PS/2 Mouse for Pavilion M9340f

I have a Pavilion M9340f and the mouse that came with it is a 5188-6230 Rev-B and it has a PS/2 Plug.
Will a 5188-6229 mouse work fine with this computer?

  • Pavilion m9340f crashes displaying a bluescreen error. Windows 7 Ultimate 64

Running Windows 7 on my Pavilion m9340f computer, I was experiencing occasional "bluescreen" crashes. In an attempt to fix the problem, I unwisely inserted the original Windows 7 DVD in the computer drive, thinking it might serve to repair the problem, or "reboot" the software. What resulted was that the newly installed Windows 7 was determined to be "not a genuine copy of Windows" and wouldn't allow me to use the features of the OS.  I was then advised to format the hard drive of my computer, which I did, and I did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate, which now was accepted as genuine. At first, the computer seemed to be functioning normally, but soon the BlueScreen crashes became even more frequent, occurring almost every time I operated the computer. I have run HP Diagnostics which shows no problems. I have eliminated most software programs which could cause a conflict. I am running, currently: Norton 360 Premier Edition, Microsoft Word 2010, and Google Chrome--could any of them be cause of the conflict? Please advise regarding possible solutions. Thanks!

    Hi Steve,
If the blue screen events are being caused by software, the first one I'd suspect would be the security software.  Make sure you have a record of any activation key you need to activate Norton and then try temporarily uninstalling it by downloading and running the relevant Norton Removal Tool from the link below.

When the uninstallation is complete, restart the PC and then download and install the free version of Avast Antivirus.  Again, when this has completed, reboot the PC and see if there is any improvement.

    Hi, Tom.
FYI: You've not stated which of your listed Macs is having the problem. However, the following may help in any case:
    1. Did you install Front Row using the Front Row hack on a Mac that did not ship from the factory with Front Row installed? If so, See my "Uninstalling the Front Row hack" FAQ. This has been known to cause a variety of problems, including the menu bar (Clock, Spotlight) issues you noted.
    2. If you did not install the Front Row Hack, an incompatible or corrupted Startup or Login Item may be partly to blame for the problems with the menu bar. My "Troubleshooting Startup and Login Items" FAQ can help you pin that down if such an item is causing the problem.
    3. As a general check, run the procedure specified in my "Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption" FAQ. Perform the steps therein in the order specified.
    4. Re: Safari and Mail, if not sorted by any of the above, see also:• "Safari: Blank icon after installing Security Update 2006-002 v1.0."

I think the high heat situation and damaged your video chip at the very least and someone will have to open the laptop and reflow, reball or replace the video chip. If this machine is in warrantee, you need to call HP or contact them before it is out of warrantee.

  • Can i use my iPhone as a mouse for my Macbook Pro?

Hi guys, im very curious if youre able to use an iphone as a mouse for mac. When i mean a mouse i mean as a regular mouse and not that mouse app thing with the screen going on. I mean literally as a regular mouse which you can use like if it was a normal mouse.
Very curious like i mentioned and i hope theres an solution for this as well.

oh kind of disappointed, thought i could do literally EVERYTHING with an iphone.

  • Best Mouse for my MacBook Pro?

I don't need a mouse for gaming purposes (let's face it Macs are limited in that department), but I do need one that will work well and won't freeze up. Two USB slots get filled pretty quickly, which is why a mouse with Bluetooth capability is preferable.
Any recommendations? I've heard Logitech is not bad, Microsoft either. I'm open to your suggestions. Is there a list that may be compiled of this information already? Oh, and a PC/Mac compatible one would be great too. Thank you!
P.S. Please don't recommend the mighty mouse; right clicking is a must and getting used to its sensors isn't something I'm willing to do for $70.

I might just try that out since the Microsoft Bluetooth 5000 alternative doesn't appeal to me for aesthetic reasons, or I may wait to buy the Logitech Bluetooth Mouse M555b which is slightly more expensive. I like the design of the latter but I'm not entirely sure if its worth the price tag.

