PRS 350 Stylus

I'm curious how many other owners of the Reader PRS 350 have had the stylus break apart. The top of mine simply fell off recently while it was properly stowed in the device. I had perhaps used it on one or two occasions since the device was purchased.
I have contacted Sony support and have been told I can purchase a new one for US$ 62.91 plus tax and shipping; however, I think that is an exorbitant cost for such a tiny piece of plastic.
Has anyone had luck in obtaining a free or reasonably priced replacement stylus from Sony, or from another source? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The part numbers for the stylus are:
A1786740A Silver
A1799066A Pink
A1799099A Blue
I would recommend that you call Sony customer relations team on the pricing:

I am trying to download some books that I have purchased at the Kobo site into my Sony PRS-350 library so that I can drag them onto my Sony reader device. I have contacted Sony who couldn't help so they passed me along to Kobo, who also couldn't help, so they have sent me along to get help from Adobe.
I am really hoping that you are able to help me so I can get reading on my Sony reader device.
I keep getting a 'download failed' error message when I hit the download prompt on the Kobo site. I have installed all the new software with Sony and Adobe and still no luck.

  • Prs-350,trying to download book, keeps telling me it is fullo, had 182 and deleted about 40 books bu

prs-350 reader, finally ready to download a book from kobo, but my reader keeps saying it is full, i had 182 books and deleted about 40, so I should have room.  can you please help me?

    Hi
Control the amount of memory free on your PRS-350 info menu, I think on:
    [Home]-->[Settings]-->[About] (Total memory approx 1,4GB)
(Perhaps you deleted ebooks only  from PRS-350’s database, but ebook’s file still exist on reader or file deleted were too small and new one is too big (containing images, for example))

  • Why does ADE 4.0 not recognize my Sony PRS-350?

Why does ADE 4.0 not recognize my Sony PRS-350?

    Hi olvaso
I have the exact same problem and needless to say, I am really pissed off!!!
Such technology should not have compatibility problems, either your reader can download ebooks or else it should not be sold as an ebook reader.
I've had to download a DRM removal tool in order to read ebooks that I PAID FOR on a regular e-reader that I REGULARLY BOUGHT!!!
The problem is, not all e-books can get unlocked so I already have 4 books I can't read except on my PC.

  • Sony reader PRS-350 - Problems still unsolved?

iMac does not recognize Sony PRS-350 Reader when USB connected. This problem was first described in 2009. In the Reader Library software, Error is displayed where it should be Reader. Moving downloaded books is impossible. Could it be true that Sony still has done nothing to repair this? Any advice is welcome, thanks!

The way you describe your problem tells me that it may be because of the
digital rights assigned to the ebook.  Publishers and resellers have the
ability to restrict downloads to your PC.
With ADE in Library mode, put your cursor on the title of the ebook.  A
small arrow will appear.  Put your cursor on that arrow, and a drop-down
menu will appear.  In the middle, you'll see the digital permissions
embedded in the ebook, and I'd bet that the one about copying says
'no'....  If this is the case, you can go back to the source and complain.
They might - or might not - be able/willing to do anything about it.
    Hope this helps!

  • Sony PRS-350, Reader, ADE, PDF, EPUB, HELP

Don't want to say how many hours I've spent trying to download two books from my local digital library to my new Sony PRS-350 e-reader.
    My setup:
Windows XP Svc Pk 3, IE 8
Sony PRS-350 e-reader, listed as a compatible device with my area's digital library
Authorized my computer and device on both Adobe Digital Editions and Sony Reader sites
I bought the Sony for borrowing from the library, rather than having to buy.
Downloaded a PDF book from the digital library to ADE but was unable to send it to the e-reader
Downloaded an EPUB book that is nowhere to be found on my PC and also not on ADE [and obviously not on the e-reader]
When downloading/attempting to download, the Sony Reader window opens up telling me "this computer is not authorized to preview this book".
I am not trying to buy a book from the Sony Store, only trying to download what I have borrowed from my library.
I've sent emails to the local library which supports the digital library, but it is too early to expect to hear back from anyone and I also hope that someone here will have some thoughts based on the information I have provided. I must be missing a step but after reading the instructions on the e-reader and online [and some posts here], I am no closer to figuring out what I am doing wrong.
Thanks to all for any information. I am bleary-eyed and need to get away from the screen. Will definitely check back later.

It may be useful to mention this (the need to install the Sony library software and the no-function on Mac)  in the help for moving books from ADE to supported e-readers (the PRS-350 is on the list of supported devices), since it clearly states that ADE will recognize e-readers when you connect them to an authorized PC and will prompt you to authorize the ereader. I have been trying for two days to get it to work and authorize my e-reader...
Grateul for your post, though, so I can stop my attempts.

