Proxy setting? how?

My company uses an outgoing http proxy. I have safari set to use it, but how can I set Software Update to use it? SU always says the Apple SU Server could not be found.

This is Windoz we are talking about. There is no global proxy setting like there is for the Mac. Every program has to handle it themselves.
This is Windows we're talking about so that isn't true. In your Internet Options control panel, go to the Connections tab. You'll see the built-in Windows proxy settings that programs that don't install their own proxy set-up use. You'll see further options if you click the "LAN Settings" button in that tab.
Those are the proxy settings that Safari uses. (You'll find yourself in that control panel tab if you go Edit > Preferences > Advanced and click the "Proxies: Change settings" button.)

How can I stop Firefox from switching to proxy setting from no proxy

I have a Fios connection so the proxy setting is "no proxy" . Every time I close Firefox, it switches to the proxy setting button and highlights a proxy. It has just started doing this about 5 days ago after 3 years on this computer. It doesn't do it on my laptop. Each time I check the "no proxy" button to connect, but the next time I open Firefox, it's back to proxy.

ABAP Proxy Set up and Load balancing

Hi All,
We have a SAP ECC 5.0 PRD server in our landscape. I need to set up ABAP Proxy in the server.
They have implemented Load balancing in the ECC 5.0 PRD server. They have two servers (One Central Server and another APP Server) and one of the servers will be used at any point in time based on load conditions.
Now where exactly i have to perform the ABAP Proxy set up and how does it work at runtime.

SLDCHECK
Use this transaction to access the SLD of XI.
SLDAPICUST
Create an entry for respective XI server
requires hostname, port username and ip.
Can have multiple enteries for different servers.
But you can check only one entry.
based on the entry that is checked, respective SLD API will be triggered from
SLDCHECK.
SM59 (T type connections).
To connect to the SLD you need 2 types of TCP/IP connections.
1)LCRSAPRFC:-
      In this you require the gateway host(ip address) and gatewayservice(sapgw[system no.])
      YOu also need to give Program ID.
      Entry of corresponding Program ID must be maintained in SMGW.
      IN SMGW Click GoTo->logged on Clients.
      If entry is not there for corresponding XI.
      Create a communication channel in XI, pointing to R3 and give a Program ID
      in the channel. Once the channel is activated, corresponding Program ID wil
      appear in SMGW.
2)SAPSLDAPI:-
     In this case follow the same porcedure as for LCRSAPRFC.
   As far as the Program ID is concerned te procedure mentioned above is for
   Customized RFC's
   The RFC destinations mentioned here are both standard RFC's
   Hence for these two RFC's no need to Create Program ID's. you just need to
   change the System ID of the Program ID.
   Both these RFC's are maintained in the J2ee server of XI.
SPROXY.
   In this transcation you can check the Proxies.
   If the proxies are not activated (i.e. if the message interfaces are not active)
   this step is optional
   then you need to maintain one G type RFC destination pointing the resepctive XI server.
   In the G tpye RFC destination give the Ip adress of the XI server in the target
   host and set the path prefix as /rep.
   Goto SPROXY->Goto->connection test-> click on the table SPROXSET.
   In this table maintain enteries for ADDRESS_ONLY_FROM_SPROXSET and IFR_HTTP_DEST
   The values corresponding to these enteries will be the G tpye RFC destination.
In order to connect R3 to the Integaration server you need to maintain H type
The default RFC is XI_INTEGRATIONSERVER. In you need to give the Target host entry as the
Ip address and Path Prefic as.../sap/XI/engine/?type=entry (this you can get from SXMB_ADM of XI)
You can also create the H type RFc of your own.
goto SXMB_ADM(r3) and open Integration engine configuration.

What does the setting 'use system proxy setting' mean?

I am using a proxy server that requires my email address which I need to change. I can't figure out how to change the proxy server settings. Under preferences, network, settings, the checked box is 'use system proxy settings' -- I don't know what this means or how to see what the proxy setting is and possibly change it.

If the default "Use system proxy settings" is selected then Firefox will try to query the OS to find which settings to use. 
If you want to use a specific proxy in Firefox then you can select use "Manual proxy configuration" and enter the URL and port number that you want to use.

I can't load internet after resetting Firefox due to proxy setting problem

Everytime I load upgraded Firfox 3.6.6 I get an error message saying the new version does not accept the proxy setting.

Every time I load the newest version of Firefox 3.6.6 it says it is not accepting the proxy setting. Since I've never had a problem like this, I don't know how to correct it.

Proxy Setting Clarification

Hello there,
I have a small question regarding the available proxy settings in iOS.
Under the Wi-Fi configuration, you have the HTTP Proxy setting and you also have proxy settings found within the VPN configuration. I understand that the proxy under Wi-Fi is used when connected to the Wi-Fi network. For example, if I'm connected to Wi-Fi and a Wi-Fi proxy is configured, a request to Google in Safari will pass through the proxy.
I'm not sure what role the VPN proxy setting plays. If for example I'm connected to Wi-Fi and I have a Wi-Fi proxy configured, is the Wi-Fi proxy used if I connect to a remote network using a VPN or do I need to configure the VPN proxy setting? In other words, how do both proxy settings work together if they do at all? Is it as simple as the Wi-Fi proxy being used when connected to the local Wi-Fi and the VPN proxy being used only used when connected to the VPN due to me being 'no longer connected' to the local Wi-Fi network?
Official documentation from Apple doesn't seem to document the difference or purpose.
Any input is appreciated.

You got it right with the latter possibility. VPN proxy is used for web requests which pass through the VPN. VPN becomes the default gateway when connect so all traffic will go across it. So the WiFi proxy won't be used while VPN is up.

Pushing FireFox proxy setting via NAL

I need to be able to push a change to the FireFox browser proxy setting
using ZenWorks. The setting is in a file called user.js, which FireFox
reads and adds to prefs.js when FireFox starts. I can create the user.js
file, but it needs to be copied to
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application
Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default , where "xxxxxxxx" appears
to be a random series of characters chosen by FireFox when the FireFox
profile is created (the one for my profile is "yo1j350j.default"). This
is where I am having the problem.
Ok, I know that I can use %Appdata% to point to the user's application
data directory. However, how do I address the "xxxxxxxx.default directory
when it is different for each user? Is there some way to create a custom
macro in ZenWorks that the Application Launcher can use?
I suppose I could push the entire application over again, but this seems
like gross overkill when all I want to do is copy a text file with two
short lines in it to the workstations.
We have a series of workstation changes that need to be rolled out to
multiple locations - and this is the only one that I am having trouble
automating. Any help would be appreciated!

New Proxy Setting Not Applying

We are applying a 2 part proxy GPO the computer part is applying but not the user part. We have unlinked and deleted the old policy from the OU but for some reason the old policy is still applying in the user policy. The only difference between the two
policy is the proxy info and the cert.