  • Mouse for my MacBook Pro.

Hi I have a MacBook Pro and I want to buy a mouse for it. I've looked at the Apple Magic Mouse but it's a little expensive and also has quite a few bad reviews.
I saw a HP mouse in PC World but they told me it wasn't compatible with a Mac. Has anyone any suggestions?

Logitech FTW!!!   Got a stable of 4 different mice from them, including the yet unequaled Logitech Air that never ceases to amaze people.

  • A mouse for my macbook

I'm looking to buy a mouse for my new macbook and am looking for sugestions. I don't want to break the bank but I'd also like something that is white/light in colour to match the computer. I've read some reviews about the mighty mouse that didn't speak to highly of it so I'd like to stay away from it but any other sugestions would be greatly appreciate.

The Mighty Mouse actually isn't that bad. I have one and enjoy it. I would say this much, any USB mouse will work. Bluetooth mice will also work. Do not install the software included with the mouse unless it is known to be Intel Mac compatible and compatible with that operating system. One thing to note about wireless mice, they can often fail to work when the battery level gets low and give no warning that the battery level is low.
Steer Mouse and USB Overdrive are two mice utilities made for Intel Macs to extend the capabilities of third party multibutton mice.

    Hi,
For normal computer, we only have Windows 85, 98, XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and now Windows 8.1. Probably you need a recovery discs set for your machine. Please call HP technical support: 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

  • Best Mouse for Lightroom 4

I need to buy a new mouse for my Mac to use with Lightroom 4
It also needs to work with Office apps etc
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Jim

Another more expensive option to consider is a Wacom tablet, which adds pressure sensitivity not available using a mouse. Here's a good video on tablet use with Lightroom:

  • Good tracking speed, CHEAP, big, quality and reliable mouse for macbook pro

    Hi mac people,
I need a mouse for this all purposes:
1)Reduce using the build in trackpad(to protect my built in trackpad)
2)Sometime I want casual gaming(Simcity,ps1 game, some other point and shoot game)
3)I 'm 183cm tall, so my hand is quite big, and I use my macbook pro as my primary pc, so need a all day use mouse(but I use my mac only about 3 hour a day).
    4)as mentioned in title.
    Thanks everyone for sharing advice!!!!!

As everyone's hands are different, I'd suggest going to any store with computer accessories and simply trying the feel of whatever brands of mice they sell.

  • Best mouse for a person with trembling hands

My Grandfather recently acquired a new Mac (an iBook) on which I am typing this message.
I didn't want to let him use the integrated track pad because I found it very unpractical, so I ordered an Apple (wired) mouse for him. Unfortunately his hand is often trembling, and he has very little space to move the mouse, so we need to lift the mouse to move it without affecting the pointer's position an be able to move the pointer from the top-left corner to the bottom-right corner of the screen.
All this causes him great difficulty (pointing precisely and lifting the mouse) so I wondered if a mouse with a track ball would be more suitable.
    What do you think ?

Are you thinking of the VERTICAL Mouse? I read about those, too, and thought one would be ergonomically great . . . So bought one.
I lasted about 3 days and gave up. In theory, they're great. But I don't think they're good unless you have large hands. They sure don't seem to be made for women. I have small hands and where the mouse hits as it rests against my thumb/fleshy area of my hand isn't comfortable and in fact, after a while hurts. I think the mouse is just too big for me. You need a wide hand.
And your arm has to rest on your desk at exactly the right angle or the thing is annoying to work with. I also don't know that it would be so hot for someone with trembling hands, because your hand is in such a specific position, your fingers in fact, could tremble.
Also, because your arm rests on the desk and your hand around the mouse, every time you move or adjust your position, you have to pick up the mouse and reset yourself. And it's clunkier to hold than other mice and sliding it around is clunkier.
I like the idea of the vertical mouse so much and I might use it from time to time as a change of pace, but I can't recommend it unless you know for a fact it will fit your hand comfortably. I bought mine online. Couldn't find anywhere to audition it live.