  • Trouble with Sony PRS 350

I have had a Sony PRS 350 ebook for a couple of months, and regularly plugged it into my ordinary MacBook to recharge it. It made no difference whether the lid on the MacBook was open or shut.
A week ago, my MacBook Air arrived I now plug the ebook into one of the USB-ports on the MacBook Air to re-charge the ebook. All goes well, unless I shut the lid on the Air. When I re-open the lid, I am told -- wrongly -- that I have disconnected a device without first ejecting it. I then find that the ebook has frozen, and must use a straightened paper-clip to restore it to life.
Any suggestions, other than to take the MacBook back under the guarantee ?

What I assume is happening is that you MBA is going to sleep when you close the lid, terminating the charge. One the charge stops, the PRS-350 puts itself into standby after 10 minutes and is unavailable to reconnect when the MBA comes out of sleep.
I recommend that you simply buy a cheap Blackberry charger with a micro USB connector and use that to charge you reader. The reader will charge more quickly and you will be able to use it while it is charging. For more info, go to http://www.mobileread.com.

  • EPUB Content Bug PRS-350

I found bug in firmware 1.0.00.08100 for PRS-350 Sony Reader.
If epub-file have table of contents and some chapters have subchapters - the order of table of contents can break. I made sample epub file with such structure:
    section 1
    section 2
    - section 2.1
    - section 2.2
TOC is displayed in such way:
    section 2 (2 elements)
    section 1
So sorting order depends if chapter have subchapters (like sorting files in file manager - first directories then files). This is wrong behaviour because some chapters can contain subchapters some not, and TOC in epub contain info how they must be displayed.
Question: Is this corrected in future firmware versions? If not would it be corrected?

My own experience with the 950 Daily Edition is that its support of epub format is quite poor. I have several epub books that I am unable to read on the device due to seeing page error on the screen.
People have posted in regards to these issues, but no new firmware or fix has been made available to address it. I have to use pdf instead that at least allows me to read the document.
I have seen no response from Sony as to why these issues are going unaddressed. I guess they either cannot fix it or do not want to fix it. I would not be surprised if your reported issue receives the same treatment.

  • I have a PRS 350 ereader - it want charge & appears frozen

I have a PRS 350 ereader - it has only been charged 4 times, it had low battery the other night so I charged it, but it is frozen, want turn on want turn off has "low battery" icon on screen and an exclamation mark over it... there are no bars on the battery level despite overnight charging, and when I plug it in there is no charging symbol.
I have pressed reset which does nothing - I have disconnected the battery inside and put back, but this has not helped.
do you know what is wrong with it.

    Hi 2Dalmatian,
Please try to download and install the latest firmware version. You can find them in this page. Thanks!

  • PRS-350 clearing memory?

I got the PRS-350 for Christmas and have been pretty happy with it except for one thing... it periodically clears the memory of all my notes/bookmarks, etc. The books I have downloaded onto it themselves stay there, but all the settings and notes are lost. I'm not doing anything silly with the reader (dropping it, keeping it in a place where it's knocked about) or anything like that... I'll just turn it on and everything is gone. This is really frustrating, as I have a couple texts that i was taking diligent notes on that are now lost. What's the deal? What ciould be causing this? And is there any way to get my notes back?

    Hi,
Have you tried to store your books and associated notes on the SD card rather than using the Sony internal memory for storage ?
I did experienced some funny things using the internal memory, especially at the boot time.
    So ...

  • Dictionary for sony prs-350

    hi.
I'm using this reader for about six months. The cool thing, but are lacking in dictionaries Can we somehow add the English-Russian and Russian-German?
I work as a system administrator, in Russian literature is small enough good about the administration.
I'd love to have appeared in the Sony's store dictionaries as a patch for the reder.

    Hello,
Welcome to the User Discussion Forums.
Reader Store from Sony carries over 2 million different titles and since Reader is open format, supporting both industry standard formats ePub and PDF, you can access even more books from other online bookstores and get content from other online sources.
Thank you for your Suggestion for English-Russian or Russian-German Dictionary's. Please visit this link to make the request directly to the Sony Reader Bookstore,

  • New activation of Sony prs 600

I am having a nightmare with my new reader. I obviously screwed up on activation and even though I have deact
ivated and reactivated I cannot open or transfer any books I have purchased either on the Sony e reader library OR the Adode Dig
ital Editions. In the UK I can only communicate 'online' with Adobe and its slow, frustrating and hasnt helped. Any suggestio
    ns?

    My PRS-350 showed up in ADE2.0 in Windows (once Sony Reader and the driver were installed);
and would work for boutght DRM books.
... but ADE2.0 would not handle library books correctly with the Sony plugged in.
    I use ADE1.7.2 instead.
There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0.  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

If you really want to use ADE2.0 and the Sony won't show up,
you can use ADE2.0 to download the .acsm file and get the DRM .epub file,
and then use Finder (or other file manager) to copy the .epub books from the Mac to the Sony.
As long as the Sony is authorized with the same ID as ADE, your should be able to read the books on it.
If the Sony isn't even showing up as a mapped drive, then there is something wrong at a lower level.
Usually, you don't even need the Sony software for it to show up as a mapped drive.

