issues? That is, are you using just the jars from the jwsdp?

  • Getting Authenticate Proxy Server questions when Installing Flash Player?

    Hello all
I am getting the menu below when trying to install Flash Player.  This is an old proxy server that I have not used for 3 years.  I cannot find anyplace on my computer where this is still referenced.   How do I get around this menu and install the Flash Player?   Where do I look to find where the installer is pulling this information?   None of my browsers are set up to use a proxy server, so I am stumped.   I do not use a proxy server and Flash Player will not install without this specific server information.   HELP.

  • Reverse proxy + SSL question

    Hi everyone.
I try to setup a proxy for my organization (I downloaded the latest 4.0.x version of Sun Web Proxy Server). The idea is that, through it we need to offer acces to a part of our intranet.
There is a public (internet) address available (with SSL activated, it's an Apache server).
    The idea is :
    - normal extranet : https://foo.bar.com
    - reverse proxy : https://foo.bar.com:4443/path/inside/intranet (which would be, for the proxy https://intranet.foo.bar.com/path/inside/intranet).
Do you have any advice on how I should do that ? I tried to import the apache certificate inside the proxy, but it won't work. Is there something I'm missing ?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
    Edited by: TiamatB5 on Dec 8, 2008 7:42 AM

Alright, I found the solution :
    - apache is used as a front reverse proxy, accepting SSL requests
    - a specific url is used like : https://extranet.foo.bar/intranet that does the reverse proxy to http://extranet.foo.bar:8888 (on the same server as apache)
    - Sun Proxy Web server is used to do the real reverse proxying of http://extranet.foo.bar:8888 to http://intranet.foo.bar
    - the content rewriting is used to rewrite internal url to https ones like : http://intranet.foo.bar/foo/bar is rewritten to https://extranet.foo.bar/intranet/foo/bar
After testing it works like a charm. No need to request a specific certificate for the Sun Proxy, and it's exactly what's been asked to me, that is : the client mustn't see the internal redirection. With this, they don't see that there is a proxy and they don't see the http://extranet.foo.bar:8888 part. It seems a bit complicated, but at least it works ;)

  • Where do i get proxy server addresses to insert in mysettings for Premium proxy switcher add on?

Where do I get proxy server addressesto insert in my setup of the add on.....Premium Proxy Switcher 1.0.10?

    Thank you for checking, Tom,
I'm confused. What do YOU get when you push the feed button? And why is it working on yours and not either of my machines?
Today, my Mac (w/Safari 4) gets the same error message: Safari can’t open the page Safari can’t open the page “feed:http://vibrationalvoyages/vibrationalvoyages.com/DivineLight_Vibrations_Principles_andApplications/rss.xml”. The error is: “The feed could not be loaded because the content is not in a known feed format.”
My little ASUS (with a Linux operating system) gets a screen that says "The requested URL was not found". The URL on that page is http://vibrationalvoyages./vibrationalvoyages.com/DivineLight_Vibrations_Principles_andApplications/rss.xml
On both error messages, the URL I was checking was:
    http://www.vibrationalvoyages.com/DivineLight_Vibrations_Principles_and_Applications/Divine_Light_Vibrations_Principles_ andApplications.html
The last URL was, of course, the URL generated by iWeb.
    So, my question still is:
HOW CAN I GET MY FEEDS TO WORK PROPERLY? If the problem is there shouldn't be an http:// after feed: then, how do I get iWeb to set it up properly?
    Any ideas?
    GG