  • I have a Sony PRS-300, is Adobe Digital Editions compatable with it?

My PRS-300 is not on the list of compatable e-readers... but the PRS-350 is.  Is my PRS-300 compatable?

There are bugs with ADE2.0 that mean the combination ADE2.0/Sony reader/Overdrive library book does not work correctly.
This is one of the vast number of bugs in ADE2.0.

To use ADE (either version) with a Sony device you need to install Sony Reader.
    Download from https://ebookstore.sony.com/download/
Even if you don't use Sony Reader, it installs a device driver that enables ADE to interact with the Sony.
(Not sure why Sony makes this awkwardness that other devices don't have, it slightly marrs a really excellent lightweight ereader.)

  • Plug in second eBook reader, can't read library book on PC

I'm not quite sure how flexible overdrive Library loans using ADE are meant to be, so maybe I'm trying to do something I shouldn't, but the behaviour is very odd.
I have been using my local library and reading loaned books on a Bookeen Opus; using ADE as a necessary intermediary.
This has worked fine (apart from an ADE irritation mentioned in another post, but that is pretty much a side-effect).
I can read the books on the PC if I want to (which I generally don't), and on the eBook reader.
My wife recently got a second reader (Sony PRS-350) which we have registered with the same Adobe id.
I have transferred a bought DRM book to it and that worked fine, we can read it on PC or either reader.
However, I am getting very odd effects with library books.
I've transferred books from her library account and mine onto the PC, and on to the first reader.
No problems, all behaved as before.
BUT ... when I plug the new reader into the computer, ADE gets upset and refuses to go near any of the library books.
When I try to copy a library book to the reader, I get a message 'CE_COPY_NOT_ALLOWED - No permission to copy the book.'
And when I try to read one on the PC with the new reader plugged in, I get 'Unable to open ... No record for this loan is found on this machine.'
Unplug the new reader and I can read the book on the PC; but obviously can't copy it.
Is this a feature of ADE and Adobe DRM rules on library books, or a bug in ADE, or a problem specifically with the Sony, or ...???
Googling gave me various people with 'No record for this loan is found on this machine' issues, but they all seemed different.
I guess I could install ADE on another machine with another adobeId for my wife, and register her reader with that id, but that seems a bit complicated. And not possible for lots of people who don't have a second PC.
Can anyone suggest a way around it?

Transferred from another thread to keep discussion together.
You should not make generalizations based on your experiences with
DRM-protected library ebooks that don't allow copying and then say ADE
    won't copy ebooks to a PRS-350.  That's not true.  I have a PRS-350 and I
am able to transfer ebooks to it via ADE.  The difference is DRM
protection, which you've overlooked in your previous postings.  THAT is
preventing your copying an ebook via ADE to any ereader.
I didn't say ADE wouldn't copy DRM-protected books, I said that it wouldn't copy DRM protected library books.
As I had mentioned in previous postings, it will transfer other DRM protected books with precisely the same copy protection information (except for the time expiry on the library books).
I should have been more precise: ADE 2.0.67532 won't copy Overdrive library books borrowed from Hampshire County Library to my Sony PRS-350 on my machine with Sony Reader 2.0.01.11080 installed.  Others have similar issues. As Triantiwontigongolope20notes above, My Sony ereader worked fine with the old version of ADE but the new version is causing all sorts of problems.  Or see Kovar's issues at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1079584?tstart=0
If you have sucessfully transferred DRM Overdrive books to your PRS-350 using ADE, can you please let us know the version level of ADE and Sony Reader (it's probably the underlying driver software which it installs that matters) you have installed?  That might help us narrow down the bug that undoubtably exists.

  • Help with multiple ADE accounts

Hi, I have a bit of a problem and was hoping someone more wise in the ways of Adobe could help me out, as my searching has failed so far. Back when I first got into ereading, I discovered Sony and set myself an account with them under my college email. Then I was given my Kobo Vox, which I setup under my personal email, and have mostly used since. I am going to be losing the college email, and my old prs-350 sony is dying. Back then I didn't realize that doing it that way created two different Adobe ID's. I was wondering if there was some way to merge the accounts under my personal email, and keep both sets of books. I know if I sign in to the ADE website, I can change my email address, will that make it so all the books from both stores will have the same Adobe ID? Or can I call Adobe customer service and have them do it? Has anyone managed that?

I see that I was wrong: it is possible to merge accounts (as long as you have id and password for both)
    from: http://www.datalogics.com/pdf/doc/acs/JointAccountGuide.pdf
How do I find out which accounts are joined together?
You can go to this page:  https://adeactivate.adobe.com/adept/en/JoinAccountLoginForm.jsp to see
    which accounts are joined together.
